First and foremost that comes to mind is GW2. Each character is tagged with a database. That database has every single piece of gear in the game referenced in it. A listing becomes active (you can use the glam) if that particular piece of gear crosses your hands even just ONCE. Same thing is done with mat storage. Bank storage has a separate area for mat storage where every single material in the game has a slot. When you find a mat it can be put in the appropriate slot. Same thing with dyes. All dyes show up in the character's database but only those for which you have acquired that dye are active. Active dye slots means you can use that dye on the fly. No further purchase of that dye is necessary. Oh, and I forgot to mention that most if not all gear in GW2 is dyeable with many pieces having TWO separate dye channels.
