We voted to start with the boring fix up updates first remember? (Actually we voted on more content first. I was mistaken.) Yes, communication could be much better, but he hasn't really gone against his word.

I enjoyed the Easter event too, I would be upset if they took away seasonal events. Good thing they won't! :)
I'm bored of people telling everyone they're bored, just because the patches are lackluster. Great discovery too, since everyone know they are just hotfixes and something else.
Which is even more stupid, now we know how much time they need to release a proper content.
If you really so bored, do the community a favor: don't tell people you're bored, freeze until june or more, and don't post on forum in the meanwhile. The end.
What is this "hot week", since i don't remember an holiday here where everyone close shops ?Quote:
Kind of like in Italy, they have a "Hot week" holiday lol and everywhere closes.
And this is where everyone complaining about lack of communication for the last week are informed of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_Week_%28Japan%29
Pretty much this. People couldn't wait to get back in game and some were even ridiculing SE for leaving it down for so long.
If you don't enjoy the game don't play it. If you don't have hope for the game look elsewhere. If you actually want to see this game succeed then stop being a bunch of pessimistic whiners who cry the instant you're bored of anything. I consistently see the day a letter or info comes up whining and complaining mixed in with some decent feedback. Couple of days later the forum reverts back to its original form of whining and trolling.
actually we voted overwhelmingly for content first....he decided himself to spit in our faces and say i don't care what you want i am going to do this anyways.
he is not doing what the polls wanted and is doing whatever he wants so why make the polls to begin with? it was face time to make people have hope for the game. the hope is dying fast and yoshi took a sinking ship and started shooting holes in the floor to help it go down faster.
Smart. If we voted content first and good content takes 4 months to develop and if we voted UI fixes first and UI fixes take 2 weeks to develop should he put UI on the side until he releases the content 4 months down the road?
And for the record, he has been pumping in content, its just not what we really care for and its not really for us any more its for the new wave of players they're anticipating. The next content patch should please us or fail the game.
Not to mention content has little value if the combat system is going to be overhauled because it isn't as fun as it could be. Combat takes precedent as it's a core game system that all future content relies upon.
I got bored 1 week after launch
actually in his own words he seen we wanted content, but was not going to work on content until after he completely changed the battle system. in other words what i posted earlier is spit in the polls faces. he put out the polls hoping they fit what he wanted then because they didn't he said oh well i don't care. nobody said he couldn't have been working on the battle(breaks because they are not fixing anything), but to say they put this that and everything else people were waiting on completely on hold was what he did. if he was working on both it'd be one thing, but he himself has stated he put it on hold.
then he should have waited to change the content we already had in game instead of nerfing it months before the battle adjustments were made. do you not understand this is one of the main reasons people have gotten bored?
if he thought his new system was going to make battle classes so much more pathetic after he put them in he should have left the mobs as they were until the nerf of the classes were implemented and made the mob nerf at the same time so people didn't notice it as much.
Congratulations
Actually you can keep making stuff up but it doesn't change the fact that there is content being pumped out along with the battle system changes mid-June. That doesn't sound like "he just starting working on content" to me. You seem to think its only Yoshi and his family working on this game.
Read my other topic and you'll know I'm not happy with the game. I was only saying that the side quests and guild tasks and NMs being released aren't for me and you or the next guy that's been playing this game since release, they're filler for the PS3 crowd that's expected soon. Furthermore, If you even cared to follow what SE was doing and has been saying, you would know that the battle system changes are coming along with a big injection of content which includes the Companies and Quest Hubs that he mentioned in his latest letter. Just because you think he started working on those last night doesn't make it real.
The common misconception is that development does not take much time when it actually does. That doesn't just mean coding systems together, capturing and implementing new animations, looks of armor, and cut scenes. It also means how are they going to develop the world to be cohesive with the new systems and balancing already implemented content.
You cannot add in, take out, or swap content and have it not effect the rest of the world, systems, and it's lore. You just can't.
This is where the time is going. Sure, you may be able to build stuff similar in your own experience as a developer, but I can tell you it probably isn't as expensive and polished looking as to what Square-Enix's standards are. Not saying whatever they make is spun gold, but I can say any small time developer trying to argue the pace FFXIV is going can't fully know what is going on. They only have a narrow understanding of it. You've never worked with crystal tools. You have no clue what they may have to go through in bad or in good.
He didn't spit in anyone's face.
He stated simply: I can make content for the current battle system, but if I'm going to make a new battle system, shouldn't I then make content for it instead?
We can want Content MOST, but better battle came in 2nd or 3rd. It just made sense to fix a system that content would use, than make content, then battle system, then have to re-make the same content to work with new battle system.
The logic is sound. It's just frustrating from our perspective. Especially (as Peregrine pointed out) when the wording says "starting to implement" changes to the battle. It will be 6months from the poll results when this change "starts." Thank goodness it's coming with some new content for 30s and 50s or I'd be really worried we won't see content all year.
Heya!
I understand your case. I've told some of my friends to try out the game at their own risk, as the game isn't fully developed, but when they gave it a shot they were pretty amazed. Aside the graphics, the lore and the environment felt really great, and some levequests were also funny to play alone. When we've done some levequests together, that was a lot of fun! Did you try to play with a group? Man, that's awesome =)
And also they're designing new things and redesigning from scratch some parts of the game, like the battle system and endgame content, such as Instances and Dungeons, which I hope they're going to put some good lore, maybe with some cinematics, which are really welcome.
In conclusion, this.
See ya!
and as i and many other people have stated hope has dimmed on this future content with the quality of content released so far.
if future battle changes(i refuse to say fixes) require them to nerf the nm's horribly then what kind of horrible changes are we in for?
we were told about grand player ran companies and instead we get npc ones. this is not saying that they can't still be added, but that it is one more question.
constant vague comments on we will do this in the future, but i won't tell you what it is because i don't want to spoil it is horrible.
the game moving farther away from group play and more into solo content is not a massive multiplayer game. that's like going into left4dead and joining versus and realize it's the same thing as campaign because other people aren't needed.
i have not said this game is fail nor have i said this game will never get better, but what i have said is the general direction it has went recently has dimmed the hopes of those of us that seen a great game in the making and was willing to wait it out. there's still actually people that played the game in hopes that this game would get better, but if you look around each server you will see the number of those people have dropped.
the people that stuck it out and tried to wait, if they are like i am(and most i have talked to are), are sticking it out because we are looking for the next long term game and was hoping this was it. if i get to the point i lose the hope for the future of the game i will leave it without looking back not give it a few months and try it again later. if i actually seen improvements to help me enjoy the game even in little parts it would be different, but since release the only thing added i enjoyed was by tanaka and yoshi came behind it and destroyed it.
in november you lost the majority of the players because they wanted a perfect game then, but with yoshi you are now losing even the players that stuck around and played it and tried to find enjoyment in it.
i guess even using your numbers not counting making the crystal tools nor actually building the entire world with tanaka and his team when it got released 5 years after start. we should have had a blank screen and maybe 100 mobs with no spells, animations, weapons, armor, crafting, gathering......etc etc.....
i guess tanaka was doing an awesome job considering in right at 2 years he got that plus much much more done. in a quater of time tanaka had to actually build the world lore and everything else yoshi made....bigger mobs.....buigger animations.... low level nm's
WTF man you're all over the map, you don't even know what you're conversation was about any more. Just stop please.Quote:

sorry let me slow it down to be able to be understood. i'll even type it slowly.
we asked for content. they gave us one line quests to run kill x mob. we already had them so it was not "new Content" it was renaming content already in place and moving it to multiple locations. this makes you question quality of upcoming content.
they said nvm we are not going to do content we are going to fix the battle system. they in turn go and nerf high end mobs which makes people question what quality this upcoming fixes are. if they actually improved gameplay the mobs would not need to be dropped farther since they were already too easy.
they have made multiple statements, but with the type of "something to make them hush stuff" of such bad quality leaves major questions of what type of quality the upcoming stuff is. with so many unanswered questions the hope that some or even all of the upcoming stuff will be good is dimming because of stuff released up until now.
What were they thinking when they released the game this early....
Now that the OP mentions it, Yoshi really shouldn't be toying us with info on their grand ideas for such an extended amount of time then chide us for being curious as to why the communication is so lopsided when we visit the JP forums to find out any crumb of info that could be out there.
There is a certain time frame that hype should be generated and hype isn't what I thought this deal was about. They should be ingratiating themselves for anyone who has the mental fortitude to play such a game that to me really makes no friggin' sense and has more restrictions than a straight-jacket. I think this game really killed the game lover in me. I can't bring myself to play anything lately. I think it was when I got a load of that taskboard I nearly shit. There's a long way to go. I will stop diluting myself.
I logged in about a week ago sat for about 10min trying to decide what i wanted to do; eventually chose leveling crafting. Then a friend of mine busted through my apartment door and said "volley ball now!" I told him that id be out in a few i was playing FFXIV, he sated "why?"
I haven't logged on since and I'm now 6 games deep in a volleyball tournament and haven't looked back other than to check the forums while I'm at work occasionally.
I got 4 classes to R50 now, obtained all F/NM items, even multiple times. I am playing every day since CE release and my LS is very active, we have fun at times and all but still... My only employment now is trying to upgrade my Silver Tricone +2 to a +3.....See how bored I am ?
They are way too slow with the patches and the game is still lacking so many basic features, not to mention content, it's ridiculous. Yoshi-P is begging for patience in all his letters and I just don't see the game evolving, at this rate it will be done in 2020. (No offense I really like him otherwise).
OP is right and so is Belgianrofl. If they don't hurry up and make a miracle happen they can pull the plug soon ><
I think a lot of it is the lack of information and communication.
I know it's 10x better than Tanaka-style, but it's still terrible. This isn't how you sell a product to your unsatisfied customers.
When Yoshida took over he started strong; he was exactly what we all wanted - something to feel hopeful about. He claimed to be responsive and open these forums and write us letters and let us peek into the development room. Literally all he's done though is give us vague comments or pictures or sketches. There's no exposition at all.
"Here's a picture of a Dragoon Armor. Don't worry. There's no DRG in the game, but we designed some armor. MYSTERIOUS OF US, HUH?"
Honestly when you botch as big as FFXIV has botched, you should be reassuring your public every week. "This is where we are this week. This is where we will be next week. In six weeks, this should be implemented. This is how we hope it will work."
I mean they have a "new battle system" and all we know is "auto-attack" (which btw hit the world like a shock; divided arguments everywhere about the benefit or detriment of auto-attack - which is probably the kind of stuff that keeps them from telling us anything) and it's going to begin to implement in 6 weeks. He said the battle designer would speak to us soon about it (not soon enough, methinks).
The Company fiasco is just that. They shouldn't be playing with us like we're loving this game, loving being teased and tormented to know WHATS NEXT!? That's what you do to rabid fans who want more more more. We're skeptical observers who want SOMETHING AT ALL. We don't deserve to be teased or left in the dark, or left to our own thoughts/devices/speculations and allowed to run rampant all over the internet like Belgian Rofl. We should be right there with the team every step of the way to know exactly what we're investing our time (and presumably money) in.
