After speaking with Live Chat support, they've informed me that my issue is a known issue and they'll continue to investigate. They're hoping to have a resolution before early start. They suggested I check their twitter feed for further updates. So, if you're having error 2, be sure to send them a ticket.
Just got off the phone with SE NA support. Called right at 9:00am (PDT) and was on hold for 25 min (not a complaint, just a forewarning). They were able to confirm that my account had been registered and I was going to be able to play EA. The method I used to get my 18 digit code to work was to go to http://preorder.na.finalfantasyxiv.com/ and hit F5 and log in before clicking the flag for my region. After I entered the 18 digit code I was redirected to a page with my 20 digit code which I entered here: secure.square-enix.com/account/app/svc/ffxivearlytop?rgn=na&lng=en I had previously received an email with a EU code (which obviously did not work). This process was a second attempt at registration. I did not receive a confirmation email but after speaking with phone support it was confirmed that my account had been registered.
Does anyone with an NA code want to trade for my EU code? I've been waiting for two days for help from SE, no email yet.
So I have a pre-order code that was printed on a receipt from Gamestop. When you enter that code at the site it then provides you with a second, different Early Access code. Does that first pre-order code confirm the Mog Cap and Minion, or do you not get those without entering the Early Access Code as well?
You have to start by creating a ticket on their support site http://support.na.square-enix.com/, somewhere along this process you'll have the option to go to either live chat, or email chat. Hope that helps!
Strange! I was just talking to "Agent Thomas" on their live chat who reviewed my ticket, asked me for my reg code, where I bought it from, and link I was trying to input the code into. He verified my ticket details and gave me the info about the further investigation taking place. Hmmm :/ Did they shut down their chat within the last 20 minutes?

Oh... wow, I see how I got into live chat now. I chose "FFXIV" for my game and not "FFXIV:ARR" (Which is at the very bottom of the list of final fantasies to choose from.) lol... well, he seemed knowledgeable about the issue at least :)
@seraseth I've been trying to find the chat support also for the past hour. I think it disappeared. They might have disabled it. I'm now on queue on the phone.

Typed "Cant register for early access FFXIV" in the box
Click next.
The next page will have a link to related support articles, I had 1 - "What am I supposed to do with this registration code that came with FINAL FANTASY XIV?"
It says click next if this isn't relevant; click next.
Scroll to the bottom of the next screen. It will have "Attention: North American support is open blah blah"
Followed by Email, and Chat.
Click chat, fill in the form, and click next. After that, it will load up the chat window.
What phone number are you using? I keep getting a busy signal and no queue. And yes, a direct link to a chat support would be great, it's a pain to find anything on their site.

This is very stupid I woulda just made a site to convert the ps3 codes from eu to na problem solved. im still stuck with an EU ps3 code and is already the 22nd.

Queued on phone support for 50 minutes now and just jumped into chat queue.. let's see what kinda run around they give me.
Go to the pre-order code entry site. After you log in it'll take you to the code entry page. Instead of entering the code, click your account name on the upper right of the page and select "My Profile". Check the language of your account and change it to fit your code. English (UK) and English (US). Save it, then try entering it again..
my problem is I got a EU psn code when I need a NA psn code.
Been trying to find more info for 1.0 players that are NOT* Legacy and how I can get early access code without having to rebuy the game.
Obviously cannot find this information anywhere, Is there anywhere I can buy just the code itself for NA servers? Or am I stuck with the masses and playing on Mon/tues?
Any help is appreciated.
On the lodestone's main page. The first post right now at 2:02PM-EST (Just in case they update before you see this.) is about Early Access.

* Those who have either registered a pre-order code or fulfilled the requirements for Legacy status are eligible to participate in Early Access.
* The game client from Beta Test phase 4 (open beta test) can also be used as the game client for Early Access. You do not need to uninstall the Beta Test phase 4 client and install anything else."
If you really want the EA, you can go to a store that lets you do minimum preorders. (I.E. Gamestop where you can drop five bucks on a preorder.) And then just like, never go pick up the game. Just make sure you check your receipt for the pre-order code before you leave. Or make sure they are still providing them I guess.

Yes i went through my profile settings and sometimes it says my language and web page is UK other times it says my language is US and web browser is UK and it doesnt save for both.
also i did call their support line and the man said that they are fixing it i gave him my code and account and he said that just check twitter hopefully we fix it. i told him i hope so cuz i better get in ea :) but they are swamped with soooo many calls
