4.35 vs 6.35

It is fascinating the amount of times people are called ‘White Knights’ simply because they are not critical of specific aspects of the game, or dare defend things other may dislike. Its a big difference between that and blindy decreeing the game can do no wrong, and honestly the latter seems rather rare on this forum.

It really feels like they aren’t that different, I can’t know of course nor am I saying its true, but it certainly gives vibes of “same person” type of situation or running in the same discord.

There’s a group on the forum which you’ll notice only ever reply to eachother’s forum threads and nothing/noone else, massively obsessed with the story and high on the belief they could have written a better one, their entire purpose is to troll and get people angry to a point where they might write a not so nice argument back from being provoked and in turn get reported, so better just ignore them, still funny when people take them seriously though.

The dime will hit the ground when people realize what kind of stuff the world has been through... and also it MAY end asking themself questions about that it will take time to catch up the right track again.

Developing games and the likes all the QA and everything to it, is not somethign you do in your moms basement, neither is running actual servers... and nope these servers is not like dedicated CS of BF dedicated servers... that we used to run back in the day for multiple people gaming.

People hate bits of a lot of things, better remove everything! We'll just have 50 hours text based visual novel and limited housing moving forward.

It looked brown and dull, but I wouldn't call it boring. The Critical Engagements are amazing, and I WISH we had that level of dedication in FATEs, but FATEs will continue to die and Yoshi they'll learn nothing. Just because something can be improved on, doesn't mean it should be scrapped altogether. Maybe learn and make it better for once?

XIV has a problem of often making systems with little return value, or they have some small problems that could be fixed but ignore it. So instead of resolving those, they just think players hate the whole thing and never spend any amount of time fixing it up.

They probably think we hate Portraits too, but fact is - It's so jank that most of us can't really use them effectively. So they'll go on thinking we don't want them and then pull dev time from it.

I found it boring, dull and very brown. I'd never be able to do a CE, so that was meaningless to me. I did enough to get my triad cards and left.

Eureka, on the other hand, was a much better experience. And much more colorful.

I'm not going to bother with portraits, so no loss for me.

Bozja is just Eureka with less color. And less future-proofing.

Since you mentioned the technicality, 4.36 was an entire month after 4.35, which on these forums may as well be an eternity between content drops. So they didn't drop at the same time. Looking at the patch notes for 4.35, there's a lot that did drop at that point that is very similar to what's on the docket for 6.35.

"We got a relic zone in 4.36!" Oh, you mean Eureka Pagos? The relic zone that is hated by almost everyone? Hmm, try better next time.

"The food tasted just as bad yesterday! What did you expect!?"

I don't KNOW, I guess I expected it to taste better the next time. I assumed the first time was just an error on someone's part or a bad tray. Is that insane?
Covid happened 3 years ago by this point. You could feel it's effect on Shadowbringers as the patches also seemed to stretch for far too long. Why is EW shaping up to be the same?

You are 100% right on this. They always release the grindy relic last, when it should come first if anything. It can be something people can work on and would make the long patch cycles actually more bearable.
Instead the content comes when the expansion is almost over and most people have stopped playing until the next one.

I mean, when I look back at the 4.35/36 patch notes and compare them to now, the only real difference I can see is that back then there was Eureka.

Is that the big content disparity people are upset about? Cause if so I feel like the more accurate complaint would be "this relic quest doesn't have it's own zone".

It probably would be the more accurate complaint and this whole thing feels like a very roundabout way of coming back to the whole issue some have with the relic being tied to Hildi. It was already said before launch that they wanted to get their money's worth out of Hildi, especially with how much people wanted to see him return.

We're here in this different setting. Deal with it ... or don't.

FFXI was instanced in the exact same manner XIV is... Every area was its own zone with a loading screen to enter it.

Not everyone did. Quite a lot of people consider it an improvement over Eureka and praised the additions and concepts it had. It just required better future-proofing and incentives, and though it added stuff it didn't stray too far from the usual mold we had seen before.

The brown is to be expected: it's a warzone in the middle of a Ground Zero. Do you expect warzones to be your average everyday Thavnairian rainbow?

And only one thing Bozja as a whole had was about as reviled as Pagos was, and that was the decision to make CLL mandatory for the relic progression.

I didn't hate bozja, I thought it was fine. I didn't hate eureka either.

I hated aspects of Bozja, but Eureka was only fun at the beginning. Once I realized Pagos and Pyros were more of the same I quit and only cleared during Shadowbringers.

But o: Even though there definitely WERE aspects that were grossly criticised about Bozja and people who just overall didn't (and likely still don't), the amount of vitriol aimed at it wasn't as bad as there was for Eureka. Heck, when Bozja came out, threads and people complaining about it were often called out for being unfair and for not learning from Eureka. Whereas Eureka had people agree more readily with that hate.

Plenty of stuff was bad about Bozja, both at launch and later iterations. CLL was the worst, sure, but there were people already complaining about future-proofing, it being a glorified FATE hunting area, Duels being sniped, some CEs being unfair, stuff not loading right, Lost Actions being grossly unintuitive (which I never understood bc the game explains them to you early on and demands you check a box saying "I get this"), Delubrum Reginae being a locked out 24-man, people being kicked from groups for not having an optimal setup... and yes, even BROWN. But it's FF12 mixed with FFType-0, it's literally "Brown: the Game" mixed with "Anime Warzone Depression Train", the lack of colour is to be expected.

But all these things ended up being minor, as the enjoyment overall seemed to match the more favourable reviews. It took a lot for Eureka to start being favourable, and by that point the devs were still getting bombarded with "it's bad, change the design". To the point Hydatos is literally just a slab with no corridors :|

All this talk of brown makes me wonder what atrocities were committed with tools in order to make Bozja "look better". :D

I didn't rate Eureka, and I still haven't finished it after years.
Bozja on the other hand was pretty cool, it fixed most of the issues Eureka had.
They could have taken it further this expansion, but we got Island Sanctuary instead. It's not a like for like trade, so it's not easy to judge, but I'd probably have preferred another relic zone.

Would have been nice if Criterion Dungeons made up for it in some way though. Most complaints are about the reward system, so maybe it should have awarded Relic Armour.

Still, that's not a foregone conclusion. We should be getting three Variant/Criterions right? There's the possibility of using the currencies form all three Dungeons to purchase Relic Armour maybe?
An upgrade system like Bozja would have been cool, but would require three full armour sets. This way they could go all in on job-specific gear maybe.

What, from the Dev team? Or are you asking about mods?
Because a quick looksie-doodle on the internet would reveal that there aren't any environment-altering mods (at least none that can be found easily, I'm not deep-diving for this), and the Devs are still working on planting that grass everywhere (so stay tuned as this never develops for Bozja).

Yes, mods like gshade. I was thinking of people's mindset with fighting off the blandness and how awful bozja must actually look with some of those presets running. It's just an idle curiosity. I don't need to know.

Everything syncs down, but there's no materia slot to render useless. The final relic is also great for the next cap raise.
