It doesn't matter. Complaints generate innovation. The squeaky wheel gets the oil. You don't sit back and let someone take advantage of you. You say you are sick of hearing about it yet all you defenders of sq are here without fail.

These are not disingenous. They screwed the pooch. Plain and simple. The game has been woefully underfunded for years, and it's rearing it's head for all to see. They can apologize all they like, but it all means dickybajeezax until they act on it.
As far as one of the biggest mmos on the market, backed by one of the biggest game developers in the world, yeah, it's pretty bad by those standards. New World is crap, and was expected to be crap, because it's amazon and their betas reinforced that. It doesn't need to be "the worst", to still be pretty bad.
Right. The issue is they (and the industry at large), bribe people with incentives to beta test their games before "official launch". And you really cannot tell someone they gain no benefit from getting on as quick as possible. Maybe some people wanna get ready for raids. Perhaps people want to avoid spoilers. A myriad of reasons why someone may want to be on as quick as possible.

I would imagine anyone having to wait in queue for 2 or more hours, to then get kicked and put in the back, would be pretty frustrated. How bout dem server improvements from the cash shop! Which, if you look at the current situation of trying to buy the game for the first time, and how it hasn't been improved at all, I would be hard pressed to believe they have actually improved anything on that front.
Ah yes, a cleaning company creating a cleaning product.
Now, here is this problem. Not enough physical hardware to meet the demand during a time where the hardware required is extremely hard to get. SE is a software company, and has been (and is continuing) to try and find software workarounds. Unfortunately, there is a limit to how much software can solve when it relies purely on the capabilities of the hardware. The only way to truly fix this is to get the hardware, so by stating they should innovate a fix is saying they need to be a hardware company too. It's just not in their scope of practice. Does sitting in queue suck? Yeah it does. Does losing your spot suck even more? Yes, yes it does. And it is okay to be upset about it, but you have to be realistic and accept that some things just are at times. If SE was being silent, that would be one thing but they are constantly posting statements about what is going on and what they are doing to address it.
As for the bit of 'oh now they are fixing it on launch day'. I would imagine it has less to do with it being launch day and more about the fact that EA started on a Friday, and the devs deserve some time off too. So yes, they are pushing fixes during their regularly scheduled work week. The shocker.
Devs taking time off during their most anticipated expansion, with player numbers having already reaching new highs, while the login servers are on fire? Yeah, that's called screwing the pooch. Hey guys, I accidently set the store on fire, but i'm off the clock now and it's my friday. Byeee.
They have had years to upgrade servers, so the whole chip shortage only goes so far.
This is hilarious. You're telling me you actually believe a problem can be instantly diagnosed and resolved? You're saying they should be able to take one look at a problem and know exactly what to do to fix it, and that fix should take no more than a few moments?
Hmm, looks like they have been upgrading. Should I go back further? How about giving NA (and EU) an entire extra data center? EU's gotten four whole extra world servers since I've started.
Ffs, the whole "they've never upgraded anything ever" argument is laughable.
You're telling me they didn't have the idea of using their backup development servers as backups?
Congrats, you gave a link that showed they haven't actually finished upgrading their large scale plans. They increased login caps for Euro centers. Oh joy. And that NA data center expansion prior to shadowbringers, didn't even add more servers. They just lowered the amount per center, and added a third.
if you preorder your given early access otherwise everyone would just buy the game after launch. If i knew I would constantly get kicked out of a 5000 person que after I got under 1000 I would definitely not have paid for the game. The actual launh date is early access. There is no such thing as a actual launch date launch was Dec3rd. If launch was not dec 3rd then they would not be still selling preorders for early access.
Please, I beg you, apply just a dash of critical thinking.
Can you actually imagine these login woes if NA were still only using 2 data centers?
See, adding an extra data center, even if they're not adding servers, means spreading that login queue out over an extra data center. Effectively, they increased the login queue by 50%.
Be dismissive all you want. Your claims that they have made no effort to upgrade anything in years is verifiably false.
In the grand scheme of things, it really does nothing. If that wasn't already apparent. Oh yes, those paltry upgrades. Please sir, can I have some mo?
You know what would have a tangible affect on login queues? Adding more servers. Imagine having your playerbase over the years, grow to the conservative estimates of a mill or two, and not adding more servers.
Please, I beg you, stop simping for corporate SE.
If this is true, which I don't believe for a second. It is gross incompetence. No one launched a new product in any industry and decides they need a rest. And if their bosses allowed that the company should review why they are still employed. But this is MO launch expansion patch before weekend and don't come up with a solution till Tuesday. Maybe the expansion patch should be Monday or Tuesday so the fix patch can be Friday.
Just a little history listen for the people kind of mocking the people about charge back. That is how we ended up with the weird third party crysta system. They had problems with major CC and all the charge backs. So it does ad up. But that was allegedly mostly RMT stolen card issues.
You didn't purchase early access. You purchased the expansion. Early access was a free perk. I don't think they do refunds. You could try a chargeback through your credit card provider, but sometimes that can have consequences with the company you did the chargeback against, ie, a banned account, etc. Also chargebacks are at your credit card provider's discretion - they generally require at a minimum that you have tried to achieve a resolution with the company directly.
This launch has overall been -very- smooth for what SE is able to do right away. There was no mass server outages, no mass waits for an instanced duty toward start of expansion that bottlenecked, etc.
What DID happen, however? As the devs even said themselves, They had unexpected mass growth, leading to an issue that last was seen only way back when ARR launched - They did not then expect the relaunch to be so popular after the flop that was 1.0 so they were shorthanded on equip etc such as the servers to handle the logins yada yada. What happened this time however, isd they didn't expect the mass WoW Exodus leading to a 2.0-style boom in population... During a worldwide pandemic where shortages on computer materials made things like graphics cards that used to run for $300 to sell for $1k+ new, or the same $300ish used and years old. Servers for companies are also being shipped and made as able due to shortages - with some having 1-2 or even longer year waits to receive equipment unless they are willing to spend a fortune to get them early - which is often a loss in the end. To this end, SE has done everything they could and are still trying to do more as they can, to keep things at least moving along as best they are able to. Remember, to those whining a fix only came on "official release day" it didn't - They need time to do things such as identify the cause, figure out a fix, and then ensure said fix doesn't make something else break worse on accident that could do something like, whatever deities or etc you wanna use forbid... wipe all data on the server forever to an irrecoverable state.
So true. Work for a company named Wasabi. We're faster, cheaper and more modern than Amazon with less data restrictions. Shilling my own company out of the way now...
Our hardware has been delayed again until June of 2022. Stuff we paid for in January of 2020. Funny part is, there were shortages then too. Why we jumped on getting those 48cu asap. Alas, here we are waiting, longer and longer.
Once you redeem the code you waive your rights for a refund - should really read the sales details.
