For some reason this reminded me of back in FFXI when an LS mate asked for help on getting some of the maps they were missing and our response was "Why do you need a map to tell you that you are lost?" since said person had the directional sense of Zoro from One Piece.

This is insane. I did it once to see. But you can do a batch of leves at 80 for almost 2.5 million. It only takes time. It is a one button macro craft. That is 1600 teleports at 1500 gil each. We need more gil sinks.



I would actually like to see a desynth kit that you could buy with gil. If something is being botted heavily, I would prefer to see that available on a vendor. After a period of time certain scrip items could be available on a vendor. The game has an infinite amount of scrips possible, so we can create an infinite amount of sublime solution. Same with other mats from tomestone vendor. And considering you can get saffron cloth and other mats from ventures, I don't see why a vendor would be game breaking.

I haven't been on the forums in such a long time that I had forgotten how so incredibly hyperbolic the topics could be.

It is so staggeringly easy to make gil that you actually have to make a conscious effort to remain poor enough for this change to affect you. Like the game goes out of its way to give you generous amounts of gil with very little effort on your part. Yes, in order to make millions it takes a little bit more effort and know-how, but this change will in no way "punish" new or casual players, not even close.

If you think 1500 gil is punishing or unaffordable by the time you're a high enough level to have teleports far enough apart to even see costs that high, you're doing something very wrong.

On the topic of teleport costs, does anyone happen to know where to find that data point SE shared once, think it was back during SB at some point, that had the total gil spent by players on teleport costs? Would help put things in perspective

The notion of market board inflation is utterly laughable nowadays. Between crafting becoming extremely easy and the myriad of bots SE does absolutely nothing about. Prices plummet while a Savage tier has barely just begun. Prices in Heavensward and Stormblood were in the million range for weeks, if not months. Just for comparison sake.

Everything they said about needing a gil sink is complete nonsense. The economy in this game has long become a joke because they don't do anything about the aforementioned bots and haven't actually bothered with any meaningful gil sinks. Honestly, even if they somehow purged every single gil farmer and kept them gone, there's still way more gil coming into the economy then being removed from it just from treasure maps, levequests and roulette bonuses.

There simply aren't enough significant gil sinks that the average player is going to utilize often, with housing being too restricted and the golden mounts being prohibitively expensive for the bulk of the playerbase.

The price you pay for items on the market board is obviously the end result of a very complex system, the two most powerful influences being supply/demand and inflation. Due to changes made by SE the supply/demand ratio has changed significantly but inflation is still there. Compared to real life inflation in MMO's is extremely strong, especially in XIV because the game throws newly generated gil at everyone. Every time 1 gil is generated out of thin air, the value of every gil previously created reduces and causes inflation.

Players might not think it's important but the developers certainly do, that's why they do things like this to control it. The two gil sink mounts are a bit of a red flag to be honest, it was an attempt to drain the economy but it largely failed because not many people actually wanted them. Increasing basic costs like teleport costs is much more effective.

I'm not losing my mind over it. I just don't think it'll make a big difference. Hundreds of millions of gil a day seems like an exaggeration. A huge one. But even at half that estimate it's not making any sizeable dent, even over time. There's just too much gil in circulation, and there's so many ways to artificially generate it. Let's say someone spends 20k a day for teleports. All they have to do is run a roulette or 2 to negate that loss and that gil is back in circulation, with interest. That gil that was just removed is right back where it was. Let's double that hypothetical amount because why not, and double the amount of roulettes done. Same deal. It's pointless. What this game needs is more gil sinks like the recently added super expensive mounts. The inventory just needs to be increased, along with the variety of items. THAT would actually make a difference.

If you do each roulette sans PvP/Mentor, for the needed role bonus alone you'll net 55k. I'm not sure how much you get as the base reward, but the role in need bonuses add up to a fair sum each day. Plus, the challenge log when finishing categories and knocking out X amount of challenges nets fair gil, too. By playing each day- normally, and just once per most activities per day- you can quickly acquire some put-away gil for these upcoming teleport fee changes. If you have alts, too, then more power to you! Simply transfer the gil by placing a random item on the boards for a large sum, then buy it with the other!

Ehhh..it is a slight issue I suppose but even someone who plays like me 2 or 3 hours a week can afford these prices sooo..while annoying not the major issue people making it.

100 million gil a day spend on teleports isn't that obscene. Considering there's supposedly 600 thousand 'active' accounts, if even HALF of those took a single 999 gil teleport a day, that's almost 300 million gil.

I also don't get your logic, here. There's nothing stopping that person from doing the roulettes in the first place, so taking some of their gil through teleports and repairs seems an effective way to cut down some of those earnings. So instead of them having ~45k at the end of their roulettes they now have 25k. How does this work out as "That gil that was just removed is right back where it was"? They had to generate new gil. What they had before is now gone.

As for the actual OP, I dunno what drugs you're smoking. In a game with war, rape/sexual abuse, murder, children being made orphans, betrayal... it's the money that's making it a total bummer? It's honestly one of the most comfy aspects of the game for me. RPGs have always been about problem-solving and farming/allocating where to spend your in-game money and how to effectively rebuild it has such major appeal that entire playerbases stick with a game just for that supposed 'wage slave' feeling (Think Runescape, EVE, pretty much every MMORPG). I think you'd be hard pressed to find very many RPGs that have no measure of currency progression much like you'd be hard pressed to find an RPG without stats and gear. But if it's all about getting a player to not have to do anything at all out of fear of making them 'work' for something, maybe they should release an anime series and just do away with the silly 'game' thing.

I'm waaay more upset with how bad the bank/stash system is with everything split up behind inconvenient speedbumps and cash grabs.
Want to play freely, enjoy the game, get every profession and job, try them all out? Well good luck with 2 basic retainers and a saddlebag, all full in days with random stuff, even if you keep only things you need.

At least path of exile has the decency to make your extra stash tabs that you bought permanent.
As well as having a proper stash to begin with, that's easy fast efficient to navigate and operate, unlike retainer monstrosities.

As Yoshi said. The Telepotation Fee depends from your Location and where you wanna go. Not all will cost 1500 Gil. If you Teleport from the Crystarium to Fort Jobb ist costs 100 Gil. It has to be done to keep the Prices in Balance. Some Teleports will be cheaper after 6.0

As someone who completed ARR and HW during the Free Trial and as a result has had barely any money ever since, I can't say this was my favourite of the changes they've announced... Hell, even my alt I don't think I ever broke 3 million gil and I've already reached the start of Shadowbringers. I don't understand how (some) people have hundreds of millions quite frankly

There is a number of ways. You have those that actively do crafting and gathering, people that regularly do treasure maps, lockbox farming, etc...

Even having leveled up and geared retainers sent regularly on quick ventures that take about an hour can turn out a decent amount of gil if you're lucky as they sometimes return with things that sell for a decent amount of gil on the market board though most of the time it's seems to either be common house parts which I just sell to vendor or untradeable stuff from duties that can either be fed to GC for points or sold to vendor for gil.

If this is meant to curb inflation, it's destined to fail.
People who have been rich in this game will stay rich, while those whose focus is not on money at all will see their savings drop.

Just to make this clear: Inflation between players is meaningless, because no money leaves the economy. Only destroying money effectively combats inflation, IF the sink is more effective than the faucet.

What are you guys the Boston Tea Party! The game literally gives you money just to give people commendations! Pay your fees and stop the tears! Also idk if you guys didnt watch the same live letter I did for 6 hrs but once your in a exspansion area the fees are scaled down by distance. First of all, why do we need like 4 threads in 24 hours on same subject?


Second, when are people going to understand the updates isn't going to affect most. Fact is it overall a reduction in teleport fees.

Also do this to lower the most expensive ones:

1. Join a FC
2. Request "Reduced Rates" buff (30% cut with 'Reduced Rates II').
3. ???
4. Profit!

Also utilize your free teleport to a specific aetherite with 'Set as favorite'.

- Unreal Leviathan: 8-10 mil every 8 weeks if you sell the mounts (hint: it's now 8 weeks until Endwalker)
- Crafted combat gear: 1-2 mil per piece on patch day and 100-200k in the following weeks
- Crafted leveling gear: 50k per piece throughout the entire expansion (hint: I'm guessing Sage and Reaper might need leveling gear soon)

It was meant to make people not abuse the convenience of teleporting all over too much. Not really a bad idea given 1.X had more overworld and party focus. But it went the extreme opposite end of it and anima took so long to regenerate (DAYS, not hours) that like a lot of 1.0 stuff was ruined by poor execution.

1.0 was a very different era of MMO history, todays players would have a tantrum so big it would cause another calamity if they introduced a stamina system to limit teleports. Even FFXI has moved on from that kind of time wasting and makes travel as easy as possible now.

It's easy to look back with rose tinted glasses and remember all those moments of open jawed wonder as we travelled through dangerous open worlds on some epic adventure, and also easy to forget all the times we spent 45 minutes running to camp only for the party to disband after 15 minutes, or get aggro within sight of our destination and have to run all the way back again.

There are tons of ways to make chunks of gil over time, with minimal effort (or well, brainless effort in the case of the biscuits..):

• You get 20,000 pure profit for delivering items to Doma every week.
• You get up to 3-4,000 gil from your retainers in Allagan coins, every day, per retainer. In addition to occasional rare/pricey drops like the Fat Cat.
• You can trade in a bajillion coffee biscuits via leves for millions.
• Just doing weekly challenge log stuff (dungeons, gathering, crafting) nets chunks of gil, every week.

On top of that, being less frivolous with gil, like:

• Being smarter about your teleport locations..
• Repairing gear yourself instead of the mender.
• Utilizing the airships instead of teleporting to major hubs. (keep 1 hub as favored/home point).
• Not buying gear on the market board when you can just farm it out with time and effort via dungeons/raids/tomestones.
• Not buying the latest patch glamour because it will be like 1/10 that price in a month or two.
• (If you can, farm and sell the materials for that latest patch glamour ;))

Finally, you can have more than one character at the base sub cost. Each character can have retainers to your account limit. Once you hit level 50ish on said character, you should easily be able to solo lower dungeons and trade the drops for ventures at your GC.

Making gil is easy. Making a LOT of gil only requires a llittle time and effort.

Oh yeah that was fun, I was always either PLD or BLM for Dynamis, both jobs died a lot and neither could get a meripo to build up the exp buffer. On BLM I had to spend hours and hours nuking puddings after each Dynamis just so I didn't delevel next time, then eventually one of them would resist gravity and I'd die, lose half an hours exp and have to run back. Was still more fun than grinding Campaign battle on PLD though.

The free trial is going to have a big impact on your savings. I have screenshots from when I was in Stormblood showing that I had around 5 million gil at the time.

On the other hand, if nothing else, it does mean all teleporting up to level 60 is "free" because you're always going to hit the cap again.

Are you guys who complained teleport fees that poor? Duty roulette gives alot of gils for teleport alone, also FC/Squadron teleport fee reduction is a good stuff to use.

Go farm those from now on! Don't be lazy!

It does seem odd that some players seem to be very reluctant to undertake any of the thousands of ways to make gil, and also want to moan about minor expenses. Its genuinely difficult to actually play this game and not have a passive income of several hundred thousand gil a week. With an hour or two of effort you can triple that easily.

Earning gil is an integral part of FFXIV and finding your way of at least earning enough to cover basic expenses is part of the game.
