Difference of pressure and opinion.
The adds in United We Stand are easily managed with players who are accustomed to taking down waves of fodder. And the Magitek Vanguard is a cakewalk to kite on any job.
Conversely, falling meteors that can potentially insta-wipe you is far more pressure, and harder to keep track of in a frantic fight.
Pair that off with getting hate on Darnus while on an upper level results in instant death, and you're going to have people who panic a lot.
Once the fight settles down it will seem a lot easier, but I wouldn't say the difficulty is easier than United We Stand. Different kind of difficulty that appeals to a different type of fighter.
I was actually quite comfortable in United We Stand. To Kill a Raven feels much more tense to me by comparison.
Has anything done bout this congestion?
We've been standing here, spamming enter for almost an hour and can't enter
It always like this everytime a new fight introduced
SE should fire the person who maintain this
Not to mention her friends is only a Small Portion of FFXIV.. ( which maybe 2-3 people) That are whining because The "Final Boss of FFXIV, in which in every other FF game a Final Boss isn't no Push Over" <---- Assuming this is the Final Final Boss... Since their is still more story to tell in the 7th Umbra Era Content. Final Bosses has to have some sort of Difficulty to it..
As DarthTaru said, and Beautifully said at that:
"Enjoy your wipes. Enjoy your progress. Enjoy your victory."
How dare Final Fantasy Bosses be a challenge to a minority of casual players!?
It's called a FINAL BATTLE for a reason, and if you're looking for piss easy boss battles, this isn't the game for you, nor your friends who quit (AGAIN) moments after wiping twice.
Pathetic.
Does anyone read patch notes, I friggin says there will be a hard mode.
Also lol at OP, fight isn't hard, your patch day fair weather Johnson friends just suck at this game.
Why do I say they suck?
CAUSE THEY DON'T F'ing PLAY!!!
That's like me walking onto a NFL football field and playing QB, and then bitching about "game too hard" when I lose every game that season. BET IF I PRACTICE SOME WITH MY TEAM WE MIGHT WIN A GAME OR TWO...
Jesus I can't believe I even responded to this thread, the level of disgust I feel right now is sickening.
EVERYONE WANTS A TROPHY!
to bad. It devalues the trophy for those that busted their asses to get it. If you want it, work for it. Don't expect everything to be handed to you just because you want it. Kids these days are a joke. I wanted to play ffxiv, so i worked, got money, and built a computer that could max it out. Now I can enjoy the graphics and storyline alike to the max. No one handed it to me, I worked for it. And similarly, I work for what I've accomplished in ffxiv. I don't want it handed to me. If you want it, earn it.
The fight isn't too hard by any stretch of the imagination. It would make Darnus a cheesy character if the fight were any easier.
I can understand people complaining about congestion, but if you can't handle that on the first day of the patch then you probably have issues with frustration in all aspects of your life.
That's their decision. if they aren't playing they are likely rusty.
what 'problems' are they referring to?
right now the real big problems with the game are
1) UI (2.0 will fix)
2) lack of content (getting better, 2.0 will add more content. including PvP and new story)
3) latency (engine is getting an overhaul to help reduce load on servers)
so i really don't know what they are viewing as the problem. because it sounds to me like they are fine with the real problems to the game right now. so...good bye? see you again?
data or it didn't happen. those stats don't seem right. i didn't see anymore people shouting in Ul'dah than i normally do. i didn't see anymore people running around than i normally do. i think it's more like 10% only return for a week. 30% full time casual. 50% semi-hardcore. 10% hardcore.
I really believe most of the community is semi-hardcore.
That being said i don't think the fight is imbalanced. if anything there is unrealistic expectations by certain players who mainly play certain other games that i won't mention. there is a drastic jump in difficulty for story fights begining at the magitek vanguard fight. but even this fight is pretty easy and can be duo-ed by skilled 50s. I myself trio-ed it with my 50 mnk and a 44BLM and a 44 CNJ.
Rather than blame SE for the difficulty i think you and your friends should look at yourselves and decide what you want. some have decided the game isn't for them. so move on. live and let live.
From what i can tell the fight is balanced for a group of 45+
Compared to In For Garuda Wakening which is balanced for a group of 40s this fight probably seems pretty daunting.
I agree with most of the people in the thread who are saying 'if they easy mode it, they aren't going to suddenly love the game' they are going to get bored again and just leave. if it's too easy there is nothing to work toward so you have no reason to try to get better and keep playing. if you won't want to work hard at the game, then well it's just not for you.
if you want to play causally you need to expect to miss out on a lot of content. casuals aren't the ones who continuously pay sub fees. it's the hardcore and semi-hardcores, because they will be the ones playing 4 or 5 years from now.
Darnus says that to the people that left XDQuote:
Pathetic.
if you dont want to work at something in the game than dont play the game. this really isnt that hard of a fight. it took me 5 tries to do it. i tried it twice with one party and then it disbanded. joined another and finished it in 3 runs. not only that but most of them ran in full AF and nq accessories.
I went in with a pickup group and we wiped a few times but then we got it done and i was rusty as anything because haven't been on Brd for a little while but we managed it so its not too tough, think it just needs people to take note and play their jobs, i got lucky with the party i was with they where really nice and all did their job! Not too tough at all...only thing i had was a bit of lag and that gave me a few problems but other than that was ok.
Might need to fess up and realize that we're the old dogs now. Gaming has been trending towards more casual for well going on a decade and those who were playing just FFXI this entire time have pretty much only been moderately effected by it, in comparison to the huge sweeping changes that's hit the gaming culture in general.
Those who enjoy a tough challenge is in a minority, and therefore we need to recognize our position as a niche. It shouldn't be hard, we've ALWAYS been a niche audience. That hasn't change. Gaming however is popularizing and the games are changing to fit the larger audience. That means it's no longer an exclusive club just for us hardcore geeks.
Do you remember when we first encountered hard games? We whined and moaned and complained just like they did. (Oh GAWD Battle toads. And who here's beaten Contra without the Konami Code?). We need to step back and realize, hey, they're in the position now, that we were at as kids - and give a little patience when it comes their complaints.
We grew up when games where harder than this, but that doesn't mean their concerns are wrong or invalid. The market is flooded with people new to the gaming scene and have a completely different perspective on it than we do. If we're going to guide the new generation of gaming into prosperity, we need to prove as veterans that we can lead the community into a positive and inclusive environment, not a bicker like grumpy farm grannies about days gone by.
This air of continual resentment - this isn't what we as gamers desired when we were kids. We were fans feeling awkward that we couldn't share our excitement and have a conversation with the 'outside world' about our favorite hobby.
Now that our numbers as gamers are growing, we have to accept the fact that hey, we need to understand their views are different, and try to incorporate them as best as possible. Incidents like theses just show that they're not as involved as we are yet. We need to remember that our tolerance (and eventual apatite) for difficulty grew over time, and teach them that patience.
To the OP: Reassure your friends that the fight is worth it. Get them impassioned that this battle is one they will remember for a lifetime if they manage to get it together and win. Never before has a game gone through this much of a reform with this much at stake, and the fight here represents the climax of all of that. It's been a struggle for the developers to make it this far and to push through both heavy critisim and long work hours to produce both a present and a future we will grow to love?
What is a little struggle on our part to focus on video game a bit harder so we can look back on this event when it's ancient history and say "We came, we struggled, we triumphed!"
The developers can't take all the legwork in getting people motivated to play, not given how strong a mark they bear on their past failures. Help em out and tell your friends to give it another go. Push until you win and I guarantee you that you won't regret it.
Yeah I know, right? Its gonna be hilarious when the 'Too-hardcore' turn on the 'Semi-hardcore' after the thousands of casuals just leave because their is no 'epic' content for them.
'SE, y u no make harder content to drive away these filthy 'Semi-hardcores'? xD
aaand then the servers shut down cause they don't have the money to run em :p
EDIT: ty churchill :) and Hyrist you're awesome for that comment :D
If you can beat Ifrit hard mode then you can beat this just take what you learned and use it in this battle just like when he summons the meteors its the same as ifrit summoning the Inferno Nails take them out quickly. And during the second battle just repeat and you'll be alright it takes practice nothin to get upset about. The bosses get tougher to see how well you do in battle the plan is to go in see what the boss is about get your butt kicked come out make a plan then put it to use. People chill just come back when you're ready to beat him
Except in this fight there's always a safe zone where your mages and ranged DD can stand where they are safe from every single one of this attacks. Just by standing in ONE location.
Out of range of this AoE knockback, but close enough to not get hit by his siphon HP/MP ability, but off to the side from his beam attack and forward enough where the pillars from the same attack don't hit you.
It's about knowing the fight. Server lag is a convenient excuse for people who need an excuse for failing.
The last fight in FF has always been a lot more difficult then the rest of the game.
lol @OP QQQQQ
Actually most FF have regular/boss enemies stronger than the final boss. FF7 can eithewr be Emarald or Ruby if you dont know what you are doing even then they have more HP than Safer Sephiroth, FF8 Omega weapon is harder than Ultamecia, FF10 Jecht was harder than yu yevon and if you leveled yuna your Aeons were tougher, and if you got all the monsters for the Arena Nemisis was the hardest, Shinryu in one of the older FFs was the harest boss.
FF11 all the actual mainstory bosses were cake walks next to , Pandemoniem Warden, Absolute Virtue, Proto Ultima (Kinda easy but he can screw you sometime.)
