Right now I have total over 100-110 Alexandrites (I lost count due I have been capping Soldiery every 3-4 hours and need to keep flushing those Soldiery)

Nexus. I did an experiment today. I did what I typically do, tallied 32 fates and 1 alex drop solo (as I was waiting for DF). This was actually a good day, as one actually dropped. This method, same amount of fates daily for 2 weeks, and I would see a drop every second or third day at most.
I have an animus as well, so I changed to that and started using my choco. The results were startling - 22 fates and 6 alex drops.
So is it a difference in drop rate per weapon? A sliding scale with animus around 15%, novus around 5-10% and nexus still a poor 2-3%? or the fact you are in a party changing the drop rate? (I hope it's the former, the last thing I want to see is yet another thing you can't do while waiting on the DF)
Too early to tell, I will make another tally tomorrow using animus without the choco out and see what transpires.
You're going to have to excuse the gaming community, op. It's currently impossible to mention a suggestion like this without people who already have something getting afraid of other people having it too. How else will they be able to feel "special"?
I've done the novus thing a couple times and while I agree with some of the people that that stage isn't so bad, it's pretty clear that there is no reason to be using fates when the yield is drastically lower than doing hunts for both soldiery and allied seals. Having options is nice I suppose, but I'm not a big fan of having "useless" methods in a game either, so I understand where you're coming from.
Why would anyone that has a Zodiac be "afraid" of other people having it too? It's not like it's a super duper rare raid drop or it makes mine less powerful if other people have it, so where's the logic here? I mean, without other people doing the Zodiac grind, our queue times wouldn't be nearly as fast and there'd be a much higher instance of running into new/undergeared people in the dungeons, which would further slow down our progress. I've got two and am working on my third, and I offer nothing but encouragement to those that are working on theirs, whether it be their first or their eighth. With that said, I do think that the relic should require an investement of your time as in the grand scheme of things it's still a really good weapon. Yes it's third best, but how many people can actually get a tomestone? How many people can actually get a Dreadwyrm? Of course the best weapons drop in Coil, which requires both skill and a time investment; relic is just time.
I really only farm alex from fates when I'm doing fates for other reasons (spiritbonding, GC seals, etc).Quote:

I would guess it's actually different per tier of weapon you use... Or Animus got boosted while the others didn't. Haven't done tests with Nexus or Zodiac so can't tell, but for Novus I did notice that since I got it I only got 3 Alexandrites in 61 FATEs.
Novus might have lower Alexandrite drop rate because you get Nexus lights from the FATEs... Even if it's only Feeble... That's just pure speculation though.
I'm glad you see what I'm coming from. Is a bit like people clearing T13 and they feel like they are above some other players (no everyone of course) they won't open up their static to help others because they want to feel being on advantage ( having a static is a big bonus because without it they will be stuck like ANYONE ELSE in this game.) is a bit like this polite suggestion about adding a bit of an extra drop on Alex from fates. Does not cause any harm to anyone but a help to those who wanna get to their zodiak too knowing that a lot of people got one. what I don't get why people get so crossed about a simple suggestion. Increasing the drop won't kill or harm anyone.just a request not only for me but for everyone wanting to get their zodiak before expansion
Eh? Why would anyone open up their static to people that are behind on the content?
Is jumping into learning/clear parties not good enough or something? ._.
That's just it, though. The drop rate's already been increased and some people are asking for a further increase for reasons like "because I/we don't have as much time to play as others". SE can no more balance content for the super-casual than they can for the super-hardcore. The content is balanced toward the average player, so some will always complete it faster or slower than others. They do keep track of things like how many of each stage of relic there are in the game, and most likely how fast they're completed as well; these numbers are used in whatever adjustments they make. The relic quest has been nerfed a lot since each stage was released.Quote:

As far as people complaining about the materia cost, I suggest either splitting the stats 3 ways to minimize the use of tier IV materia or spiritbonding for it yourself. If you make a set of astral/gryphonskin accessories and throw 2 trash materia on each piece, it spiritbonds in 5 runs through T4 which is 30 minutes tops. They seem to give tier IV materia around 50-60% of the time; whatever materia you get that you don't need you can sell.
Wouldn't it be called a dynamic instead of a static if they kept bringing in new players? And of course they're going to feel that they're above other players, clearing T10 separates you from all the welfare hunters getting logs to gear their bards into skill speed augmented ironworks or something equally horrifying. Also they buffed Alex from FATEs and you got nexus lights buffed, go slap on some SB gear, hit up fates in your weapon and get alex+materia needed for it instead of begging for more nerfs and welfare things like the entitled player you are.
Shouldn't it be called an 8-player online RPG if all the content is only done with a group of 7 friends? Of course raiders are going to feel superior to other players, they never interact with PuG play and thus don't understand how to maintain a respectful social dynamic within it. Hunting gear separates you from all the Coil xenophobes who can't handle seeing large groups of other human beings at once so they hole up in instanced content wiping 4-5 times a day 'learning' T12 or something equally horrifying. Also they made the secondary stat itemization on Dreadwyrm gear generally better and always required for BiS, made sure the best weapons in the game are hard-locked behind the latest Coil instance, and even made Coil gear superior to any other type of equipment you can get in the game at the start of every item level cap increase, when previously all Allagan gear had the same item level as 2.0 Mythology gear. So go worf down your HQ food and wipe to T13 some more instead of screaming at casual players asking for content that raiders themselves called casual to be more accessible and using thinly-veiled slang that makes it clear you hate the poor.
Relic has pretty much always been a bit of a grind and is a sort of status symbol for being a job specific weapon with a special name and design (as in that is its main reward). Every step has been quite a grind in some manner and so far each step has been nerfed over time, some more than others but the concept of the relic is still the same. A mostly "casual" weapon that needs TIME. It's only casual because it does not require hardcore content like say The Binding Coil of Bahamut / Second Binding Coil of Bahamut / Final Binding Coil of Bahamut or extreme primals.
The fact that relic is casual has not changed, nor has its difficulty to obtain, if anything it's only being made easier and easier for each patch that make changes to it. What people are upset about is being late to the grind and just see countless of steps that they deem not worth it, but it's somehow still worth enough to bitch and moan about because it's easy to complain when you are casual. If you don't want to invest time, no one is forcing you to get the relic. It should not be easy to get, it should not be nerfed further and it most definitely should not be cheaper either. Making an item explicit itemized the way you want is huge and should never be cheap, especially in a game where finding good itemized items in the first place is really hard (seriously if you think every dreadwyrm piece is BiS you are completely and utterly retarded and hopeless).
You can casually average 3 Alexandrite a day by doing a daily map, soldiery maps (because SE is practically giving the stuff away) and hunts. Seems like people STILL aren't satisfied.
As much as I disagree with the OP (and with the poster you're replying to), this is a horrible attitude to have about people that currently can't or don't want to enter FCoB. Seriously, do we need to get this nasty about it?
I'm really not sure if you're being facetious in your response by mimicking the last poster or if you're genuinely being just as obnoxious as they are. There's just so much generalization on both sides of this, seriously. Many raiders are happy to go back and help people clear previous content or even current content. As far as stat distribution, some of the Ironworks gear is actually BiS; SE seems to like encouraging a mix of the tome gear and the raid gear.
Man, I really don't see why this discussion took such an unpleasant turn in the last few posts. :|
Didnt read the whole 10 pages, but drop rate already increased once before, and now its a lot better.
Give an inch....
I apologies, I put it in the worst way. When I say "welfare hunters" I mean the people who collect all their gear from hunts and use the mentality of having ilvl 125 or whatever as a measurement of their skill. I have issues with "HEH, I GOT ILVL 130 FROM HUNTS... I'M BETTER THAN EVERYONE NOW!" which hunting seems to breed. People who hunt for fun or because they can't/won't do FCOB and know that it isn't a measurement of skill are absolutely fine.
Another issue I have is the horrid entitlement people seem to have, I'm not against having content nerfed due to a lack of playerbase getting involved in it or it being outdated; but people like the OP and the screeching, entitled little goblin that posted below my previous post are what we should be worried about. These are the type of people that would tear whole groups/communities of people apart because they can't get what they want (such as nerfing coils, giving everyone the best gear with little effort, making relic max reward with little investment). It's funny because I know I'm better than those people - I'd rather claw my way to something or work in a group than have these paranoid little fits on a forum over it. And if people don't want to do relic, coil, crafting, leveling other classes etc. because they choose not to, then no one should look down on them. It's their choice. It's a whole different story when a crying manchild demands that you rip apart the accomplishments of others so everyone can be a "winner" is just saddening.
On topic, I think Alex nerf is fine, it was horrible to get beforehand due to soldiery/daily and the % of FATE rewards. It should not be 75 days of roulette, but it shouldn't be 5 hours of FATEs.
Haven't and won't read through all 10 pages. My own experience (FATE farmed about 35 of my alex) showed about a 20% drop rate. It's RNG however so there is a bit of R to the NG. I'd go 4 hours and see only 1 drop but then I'd get 7 back to back.
I seen this thread today and was like " Hmmm drop rate increased to 10%", Well in less than 3hrs I had 5 Alex.
Got one after 14 fates, another after 19, one on the 32nd fate and I got two in a row for 44th and 45th fate. Then I decided to hit up a higher level area and I didn't get anything after 30 fates, my luck ran out for the day.
I have a 40 hour a week job and a 22 month old boy to take care of.
Early 30s.
I am on Nexus (Solely because I got lazy and Inquisition came out so retarded my time with Novus by 3 months due to it).
Suck it up. Put the time in it. You can get 2-3 Alexandrites a day without even trying.
boo hoo, I work x number of days, I can't do it.
Grow. Up. Really. This quest line isn't even that hard. It's tedious and RNG based. But the Alex part is the least RNG based out of all of em as you can automatically get some if you put time and effort into it.
And no, this isn't a "I got mine, don't want to share." It's a "I got mine, and I worked for it, so suck it up buttercup and work for yours."
Anyone in here saying they only get 2-3 Alexandrites a day is doing it entirely wrong. If you are serious about getting your Novus and have the time:
-Do hunts!!!! Use the Allied Seals to buy alexandrites (200seals per Alexandrite) -- A ranks give up to 40 seals, and S ranks give 100 I believe it is now.
-Use the Extra Soldiery tomes from the hunts to buy maps. (Maps are 400 Soldiery from Auriana)
-Only do Fates when you get tired of running hunts or if there are no hunt groups (for example: late @ night).
-Do your Expert Roullette Quest everyday (Morbid Motivation). This is one free Alex map every day.....
I did this for about half the day today and in one day I managed to grab 13 Alexandrites from doing A ranks only. No S ranks were available today. 13 in one day... (and I havent yet done my Expert dungeon yet so it will be 14).
You can pull off waaaay more than just 1-3 alex a day. Getting Alexandrites is easy. It's time consuming, sure, but its very easy.
I can tell the atma drop is a lot higher than Alex drop atm. Because I got my 12 atmas in 2 hours and half. I really do wonder what's the actual drop rate for Alex right now because it really is not 10%.
Just to remind I already got a zodiak , this is my second one. I've been thru all the grind without a SINGLE complain. What I'm coming from is that this weapon is getting old so there's no need for a hard grind at this stage. That's all. I'm happy with all the rest of the grinds because they are more accessible and not mind mumbling. The problem is that you NEED 75 Alex , they should of push a bit more the nerf for Alex on fates. I can reach from ilvl80 to atma ilvl 100 in 3 days. Even the light nerf is even better now. The problem that there's NO NEED hard grind on Alex at this time.
I work 40h a week with sometimes 44h week if something needs to be done. I still manage my time to do what I'd like to do. Sure I may not have all the time to get a relic quickly, but that doesn't mean I'm going to run to the devs and have the game catered to my whims. This isn't a single player or 30man multiplayer game here, you are not in your own bubble. You do realize that an MMO is a long-term grind game when all is said, right?
Having a job or a "life" or family, or any other these excuses don't matter, cause guess what? Everyone else does to!
If you read my other post rather than being picky and trying to be smart you will notice I said this is my SECOND relic. the time is not much the issue here, is how at THIS point in time the grind for ALEX shouldn\\'t be mediocrily hard and taking that long from FATES. When it first came out WITHOUT the nerf I didn\\'t complain because is new and needed to be done and it was understandable. But right now after nearly a year (or more) the grind for it shouldnt be Be this long. That\\'s the point I\\'m trying to make. I will take all insults and attacks IF I was requesting a nerf on the day of it release But not months after. plus I am INVESTING (£££) on this game ( from my annual earning ,which some kids don\\'t quite understand) so I should entitle to a simple request. But the replies are poor and minor like (Not all of them of course)
If time wasn't an issue then why even bring up your IRL schedule? Why shouldn't it take this long? It's one of the top 2 best weapons in the game, just because time has past doesn't change that fact. Also, alexandrite did not come out a year ago, which is what you are complaining about it seems. It only started in July. If me pointing out that you having a job has no bearing on the general design of the game is seen as an insult, well I'm sorry it offends you so much lol.
You are entitled to a request, doesn't mean you are shielded from disagreement or criticism, and disagreement doesn't make a reply "poor".
Someone doesn't know how the stock market works then. How much % of the company do you "own" through your investments? You generally need 50% of a company's stock in order to have controlling interest. I highly doubt you have that much of their stock. In fact, anything below 10-20% I'd say wouldn't be "entitled" to any request in particular.
If by investing you simply mean paying your monthly sub, then no you aren't investing anything. You are leasing your right to their servers and information. You are leasing your character. Nothing you have in the game is of any value with any real-world currency and you do not own anything in the game, including your character and items.
Alexandrites have already been nerfed (buffed? Either way we have a better chance) just recently for fates. It is very unlikely we will be getting another increase to chances until after 3.0, though it wouldn't surprise if it happens eventually depending on how relics work at that time.
That said, Alexs will probably never drop as well as Atmas for the sole reason that we have multiple ways to gain them, which has also already been said a couple times here. Fates are best done in between hunts/when no hunts are currently available. Hell, hunting gets you both seals and sols, my best haul so far was from capping sols while hunting and getting 22 in one day, only three of which were from fates.
Also, even if they do increase the drop rate from Fates again, it will probably never be higher then 25%. While that may be what OP wants, that still means you will always be on the losing side of getting it each fate. People would still complain about not getting any despite doing so-and-so many, simply because they had bad luck in those times, while others will get all their luck and get 10 in a row.
Note this is coming from someone who is working on their first relic.
The game gives out Alex like candy now..........
I wouldn't mind if the drop rate was increased, but it doesn't need to be.
Also look back at how many ppl used "I" when refering to atma drop %.
Rng doesn't care if ur lucky lol cuz it can make the next player over equally as lucky or even worse resulting in hours wasted with almost the same amount of effort put in with running fate to fate killing stuff with an animus wep.
I'm in no rush to get my 75 alex but that doesn't mean i don't want more ways to further speed it up. :)
the books went from 1500>400 tomes
the atma drop rates went up from 1% to 12%
the exabdrites went from 1% to 12%
the lights were doubled for everything....
you are trolllllling about the rates ... you will not know the 5000000 brayflox hm runs to get just the books
what the need to do is quit nerfing it and make the stats better then the coil stuff ... for something that took so much work relics should be the ultimate ancient weapon!!!
