It is possible for identical twins to be of opposite sexes it is just beyond incredibly rare and would require a chromosomal anomaly within the egg being fertilized in which it would have an extra X chromosome. I see the same, her face is quite different from his, and I think you're right it's that it's more rounded. You can tell them apart easily even with identical clothes.

I wish that we could influence the storyline more than we do right now. If I had my way, Alphinaud would be relegated to being the Scion bean-counter that he's always secretly longed to be, and Raubahn or Merlyb or Kan-E would be leading the charge.

Theyre both still somewhat young, so theyre likely to look semi similar. As they grow up, differences will become more pronounced.


All that said, I like Alphinaud. Hes growing on me. Unlike minfillia, which was nothing more than a pretty face who had no agency, Alphinaud is actually a character who does things, messes it up, learns, adn then does more things. Hes actually somewhat interesting, if not a little stuffy.

Hate him and his arrogant sister. I'm happy with Nero and Zenos. The Empire have the best npcs. Lyse is all arrogant with Fordola too. For me they can kill Lyse and we stay with Fordola as our friend and waifu. There is a cutscene that I laugh hard when we kill a mob and than Lyse appears on the fight pose asking if the warrior of light (us) was alright. When we going take the spots on this game and not the npcs? I wanna Yugiri on the holophotes.

While I would love to see more Alisae, I'm not about to sacrifice Alphy time for Lyse time. That girl is something else and is pretty silly IMHO.

'Yda' was more likeable than Lyse. Cause they took her character and tried to make her this tragic heroine whos all tough as nails serious and no nonsense. It flattened her out, and then stuck her in somewhat absurd settings. You cant write a character one way then do a 180 and expect us not to think its strange. Shes got more agency than Minfillia, but now shes just annoying af and boring to interact with.

Ah, well I certainly don't have any screen shots of a MSQ I did years ago, but from what I remember he definitely mentioned that her summoning Shiva into herself either warped or changed her mind and or memories.

Ysayle was DEFINITELY brought up in the most recent MSQ though in regards the treatment of tempered individuals, so at the very least, the cast considers her as such.

Worked the opposite for me instead. I couldn't stand "Yda", I found her irritating beyond measure and completely braindead. Completely out of place in a group of intellectuals too. I was very happy when the unmasking happened and she showed to be an actual person with a brain, a personality, goals etc, and not just a dumb sidekick for Papalaymo.

I hope they get rid of this alpguy and his sither (or is it brother?)eee very soon, i absolut hate him. He ruined most of the Cutscenes in HW and Stormblood for me so far. I skip every cutscenes where he appears, sadly there are only very few without him. I also hoped that ysholda and the others got more screentime but nope..

Arrogant is the last thing Alphinaud is, especially after the Crystal Warriors saga. Alisae's arrogance is only around her brother, because she knows that Alphinaud intentionally steps back because he doesn't want to tread boundaries. Zenos? He's a mindless killing animal that had to be put down. Fordola would kill us the instant we turned our backs on her, because of who we are and what we represent. She is not, nor will she ever, our waifu. The WoL is not evil. We do not work for the Empire. In the games many shades of grey, the Empire is one that is definitely not something most people would support.

We will always take a back seat to the NPCs because this is a JRPG, with a siln

If there's one thing Gaius was right about, it's how weak the city state leaders truly are. They might be powerful individuals, but until the twins showed up, they were content to let Ala Mhigo rot, stay walled within their cities, and let the Scions deal with the primals (Company of Heros was an exception). Alphinaud may appear to be a weal bean counter, but he's shown he can handle himself in a fight (I know many summoners would love to have the moonstone carbuncle), he's the most effective leader and politician in the game, he's one of the few people who genuinely appreciates the toll that WoL is under, and he's also one of the few friends the story gives us.

Fair enough that Yda was more of an airhead of a character, but there was enough underneath the hood to indicate she wasnt a braindead idiot, but someone of complexity. Guess I dont like how they revealed that complexity, cause all the humor and interest of her turned into a hardcore hate shtick for the Garleans who was all serious no nonsense and a little to cliche. But t hats personal preference for me.

Alphinaud's growth just seems more organic in comparison.

Hopefully never, Alphinaud is a great character especially now that they have both twins traveling together with you at points. They can give Lyse the boot if they want though.

And the GC leaders are pathetic, bickering amongst themselves over stupid stuff (seriously, why does the Cartenau "conflict" even exist) and nowhere to be found when you needed them. Weapon of Light, indeed. Only useful when you're helping them.

The only nation leader worth a damn is Aymeric and the only nation worth a damn is Ishgard, because Ishgard stepped up for you when nobody else would and they still step up for you when you need them. No questions asked. When the other guys bailed on you and let the Brass Blades hunt you like a dog, Ishgard was like, "you Ul'dahns come in here and you're gonna find out what an army of Dragoons descending on your heads feels like".

I wouldn't mind less Alphinaud for the rest of the expac to be fair. Yeah ok he ain't that bad, but considering how much screen time Y'shtola had in HW being in the lifestream etc and then in SB being bedridden it just feels like it's always Alphinaud here or there. Kinda glad Alisae got more time though, but maybe the Scions need some fresh blood. People are either dead or on the cusp of dying most of the time...

I hope he dies soon, he is really irritating and arrogant. I was hoping the braves would do it, but I was disappointed. I'd like his carbuncle to savage him to death, then I'd adopt it :)

Honestly, I have always liked Alphinaud and enjoyed his character throughout the story, now that Alisae is in our group, the two have the most entertaining dynamic of any of the scions (hell most of the scions flat out lost personality, rip Thancred)

The longer he stays around, the better.

I'm so freaking sick of Alphinaud. He may have been a necessary plot device in the second half of ARR after that post-Titan s***storm happened, and honestly he felt like a 3rd wheel in Heavensward (I would've been content with just Estinien, Ysayle, and later Y'shtola), but I can't really understand why he needs to be everywhere in Stormblood too. Alisae was a breath of fresh air to me, she was actually fun to travel around with.

And Lyse is a whole other bag of nope. The only good thing about Lyse I saw in the entirety of SB so far is the jacket she had before the red dress (which still isn't dyeable btw). Every time she comes on screen, I find myself actually missing that happy-go-lucky lovable idiot she used to be.

tl;dr- Less Alphinope & Lyse, more Alisae & Yugiri.

Not before his sister at the very least, I hope :) I mean, I found her pretty cool, especially in Coils and as our travel companion (especially compared to Lyse, who I reeeeaaaally hope ends up just appearing from time to time as her nation leader now... can't stand her to the point I skip all cutscenes that have her speak more than 2 sentences or so v.v ), but I feel like recently she exists solely for making fun of Alphinaud. And while it's funny once in a while, he's so easy to make fun of, it's getting a bit stale already IMO.

I'm on board for 'Alphie' getting a sleep dart or twenty to the neck. I never understood why they went with actual kids as some of the most prominent heroes of the story (barring WoL obviously.) Hell, actually even as WoL, all we do is nod our head to the kids' wishes and go run along. I don't think any character deserves a death, but a long hiatus or even just stepping down from the forefront would be fine with me.

I've never liked Alisae. She and Lyse were the worst parts of SB for me. Yugiri got on my nerves when it involved Zenos. I use to like her but she has dragged me into some foolish quests that I would have declined if given an actual choice.

I'd say more aloof than arrogant. Stormblood has really developed her. She's very self aware, as she knew her limitations with magic and choose to learn about red mages. She know her brother is better in the planning room than on the field (although they're both accomplished fighters). She's detached, yes, but she was willing to stay back and fend off the red kojin. She'll never be a people person, but she's learned a great deal about assessing people's strengths and weaknesses.

How to turn an Alphinaud into an Alphiyes

As I mentioned before, you and Alphinaud represent the WoL concept. You're both technically a WoL, just in different aspects.

So the only way he's getting "sent offscreen for a long time" is if you do.

Even the war itself Lyse seemed to not do much, she did more in ARR and HW

Alphinaud had the most solid and compelling character development in the whole game so far. Lyse irritates me, I hate the way they try to pass her off as (SOMEONE ELSE) yet she is nothing like her. Would have preferred if they just said she was her sister all along and introduced her as a new character tbh. Plus I feel like she's trying way too hard, yet at the same time comes off as completely lacking confidence and somehow that's just a really annoying combination. If she doesn't even like herself (which clearly she doesn't) then how on earth am I supposed to?

Alphinaud has earned my respect. He started as a cocky little know-it-all. He got knocked down HARD, held a lot of grief over it for much of HW and then finally became more humble. He lost confidence in himself and then slowly got it back. I love him. We went through a lot together. HW has been my favorite content so far as far as story goes. SB is introducing a lot of neat stuff but the story is lack luster in comparison (at least imo). HW's story made me feel very close to all the characters and Ishgard in general. I hope we travel back there some time.

In any case, Alphy isn't taking up THAT much screen time. But I'd sure love to see more Alisaie; she has become such a likable character and I always enjoy when she's around. More relatable than Alphinaud is and basically a polar opposite to him so that's always fun. :p

Considering that he’s a kid (I think he still counts as one) He’s probably not going to die.(At least on camera.) We’ll probably be told he’s dead or we’ll find him dead somewhere. Of course our character will be sad about it. I don’t know how I’d personally feel about him dying though. I think I’d rather have him sent off-screen for a while.

I like Alphy, he started off as an annoying character who eventually grew into one of the most developed of the cast. If I were to label him as a character from ANY FF game (including spin-offs), he comes across a bit like Ramza. Uses his skills at diplomacy as much as he can, but isn't afraid to beat down if he needs to (and he has to beat down a lot).

Alphy needs to up his Carbys, cuz I want them.

Agreed 100% with this. Alisasie is amazing and I adore her. I would love to have her running about with me all the time, and Lyse can really just stay where she is and it would be great if I never had to adventure with her ever again. I love the story in this game and I found myself skipping the cutscenes with her mostly in them.
