The female DRG AF belly window needs to be closed

I think Ninja should have an "Illusion" set they wear, but when they pull out their weapons it switches to their real armor. The illusion set can be literally anything but if you are certain classes, or higher level you should see through the illusion.

While I'm not really keen on defending the "DRG armor hole", one could also consider that Dragoons were originally developed to fight, well, dragons. The dragons we've seen in game don't tend to have any "stabbing" attacks; even the ones with horns don't attempt to gore with them. Instead, they bite, they rake with their claws, they breathe fire and other stuff. All of that, with the possible exception of the breath attacks, is much more likely to strike the armor around the arms and head than they would the belly.

That said, whether or not the belly hole represents an unreasonable vulnerability isn't really the issue, here. The fact still remains: females' are uncovered, males' have chainmail covering. There's no good reason for this difference between male and female armors aside from fanservice - and, to be honest, it's really not even all that sexy. (Though, opinions on that may vary, I'll grant.) Give the ladies' the chainmail, or take away the mens' I don't really care which.

I think it would look sexier if the chest was covered. Especially because if a female gets hit their and actually survives being stabbed they will probably be unable to bear a child or have children anymore. Its a very sensitive area.

Well, it's a choice after you clear the Main Scenario and unlock glamours and better gear. What if DRG is your first 50 and it's the only chestpiece option you have before endgame, besides dropping a ton of gil on a crafted chest or endlessly farming WP?

Requiring female characters to go to extra lengths to not expose themselves is the issue being discussed, because it's conceptually backwards from how it works for male characters.

That is a very limited situation, given you have armors before and after even in the same ilvl and a glamour prism easily available.

This is making mountains out of molehills, even male characters use glamour, there are no "extra steps" involved for female characters.

I wonder if the new DRG AF will have a belly hole as well? We've only see the male version

I bet if we could make the characters fat people would wanna cover it up haha. Think of the insecure slightly overweight females that wanna be dragoons but fear that their bellys will be exposed. Then again they might not make it far off the ground anyways haha.

I really hate the "I don't like thing so SE should remove said thing!" attitude some people have.

It's fine if people ask for OPTIONS. If people want the OPTION to have the DRG armor with the belly window covered up, go ahead and request something like /visor for that armor piece to toggle it on or off.

But as soon as you ask for your preference to override other people's preference, for stuff to be changed to your liking when others like it better the way it is at the time, then it's very, very far from fine.

Obviously, and unfortunately, there's very little the devs will do about gear models already in-game, but I don't see how "we'd like these sorts of blatant design differences to not be applied to future gear designs" (like the female-variant AF2) is a message we shouldn't be allowed to send to the design team.

That's pretty much all this thread can accomplish, practically speaking, but we'd like it accomplished all the same.

My suggested /visor option to toggle the bellywindow on and off fixes your issue with "blatant design differences" just as well. And that way, people who enjoy the bellywindows can continue to enjoy them. Everyone wins. Some people like revealing/sexy outfits, some like conservative ones. Neither side should override the other, there's no reason we couldn't have it both ways.

I think it's more the arbitrary sexy option for women compared to men's conservative. If it was handled like /visor like the above poster stated or both sexes had the same one or the other, there wouldn't be the complaints.

Oh please, if you're allowed to demand the drg belly gap to be covered up, that means I'm allowed to demand every level 1 glamour gear that is doesn't look like it's for combat (this includes bikini, coluseum and stuff like spring dresses) to be removed from the glamor list. I mean, I'm technically asking for something similar no? But people will attack me in the name of freedom of preference. If this piece of armor is too skimpy, then let the players who prefer skimpy have em. It just means it's not for you so pick something else. Try the i70 darklight.

If people can make a fuss about Drg belly armor, then certainly I can make a case for adding bigger chests for elezen too, right?

After countless Threads of "lets have more skirts" and "lets have even shorter skirts", (not to mention al those biniki armored tanks - jeah, that will save you from a hard blow) this is amusing..

There are countless threads with hundreds of player replies begging SE to fix a real problem. I don't think they are going to change something cosmetic to a piece of armor that's been there since launch, and I wouldn't want them to. If they're going to fix say, 1 thing a year, I'd rather it be something that is game breaking or the RMT problem.

It's even older. 1.21 (march 2012). During those days there were not much complain about it, if I remember it right. Maybe because we were too busy to farm darklight gear as MNK and BLM ^^
There were not many DRG used within a speedrun for the 5th chest from final boss

Here is the issue folks. If you decide to change the design of a certain piece of armor for reasons like this, then when will it stop from there? People will find the next piece to complain about and want that changed. It causes a chain of events. I think the only time armor should be adjusted is if it has bad clipping issues with a lot of styles.

The real question is why do male Dragoons have protection for their mid section with scale mail or dragon scales (w/e it is) and the female Dragoons do not?

Let's face it if there were actual scales on the mid section it would look even better.

From my experience, straight females and homo guys wear bikini or coliseum subligar on their male dragoons :3

How about all armour is removed from the game and we all have the exact same models and faces with zero difference. Or better yet, we have no solid bodies. Were all balls of light that communicate with beeps and blips.

There is a ton of armor that shows a lot of skin on both male and female on all jobs.

Honestly, I don't think that's because it's "sexier" or "more aesthetic" that way... Why would there be this hole meanwhile all the other AF are the same for both genders ?

Compared to every other job, it's the only one that demands a high level of flexibility... And don't object that NIN too demands that, NIN demands another type of physical training. It's the same difference as there is between a gymnast and a free runner. And, because of their pelvis, Male DRG are less flexible than Female DRG. So, there is probably a slight difference in their combat style : Men focus more on strength and, maybe, blocking, and women focus more on dodging and hitting the right spot. That's just a theory, but if that's the case, then, the lack of scales can be explained : Male DRG are more likely to be hit, while Female dodge, and the fact that this plate is not there enhance their flexibility.

If you really wanna complain about something : How come females can equip male's wedding costume while males can't equip female's wedding costume ? That's sexist !

It is the same, men have their chest slightly exposed, but it's more prominent on women because of their bust. See: Lalafells wearing it, either gender.

Edit: Scholar is different, but only the legs iirc.

The opposite of this is the Noct armor.

Looks HORRIBLE on females.

If we change the drg armor, we have to change that armor as well.
