Pretty sure there are Japanese players that does the exact same thing. But if you don't speak Japanese..you probably wouldn't know.

Had this discussion with sum of the nin in my fc, the gen feeling is that you should have *some* idea when a goad might be helpfull (example: huge pulls that force a melee to use aoes or anytime you have a war in the party) instead you have a legion of narutards who just dont.
I let people play w/e they want. For Causal content, I really don't see the issue. For something like Coil or EXs, that's completely different. The way this game has become a "Oh view a guide on how to play and stuff" is really sickening. I shouldn't have to review a guide to play the game. Everything is view a guide, view a guide. Many people (myself included) don't learn from watching a damn guide. Some learn more when actually doing the fight. Who is honestly gonna sit there viewing and studying everything in the guide?
That's different. That's easy to gauge that any melee class is gonna need TP soon. But come to a boss fight, it's hard to tell cause my TP like never goes lower than 840.
It's pretty hard to do this in FCOB at least, but yea in some lesser content it's easier. *edit-in, in reference to the idea of having 'more than two people who need Goad'*
In a full party / Raid of FCOB, you will have (at max) 3 TP users. Bard, Melee1, Melee2. Seeing as how you have a Ninja, you only have 2 partners - Bard and Melee 1.
This is why as a NIN, you run a cycle. At the start of the fight, use Goad on Melee #1. When it comes off cooldown, use it on the bard. This doesn't account for if your WAR/PLD burns his TP out, but extending these two classes like this is the most common method for Goad use.
I don't like to generalize and stereotyping, but I have made characters in 5 US servers - and had to transfer 2 of them, while the rest stay unplayed for the reasons I listed before. Too many trolls, RMT tells, and just general shenanigans. You could be in a good server with polite US players and great FC, but if you keep encountering trolls on duty finder, or half the time, your groups does not know how to play their roles properly, there is only so many "good faith" I have left lol.
I think there is a Redit post that summarize it, Japanese players use party finder to practice and find out the mechanic (even for dungeons) - and US players use duty finder to "figure out how to play". Also most US players do not bother reading description of abilities, have no clue on how to properly do their combo rotation, very few even bother researching what their jobs need to do, and half of them always come under geared - and you have a nice hot mess of a disaster stew waiting to explode.
Look, watching youtube video and reading description of the fight mechanics is not gonna make you a GENIUS FANTASTIC player instantly - but knowing what to expect is better than going blind. Granted, if you are a player who are seasoned, it really does not take you very long to figure out the mechanic. BUT, sadly, the majority of US players, are not "well seasoned - highly trained - pay attention to telegraphed move". These are people who DO NOT read messages/information/tips/party chat - anything that the game + helpful players trying to point out. These are the players who respond to "stop telling me what to do + i play how i want + shut up + tank better + heal better"....
Fellow Ninjas, stop using Doton on single target pls.
I don't learn very well from videos either. That doesn't mean I should completely forego watching them, though. I've found it's a lot better to watch them, get whatever you can from them (if only the names of the mechanics and to see generally what they do) then go into the fight and check it out. After you try for a bit, go back and watch the video again. It usually makes more sense. Going into something completely blind may be fun for you, but it's not fun to the rest of your party when they already have an idea of what's happening. I'm not really sure why people go into DF (or ninja into farm/clear parties) to learn rather than setting up a learning party anyway.
Elazu you are rude as well as the individuals who you are targeting. You want to know what you two have in common ? Neither of you respect the play styles of others. This whole thread is filled of individuals jumping on your bandwagon of berating individuals of another group because the way they play don't sit well with the way you play which often enough results in a shit storm being formed. Sad thing is, there are ways known by yourself as well as most to avoid this. We all can't get along, but the least we can do is respect each other even if we don't agree with another's playstyle.
If you feel like you dont give two damns about putting out the best you can, or even SEEKING out putting the Best, then don't Party with people who are, out of consideration. That shit is fucking annoying...wiping because of it. People can say a its just a game for fun, but everyones idea of fun differs greatly, and for some of us it's breaking beyond the limit of the average to achieve a certain goal, whether it's T5, T9, T13, Alexander(I can see the Fuuuture), Satasha NM etc. The Joy you get when you down Coil Bosses that gate many people is so great, and then down the stuff more efficiently than before...Hot damn. That shouldn't be taken away by someone not willing to push themselves. Dont like watching Videos because you feel you shouldn't have to because the people first completing it didn't need a Video (Decribes my best friend -_-). Are you quick to pick up on things without the video ? Then by all means...but don't drag down 7 others because you're unwilling to think about others besides yourself...
If you feel like Seeing people make mistakes that you think they shouldn't, that doesn't sit well with you while you play, then don't put yourself in a situation that will most likely expose you to that. There are a Plethora of reasons as to why someone may be performing the way that they are, reasons of which are not revealed to us beyond the actions of our Characters during gameplay that may not be as simple as " U Lag ? Upgrade Comp " or " Gitgud ". I understand these things, and because I do and rather not ask a million questions like " Do you possess any medical condition that may prevent you from performing at your best ? Have you been in any accident recently that have damaged your limbs/Fingers ? Are you playing Console and unable to do many things with a Controller ? Do Titan or (Enter Boss Name) make you relive horrible events in your past that may make you incapable of completing the The task at hand...I form a Static or Party Finder with Specific requirements, seeking individuals with the similar mindset whether it's Maxing Performance or just having fun and learning. The Duty Finder is for "Everyone" But is also where you are likely to encounter the things you dislike as it is pulling from every server.
If you find yourself unable to deal with this and see yourself coming to the forums for the sole reason of masking negativity behind trying to advise others on how to play (Not respecting each others Playstyle) Then Just don't Duty find. There are other channels one can go through which produces better results. There are some things that I absolutely refuse to use Duty Finder for because I know there is a chance, however high that I will encounter the things that will annoy me. While I found some of the points funny and not taking them seriously...I'll be lying if I said I didn't think this thread was made with the intent to vent about a specific group of individuals, and I'll be lying if I said I didn't find the bandwagon to be dicks.
TL;DR
Both sides be considerate of the other.
Sometimes it slips out when Mudra lag happens. Better than nothing...or a Rabbit Medium /shudders.
With that said, take your time when performing your hand signs, nothing worse than having a failed Ninjutsu twice in a row and losing Huton. Your dps isn't going to be ruined that badly as long as you're staying locked on and in auto-attack range of the boss for as long as possible.
"I can't be bothered to play well" does not deserve respect. Neither does "I play how I want, regardless of how detrimental it is to my fellow party members". And that is the main issue here, especially because a pretty big part of the playerbase seems to share this attitude and does not want to hear advice or use actual strategies for boss fights. They are content with and feel entitled to be a nuisance to the other players around them.
Also, why do we, as players who do their job and put an effort into clearing the duty, need to back down from using the duty finder?
This just reminds me of those "snow flakes" summoners who wants to use Ifrit or Titan on end game "hard mode or expert" dungeon. I mean, there are reasons why certain things are regarded as more "effective" within the community, and if you play that class, you kinda expected to know your normal combo and rotation (and what pet you should use). Granted, the most optimal ways of doing may be somewhat restrictive and only give you very few variant - but it has been tested to be the most effective when it comes to outputting the most damage.
I can just see those "snow flakes" running around with "BUT I want to be DIFFERENT, I am so SPECIAL, I do what I want, I don't follow others, I know what I am doing!!" If you are indeed good, and well versed with the knowledge of your class abilities and rotation and able to come up with a slight variation of "the normal combo that is regarded effective" - then by all means do it. Not being able to clear bosses or wiping multiple times because you "want to be different" is causing griefs to other - and wasting their time - which is a very rude thing to do.
Sure . . . IF someone specifically asks me to use it.
See, Bards have an advantage - we can see mana pools in the party window, so as a Bard I can activate mana song if I feel it is needed. And, yes, I will be the one to judge that so don;t go panicking and yelling for mana song when your mana pool is 3/4 full - I will ignore you. Really, with the BLM's ability to restore mana as part of their rotation and SMN/SCH is literally IMPOSSIBLE to make a dent in mana, the only ones I have to watch out for are tanks and WHM, so I'll toss it on if one of them is down to 25% mana. I main as a SCH, and I actually facepalm and chuckle when we do not have a WHM and the tanks are FM and a Bard starts popping off mana song (nothing like wasting 25% DPS to try and look cool playing a tune, eh?)
However, SE apparently does not consider Bard TP song to be important or Goad, apparently, or they'd slap in a UI to monitor the party's TP. So o9nly the party can determine how important it is. Therefore, when on NIN, if you do not ask me for Goad directly, I won't even use it. If no one asks then the PROPER and CORRECT assumption is that you are doing fine and actually know how to manage your TP (managing TP is like managing mana - it CAN be done, but no one bothers to try because they like to use Bards and NINs like crutches).
Yeah I can see the difference playing in US server and Japan server. The Ninjas over there give it to the tanks (if the other DPS is BLM) without you have to even ask for it. They say hello nice to meet you at the beginning of each dungeons, and pretty much aware of what their roles are (which is NOT about "I am the King of the Universe - it's all about me - I am the best - me, me, me, me, I want, want, want, everyone else can you pass lot please). Most run are pretty smooth, unless you have first timer, and if that you only need to tell them once. Granted this is not 100% all of them are perfect master race, but in general I met a higher rate of competent players in Japan servers VS US servers.
" If you find yourself unable to deal with this and see yourself coming to the forums for the sole reason of masking negativity behind trying to advise others on how to play (Not respecting each others Playstyle) " Then Just don't Duty find. -Hohenheim (Me)
You somehow magically missed the beginning of that Paragraph Bro >.>. Still Im going to address your Point. Before you make decisions, I assume that you weight your options before doing so. You already recognize that certain gaming behaviour cause you to get Annoyed/Mad/Raggafragga. Duty Finder is by 1 of a few methods of which you can go about achieving what you're out to Achieve. Duty Finder cannot achieve anything that Forming a Static or Using the Party Finder couldn't (Unless ur simply going for Commendations which just hit my mind just now). With the last two, you yourself can control more of the factors that you wouldnt be able to in duty finder. Get individuals that Hey...want to push it to the Max just like you or even Take it easy just like the others. Get Specific classes that accommodate each other well, as well as a chance to converse with individuals before partaking in the content to get a grasp of if they know what they're doing or not. Yes its not perfect methods, but again you possess more control over the factors than with Duty finder.
Point being, you think before doing the action. You know yourself that everyone in this whole game doesn't hold the same ideas of good game play as you. Duty Finder Pulls from all servers, meaning the chances increases greatly that you encounter someone who does something you particularly as an individual doesn't like. YOU STILL CHOOSE TO USE DUTY FINDER, Rolling the Dice despite understanding that "This" Is what you can get ? You are free to do whatever the hell you want with the Risk getting wrecked, but you have no one to Blame but yourself, and your aggression/Negativity should not be directed towards any group just because you took the risk.
You get annoyed with Certain play and expect "Randoms" to play a certain way BUT You Still use Duty Finder. I can understand if this was the ONLY Viable Method...but it's NOT! Jesus Christ Man What sense does doing this Make!? I Honestly want to know lol
The ability to see TP is actually one of the most requested features that the developers are working on implementing, and Tank and Spank fights like Five-headed Dragon will cause Paladin MTs to run out of TP if the fight drags out for longer than 3 minutes 45 seconds unless the RNG favors them with Shield Swipe procs (and those will only extend TP by 2.5 seconds per proc).
Well I don't play on either of those. I play on Eu servers. US servers are . . . well I won;t start a flame war here but you can guess how I feel there. Japan servers . . . OH how I WISH I could play there. I have a lot of Japanese friends, and I can even speak Japanese enough to hold a basic conversation, and I am still learning. But I cannot read Kanji, so it would be too hard for me to play on one of those servers.
I would have no problem tossing a buff to a tank if I know when to do it. The skill has a bit of a cool down to it, so it is wisest to wait until it is needed before injecting them with TP. It's the same concept as a healer spamming you with Lustrate when you are full health, then you take a HUGE hit and they can;t cast Lustrate because Aether is on CD. Fortunately, most tanks on my server have macros they click when they get low on TP. The most common is along the lines of "I'm low on TP. Can I get a Bard Song/Ninja Buff to compensate please?" Not worded like that, but the basic structure is there. And I appreciate macros that communicate.
As long as the team COMMUNICATES and talks to each other, I am all over that. And like you mentioned, teams on my server often start with at least a hello and some communication when we start. unfortunately, though, I also get plenty of the silent parties and, one VERY big challenge to an EU server are communication barriers. People are in such a huge rush to queue up that they will queue even into languages they have no clue how to speak. When I queue up, I make sure the only language checked is English . . . last night I ended up in a party where 3 of us started having a conversation while we ran the dungeon. The 4th guy started spamming the chat with the auto-translate "Please use the auto translate function", and there was no way we could tell him that we weren't talking to him or relaying instructions, but just having a friendly conversation in general. If I ever get to a point in my Japanese that I can actually read Kanji, I definitely plan to move to a JP server, because universal communication is a must on any team.
Annnnd i got way off topic there, but yeah back ON topic . . . ALL classes need to do their jobs and help out where they can. I do wish this game had more diversity in skill trees though. The way this game is designed, everyone plays precisely the same way and absolutely has to use the exact same skills in the exact same order. This is the ONLY MMO that I have ever played that does this. Other MMO games - you can have your own skill set, rotation and such, make yourself unique but still get the job done. This is not enough to make me stop playing FFXIV, as I love the game and plan to continue playing, but threads like this are definitely a consequence of just such a limitation. People will monitor you in their parsers and such, and pull logs if they are static group commanders, and if you aren't following the published rotations precisely, you WILL get kicked from the team. That's expected. And if you slip up and not follow the published rotation and do not get kicked, you will end up causing threads like this. Your best bet is to try your best to get the rotation right and the timing right.
But in defense of the other side, if you need a buiff and it hasn't been cast on you, ask for it. If you are a WHM and need mana often, make a macro for the Bards (as a Bard I try to watch your mana, but sometimes a macro with a sound effect can definitely get my attention if I end up losing focus of the party bars to dodge mechanics, switch targets, kill adds, etc.) SCH - well you literally can;t run out of mana ever so no worries there. Tank and DPS - don;t be afraid to have a macro that asks for TP. Asking is part of communication, because, again, Bards or Nins may be distracted at the moment with mechanics, adds, etc. Depending on the fight, priorities sometimes are different Talk. Ask. And you shall certainly receive.
I am frankly surprised it's not already in there. The coding is there - all they have to do is code in UI coordinates for a new set of bars duplicating the mana bars, but just tell the script to display TP instead of MP. If they ever do ad this, I think a LOT of these issues such as where this thread started from would actually disappear.
EDIT: Okay maybe not. After I posted I remembered that even though we can see MP, there's still a ton of "Dear Bard, use Ballad" threads. So more realistically, seeing TP bars will help those of us that actually care about seeing them XD There, fixed.
And why the hell do signatures always disappear when you edit a post? :P
Oh, is this one of those threads?
Dear Paladins:
75% of your skill bar is defensive cooldowns. Please start using them instead of telling healers to 'heal harder' during tankbuster attacks.
This is another of absurd thread saying "others sux and i'm already doing my job" thread.. OP can just leave advice saying players should use ninjutsu instead of bragging and pointing players to be sux.. If i were to point out things, you peep who claim to be already doing yer job are practically doing the same thing by saying "i"m playing the way i want bruh" since you just claim to play it strictly to your "job description" which is pretty much doesnt span anything into using any specific action to use and claiming that you just dont want to play harder to cover up and babysit the weakness of other players..
Its quite simple lvlagmarink
dps role = maximum dps (unless either a mechanics require you to tone down or b tank cannot maintain aggro which will cause a wipe)
Dodge crap
Use debuffs and buffs if applicable on that dps role
Tank roles:
Dodge crap
Hold 100% hate
Maximum dps while maintaining hate
Correct use of cooldowns to take as least dmg as possible
healer roles:
Dodge crap
keep the party alive
(dps if possible)
If you happily play your role with minimum effort there's something wrong
Believe it or not, most people are content with just pushing buttons at random.
Yeah that is something about FFXIV that bugs me compared to any other MMO I play. You can NOT customize your rotation. Every class has an assigned and VERY VERY specific rotation they have to use - even those of us who are main healers. We can NOT deviate from that rotation.
However, I choose to play FFXIV, so I choose to abide by those specified rotations and do my job as the developers have designed my job to do it. FFXIV still makes me happy even with these assigned and specified rotations - at least in FFXIV healers are still needed. I quit GW2 because they eliminated any need for healers completely by making EVERYONE a healer. ~facepalm~ So much for teamwork. Now it's a zerg game.
People here - not pointing the finger at Ninjas . . . . I am pointing it at EVERYONE, including myself - just needs to learn their jobs, learn the required rotations for their job (they are found on Google all over the place), and quit trying to be individuals with your class. You want to be an individual? Get some nice gear and glamour the hell out of it to look different, but you cannot be different in your rotations. It doesn't work that way in this game and all you will do is get people pissed at you and posting threads like this one.
You do realise that there's need to be balanced between the 3 whereas it would be called holy trinity.. And it should be balanced to what's the party need at that time, not in a way that other people can use this, when one cant that means that person sux..
However my statements in regard to this topic is that there is no such specific things saying someone need to use x as in the description of a job they are playing.. Heck is i even saved a tank and healer once on BLM because i used psychic in in game content, which i dont think any other BLM would use..
If you read my point, i'm not by all means against people giving advice on getting efficient in playing, but pointing out people to be crap about it is very vague as in people can clear x content anyway and next question would be if "action" is actually needed in the fight or not..
I really have no idea if someone can clear a content happily with minimum effort can be called wrong.. That's being relaxing casual alright..
Why is this thread still in existence? No one is going to change for the good or the bad. You guys need to.... "Let it go!"
In all fairness, if I don't use a Ninjutsu, it's because the lag caught me. Sometimes, it's only enough to throw the Shuriken lol...
Sometimes, my Mudras active like TEN...JIN...CHI... Sometimes it's TEN............CHI lol
During leveling blm most of the join in progresses i got were me main healing due to no healer, obviously if in certain situations you will be required to stop dpsing whether it be crowd control due to over pulling by tank or accidental aggro.
My point about minimum effort is aimmed towards those that just stick to their main 3 move combo stand i.e on a boss if a blm doesn't thunder, ninja doesnt maintain debuffs etc etc
This puts extra strain on the healer and tank, as a dps your job is go hard and burn things down. Some of these comments from people not willing to play a job correctly (maximise dps) are just looking to get carried.
Sure we are well overgeared now for content, but what if this was back when ilvl was lower? these people would never had passed that content
@Anemone_Valesti: Yes, I get what you're saying, but I don't think the people doing their job should be the ones backing down from the system. :p
And this is the problem. 'I can't be bothered to play well so please carry me through all this content'. And you are defending this mentality by saying that the people who are already doing their job and are not detrimental to the party should do even more to carry the person that simply doesn't want to do his job.
The problem is in the game more so than the people. This game does not leave much customization in how you play. Yes, i can customize my outfit, house, etc. but when it comes to battles, if you are fighting in tough endgame battles, you are stuck just finding the right rotation for each boss fight. There isn't multiple ways to attack a situation in end game. its either "you do it this way or fail". But the problem is the beginning parts of the game, you can make more mistakes and try more things without as much consequence. This game gets super linear the farther you get. So you have new players and young players that like "yay, smash buttons, run around, use random skills" up to lvl 50, then bam!, everything is tighter, no imagination when fighting endgame. Have to fight fights almost in pre-planned, pre-made ways. There is not many ways to beat endgame content. That's the problem.
Now, if they can balance it more, then yeah, this game would have less problems. But you go from very easy to extremely hard with nothing in-between. So these "jobs" where you see alot of people doing stuff you don't agree with, those things worked for them early in the game, now they are not working. And hell, you can go through the game using less than half of the skills you learn up to lvl 50. Then all of a sudden, you have to fit in a skill that was useless to you early on, and you really never used it and don't even know how to incorporate it in your "rotation".
I laugh at this "rotation" bullshit. I should be able to put together my own set of skills to use in situations, not be forced to use certain skills every time. No flexibility, no imagination. That's the problem. Every job damn near feels and operates the same.
Yup! pretty much exactly what I said a few posts ago. If it weren't for my absolute love for the other gameplay factors of this game, the inability to customize your rotation would have ran me off long ago. This is the only MMO in existence currently where you can do everything on one character without having to roll a bunch of individual characters and switch to them every time you want to play a different class (and wow does that ever make getting gear, weapons, etc. so much easier). This is the only MMO (that I play, anyway) that allows you to take on ALL crafting without limiting you to 2 or 3 max. And this is one of the few MMO games where a healer can be a dedicated healer (even with the ones out there crying that healers should be DPSing, also). Those factors and a few others have kept me here, but the fact that all of our skill rotations are pre-made for us . . . well . . . it's like a steering wheel under me kilt . . . it's driving me nuts.
It's official LOLnin replaces LOLdrg in all content.
That, there is no other explaination why so many people in random groups do abyssal damage, you don't need a parser to see how slow the mobs die compared when you have good DPS with you.
Most of the time it's not even the gear but really people randomly mashing buttons in favor to use the cooler looking skills. (Tri-Disaster spamming summoners....)
