Planned release of initial achievement system in patch 1.20, with over 300 achievements.
If you read the notes it is apparent that some of it at least will be after the 2.0 launch.
you mad bro???? the point is even with my 3 brain cells i can tell when a game has a good enough amount of content to hold the players till the next patch all the way till 2.0 if you choose to not indulge in it then see you when 2.0 comes out but to add additional content just because they should try and make more people come back...... you were asking to be roasted only thing i agree with is point 2 merge servers because those low populated server suffer. other than that still consider yourself roasted :-) <3 XoXo
What i want to know is why people think, finishing all the achivements and job classes is part of "Finishing the game", and if not doing so give someone no right to comment on the boards.
What does that have to do with a MMO ROLE PLAYING GAME.
The main appeal of any RPG is the storyline.
Collecting every single item possible, or playing the extra 200 hours of extra content leveling a job class you dont care for IS NOT finishing the game content. You people need to wake up and realize that a single boss battle != content, 10-15 quests leading upto an epic boss battle, with unpredictible story content is a "boss battle" and is the only thing ever worthy of the title.
Ive said it before and ill say it again, this game is fine how it is, maybe a few kinks, but its mainly its just boring.
Just give a crapload more quests so people have things to do. Honestly i played LOTRO for a bit when i took a break from here and they have a very cool system for creating FFXI's "assault" type missions, Unlimited runs per day, with a single exp bonus per day for completion, and currency reward system for other cool (mostly useless but fun none the less) items. [Edit] that scaled number of enemies, based on how many people in party when you started the instance, and level of enemies based on the highest lvl member of your party, as well as adding the option to set the levels higher if you wanted to.
Another person twisting words to make it sound how they want to sound. Guess you didn't see the other post where I already clarified this (post 71), so I won't bother repeating myself. It's there is you want to read it.
...and no, getting all your classes to 50 and finishing all achievements does not mean you have completed the game since MMO's are ever changing... but if people did finish all the content (i.e. all quests all jobs to 50, all dungeons done, all primals complete etc) that was available to them before new content was released at least they would have a reason to complain versus others who have done a low percentage of the game and complain they have nothing to do.
While the game is good and tides me over, it is not fine the way it is... if it was fine the way it is then we wouldn't have SE building a whole new game on a whole new server, giving us something to do, until relaunch and hyping us for 2.0. Even SE admitted this game was a mess.
And this is coming from a person who has defended (and will continue too) this game since closed beta.
i never said look at me i won i was just trolling because people who make these threads throw themselves out their and don't expect for people not to bust their imaginary bubble. what if this what if that i respect peoples opinion but if it was titled i have some ideals for new content then i would've left it alone but no its titled help bring people back.....wtf.....i want the bad people to leave....not come bak lol just messing.... but seriously if your going to argue something let it have some actual logical basis. Example djjdiss long post about his opinion about achievement, jobs, killing hnm's, getting gear bla bla 2.0 just an over haul and every adj he could find to make the game sound horrible but at the end of all that he didnt list anything that made his point factual half the things he listed can only be judged by personal opinion anyway all that rant and it only told us how he felt about the game not how the game is. the point is weather you want to do it or not its there to be done you can call it broken you can say its boring to sit and craft all day but its content point blank if you don't want to do it its your choose no one is mad at you just remember when you come make a thread like this people who see the game for what it is not what they think. will eat you alive as you can read on the links that shows all the content that is supposed to be implemented up to 2.0 during 2.0 and after 2.0 the people that complain have nothing to base their assumption that this game is going to fail but their on ideal. the rest of us have FFXIV developers and yoshi on our side with updates, the outline, patch notes to prove why we are still here and that this game has potential to rival every other MMO. thats why you bought it, thats why you played, thats y your still in the forums QQing because at the end of the day if this game can get to where it should be their wont be another MMO like it. and majority of the QQ'ers are only interested in battle content SE has plenty of battle games you can just go kill things level up la di da di da but this is an MMO. if your not ready to experience it fully there are MMO's all about fighting out their wow rift fight all day, level all day, level crafting in a day go bak to battling. Se doesn't make an MMO to suit the needs of battle crazed groupies and jump off's but to develop a community where their is content that suits everyone needs or desires and i don't think se is worried about the groupies or jump off's they are more interested in the long term supporters and fans because those people who play for the next 4-5 years can support the game the jumps off who play real quick to do certain content then jump back to the next game will be making their bonuses.
you cant rush greatness
Leveling and achievements is not my idea of fun content. Its stuff to do yeah but it's not fun...
This game needs more then 2 prime battles for end game. I'm 7/7 on weapons >.> now when I log in I usually end up falling asleep lol. Maybe after the merge and 1.21 it will be more fun :) lot of good points made in this thread. Meh I guess we got to wait for 2.0 for the good stuff..
Yeah the only thing i do now is log in everyday to get my local leves done, and sometimes fishing leves. Then i see there's not enough ppl on that want to do moogle or even ifrit so i just log off and go play some SWTOR for the rest of the night. SWTOR may feel more like a solo player game than an MMO, but at least it keeps me occupied with tons of stuff to do until i see other players that want to team up for something. I feel like i will never run out of quests to do on that game. I wish XIV was a bit more like that.
@OP: Other than 2.0
Patch 1.21 will be giving us 7 Jobs (each with 5 quests), 2 Dungeons, Hamlet Defense, private inns, and redone CUl GLD and ALC recipes, and I'm guessing a bit more too.
No offence intended KaiKatzchen as i wasnt referring to any post and i have read all of them on this thred upto this point, im talking about the gamers in general, everyone complained even in FFXI, no matter if we got something 90% liked, it wasnt enough and noone was ok with something, and the other 10% would hate on it.
Most of the "Elite" crews think that having a weapon from doing a boss battle makes you elite, or spending hours upon hours aquiring the hard to get weapons somehow makes you elite, and i admit i had a bunch of endgame weapons/armors for FFXI, but i was nothing if not embarrassed for spending so much time getting them.
I was just saying, focusing only on endgame content is a major drawback i think they devs should consider, they make the hard to get items take years to get, cause they want you to spend your whole life getting it, when i would rather be playing the game.
Content doesnt mean another boss battle every 3 months, and i wanted to make sure and clarify that, content is 20-50 more quests for levels 1-50 every few weeks, till theres so much to do people never can say they are bored.
and honestly, 20 quests in 2 weeks seriously is not asking much, it doesnt take long to script something like that in, do a quest test to make sure all aspects flow through the npcs evenly and submit it to the game servers.
and before anyone says anything, yes i have experience programming my own personal games just for fun, as im sure many other gamers have tried now and then, and i do know the difficulties in getting things to work sometimes.
I also have nothing but respect for the devs and hope they bring this game to fruition truely, as i am a current subscriber and would like to stay so, but thats my main gripe, its been out over a year and started a new character, only to find around 10 total quests in ALL cities, between levels 1-20, yes the game has bugs, but this amount of lack of content astounds me. I too am extreamly excited about the 2.0 plans and am excited to do all the things they talk about. I played FFXI since day 2 of its release and i want to do the same on FFXIV
You could give me hundreds of thousands of quests 1-50 every few weeks, I'd be bored.
The vast majority of quests in MMO's are horribly boring. Maybe people like endgame content because it is actually challenging, fun, and something you can do with a group of friends. Not just there to mindlessly kill time with like quests.
It doesn't take long to do those types of quests because they are simplistic and nothing but time sinks. The absolute bottom of the barrel in terms of quality content. Many people get zero enjoyment out of doing them, so it doesn't matter how many we get. Why don't you put that stuff in that game you are making for yourself. Some of us have higher standards for what constitutes entertainment than a fed ex quest, or crushing a pack of swamp rats for 10 different reasons/people a week, and we also play these MMO's.
Excuse me while I play the game how I like to play it.
There has to be content for all playstyles at all levels, nothing else will satisfy even 90% of players. We need a massive amount of content and some of it will only make 2% happy. I hate PVP but I know this game needs some PVP content for those who do and I just will not do it. I will go do what interests me. There does need to be balance and that will be the real challenge for SE.
I understand it's depressing and lonely to not find people to do the stuff in game you want to do right now easily. That being said, this is probably the lowest the population will ever be. Once jobs come out with patch 1.21, more people will decide to pay sub fees and come back. (I know of several on my server for example). After patch 1.21 and as we move towards 2.0, people will slowly come back. Mainly so they can play through the storyline/content that will be unavailable post 2.0 and because they will be curious etc. So be patient, people will come back/ new players will start emerging.
2. As to your wish-list of content you'd like now, I am not trying to say we shouldn't have it or expect it BUT it makes no sense for SE to waste time and energy atm on content that might be difficult to code on this server (like player housing for example) when they plan on slowly porting the game over to the new server engines around Spring (if i remember the 2.0 details correctly). Also, dynamis and events of the like were meant for endgame levels. We are all currently stuck at mid-level. I know we all call rank 50 endgame, but it's really not and I think SE has a fine line to balance between creating content to keep the small active community happy and over-doing what content will exist at the rank 50 level. This being said, it WOULD be nice for them to take some of the battles/content they already have promised us pre 2.0 and make it for small 2-4 man parties. That way, it would be easier to group etc.
As to if charging now was good or bad: If people play the game 1-3 times a week or more, they must enjoy something about it. SE deserves money for that. If however, they don't play that often, then maybe it IS best to take a break at the moment. Just because something is free doesn't make it good, nor does paying for something make it worse.
SE could have shut the game down completely, wiped our characters and said, sorry game was crap, come back when we re-write it. Instead, they allowed us to keep our characters, progression, and data and even have been creating content JUST for those still playing. They didn't need to do any of this...and honestly, it would be quicker and easier and more cost efficient for them to have shut the game down. So while I understand the frustration that content isn't coming as quickly as you'd like, and others having lost their patience with waiting, have stopped playing, SE was trying to do something nice for the loyal players in giving is what we DO have. (Afterall, even if you didn't log back in game until 2.0, you'd have 5 rank 50 classes and all your gil, equipment etc...that in and of itself is more gracious than most gaming companies who produced a 'flop' they fixed would be)
Allow me to refer Murugan to another thread where he qualifies as the 1% of gamers who like games to be difficult because he assumes everyone like him has no life and must spend it all online to prove his manhood, i hate to break it to you bro, but 99% of gamers want something simplistic -> challenging, not overly complicated or just annoying, and its people like you, that made FFXI never reach WoW status, not in gameplay, but in popularity, as it had the potential to do so, i had 9 friends join FFXI with me when it started, and only 3 made it past the first 6 months, and only 1 after the first year.
And by the way as i really dont care about actually refering you to the thread, as you like a challenge, you can look it up yourself.
For people who arent haters who want to hate, below is the reason quests work no matter how many there are;
The additional quests give players who can only play an hour a day, an alternative way to build experience without joining a party and commiting to hours of gameplay at a time.
Whats even worse is the fact that putting in a single boss that takes 20 people to kill, apart from the actual design of a potentially "new" enemy, requires even less time then scripting a few quests, and that alone shows how much time they spent giving you "what you want."
and you should infact be requesting even more content in bosses than i am in quests. but hey, if your mind can get hung up by fighting the exact same thing, over and over for months on end, who am i to argue. I obviously have no idea what im talking about...
Hate to break it to you bud, but I don't exactly play 24/7. I'm just not a brain dead moron who thinks repetitive quest grinding= great times in MMOland. Which is what you asked for instead of new endgame content.
I made tons of friends in XI over the years, and enjoy playing with a whole bunch of people in this game. Sounds like a personal problem you have, and not something you should blame on the lack of lame pointless quests for you to likely do by yourself, without talking/coordinating/or having to play with anyone else (you know how most people actually make friends in MMO's).
Go climb in a refrigerator box, you don't need a multi-million dollar online game to meet your high standards for "entertainment".
lmao man people are just asking to be roasted today.... im more than happy to do the honors lmao your first statment rofl 1% dude who are you kidding anyone who lasted in FF11 sees 14 as a joke and rather it be harder i came from wow because it was to easy and any 5-6 year old can get on there and do everything in that game with ease. buy that game don't come here and make ff14 wow. lmao 99% of gamers you've been playing wow for to long sir and evidently didnt play it since the beginning most of the truly skilled players left a long before ice crown due to the fact it was to easy and than you gave wow a status dude lmao your in the wrong place for that. yea i likes wow status you don't even have to read to play it yep its really popular amongst the 8-9 year olds now. my lil bro played my account when he was 7 and won a 1v1 on his first day playing on my character and asked why do i play this lmao because i want to die slowly i said. lastly you said you had 9 friend 1 lasted after a year that statement makes my day why cause ff11 saved alot of parties from having scrubs and none dedicated people in their ls. it helped the actual good people not waste their time and money on scrubs who cant take the heat combo so you proved that you and friends cant handle a game that takes actual skill and dedication Combo2 you put wow and FF14 in the same sentence as their some type of comparisonFinish him i think you should go back to wow leave FF14 to the grown ups and we let you have wow dude just because you said you and your friends couldn't last a year on FF11 makes the rest of your argument void presses the eject button officially chopped and screwed by Karma Knite
p.s. if you want i will give you my wow account was going to sell it to this 10year old for 200 dollars that he got for christmas but i think you need it more LMAO officially ROASTED
Your original argument was that "SE knows what the fuck they're doing", implying that the game would not fail, wherein I replied with a request for evidence. Being that A. The launch was a total failure due to the very pre-mature release of a major title; B. A high number of players had left the game within 5 months (and not returned) due to many of the game's shortcomings; C. Square-Enix has been doing this long enough to know better; D. They have a highly successful MMO title under their belt, and instead of importing something other than PC models from that game, they try to rewrite the book. IE: Fatigue system, Market wards, etc.
Isn't it just as closed-minded for you to look at the points I've just made and still remain absolutely positive that the game will not flop again? I'm not saying the game can't or won't do better in the future. What I'm saying is, is don't count your chickens before they've hatched with this company.
Now please don't read this as me jumping all over your case here, because honestly I see both sides of this argument. I used to have a character with multiple 50 jobs and a craft or 2 near 50 back around the middle of last year. When they announced the 2.0 relaunch I deleted it and stopped playing for a bit. I pay and play now on my current character, but only a few times a week. My fear was that I would become one of the many people I see now with all their combat jobs at 50 and several crafting jobs at 50 as well. I often wonder what people like them do now when they log on besides the 2 primal fights or trying to cram another piece of materia into an already crowded piece of equipment. I think that, regardless of how many "new" things come out in the next few patches, it is still going to be some time before we get to a level of content in this game that exceeds anyones ability to master outside of a month or 2 of work. I mean, as it is now, with the right help, you could easily complete all there is to do in this game in a month or 2, with the exception of crafting. Hell, since SE isn't really concerned with banning botting accounts right now (and i understand why, believe me) you could cheat a little and probably knock out most of your crafting jobs in that time too. Or at least get them all to the high 30's.
The fact is, we are in a holding pattern until 2.0 drops. While I think there will be loads of new things to see or do once the new client finally drops, I think it will be sometime yet (2014 maybe) before this game gets to the same level FFXI was content wise after it had been released for the same amount of time. I think that anyone that has spent more than a few hours on it can see that being in a huge hurry to level everything right now is only going to mean that they will eventually run out of things to do.
Also, I think when people speak of adding more content to the game, what they really want is more jobs and an increased level cap. And we are still a long way out from that happening. I understand that we will get "jobs" next patch but, you won't be leveling them seperatly so what I am really refering to is more classes. I have been waiting for them to add muskateer to the game since the first time i stepped into the guild in LL. Also, with increased level caps ussually comes higher level instances and dungeons. We can only have 6 combat jobs for so long here before things start to feel stagnant to people. I understand WHY we are waiting, but that doesn't make it any easier :P Just my 2 cents.
This thread is hilarious, shows that no matter how much SE define their exact content details and release schedules, people still seem to not understand and throw up incorrect information, when the facts are right in-front of us.
Not to mention, its a bit derailed.
well the people that disagree with the content or feel that their isn't enough content don't understand what content is or are monopolizing the word to fit their personal argument
people who argue Se has failed and is not delivering the expected content that they believe make this game comparable to others like swtor, wow, etc. lack the ability to not judge a game based on another franchises game that base themselves solely on battle content as majority of their content (which Se doesn't). also provide proof that their isn't applicable content in development that suits their personal preference
i have trolled alot in this thread for fun but seriously this game is like no other and i like it being slow pace, i love it being difficult (wish it was harder) and happy with the overall development of the game. the're games out there for everyone if FF14 isn't tickling your fancy go find another that does but i found mine. its just like a baby i want to be right here as it develops and grows. some of us play just to say we did this or that some to take a break from the real world others to support the franchise we've grown to love. whatever brings you to this game to each is own just remember that the supporters of this franchise will always be here to defend it and if you feel you got a good argument you better bring it cause if i read it i know i will <3
Karma 1 vs world 0
Ah, but this game certainly is like no other in the fact that it was released with very few ends in which to substatiate the need to go out and progress your character, save for the simple sake of grinding levels - if you find that experience fun. For those that don't mind it, or one of the few that actually look forward to it, what 'content' this experience amounted to was diminished with patch 1.18 and the onset of powerleveling and the linking system.
So you get there, to Lv50; Possibly you get all your jobs to Lv50 - and you do repeated Darkhold runs because there is an outstanding set of gear inside that fits the needs of all the jobs except Gladiator. Did you get it all? Let's say you did because you like the game, play often and want good gear. How much time (and headache, if you don't run with a static group) did that consume? For anyone, I can tell you it was days upon days. Come 90 days later, with 1.19, that gear is all for naught. The materia system. Twenty-four hours later, the question is, "What Darkhold?" - so it remains.
And for everyone with a Crab Bow +3? The dated gear/materia system and Ifrit. From these trends in development, I can't see how SE is even hopping on one leg as many times as they've shot themselves in the foot and their own attempts at content to the ground. Unfortunately, it hasn't been a single-action revolver, it's been a cannon that has taken players down with them.
This is why, in my opinion, I say they do not know what they're doing and do not hold much hope for 2.0. I doubt I'll even try it.
Urg why do these threads keep popping up?
For starter, it's "SE knows what the f*ck they're doing".
Just think out of the box.
Being the CEO of Square-Enix, you wouldn't invest on a title that is destined to fail, rite? You want it to succeed. That's why they know what the f*ck they're doing; because they are going to rise FFXIV from the grave with a plan in mind. Therefore they know what the f*ck they're doing. Just please don't let me explain this wasting my f*cking time =)
(not related to your points)
A. If it's gonna fail, it's just money thrown in the bath tube.
B. The game, differently from the other failed games, is getting changes to the Core. We are not talking about games that have undergone failing periods trying to get up and putting the same sh*t again. They're putting something that will change the world of Final Fantasy XIV.
I don't know how somebody can get pessimist knowing all of this. Plus, we're getting more content in the future, and people likes content.
But at the end we'll see at 2.0 who is right between you and me =)
