All up for it. Make him play the most trash parts of the game to see what he did.
All up for it. Make him play the most trash parts of the game to see what he did.
I didn't get to play with YoshiP during the ARR launch, but he played Black Mage on controller with the next table during the Titan Challenge. Of course, it's his baby since the beginning and always will be. The job can never be the best nor can it ever be behind. Has a pretty good quality of life at 90, real fluid job.
Foxclon is a White Mage main. He posts his farming ventures on twitter a lot so he does play when he's not working quite a bit. I just look at Sage as the designers seem to understand what people want, just the battle content team needs to align more content that uses the full kit like often, and stop hand holding casual content too much. We'll see what ultimate is on the heal test scale.
This would just mean that that one healer would be awesome, it wouldn't really save healers as a role.
As it is currently he plays BLM, and it's well designed, the other DPS not so much anymore.
->Whm was released with misery potency unadjusted for the new glare, holy missing the 1,5 cast to weave heals, lilybell being less powerful than other equivalent heals and with the lowest hps, dps and worst mp management. Idk how much foxclon mains it but either he actually doesn't main it and is unaware of the disjointed mess they created or he has no saying in job design cause no Whm main that knows his shit on earth would have greenlit 6.0 Whm. (Same with 4.0 Whm and 5.0 to some extent)
->People were asking for more offensive options and our feedback to be acknowledged, Sage has the same offensive actions as Whm which was never considered an ofensive healer (and now even less than whm since misery can be a gain) and in the healing department is a Sch clone with free Aetherflow heals. That coudn't be more far from what people was asking for so no, Sage if anything show that either they don't know what people want or outright refuse to do it. The feedback, other of the things healer mains were asking for, hasn't been acknowledge either with Yoshi-p statements at the beggining of EW about not increasing ofensive actions and esentially telling us "go play Sage" which as said before doesn't tackle any problem and now with the recent "go play ultimate" which once again doesn't solve absolutely anything.
As harsh as this may sound they need to get their head out of their ass when it comes to healers and start giving it the same treatment they do with dps instead of being hell bent on making the job so simple even a monkey coudn't fail
Almost every group I get into that consists of more than 4 people healers won't heal and dps end up dying every single time. It's insane the amount of times I have died in a group when doing mechanics just not being healed due to over all alliance damage being done to the group. I died 9 times in one group I would wait til there was no big splash damage get up after raise not get healed just to die again over and over and over this is all the while I am doing all the mechanics and avoiding everything. These healers I keep getting into groups with just don't care to heal and it's frustrating because a lot of people just use it as a get Q faster scenario and could careless about the party.
We should tie Yoshi-P to a chair like that one scene in A Clockwork Orange except he’s forced to watch healer gameplay instead of brainwashing stuff. He’ll be physically unable to let a job have less than 20 dps buttons ever again.
Nah it's not the battle content that is the issue, it's very much the gameplay itself, and this has been discussed an innumerable amount of times. No matter how hard, it'll always be about optimizing the highest number of glare/broil/dosis/malefic you do, and there's no alternative.
In essence, sage is perfection to me, it shields and heals by dpsing, which is my kind of gameplay and is all I could ask for (along with a pet healer but the pet became a mere aura a while ago). But it's still dosis spam.
In the current savage you can get away with using half of your CDs, and the next ultimate might require some more, but that won't change the clunky foundation.
I've brought this up a few times, but Toxikon being oGCD could be a simple game changer, in the same line that Misery was made dps neutral. And suddenly you heal to do dmg and don't lose any doing so. There might be overhealing or overtuning for burst phases but you get the idea. There's an infinite number of things they could do but they won't even acknowledge healer gameplay issues.
I just want to see him do it to fully understand that healers are frustrated that they essentially have 2 buttons (1 really) to do the MSQ with from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
It's a disgrace on the job design team that it's languished like this for 4+ years.
I think a year is too short. Also agree with making him playing Hrothgar. And it can't be on a development server.
Has anyone compiled a comprehensive list of all the things the community wants Yoshi-P to do yet? Because I'd pay real money to read it.
there is one but its kind of outdated and in my opinion bloaed with more irrelevant stuff like glamour options
I am also in support of the OPs proposition. Even if only for Yoshi to drop the mic, waving double birds while back-stepping to the stage's exit Ken Jeong style after completing the year and not changing a thing.
Probably a good thing I'm not a producer/developer.
i disagree. "summary" implies brevity, and brevity necessitates to highlight only the most important bits. else it would be Extensive List Of Healer Issues.
personal feelings aside, are you planning to make a new post or edit the existing one? if youre not motivated i could maybe post one myself using yours as a template. therse no pms here but theres pms in game i guess lol
Glamour is also one imporant piece while we're at it. They just keep releasing dresses with frills and tidbits and whatnot. The latest tomestones 590 gear had a plated chest but it still had to be a dress in the end.
I agree with this and the Hrothgar thread. Guy really needs to learn the struggle of both the Hrothgar race limitation and the plight of the homogenized healers so both can be fixed properly. :/
Inb4 he actually already played a healer, and the current situation fitted how he envisioned a healer /giggle
Although we can almost guarantee that he's at least played as a healer, it's a little different to play as a healer "once in a while" as opposed to playing one exclusively through all content, right?
I honestly do wonder if his decision-making would be altered for all jobs if he just played each one from the beginning of the game to the end, without the aid of development tools (although this would take forever, so I doubt he ever would).
The man plays a black mage lala exclusively. You can't be this based and also be put in charge of balancing
Definitions of summary aside, it was going to be editing the current one.
The entire plan of it was to update it as the patches came and went as different issues either got addressed or got added.
Not that it matters much given SE doesn't listen. Though I should warn you that since I've unsubbed out of frustration, you'll need to maintain it 3 weeks today :P
Signed. Also add having to do so on a brand new hrothgar character, too. Just for extra suffering.
Wait wait.....let me get this straight first.......
You want him to take the DPS wheels off but yet want more DPS options on a healing job?
Yes, cause right now dpsing is the vast majority of what we do yet most of it is just 1 button spam. Since Yoshi-p seems so fixed on that idea of healers working (with a lot of dismissal or outright wrong answers/justifications in the past) some feel that experience those healer by himself would show its design flaws.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sbWubxOTUWU Just dropping this here cause there is so much truth here.
I fully agree with this petition. Let him see how fun it is to play a "healer''.
Yeah stance dances were meh for most classes, both Tank and healer.
Only class I think it could have been salvaged on was WAR because of how some skills changed depending on stance.
cleric stance should just stay dead.
Most of the healers I get in regular content are utterly terrible.
They let people die, cause wipes, fail to heal, don't know how to use their buttons, and the whole group grinds to a halt.
It's harder to carry over bad healers than it is anyone else.
So making the healer role harder than it already is will cause people to quit the game because they keep having terrible experiences due to bad healers.
You may think the kit is boring, but it's that way to keep it easy. And as easy as it is, it's still too hard for most healers to use it correctly.
But people arent saying healers should be difficult. Just a bit more substantial. Honestly really all they need is 1 or 2 more buttons for extra dps options and we wouldnt be having this conversation.
Ok probably there will still be some salty healers being salty anyway but what I said above goes a long way for current veteran healers to feel more engaged.
I think the real problem is the kit healers have is so bloated it makes it even more confusing for new players to know which button is the right one to press. Also if the healer is struggling to keep the group up, adding more complexity to the dps "rotation" isn't going to effect them at all since they are spending their time (or should be) healing instead of dpsing. All it does is make it so that people that understand how to effectively use the healing kit and can dps have more engagement for the class that they are playing.
You really think those players fail because the dps kit? for real? Those people simply don't know their kit that's all, is not a fault of the kit but themselves and the lackluster tutorials of the game
I'll rephrase it since you main drg. Do you think the players who do 2k dps as drg at lv90 do that bad because they're worried optimizing their cooldowns? The answer is no, they simply failed to learn their kit or didn't bother to begin with, same with healers but I don't see people saying dps should be boring to keep it easy and prevent them from failing because this argument:
Can be applied to literallly every single role as most of the players simply are...not precisely the most skilled, as the game has bad tutorials and don't present any challenge that forces them to learnQuote:
the kit is boring, but it's that way to keep it easy. And as easy as it is, it's still too hard for most healers to use it correctly.
his tank can only be dark knights too
So let's scrape the majority of dps kits because a lot of dps I get in DF are terrible and don't use their skills even remotely properly. We should really keep it easy, maybe just have a single 123 combo and one oGCD. Because someone being bad means that everyone else should suffer, that is how good games are designed... right?
And tanks should only get a 123 combo and one mitigation taht constantly blinks and lights up and lasts for 10min when pressed because apparently it's really difficult as a tank to use their mitigation so better make it eat crayon-level easy. Let all the people who are able to do more than 123 suffer.
If you really believe that 2 dps buttons are the problem, you're completely deluded. More dps buttons won't make healing harder. A higher skill ceiling won't make the basics harder.
Has it ever occured to you that you could scrape every dps button and some healers would still fail to heal because they fail to read their tooltips, put skills on their hotbar and keep their focus on the fight instead of their cat licking its paws in the background?
If I got a Gil for every person saying "N-n-noooo!! More deeps buttons means all the terrible healers will be even MORE terrible and quit and then who will fill muh roulettes and babysits me? Nobody will be able to HEAL if you add a dot or something!" I'd be the richest person on my server, if not DC ....
The issue isn't that healing is hard, the issue is that the game doesn't outright state for healers to DPS while waiting to heal again and does a pretty lowbar job of explaining things in general in terms of HOW to heal.
Also, if you're having an awful time with healers, queue with friends or FC mates instead of allowing random people to ruin your time. Can also always pick up the healer role and just do the job yourself as well. Be the change you want to see and all of that jazz.
