Do you pay a monthly fee to be angry at people?

Where are you hanging out? I think there are times where it's just a string of terrible experiences, but the environment you're in (and probably the age/maturity of players) can also play a factor. My FC mates rarely even mouth off in PVP. With no relaxed place to retreat to, the negative experiences can start building up.

Yesterday I had a Brayflox normal run where the healer and tank both died twice in under five minutes. There was one nasty comment, but after that the healer left, we got a new one, and finished fast. A couple of the bombs in Copperbell died and we just told them not to kill them. *shrug*

This is the result of sheep spreading this "efficiency" garbage in this and other forums. I'd attribute this to a "Monkey see, monkey do" mentality, but even this example would be an insult to monkeys.

idk his story is so nonsensical that I'd like to hear the other side of it. From his perspective it's just so obvious that the tank was wrong; I've run into some strange people in the game, but you may as well argue that the sky is orange. Maybe that's really how it went down, but condemning all speedrunning from that is a bit premature imo.

Normally I would be like this is far fetched but before I got my SMN to 60 I had a tank yell at me in the vault because I wasn't using deathflare ummm I wasn't lvl 60 lol and even if I was I would be synced at 58!!! So I tried explaining that and he swore I was lying so I just left lol

Off-topic but for OT its actually less hassle to voke Opressor itself as 0.5 will automatically has MT on hes main target when he spawns.

Yes, I can imagine that with a really good coordination and gear you can manage it, but that's never the case in DF.

Dunno how you should know what your group is capable of. The only are before that is super easy to full-pull even for an normally geared group.

My point is you can not only manage it with gear/coordination, you can lulz through it. It's not a ridiculous expectation. In the poster's case they weren't up for it, but a decent amount of pugs are. He made it sound outlandish to even attempt.

Inspecting/Examining a character is sometimes all you need to do.

So you are saying this is only a one sided case? in a 8 man boss fight, the 1 person can be wasting 7 other peoples time and also their money, thats just as rude, things are never one way only.

The 7 people having their time wasted are also people, no consideration given to them at all I see.

I don't think the cross-dungeon duty finder is to blame. I do think it makes an existing problem worse, but not extent that it outweighs the benefit of saving players some time (with queues). That scenario you're painting where "you had to do everything with your server and knew everyone".. I haven't seen that since way back when Meridian 59 launched. And the reasons for that were:

1) small server populations where everyone could actually get to know everyone else
2) MMOs were not as popular as they are now, you had to really like the MMO concept to be playing one back then
3) characters needed other characters to survive, and that made being friendly crucial (which ties in to your thoughts on consequences)

But, even as far back as the original Everquest the antisocial behavior started rearing its ugly head, and there were no cross-server duty finders back in those days. But the server populations were large, MMOs were becoming more mainstream, and (to an extent) the dependency on other characters diminished.

I do agree with your thoughts on today's generation of kids (who are really not kids any longer, even if they still act that way).

This is why I just go find an isolated fishing spot, or craft in a corner. Players are scary..

So yeah, money gets spent for stupid reasons on a daily basis.

People tend to be the loudest the most when they are upset. This applies everywhere in life. Content people usually don't speak up about how happy they are on a whim. This shouldn't be a surprise to anywhere.

I went in as tank in a JAPANESE trial roulette, of all things; it was in-progress Steps of Faith. Not even a minute in, the only person to speak English in the party chat said this:

While the other party members, who were all Japanese (because, you know, we ticked J because we can actually read and speak it), were discussing how to deal with the duty that they had also just dropped in on.

Mind-boggling, really.

I'm on Siren and I rarely see these vile players on this data center. Don't get me wrong, I've met some memorable assholes, too, but it makes me wonder if some players misinterpret indifference or kurtness as anger.

So, when someone is being rude because they do mistake (according to you), the logical thing to do is being rude to them?
And that's not what I meant at all anyway.

I mean rude people that immediately have to rage about 1 mistake made. People that are rude to new people because they are new. People that are unfriendly because someone likes to do smileys. Those kind of people.

And if you expect to have everything go smoothly, then give advice to people instead of being rude and rage at them. Raging at them won't help, but will even hinder the progress more, since they will most likely do even more errors when you rage at them.
If you give advice instead, people will maybe improve instead and your "wasted time" will decrease.

What's with all the xenophobia? Why act like Japanese (or any other country except America) players are some kind of holy vessels when they have problems all their own? In XI racism was rampant because there were no separation between NA and JP servers, so you'd see a ton of JP ONLY groups or Japanese flat out refusing to play with Americans (even if said American spoke Japanese) purely due to segregation. I know that was XI and this is XIV, but the point still stands that I deeply believe you're putting on blinders when it comes to how similar both groups deal with each other.

I do agree that Japan has a different mindset about teamwork, but I disagree that the NA community is nearly as bad as some make it out to be.

talking in absolutes like this shows how narrow minded you really are. It's more of an insult to assume that every Japanese player has the same mindset then you think. They're not drones, and guess what: they have the same base emotions as Americans. SHOCKER! Yes, maybe more go quiet than not, but the same can be applied to Americans as well. I personally leave a DF if I feel the group will not succeed, e.g I give three strikes (sometimes more) while providing criticism and then I dip. In XI, I've seen Japanese players call players dirty gaijins, should I assume all JP players think that way?

In short, your sample size is just that, yours, and you're either a troll or simply ignorant. I hope it's the former :s.

They have the same emotions, yes, but they are culturally conditioned to not show the ones that might make them stand out.

(Google it) ...That's what happens when a (usually Japanese) person (and almost always a young male adult) can no longer take the stress or pressures of his/her expectations. Because, it's the result of escaping from the failure to keep up with the demands put upon them (often times, unrealistic or tangential to their life goals placed upon them by their parents). Because it's at the very core of Japanese society: living up to expectations. They are not allowed to stand out or make a scene, lest they get ostracized by their peers or superiors.

Ever lived in Japan for any period of time (as in not vacationing)? You would learn very quickly to adapt to their culture and values, or you will be on the receiving end of ridicule. Assuming you aren't breaking any laws, you'd probably be committing any number of faux pas.

There are some rebels of course. And they tend to dress to get it, and welcome the attention they get. But most do not: Some are adventurous, but most are more reserved.

Drones? No. But they show a great deal of decorum in any public setting. This extends to MMOs as well. In private, on the other hand, like in a close-knit FC or with friends or family, they can open up and fully express themselves.

Don't assume I'm as ignorant as you. I learnt the language, that also means I learnt the culture too. :p lol

The forums can be fun to read. Maybe worth the 15$ a month. The fights and such that go on here can be quite funny.

I did have some of this kind of play in Archeage when people were worried about their public appearance. However, I had a lot of fun stealing ships and blowing them up and pirating people like this. I just wish the game wasn't so.. "Korean.." ugh.. they ruined the game with its RNG and Pay to DOMINATE.

I don't care about my public image, never did. However if I went to a place I did, I would probably have to adjust because whilst I don't care what people say about me.. i'd rather look like someone people would like. ;P

I remember playing Archeage and there were 100 people in line for a quest, and I swooped down and killed the people in the front and then took their update from them and then flew away and used a boost to run. Was hilarious!

Anyways, if the game did have fun contested content I would love to fight others for updates and quests and gear again. Nothing like challenging others to content and having to contest it, really brings out the best in people.

I also love all the excitement, the trains and having to watch what you pull or you wipe and start all over. Miss it so much.

Maybe the OP should just change people to play with? Over here we're all plenty happy, or if someone's angry, it's generally at real life stuff.
