says the nature of the beast
MMOs are big worlds, they arent supposed to be traversed easily in a matter of seconds

LOL is that seriously your response?
no seriously, MMOs are supposed to be huge worlds, they are now, and they always have been
Makers of these games have always made shortcuts to get around the world quicker but it has ALWAYS come at a price.
Guess what, this time the price is anima!
the makers have spoken, and what they have stated is that you have to pay to get around the world quicker and even then it doesnt get you everywhere instantly
Yes, that is seriously my response.
Creators decide what the "nature" of the MMO they create is.
If the creators of an MMO decide the world should be traversed easily, then it will be.
For you to claim no MMO creator will ever decide their MMO should be traversed easily based on how YOU think MMOs should be created was quite arrogant, in my honest opinion.
That wasn't my point, With more ways to travel, Anima will be cut down and everyone will be able to get around.
yep, it will
but alot of people will always want instant travel to everything with no walking time whatsoever, and alot of the really arguementive people for some of the things suggested here are just that
they dont want chocos to run to a dungeon faster, they want to be teleporte to the dungeon for free
people do have the option to get places quicker
but as i said, there has to be a cost, you cant just go everywhere instantly all the time for free without limitation
i understand you dont like to actualy take the time to travel, but as someone who plays an mmo, you MUST realize traveling is part of the game
I asked you this before, and I guess you missed it so I'll ask again: What is it honestly going to hurt if people can teleport as many times as they like, whenever they like? What?-- People say it will take away from the purpose of the terrain, well, isn't that their personal choice to miss out on that? Nobody really complained when 100% of the population camped Ul'dah and Eastern Thanalan since release, as long as they got their 120k SP every 36 hours.
They should just give us repeatable quests like guild tasks or maybe doing something like Behest to "farm" anima.
By the way, can you answer my question? If you had to choose between teleporting from Gridania to Ul'dah, which would you choose? It's not a terribly long run, but it's a fair question.
So, not being able to party because it would take too much of my limited gametime to get to the party is not hurting my gameplay?
Not being able to craft something I need to party with because I had to spend too much of my limited gametime to get to all the areas I needed to get to and gather the mats?
"it doesnt hurt you" is the biggest copout excuse you can give to argue a point
its not about wether or not it helps or hurts players, its about wether or not it is in the best interest of the game
free instant teleports everywhere(no more anima) WILL hurt the game, even if it helps you
its you who refuses to see that and everyone who always uses that "well it doesnt hurt you so you should support it" attitude
Some people can't see past the end of their own nose to realize that the more people that find that final straw, and in this case in point, I can hear them saying, "I like to play a lot, but I can't get to where I need to go because the quality of my play time is still being governed by the game's creators". Anima should go the way of surplus and fatigue.
anima is just a bad system for porting, for 1. it gives a sense of punishment when u run out. 2. theres a loop hole for it, it's called money and it all goes to se, u can buy another account, u can borrow friends accounts. so if u'r rmt or got money to waist u'r sailing threw the game with no problems, while others are screwed.
it needs a way to refill it in game threw quest or something, or straight out stop charging anima for the ports. no running to anything should really take more then 5mins outside maybe some far run to mission bosses, or long timer hnm's. a dungeon like astral desent would be nice, this time around everyone will do it not just a few cause it's personal to them and they won't just let a group do it themselves everytime.
in ffxi i teleported probably 20-100times a day easily, this game keeps u from doing things with this system, people not getting a port don't want to come do things cause of the waist of anima, it hard to get replacements for party ..it might last another hour not worth my anima, i'll help.... if you come pick me up. hnms and linkshell run events will leaders need multiple accounts to port there players? that won't be fair on them either. quiting early cause dang i used way to much anima today? all this things are fail from a fail porting system.
give us free ports or even bring back class teleports they were better, everyone could either level the class or pay for ports from players, there wasn't a loop hole for only some to get away with enjoying the game without hours of running a day or being stuck in city all day. but i'd prefer this system cause sooner or later teleports get more and more anoying to get from people like in ffxi. (like it will get for repairs, and also how unfair making the crafting system change to 1 craft per person ...again its all things that real money tossed at se can fix and this is a bad system and needs to be fixed)
Citing XI, did anyone really ever see any drawback of a WHM being able to teleport with MP? Or, a BLM being able to Warp himself and/or all of the party back to their home points? Now that Return has been reduced to 0 cost, we virtually have that. Now, I ask you, why can we not have the former?
the drawback is if those players werent avialable to do it and you didnt have it, you could get it, and you had to RUN
sounds familiar? running to camp cuz no one could teleport you?
so now everyone has teleport, at a cost though(its the exchange we had to pay for everyone getting it at rank 1)
its up to the players to manage that anima now
if they choose to use it for everything they do, then its their fault for running out.
if SP parties are the major demand for needing it, maybe they should run everywhere and teleport when its party time?
also, with up to 8 people in a party, thats 8 people who can teleport, if all 8 dont have anima, thats just a shame, someone should be able to do it.
You're still missing my point by a longshot. People cannot get to where they need to be when they need to be there because anima is too costly to lose on something that isn't necessarily guaranteed. Paying 3-5k gil for a teleport, however, is pretty reasonable in an emergency situation.
That response is horrible Foxbat. In no way does that answer why it is detrimental to the community for us to have the equivalent of a WHM's abilities in FFXIV. Because anima is consumable and therefore precious, who's to say whose anima is more valuable than another's? We don't even have /random in this game for these types of situations.
thats besides the point though, everyones anima is valuable, and it is up to that person to determine the best use of it
if they cant manage it well, thats not the games fault its theres, the more you play the more you use, well guerss what, the more you play the more time you have to run places and not waste anima too
but my point stands as with every suggestion people make
just because itl benefit players doesnt make it a good thing
starting at rank 50 will benefit people too
auto crafting will benefit people
offline leveling will benefit people
everything being free will benefit people
so "it doesnt hurt you, itl only help people" is the worst thing you can say in favor of wanting something
why not just say "i suck at anima management and i want the game to make it so i dont gotta worry about it" at least then itd be honest
How does starting at R50 DoM/DoW make the game better? -You won't know how to play your class.
How does starting at R50 DoL/DoH make the game better? - You won't know how to craft.
How does not playing the game but progressing make the game better? - You won't know anything when it comes down to it.
Now, put that into perspective with the issue at hand:
How does retaining the ability to teleport when you choose to make the game better?
-You always know there's a probability that you can make it to events in a timely manner, whether you've just walked in from a long day's work or have been playing 13hrs. solid.
-You don't have to worry that you don't have the time to make it because you've got other responsibilities, or you've had so much fun for the past half-day that you spent all of your resources and now cannot join your friends.
Those are just a few. Now, fill in the blanks~:
Being able to teleport freely will decrease the quality and general interest of the game because:
what i said still holds true, this isnt about everyone, its about you not wanting to manage anima(as it has held true with most people that argue this point)
theyve added 2 ways to lessen the anima spent since launch, and its still not enough for some people
learn to run when you have time, thats the answer
dont wanna run? why are you playing an mmo?
