Well what do you want me to say? "Nooooo pls don't leave or I'll cry!" Dude, there's a million other games to play. If you're legit no longer having fun you won't be announcing you're leaving for pity points, you'll just leave.
And yeah, passive aggressive messages lead to passive aggressive response, heh.
On the flip side I have near 14,000 hours and still find enjoyment in this game and welcome the job changes. More buttons doesn’t equal complexity and it certain doesn’t mean depth or challenge. I rarely touch Savage content and mostly participate in DF runs, 24 man content and the occasional Normal Raid once a week. It’s enough content to hold me as my only mmo and I don’t really care if it’s challenging or not I just enjoy it.
WOOT 6.1 expert roulette is 1 dungeon again.
Oh wait they changed it. It's all 4 dungeons.
I want to address this one because it was the worst idea that SE had when making 1.0, it put them in competition with themselves by making XIV and XI appeal to the same playerbase. Right now they have 2 MMOs that are consistently profitable by making XIV and XI very different.
Saddest thing is that button bloat hasn't been a problem since Heavensward. And it was a pretty big problem then! But I think they did a very good job of addressing it in ShB and even StB. But then they made it worse in EW and proceeded to "fix" it by removing skills people like instead of the good solution they already came up with of turning single-target skills into AoEs with fall-off.
Like... why???
I mean, we all know why, but why.
It is the Year 2032 and the new FFXIV expansion 'Tataru's Revengeance' is about to drop. The patch notes are revealed...every job now has a one button rotation. With optional toggle.
That would be because thanks to a certain mass bandwagon people that don't like mmos are now playing the mmo and the developers are listening to people that don't like the genre of their game. Pressing more than 3 buttons is too hard, plz change. I have to interact with other players in the online game, plz change. etc.
It failed for numerous reasons but it wasn't the people, it was the original dev not listening to player base, even YoshiP said this on the 1st anniversary on the 18th floor event in game when he apologized for not listening to the us the players and now they are going full circle and starting to ignore the player base. The game was riddle with everything from only being able to play for a certain amount at start, to the horrendous latency issue with the UI and other technical issues all because a director that is no longer there did not want to listen. The classes are becoming to homogenize honestly and people have a right to voice their frustrations. I mean take a look and read through the JP side of things. THe sentiment is the same about the SAM and NIN changes. The devs are not in touch with the players.
For SAM they removed one button and look at the reaction it has gotten. That makes no sense. I'd get it if people were happy who wanted to play SAM but thought it was too complex and SE removed like 4 or 5 buttons and made some abilities auto switch to the next in line. Theres no way the people for this change actually played SAM, were bad at it and the one thing stopping them from doing good was 1 button. Also its a very cool button that added some depth to resource management and looked cool. Theres better ways to go about button bloat but removing abilities that help with class identity are not the way.
I really don't think that you need to be a hardcore player to manage your base rotation for any of the Jobs.
And people who only play casual content don't even need to do it, and they're never going to engage with content where it even matters.
A ton of SAM players never use Higanbana and the list goes on for SAM and other jobs too I don't think that means that we need to remove stuff just so that they can perform closer to people who actually do play properly.
It doesn't even matter to anyone other than people who do the more difficult content so why should it be dictated by people who basically don't make an effort at all and just want to see the MSQ and/ or play casually?
Even so I don't think that casual players are as bad as people sometimes say even tho I am using the word here myself.
I think most casual players are fully capable of learning their rotations and clearing Extremes at least and most if not all floors in Savage.
It feels more like the game is going in the direction of appealing to people who don't even want to try and learn, like the response is to just remove and dumb things down in response.
Okay this had me cackling like an idiot.

DPS main but I LOVED AST up until they ripped all our cards and time magic from us. Now it feels like an empty shell of a job ever since. SMN too, gutted. It’s insulting, and nauseating. I started super fresh mid HW and maxed every job through ShB, and never once did I sit back and say “oh wow wish they’d make this job or rotation easier, this is SOOO hard to comprehend for my feeble brain!!!” Like give me a break. Quit insulting the player base. We are not morons. Knock it off.
