Square Enix, it's time to come clean about your plans for the future

With respect, there's no need for conspiracy theories. It doesn't matter what CBU3 is or isn't doing behind the scenes; all that matters is the product you're paying for and whether you're satisfied with it. Regardless of whether CBU3 has been putting 100% or 1% of their effort towards FF14, it won't change the reality that the updates they've provided are the updates they've provided.

If you are satisfied with the product, sounds like a good reason to keep playing. If you're not satisfied with the product, sounds like a good reason to try something else instead. It's as simple as that.

Admittedly, though, it's better when the company you would like to express concerns to doesn't force you to do so by way of public appeal trialed by tribalism.

I don't really think there is much of a roadmap to be had unless SE is actually changing up the formula which I don't see happening. Like the WoW roadmap makes sense as a way for the devs to convey that this is what they are doing since it is a completely abnormal wow expansion with how much they have been putting out for it. We know they have an ambiguous 10 year plan for the game that we are already treading through and we know Yoshida has a general thought process behind how he wants the next few expansions to go story wise. I don't think there is much else to be said about it.

I still believe that FF16 affected what we have been getting in FF14 to some extent as I don't think it's possible for anyone to balance all the plates that Yoshida has spinning, but I am going to remain cautiously optimistic about what DT has in store based on his comments regarding wanting to bring exploration content back on top of the new things already added in EW on top of trying to add a new type of battle content as well. I am also gonna be meh about jobs until we see if we are getting ShB 3.0 with combat or if they are going to shake it up again in DT.

I don't know man. They started the FF16 project when Heavensward was the most recent expansion. I guess only time will tell.

True. But at the end of the day, they're a business and we're the consumers, so money talks. If you want for them to better respond to a direction you dont like the game is going, you do yourself and SE a favor by unsubbing. Otherwise your continued sub means that you're still generally satisfied with the product and that you're generally ok with the current game.

This already happened before with how they lost so much business with 1.0 and they were left with finally responding to feedback.

Perhaps, but also at the end of the day, the situation isn't always so distinctly binary; yes or no, hate or love, all or nothing. Sometimes you like a thing but don't like things about it, and so you provide feedback and hope it gets better. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't, sometimes a Japanese man gets more rings after he tells a portion of his consumerbase that they should go play ultimate [if they want to feel like they're playing the game].
At some point, more changes come in and one of them becomes the straw for the camel's back and then we leave because we've had enough.

I guess if you're trying to tell me that any sort of need to provide feedback should be avoided in favor of just dropping the product entirely, then I would tell you not to worry your pretty little head about it because we will, eventually, when that time comes. Though I would then question why you haven't left, because you have also felt the need to provide feedback, and have provided in turn. So by all rights, you should have fucked off just as much as the rest of us should have.

But if you're not trying to tell me that, then I'm not sure why you're so intent on trying to spur binary choices such as "like it and shut up" or "don't like it and leave." I sincerely doubt it has anything to do with some kind of savior complex you would come up with if I didn't write this particular sentence, but I suppose I would believe it if you were to tell me that you're tired of seeing the feedback and the arguments, to which I would then say: try to not take things so heavily to the heart regarding opinions about things that have little, if anything, to do with you and especially by people you know almost nothing about.

Frankly, this forum would be a lot better if everyone just let those who have feedback provide it and leave the feedback be, whether they disagree with it, how it's written, what it's about, who it's from, or not. But everyone has pennies-worth of thoughts to give about everything, which leads to the constant bickering and eventual censorship of feedback without it ever having to even reach the company, which is probably what they wanted in the first place.

I am not that type of MMO player that puts up with boring systems just because the rewards are okay. Conversely, if content is fun I don't care about rewards. Fun is its own reward.

FATEs are nothing.

You go in, press your AoE #1 and #2 and then leave. It's sad that people think that's good content. I'm not even being snarky. As I said, I honestly believe MMO players have the lowest standards.

I still firmly believe of just providing feedback. Somebody gotta still like the game enough to stay and voice their concerns at the end of the day otherwise how would the devs know what to fix? We cant forget that its thanks to those dedicated people on copium during the 1.0 days that 2.0 even happened, but it was also thanks to the mass of people who voted with their money to stop playing FFXIV that help drive SE to improve the game as well.

tl;dr we need both kinds of people in order to help improve the game. So if anybody ever fits in either criteria that Ive listed then do what you gotta do. You pay to play the game if its good to you, you stop playing and paying if the game is just outright bad.

That cue to unsub popped once post-Heavensward came abound and some of CBUIII's core members started working on FFXVI.

And if you need to have an example to why "just unsub" if you're just wholefully unsatisfied with the state of the game. Look at World of Warcraft during Shadowlands where people just finally got fed up with the expansion and migrated to other MMOs forcing Blizzard to finally make some wanted changes to the game in the last patch for it and in Dragonflight.

The point of FATEs is to have emergent open world engagements that allow for ad-hoc temporary cooperative relationships between players as we otherwise chug along through otherwise solo content. Not everything needs to be farmable in perpetuity to be a valid and useful piece of gameplay.

If CBU3 had started working on the next MMO ... that's a good thing. As much as I like FF14, I hope I won't be playing it still in another 10 years, and very much want to try to play something new. The issue is SE is currently "the only" company that I have any faith in producing and maintaining a decent MMO long term.

FF14 eventually will buckle under its own weight. For example, in 10 years we will have at least 8 more classes, I don't see how feasible, or at least, business feasible to maintain that kind of balancing. The game obvious also have some hardwall that I don't think will be possible to overcome. I think I can still play video game for another 25-30 years, I'm not just looking at what MMO I have to play in the next 5 years, but 10 and beyond, and I hope it won't still be FF14. And if the price to have the next FFMMO is to have less content for FF14, that's the price I'm happy to pay.

Also, my status of sub or unsub has nothing to do with "who" SE put on the game, although there maybe some correlation. But ultimately I sub because there are things I want to play, luckily, the type of content I enjoy in FF14 seem to be the bread and butter of the game, so I'm still good.

chances are they are ALWAYS working on other games. Yoshi said he would like do more mainline Final Fantasy games. is that clear enough for you? it is clear that in his perspective, he currently has enough bandwidth to do so with the teams he has under him. Final Fantasy may be the only horse in your stable, but he has a couple more, and seems to think that he can fit more in.

I mean, its a pretty common thing in the gaming industry especially when you're part of a company that produces many games. People juggle multiple projects. This was even more so the case back during the early days of gaming where just in the lifespan of 6 or so years during the SNES and PS1 era we had 6 FF games all mostly coming from the same group of people working on them.

Its just blatant ignorace to believe that any development studio just sticks to one game project at a time. Thats not how the business works and has never been this way. You wont get anything done or released if you just stick to one game at a time.

Fun Fact - Did you know FFXI's development started back in 1999? Guess what Sakaguchi and some of his team members also worked and released in between that time frame to 2001; yeah FFIX and FFX. Again, game developers juggle multiple projects all the time.

Even I dont even do actual savage content and stuff and I know for a fact that the system is MADE by design to keep people subscribed, if you want to gear another job to savage gear, it takes literally months and months

That's me. I'm "happy enough" with the game (for the most part). But I'm not devoted enough to keep up or follow the game like a "fan" would, the total number of live letter, community event, fanfest I had attended is one big massive "zero" in the 10 years I've been playing the game. I usually only catch up with some summarize vid or 2nd-hand knowledge Hell, I don't even read the majority of the patch note most of the time.

I think the reason why these kind of discussion is often so toxic is because people assumed only 2 camps: either you're a devoted fan to the game or you're part of the doomsayer cult, yet I bet most players are just don't care enough to be in either one of those. Just like politic, the discussion are controlled by the most vocal and loudest extreme of the left and the right, yet the biggest voting block is the often quiet independent. In this case, the millions of people who leisurely spending their time inside the game.

Keep up with ... what? Exactly? The whole tier is designed to be clear day 1 in crafted gears, which get dirt cheap over time. SWe're into the 8th(?) week of savage now? And guess what, plenty of people still learning the fight, I still see plenty clear parties in PF. Almost every week I run into someone trying to get a fresh alt through savage. Most party in the early floor don't even put a ilvl lock, assuming you can be arse to spend maybe an hours to watch a vid and a couple hour to learn the fight, you can start clearing savage right now. 2 months after it was released.

So if it's not clear, what else are you keeping up with? BiS? That's just to keep up with cute number on a third party website, and it's not the game's fault some players feel the need to impress people they'll never meet in real life for internet brownie point. Outside of Ultimate, BiS has never been a thing that the game imposes on the players, that's just a mental thing that a certain section of the community force on themselves, and I don't think it's fair to fault the game for that.

No it's not. You don't need the raid or savage gear to keep up with the next patch because of tomestone/crafted/new dungeon gear which anyone can get easily, which will meet the very minimal ilv requirements to do the next batch of patch msq and endgame content.

Savage gear is literally there to fill the endless sense of dopamine on the players who want to see big numbers and efficiency for doing the optional harder content that is optional.

If anything the only thing that's being forced is the player itself for valuing Savage gear so highly in a game that lacks meaty endgame hard content that requires to put in a lot of work or effort to keep with ilvs to do most of the content casuals can already access.

Players should be rewarded for spending the time and effort, and working as a team, to clear the most difficult content. So, it has a valid function of existing and to those players it isn't irrelevant.

Surprised in XIV that it isn't more powerful than other games. Raiders v. Casuals in other games I've played had a massive chasm in gear. (Of course the raid content vs. casual content also had a massive chasm in difficulty.)

You still haven't proven how I'm wrong. Entry for anabesios savage is ilv.630 which is achievable by having a job filled with crafted gear and or comedy tomestone gear (which I know it's currency is capped weekly) but the fact that anyone can enter this patches raid tier without having to do the previous raid tier proves my point how raid gear isn't relevant long enough in the patch cycle.

Especially as you have been contesting how this game lacks meaningful endgame content and doesn't retain the player enough for their sub right?

Or are you taking back that argument?

I've savage raided the 1st pandemonium raid tier and gave up after the 3rd week because of how realizing how stupid the loot system is.

And again you fail to tell me how savage is holding you hostage when the min.ilv for every raid is achievable without having a single savage gear piece? And bringing this to normal raids, the ilv discrepancy is even more loose since the bar is lowered. That's the majority of the game's endgame content. Which again Criterion failed in attracting hard-core players with its rewards and Ultimates come every once in a blue moon.

I think the only way koros would disappear is if people didn't post in his threads. People know he insults people and only doing these threads to bait people to respond and insult others but people keep going to his threads and reacting which is what he wants. but even then their methods are unhealthy...there are trolls who do it here and there...but Koros and the alt army everyday all times of the day....yeah you could say it takes minutes out of the day but its the consistency...its like this is the only thing they do in their time.
