I don't understand how it was meant to satisfy each group. The casuals don't have the time to put in for such horrendous drop rates, so they're not going to be able to dedicate as much time to getting anything from the raids. The hardcore spam the content so much that they begin to loathe and burn out in a week or two. This type of content is simply bad. The dungeons themselves are fine, but I don't see this process flying in 2.0
Would definitely be taking a long break if the trend continues.
Can we add the whole speed run thing to the hated list too?
Doing two runs in the same amount of time should be its own reward, not the requirement for another 1%
wouldnt need a lock out if they gave the bosses alittle bit of AI cuz there patterns are to easy.
or would be better if there was pre-requsitite U/U items to get before doing the fight.
ALL instances need level caps in 2.0, just look at toto rak abuse for gaining GC seals right now talk about spamming when your lv50 in a lv25+ dungeon.
Because there's nothing else to do? Seriously if SE doesn't do something the game is gonna flop because of their lazyness with these events. I'm pretty sure the reason a lot of players have stuck with the game is hinging on what 2.0 brings and a loyalty to SE. If this was any other publisher outside of maybe blizzard I doubt we be talking about this stuff right now.
This whole argument about people being loot whores and QQ'ing about drop rates because they can't have elite gear. No just no.... people are just becoming fed up with lazy content. Please someone point to any of the content available to us and tell me it's creative, refreshing, and challenging.... I bet no one can. As I've said SE has the capabilities to give players something better then speed runs. A lot of people want challenging content that has layers of difficulty to it. There's something wrong when a player base can figure out how to dumb down content within hours. Where's the Salvage layer of difficulty with multiple paths and turns to take to pop certain NM's? Wheres the NM chains of sky and sea where we had to figure out how to pop the NM's(after exploring and finding the base NM's) Content such as this could easily occupy players for months without fail after fail(each time you step into the event you try something new each time)Currently the game feels like yoshi said "Make it like wow!" and slapped a for sell sticker on it><I'm not asking for a copy paste of these events mind you, but was using them as examples of what is possible, and why people are fed up.
As for the comments about slowing down and making the game a challenge for myself... I'm human. I think logically and for me purposely slowing myself down or hindering myself doesn't make sense. I'm the type that likes to give my 100% whenever I do something. I also like to make use of my time if I can try to stay busy. Telling someone like me to slowdown is just not possible when people like me thrive on pressure. And regardless of what people may think, there are others like me who (shocker) can be casual as well. There's also no reason to try different strategies with the current endgame content. What works works, it's not the player bases fault for burning through content when the content is pretty generic and linear.
I can understand that, but it isn't our fault that they're having to redo the game. That shouldn't be an excuse to justify it imo.
The thing is there can be better solutions than the rinse and repeat. Telling people to just walk away isn't the solution. We all want the game to be great and we can only help make it better by adding our input and thoughts on it. If we all walk away and come back we will still have the same "go in and spam this so you can hope to get something with luck" content over and over.
I'm not so much frustrated with SE then I'm frustrated with the people being "ok" with what SE is giving us. Cause if SE see's us as being ok with what they are giving us, we'll get more and more half ass content in the future. I realize all we have atm is to tide us over till 2.0 launches, but at the same time I want people to encourage SE to give us something unique to make FFXIV stand on it's own.
I think SE is doing all that they can with the time frame given. At the end of the day, it's not about the current players. It's about 2.0. If everyone hates content that's currently in the game, then 2.0 won't have it. But don't expect it to be fixed in Patch 1.22b.
I'm not sure if I agree with everything, I'd probably have to reread. But I concur with the bit about luck. This game, as of now, rewards luck, not skill. It needs to be a system that rewards skill, maybe rewarding totems(with the current system). And it is very repetitive. At the same time, they can't just make runs that occur every week, or two weeks. There has to be a mix. How boring is it only doing a dungeon once a week? I'm not sure what they could do, but I know that forum post help dramatically, keep it going.
I agree this game needs to kill and bury the "reward for luck, not effort" horsesh*t, though I'm still on the fence about lockouts. The biggest problem I see with them is if you have an odd number of LS members and can't make a 2nd party those who aren't in the main party are pretty much SoL for stuff to do that night.
I guess in a sense a good middle ground would be if you win the fight you're "locked out" of the chest, but those that didn't get the kill will get their's at the end of the fight. Though how that would work in a raid is beyond me.
You think they are doing all they can, but you don't know that they are and adding something simple as a token for every win and after 100 accumulated will get you a prize could be there. That system is there for ifrit. Not to begin with so it was added in. It's there for moogles and automatically for garuda. So you can't say that they don't have time to do something like that. Again, there could be better solutions.
I don't hate it. I do enjoy doing CC and AV myself and there is no guarantee that things will be different in 2.0. And if everyone hushed up about it nothing would ever change.
There was an idea somewhere in the thread about limiting the number of items you get during a certain period, but still let you do the dungeon/content.
Of course, best case-scenario would be content so hard that even by spamming it everyday you would only beat it a couple of times at best (or none at all!)
Ok maybe there is some skill but from what I have experienced its not about skill. Its zerg every damn thing as fast as you can. That is where the problem is. Some may not like this but I will say it. FFXI when you did dynamis players had to do there jobs, but in FFXIV its just zerg anything and everything. The issue we have in FFXIV is that we are a party of 8, we can group boat load of mobs and just zerg them down. We have barely any crowd control, let alone debuffs. Now thm/blm, cnj/whm have a few debuffs but yet they are not very effective as if it was a normal debuff like dia, bio etc. The flare debuff is a 2 edge sword just like all the debuffs we have now. I cant speak for everyone but I would love something like dynamis or on the lines of it, where drops WOULD drop and yes you need to go in after a lock out period to farm again.
FFXIV is all about luck nothing else. Yes there should be some luck in every game but there also needs to be content that players can do over without have to spam it 600 times just to get a drop. I have done all the fights and it is exactly the same damn thing!!! SPAM!!!! For what some gear that has a really shitty drop rate. I have suggested that content be point based. This content players would earn points based on different conditions. Now once said players have enough points they can go to the npc and use said point to buy what they want. This type of content would satisfy 2 things. #1 Players are seeing progress, and #2 We dont have to deal with luck based drops for every piece of content that is released. This also provides long term playability for all players hardcore as well as casuals.
Now finally SE and some players can sit here and make EXCUSSES all they want as to why this or that cant be done, but at the end of the day it's still an EXCUSS!! If in fact SE had not launched FFXIV when they did they would not be in the position they are in now. In the end it is their fault and theit fault alone and they need to take responsibility for their error. Now again players and SE can sit here and say well SE is taking responsibility (maybe to some extent they are) but in the end when new content is released it's still the same crap as before. Meaning more spamming and more lucked based content with what a 0.01% at a drop (maybe a little higher I dont know exactly).
Bottom line SE screwed up big time, because of just wanting to make money, and it's now on their shoulders to get this right because they wont have a 3rd chance if 2.0 flops. Now hopefully the content in 2.0 will offer a challenge as well as not being so luck based, but only time will tell.
I just want them to get rid of speed runs and negate much of the randomness factor. I would rather they got rid of speed runs though, its not fun having to optimize a set-up and exclude others just for the sake of a speed run.
YEEEEEEEEEEE!!!
FIX THE F***ING DROP RATE DUDES!!!!
SOOOOOOOOOOOO MANY HOURS IN THE TWO DUNGEONS SR5C AND NO DL GEAR YET!!!
LIKE NOT A SINGLE PEACE...
It is really dimorallizing man..
like doing it and doing it and nothing drops!!
Kinda makes u wanna stop doing it and be like
BITCH! u can keep your DL!! I hope you choke!
Just saying after a few weeks of doing it it totally stops being fun.
Im not saying take the rate from like 0.2 % to 50% i'm saying take it from 0.2% to like 10%
Cause well 2.0% for every time u open a chest divided by 8 people in the party is really really really really baaaaaad............
NOT FUN SE PEOPLE!
How is it hard to understand that everyone want the gear.
If you want the gear you will need to frustrate over it.
Not science.
I laughed so hard at this reply i had to have my tongue removed from inside my throat.
A mentality that carried over from FFXI.
Anyway, this is where we can get a little philosophical, though at the same time it may be a hint of what is to come. Simply put, choices and things like the job system are counter-productive in settings such as these. Because the moment an alternative exists that makes things easier to bear, it WILL be the preferred course of action. The fact that FFXI players are conditioned to go with the preferred strategies/set ups and almost never stray from those "standards" does little to help. That's why you have guys like me who have played other MMOs with more openness in group compositions and strategies going "huh?". And why we end up arguing for more inclusive content instead of niche gameplay.
In all honesty, I don't know what can be changed to encourage people to start strategizing and using more varied group comps. As long as stacking classes has no real negatives to it, that's what some will lean to. As I mentioned in another thread, it's one thing when having 9 paladins in a 25-man raid is a freak ocurrence and generates lulz. It's another when you're purposely stacking classes to clear content.
What if they only awarded the 5th chest if there are no duplicate jobs/classes?
(and disallowed job/class changing while in the instance)
At most you could have 1 job and its nearest class, i.e. 1 Black Mage and 1 Thaumaturge since we will probably need 8 people and there are only 7 jobs and 7 classes... but any duplication negates the possibility of getting the 5th chest.
Or maybe give a bonus for having no duplicates? ... like a slightly higher drop rate?
Here we go with the blm qq'ing. Every whm in the game loves whm too I bet... Meatheads. Gear your BS dd classes in something other than AF and maybe someone will think to have you do an event on it.
I agree with an above poster about dynamis, shit was a good system. I'm not saying it didn't get old and I didn't want to scratch my eyes out every time I entered it after doing it for 3+ years.... but you gotta help out the people that helped you right?
I 100% agree also that this 8 person stuff is crap. However with the amount of content atm, idk if I'd want 18 person content either, at least 8 is a smaller number of people you've got to gear.
Assuming 2.0 will fix 'everything' is lame too. Sure I think most of us are pretty excited for it, but I don't think there were even any announcements for 'endgame' content in 2.0 ... It's all just a fix to draw in more people with a relaunch of a 100% better game than the original launch which will hopefully bring in more players. Now I'm sure there will be some stuff in there, but I wouldn't bank on it having enough endgame content to keep you happy for more than a month.
The changes made thus far have been huge, and I think it's returning players to the game so far that keeps some of the old content even being done. Running people through DH etc. I mean even the Primal's gear is replaceable (with some exceptions) with the next primal's gear... it's not like non-mage classes can gear swap so the whole 'situational' discussion can be thrown out.
It all comes down to busy work at the moment, how do they keep people paying and playing while they try to fix their epic blunder... If you can't see it at this point? wake up. All we can do is do our raids and primal fights and hope that 2.0 really does 'fix everything'..... or we can just go back to qq'ing over not running stuff with 8 drgs.
Lets take monster hunter for example. Everything in that game is based on luck, but if i want to get that Rathalos Ruby with 1% drop my skill can increase my odds. I can cut the mobs tail off for a chance for a drop i can capture it for a chance of higher drop, or make it drop an shiny item for a chance for it to drop. All of those things require player skill to get better drops. No matter how good i am @ AV,CC it wont make the RNG any better.
i'm just gonna have to say, i'm pretty sure we're seeing faux content, not faux difficulty until 2.0 arrives lol. They need SOMETHING to tide us over, but they can't commit too much to the current game structure.
Isaaru is my hero finally someone who can shut up that Incessant Lux and the math skills of a 4y/o,
I too support lockouts I feel like the content from FFXI Limbus was the best example of how droprates should be run, guaranteed drops but with a moderate 2 day lockout. If you were very skilled you could lowman and increase your drop rates (by winning with less ppl it allows you to fully gear your group in less runs). Also the content tied in other areas of the game with AF+1's and had mobs with varying weakness's so you could not class stack the whole thing.
I totally agree with the OP on this matter. If SE wants to keep people in the game, their idea is to make everything spammable, fast, but a low drop rate. This just turns many of us off and just feels like a chore you must do. If SE weren't so lazy theyed actually make a content really hard to do and make the drop rate a lot better then a measly low drop rate but will take time and effort to get these items. I think most of us (Not all of us of course) really want content that actually requires strategy and rewards players that way, then reward ppl who goes in an ez dungeon and gets the item in the first 5 runs, unlike many of us who has done it countless of times but has no luck and havent even seen 1 dropped equipment. I know it's the best equipment in the game, but come now, it's an easy spammable raid. There is no fun in that, the only fun I have is the Mistress at the end of AV because it's a fun fight.
All I will say is, it is a real arrow to the knee when I see someone who has done speed runs 1/4 the amount of times I have and have full Darklight on them. Where is my effort rewarded SE? Ohh wait, it isn't.
Can I ask, am I really a moron for playing a game with rules and conditions I am 100% against?
bring fun and rewarding gameplay back into the game!
at the moment its just frustrating.
Excellent points made by the OP, and I definitely agree. All these new "instances of the month" feel exactly the same as if I'd already done this before.
Skillful play in this game is not rewarded whatsoever. I rather they just shut this Beta version down, and go full on with 2.0. I'd still pay my monthly fee, and hopefully Diablo 3 and PSO2 don't make me forget about FFXIV.
I have done CC/AV for a combined total of 416 times (Yes I count each one on my iPad). All I have to show for it is one pair of Darklight Gauntlets. So by this, I should see myself in full Darklight in 1664 runs maybe.
So....I think I am done with these dungeons, think I will go get pissed off at Hamlet Defense now. If this is how AF weapons are obtained, they expect us to get this from a high tier boss in Hamlet who only has a 5% drop rate? When there is a large cooldown in Battle/Provisioning phases? And needs to be done "three" times? In three areas? EDIT: And have to fight 7 other people for it? This is complete bull. I don't want to do this anymore, and actually, I won't do it anymore (Probably will, but venting anyways!).
SE, you say FFXIV is a theme park, but don't take amusement park inspiration from Final Destination 3.
I think the cool-down would only happen on a successful completion of the dungeon, if you d/c at the start you can re enter and try again, likewise if you all wipe while in the dungeon you can re enter and try again. If you get to the end and beat the boss then you have a 2/3 day cool down but with a higher chest drop rate.
Seperate from replying to the quote above, I would also like to add how much I hate speed runs, I think it would be much better to have a chest prereq of lets say "kill every mob in the dungeon" or "you have to kill the end boss in a set time period for the chest to pop". That way people could actually enjoy fighting the mobs in the dungeon instead of having to rush through it every time.
Sorry in advance I did not read every comment so if someone said this already awesome.
A longer cooldown with greater drop rates would potentially be great for the "individual" player, but how about an LS as a whole. I know personally my LS does not have 8 person statics, sometimes when we are doing events we rotate players based pn jobs, drops, clear credit, etc. If group A clears and now has to wait 2 days, what happens to everyone else?
I'm sure this would work for a select portion of the community that always travels with the same people, but would alienate a large group that do rotational events or PUGs
I give SE credit, they are doing "The lesser of two evils.". We need to face the fact, regardless what they do, people will complain. What alarms me is that everyone assumes their opinion matters and we all want to hear it. Sadly that just isn't the case in the real world.
If you are unhappy doing something every 15 minutes, do something else.
By this I mean anything else, literally ANYTHING.
Go craft, mine, socialize, raindeer ifrit, rum through town in a Subligar.
If you do the same thing 20 times a day, day after day. I dont care what it is...you will get burnt out. If you can say "well I've done everything!". Here is my recommendation to you then
Grab a peice of paper and tape it to your screen and write on it "Game Over! You Won!" Pat yourself on the back and move on.
