We can speculate about the workflow and in what order it makes sense for them to do things in, but at the end of the day we don't actually know because they won't acknowledge it or talk about it.

We have been ignored for two years. We have absolutely no updates. We got Male Vieras but if that means no updates on Viera's customization please take Male Vieras back.

We had a two day Fan Fest and this topic was not addressed. Why? At this point I would rather prefer having a "We are still working on it please be patience" or a "No, vieras are not getting hairs anytime soon" than this horrible silence.
And for the people who said that we should change to a race that can use the hairs, well try to change to a race that you don't really care about...

Just because they haven't said anything on the subject doesn't mean they are ignoring it. There was never any confirmation male viera was going to happen (unlike hair and head gear which were confirmed), yet here we are. A lot of people accused the devs of sexism because there was only female viera and male hrothgar. Are we now going to accuse them of ignoring hair and head gear? None of this is a matter of sexism or ignoring, it's simply about work flow. I am sure the ffxiv team didn't forget about hair and head gear. I'm more annoyed about how it's yet another female aimed designed and not unisex. Men are basically full on crossdressers in this game because nothing is masculine designed outside tank gear.

I don't know if it's about work flow, or if they forgot, or if it's because of male viera, or if it's because of hrothgar, or if it's because of COVID. Could be? Would be nice if they could, I don't know, say something about it? I'm not "accusing them of ignoring it", they are ignoring it by not addressing it or doing anything.

Something that's endlessly baffling about the whiny side of the community is that they ignore the fact that a company invested hundreds of thousands in work force effort (it's not like people are doing this for free), time and other resources to make the race happen. But that company is also suddenly a person with feelings and biases. There is no team making decisions. Only Mr. Square Enix himself and how much he HATES seeing viera worked on. Clearly they're being ignored. Not like, there's priorities and someone given notes to work on things at a later date. They're just sexist/racist.

Okay you didn't really answer my question though. What IS the purpose of this thread? It feels more and more like you are venting and that is totally fine, if that is the purpose of this thread then by all means go ahead. My suggestion for merging with the megathread is only due more exposure and easier access for devs to actually know what players want. I think its very reasonable to think many tiny threads that die out after 5 pages will not help you be heared, compiling info and keeping that thread alive is better for being noticed. BUT that doesn't seem to be your goal.

Tbh I switched to Hyur, and it's pretty refreshing to have more options ( and also hats ).
I might go back to Viera later because I still love Viera but it kinda puts things into perspective lol.

I had even forgotten that I had Minfillia's hair way back from ARR I think xD!

If SE can tell us that female hrothgar is coming without even giving us a date, then SE can say something about the hrothgar and viera hair situation. I'm tired of this.

No, I'm pretty sure the word racism is in-fact "all about race." I imagine if I searched enough, that I could find an opinion for anything, but it does not mean I would agree with it just because it exists. It's also not my duty to try to convince myself of some absurd position on the word racism because you'd prefer I see it that way, presumably. A bit more on topic, this ultimately is a racial matter either way, as Viera are a race, it is thus racist in a literal sense in regard to the game race to continuously exclude them for content, in particular for greed, which is what I believe to be the main motivation ultimately driving this current state on the issue.

I think we otherwise see eye to eye on the matter as two years with very little feedback on the matter is indeed something that really shouldn't be ignored at this point. Not mentioning it at all at fan fest and then releasing yet another hair this issues applies to is not helping at all and makes such a reply more than justified. I too believe both replying to the mega thread and making other threads addressing specific issues is both helpful in garnishing awareness and relevancy for the matters at hand. I feel like people saying to play another race are really just trolls at this point as it's really an absurd thing to suggest otherwise.

When I saw that theory about "vieras are the "female part" of hrothgars", I believed that was a good theory, but just a theory, nothing confirmed.
But after 2 years and the same problem: new hairs and hats, and vieras received nothing, I think that's true... It's not too hard to add new hair or hat for viera, you know... I mean, I don't understand anything about game development, but vieras don't have something "new" like Hrothgar. It's just ears, I think miqo'tes are more difficult to make hats and hairs because their ears have movements, but vieras have two fixed ears, they don't have movements, so whats is the problem here?
So yeah, I only have hope that vieras will received something new, not when male viera will released, but only when female Hrothgar exist.

And, I think, as I just said, both results in overall more exposure than just one or the other, and it costs nothing to have both. Your point resides on a presumption of one being mutually exclusive to the other, when it isn't, so I don't think you have a point. You personally being indifferent to the racial exclusion of hairstyles to Viera and seemingly overeager to brownnose for Square does not somehow mean others are exaggerating in their complaints towards the issue. It's unfair towards Viera players to have hairstyles continually excluded for them, especially when it isn't even that difficult a hurdle to cross, especially for how much time they have had to do so. It's also not like they are on the brink of bankruptcy. They are a multi-billion dollar corporation. It would of probably costed less than 30k USD to hire a third party modeler to port over the hairs to the slightly different shape of Viera's head. Modders are able to accomplish such feats w/o even seeing a dime. And, not even hairstyles made post their release work with them. It's an entirely neglected issue that is clearly brushed under the rug in regard to their communication to us. No amount of posturing on their behalf is going to change that for us. It's completely unacceptable and not even remotely reasonable at this point. If you want to complain so badly about all of us, by all means, make your own thread to do so if you think your position is so sound.

Lissen I get what you are saying, and I understand your are frustrated. I'm just underlining that the word Racism is very heavy. People get insulted, suffer from physical aggression and even die everyday just because they have different skin tone.
And I think its a bit too much saying SE and Yoshi P are racist. Call them Bunnyphobic, perhaps is better word with no heavy and real meaning attached to it!

When you accuse someone of these things it's a very serious attack on their character which shouldn't be done lightly.
I have huge issues with people who accused the devs of being sexist too when female Viera was released and people were comparing them unironically to the Hrothgar as if they were the same race and spinning narratives about it.

Same with people flipping out because gear is different between genders sometimes and female characters get skirts while male characters don't.

Even when it'd be more accurate and equivelant of just having a bra.

I dont think this is about Viera and Hrothgar anymore. It's basically laziness in their design department.

First of all, you are exaggerating because you are trying to label "racism" on something they already announced before they release the race.
Secondly, modders can alter the the model because those files stay in their own computer (client) instead of sending that information to FF14 server. You don't even have a clue on what you are talking about. If server refuse just even on slight error to the client, client will crash. It is not that easy.
Third, you have no clue how Japanese or any asian company operates. They don't have the luxury just hire/fire freely as US company (who usually is ruthless). If they are hiring someone, it must be talented and undergoes series of training because company is going to think this employ with stay with them as their career. They also don't pay garbage like black hearted Blizzard, it is not that simple

Conclusion? Stop whining and just wait. They did follow through with male Viera and they definitely will get back to the head skeleton part of Viera when they have time.

The people asking about the purpose of this thread clearly don’t understand that venting and being exasperated are valid reasons to post. If no one said anything at all, would the situation get resolved? No, SE would think that everyone is pleased and fine with how things are being handled, and at this point that is unacceptable. Backlash like this should be expected by everyone, including SE, including people here.

It wouldn’t be an issue if they kept their promise to give us at least one new hairstyle. It wouldn’t be an issue if they at least addressed the unfair treatment we’ve gotten, if they at least said yes, one day you’ll get to enjoy the game in the same capacity as every other player or no, you will always be this limited and will have to live with this decision.

If they said we would never get another hairstyle or ever be able to wear hats, would I Fantasia? Probably not. I love being Viera and can’t imagine playing another race. However, if they were at least a little transparent, I wouldn’t be upset when the constant exclusion is beaten over our heads each time it happens. I would know to expect to be excluded every time and be fine with that because I know because the dev team has made me aware. But instead they keep us in the dark for some unknown reason, dangling us along, making us hope that someday we will be included, at least once.

I think this reaction is warranted. Plenty of players, myself and boyfriend who play Hrothgar included, were already having a hard time being excited about make Viera at all because SE hasn’t even fulfilled the small promise to give us something, anything. So releasing yet another hairstyle soon after having to digest being shoved aside for another limited race when making that promise come to fruition wouldn’t even be too hard is kind of like twisting a broken bone.

There’s no reason to get annoyed at multiple threads. It’s a forum, no one makes you click on them. It’s clear that anyone who thinks this shouldn’t be a public outcry by players isn’t affected by the situation or at least have no strong feelings toward it. When two plus years of being kept in total darkness results in nothing, what else do you do? Just give up? I don’t want to. I want to be confident in SE, I love this game and can tell the devs do too, but I wish I could feel that passion in every corner; unfortunately, my and so many other players’ corner is just collecting dust while everyone else’s gets polished.

This is my question. At this point it isn’t just hairstyles but also glams at this point. Nier gave us 2b and no male equivalent. All these new hairs are either weird androgynous catered to females or just straight female hairstyles. I’m getting really annoyed that they aren’t showing any diversity whatsoever.

Do you realize OP is confirmed with act of defamation (in which the case both label and slander)?
It is considered as crime by many nations and cultures.
SE specifically stated on Fanfest that they used all remaining resources available to give people male Viera and stated there will be no more race because of the stress on the resources.

Regardless of how you feel about it, this isn't defamation (in the legal sense, for any reasonable nation), that's your own stretch right there, you can even look up Japan's defamation laws if you want.

When Square tries do reduce work to make hairstyle exclusive for men, ppl cry about it. Right now "Unlocking" and "unisex" works better for feminine characters but for masculine characters ? Not really.
