I'm always game for more races (equally up there for extending the customization of current ones), but they should always have their own distinct feel - even if its very minor. The small "cute" ones would just be clashing with the lala's, and if they toned down the original variant, it would just be another Miqote type. In FFXI (oh crap i mentioned it) the Mithra were much more wild looking and fit the theme of Kazham/Elshimo; Even the slight changes made for miqote makes them look much more docile for lack of a better term. So if the Viera took that role here, at least they would fill a different theme.
Edit: What also helped were the race specific animations.... Elvaan were high-school wannabe cool guy with mix of stout elegance, Mithra more pronounced and active in their movements, Galka lumbering with a forceful feel, and so on.
Likes on a post don't mean anything when there's no dislike button.
It's like everyone is being forced in liking the idea, so the only thing those people can do is comment why they don't like the idea.
Previous thread is at 86 likes which is far more than this thread has: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...-a-possibility
Anyway, your character reminds me of Tom Cruise.
But that thread was made during August of last year. I made this thread yesterday and I already have nearly half the likes of that other thread. I assume this is so because in that particular viera thread, they want a different type of viera that strays a bit from the concept art. I guess this may seem like a copy thread, but I strictly want a viera that is closer to the concept art, and I felt it was important to make that distinction. Furthermore, this is strictly a support thread. I want people to be able to post viera pictures here, maybe even show us their own fanart. Perhaps talk about how viera would be incorporated in ffxiv lore. I want to generate talk about viera.~
Kill the wabbit, kill the wabbit, kill waaaaaabbbittt
Rabbits are known for burrowing. Perhaps since we're going to a desert, there could be a great sprawling metropolis buried beneath the sand built by Viera? Rabbits can be found in all climates after all, no need to limit them to woods like the miqote were.

Seen this thread?
Look at all the likes, still no change. And they even said outright that they would not make this happen. Atleast that they did not have any plans on it for the near future.
So basicly the number of likes does not (unless lucky I guess) change the outcome unless SE already had plans for it.
That's because no one expects the arctic expedition! ...Did I do that right? Bad memes aside, that's one idea I had. I do love the idea of a race having ornate underground cities, and since rabbits are known to burrow, that was the first thing that came to mind. After all, we're going to All Mhigo, but nothing says there can't be an underground city somewhere nearby, right? XD
I do like the sound of an underground city. There's a lot of creative ways you could design it. I went to look up some underground cave pictures and this is what I found:

I can see the taller ones and the shorter ones being two different clans if they become the new race.
If we're to get a short race, it needs to not be cute. Give players who want to play a short race (but hate that the only options are cute/creepy) an option.
That said, no to rabbit ear elves (they will never be Viera as SE will most likely take away their claws and three toed rabbit feet). Anyway, based on what was apparently said at the Fan Fest, anything that is beastly, ugly or not cute will most likely never be a playable race in this game.
Just because people disagree with what you like they're toxic and get things off-track? ...Okay.
A forum is a place for people to express their opinion, not for a group of people to hold off other people opinions just because they don't like it, that's not how forums work.
If you can't stand other people opinions i wonder why you bother coming here.
I want Viera so bad <3
To those claiming "discussions" against the implementation of a Viera race being relevant in a thread titled Viera as the next new race~ Show your support: (taken from the posted general rules post, point number 1) Please keep all posts on topic. Making off topic posts will only cause confusion and miscommunication. When you create a new thread, please do not mix multiple unrelated topics into a single thread. Instead, please create an individual thread based on each topic.
When one presents their views, it is often with proof that you are intelligent enough to read the title of the thread and comprehend its meaning. Post arguing against Viera in This thread show otherwise.
In support of Viera,

You didn't stick to the topic either. Instead of showing your support for the Viera you went off-topic and posted something completely different from what the topic wants you to post.
I guess no one is perfect. =/
Maybe you should make a new thread with the topic about how people should stick to the topic and the topic alone when posting.
I know. I'm just being a prick now. =P
Hmm... You were supporting the rules about how posts should stay on topic.
Down the line that supports a thread with the topic on supporting Viera.
And further down the line by making people only post good things about the Viera it is supporting the topic.
But you yourself didn't support the Viera directly, as the topic say you should.
So in the end you didn't stay on topic.
But don't feel bad. No one's perfect. We still love you. ♥
Edit
editing your post and adding a picture and a few words is a little too late to prove me wrong. ;)
Something like a slightly younger version of the Midlander Hyur option would be a nice change.

Attempting to shut people down again because you dislike their opinions.. this is new and exciting. Regardless what the OP requested, a topic posted in "General Discussion" is free to be openly discussed, whether for or against the OP's vision, whether it be a welcomed or unwelcome thought. You; nor the OP, get to decide if people against the idea get to post in the thread. Deal with it.
:rolleyes:Quote:
On a smarter note
Yes indeed on a smarter note, if you paid any attention; which clearly you haven't, I'm not speaking out against Viera... only said that we don't need them in 4.0. Add them when it better makes sense along with ANY new race. We don't need another 2.0 story of the Domans "We showed up here because our country blah blah blah."
Add another race when we get further from Eorzea.. not when we're going to the neighboring country.
I'm aware it was. Welcome to General Discussion.
^^^^^ That's a very good point. I wish more people thought of that instead of trying to make SE pump out new races.
And there's never going to be a 100% support thread without naysayers. That's just how people work. Even if OP made the most safe place'iest title, there will still be people who hate the idea commenting on how stupid it is. /shrug just ignore it and move on.
EDIT: on board the viera train...just when the timing is right~
I totally support Viera as the next race! Yoshi pls
I give support, as long as there are the two tribes, the normal viera, and those midget ones too :)
And male viera. Please no one gendered race.
How is saying we're against Viera offtopic, are you nuts? Do you even know what offtopic means?
Yeah you clearly have no idea whats offtopic means.
You can't silence other people just because you don't like their opinion, you can't lock a thread to a group of people who only like the idea.
Everyone here has to pay a sub to be able to post, everyone has the right to give their opinion, welcome to "internet forums".
If you go to the Lodestone there's plenty of characters named after Freya or using a variant of it, so there's plenty of people who like Burmecians.
Anyway it's a good thing you're not the one who decides what's good and what's bad.

This pic has a major Wakfu feel to it. Love it X)
Viera outfit craftable pls !
Some people like Viera for their aesthetic, the lore that surrounds them, their voices, etc. Not simply because they are human with bunny ears. They'd be a tall race that is proportional and elegant.
You just discredited yourself. You said humanoid and beastly. Adding blue skin color with a less human-like face is no different than Viera. Lol.
Not exactly a Viera but a rabbit/human race nonetheless

The Lyn race sometimes go from creepy to cute if you use the character creation right they can look like average teens, just with with anime-ish eyes. Viera for all! X)
No thank you, we already have enough of this in game. IF it means taking away other resources, like, for example..updating character models (or giving us back our 1.x models) or expanding upon current character creation..HELL NO.
Haha I remember Yoshida did NOT want to share these concept designs...

I mean sure, you never know but...this would be extremely boring if they added this in ._. just my two cents...Quote:
A couple months ago, you showed off the new race, the Au Ra… but you also showed concept art of the Viera, who appeared in Final fantasy XII and other games. Why did you decide against their inclusion as a playable race?
The issue with the Viera is that, if you look at them, they're basically humanoid save for their long rabbit ears and their heels. We already have a mostly humanoid race with animal ears in the Mi'qote. When we looked at those initial Viera concepts, it just seemed like a Mi'qote with bunny ears instead of cat ears. It simply wasn't different enough. Especially when we did the male designs… they didn't look beastly enough, they were just a little too cute. We wanted to make something that was original to the Final Fantasy series, and to do that, we decided to step away from the Viera.
