I'm just saying if you give the Atma~Animus, one of the newest pieces added, some time. The grind for dated weapons will be softened up, and there will also be newer and better weapons available.

It's not like this is the only good weapon you can work towards anyway. There is the Tidal Weapon, a Weathered~Unweathered weapon, and a High Allagan Weapon. If working towards an Animus doesn't work for you right now, it's not like you're without options to acquire some of the best pieces in the game.

1.this type of content is clearly intended to keep players paying their subscription until next update and I have no issues with this, but we are going towards other major update so they could have at least increased the drop rate.
2.we are not against grinding! It's the idea that lies behind that creates a problem!
Is this too hard to understand?
EFFORT --> REWARD is the normal path, Atma is: EFFORT (and a big one: endless number of FATE) --MAYBE -->REWARD.
It has nothing to do with grinding, farming or time: you have no guarantees that in - say - 1 year you will get your ATMA Weapon.
Farming mitho and completing dungeon / hard boss would be ok: it would take time, but I'd slowly reaching my objective.
I can understand you want to feel special and I'd gladly help you to find other reasons to feel so, but please accept that reality: at the moment this system is just sick. People spending a whole day doing fates hoping to drop an atma and getting 0 after 24 hours is sick!

The only problem with this is that this is the weapon that we will be able to do other quests and other content later on to make even better. This is the weapon that will grow with us. This is how the weapon was described to us. Yet if we want to participate in any of that later content, we have to do the Atma quests. If we want to participate in the book content that most people have no problem with, we have to do the Atma quests.

If it were a grind to get one weapon equivalent to the Atma/Animus weapon and that was the end of it then I doubt you'd see as many complaints. This way it would not be a case where we would need to participate in other things to come. It would be a true choice at that point.

And I, as many others, have already opted out of this progression path. This is a personal vision, but I don't really care about what weapon is best or the gear I can get; I do care, however, about the content I have access to.

Opting out of Atma due to the mind shattering boring premise (much beyond anything previously found in the game) makes it so that I'm also opting out of the whole Novus content line and future content that follows, until this atma business is changed. Which as you mentioned, could be in 2.4 or even 2.5.

Had the Atma quest line been a dead end content line, I would not worry a bit. I would've just opted out, never looked back again and mourn the fact that even a minute of development time was used for it, but nothing else. But Atma is part of a content road block right now that stops us from current and future content.

To me and others, every content patch notes that includes anything related to the relic quest can now be completely skipped.

I started doing another atma weapon yesterday for the hell of it. Got 6 just from doing a few fates in between ques with a pf group to farm t2 ( i still dont have the allagan chest after 9 months T_T, Im close to just buying one). I think only two so far have taken me more than 10 attempts. Some great luck however Id like to note something that made it easier for me; Stop caring. Seriously, don't only grind for atma, as it will make you hate the game lol. Do some other stuff like roulettes or extremes, farm 1st coil for any gear u may still want, do some supply missions, level a craft or gatherer a little.

Do anything (whether in our out of game) that you enjoy or can take your mind off of atma for a little bit. Before i would mindlessly do fates way past the point of mind feelin like it's melting away lol. This time i just do some, stop, do something else, then go back for some more, repeat. It's not like your chances are getting worse from stopping (in terms of the drop rate on each individual fate), so just stop when you feel your mind melting away and come back.

Has worked wonders for me. also worked for someone else i know who ended up getting his second atma weap in two days

Honestly I think you just don't want more people getting Atma so you feel like a special little snowflake. Well guess what, you're not. Let people leave feedback without decrediting them or telling them to deal with it.

Roughly 170 FATEs, not a single Atma.

Have Lexi X weapon for all of my jobs that I use, T5 weaps for 3/5 that I use, working on Coil to get my weathered and then shiny weap for MNK.

But with the announcement of Novus, etc - its pretty clear that having a relic updated is going to be a very good option and a very good idea going forward. It got to the point where I took the glamor off my Relic Zenith because I thought that might be affecting it . . . I have the completed quest that lists the zones in the quest log, I have my Zenith equipped while killing . . . starting to want to cry.

I know RNG. I've never been a really lucky person, and so when I heard this was what I needed to do, I decided maybe this game's RNG would be different with me. Maybe I would be lucky. Just maybe! The first few days I just did it while waiting in DF ques as DPS. Yesterday, though, I spent 8 hours (few minutes here and there to eat and go to the bathroom) of non-stop fate grinding. I did a zone for three hours, then switched to the "Japanese Theory" for the other five hours. No luck.

I think I'll be in this thread for quiet a while, so time to get comfy.

It looks like that saying that people want to feel special is not civil. Be careful! Just kidding. I agree with you and I'd love to hear a good reason for atma drop to stay like this. A few months ago people were complaining about the relic weapon being accessible to not skilled players that couldn't beat hm primal and let themselves carried by fc/party members. Now that progressing with the relic quest relays only on luck those "bad" players can easily get atma and animus but that's just fine.

There are people that love to grind. They really do enjoy it. I'm not even going to wonder why because I'm not them but let them enjoy the content that is for them. People that don't like to grind, there are other weapons you can get that are better without the grind that you call boring. And they are not bad players just because they like going through this route to get a weapon.

I think grinding is something most people have learned to deal with (especially if they're older players or fans of Asian MMOs). I don't have much of an issue grinding, it's more RNG based. Find a grinder, give them 200 hours of grinding the same thing over and over and over with no reward and guess what, the grinder will go grind on a different game where there is reward after putting in 200 hours.

Just because someone likes to grind doesn't mean they enjoy RNG.

It wasn't that bad once I took a different approach to getting the atmas. The longest for me was the atma of the bull, which was my third atma. (6 hours) After that I decided no more mindlessly farming the same area for hours on end. I started to just do a few fates per area, then switched to another until I got one. That actually worked out for me pretty well, I once got 4 atmas within an hour. I'd hang out in an area and do fates until my queue popped and took breaks when it got boring.

I absolutely love a good grind, but that's not what Atma is. Atma is a bad grind. If you spend more time traveling to content than doing content, then something is wrong. What's worse is that by the time you get to a lot of the FATEs they are already done and it's even worse in peak times.

And before someone says it again and to those who have said it before - we want to earn Atma we really do, we just really don't like HOW you earn it.

Just fyi, I said that because you basically made a snide insult directed at anyone who didn't agree with your point of view. The difference between your comment and AmyNeudaiz's comment is that Amy directed it to someone specifically (who is capable of standing up for himself); whereas your comment (again) was directed at anyone across the thread who didn't share your view (which happens to include me).

You're frustrated with the whole Atma farming thing, I get it. However, there is no reason for that kind of response to the thread. Especially, when all some of us are here doing is having a discussion. It's not like I'm here posting snarky insults, because some people don't agree with me.

Looking over your Lodestone profile, I can see we're into different things in-game. As Bizniztyme said, there is different content for players into different things. There is nothing wrong with this. If you don't like the Animus grind, shoot for the Unweathered weapon; or, even the High Allagan, which will still surpass the Novus. Then, you will still have something better than the "bad" players (as you put it), who relied on luck and RNG to get an Atma~Animus.

All you people realize that they are going to continually add in content for upgrading relics, the further you fall behind, like the person who said they are going to pass on animus because they got their mirror, when I can almost guarantee that there will be no more upgrading your levi weapon. There will however be more quests in the relic questline like animus, novus and so on and so forth.

my friend started her atma quest and got all of them in 2 days.
meanwhile I'm still at 0. I think I've pretty much given up and I'll just hope my static can clear T9 and get my weapon that way (；´∀｀)

Very true, however, I wonder if the people who have given up on animus are going to be the one complaining that their "comparable" level weapon isn't as good as whatever the relic will turn into down the road.

I'm going for my second animus and I was so scared from my first atma farming process. It was a whole terrible process. Atmas would take like 9~10 hours of average straight farming everyday. There was one which took me 16 hours, I was so stubborn... I HAD to get it, wouldn't go to sleep before I got it ; ;. Now on my second animus, I'm dropping all of them like candies ._. ... I've got [8] atmas today in a few hours (so far, still farming) and 3 yesterday, so 2 to go. I don't know what to believe anymore. My feelings are mixed in this whole atma thing T_T need halp.

And there will continually be a weapon that can be obtained on the same ilvl and higher. The tome weapon and then the BiS weapon. No longer is relic the only option pre-bis. Depending on how far this customization goes it may end up being the best option pre-bis though.

edit: Woot got my 2nd atma weapon. 12 atma in less than 2 days. Got the stardust rod atma this time. sphairai was my first.

Why do you support this? There's plenty of things you can really farm, the only reason I can see is that you look at atma as a status symbol (i.e. feeling special) and you have your reasons. Sorry for the double post but i just wanted to stress that i am not "insulting" I'd just like to understand the reasons. It's a genuine curiosity.

Rather than tracking how many fates I did (Can't even track mine anyways), I just give myself incentive to grind fates. Since our house is in demand for some classy furnitures, I had to farm many seals to supply mats for our crafter to get 3* tools.

I really don't see the system of getting Atma as something good or bad, in the fun to do sense. However, one thing that I pointed out in a previous post, as a good thing about it, was the fact that it revitalized FATEs in lower end zones. As I said in the post I'm speaking of, most of the FATE parties I was participating in had folks in it not even getting Atma. They were leveling classes. Without this system, many of those FATEs were just coming and going, not really being used by people trying to level. This system is a good thing for those people.

As for why I support it, aside from the reason stated above. I am in support of varied content. For the player who loves nothing more than to participate in hardcore, "balls-to-the-wall" content, there are things such as the Unweathered and the High Allagan weapon. The High Allagan, by the way, will still surpass the Novus. So it's not like the hardcore, balls-to-the-wall players will be without something better.

Personally, I'm not an avid Raider. I do Raid and I enjoy doing it, but I'm not one of those people who eats, drinks, and sleeps raiding. This, gives people like us the opportunity to still get a good (not the best) weapon. This doesn't make people like us bad or lazy players, it's just different strokes for different folks, that's how I see it. I mean, compare our Lodestone profiles. You have a few battle classes leveled; in contrast, I only have one battle class leveled, but I enjoy also taking part in DoLs and DoHs. The comparison is a prime example of different priorities in-game. It makes neither of us better or worse players than one another.

As far as seeing the Animus as a status symbol, allow me to correct you and say I don't. If anything, the weapons I see as something special or a status symbol are the Unweathered and the High Allagan. Especially, the High Allagan. I'd think that it takes a truly hardcore, exceptional group of players to down T9; and, for doing so, they get their reward, a weapon that surpasses the Animus and the soon to be Novus.

What we have in place right now with the current drop rate is a buffer, basically to keep the community from progressing too fast while SE is getting future content ready. Right now, it's simply set up to keep people busy for the time being.

It was the same way when the game started. There were Tomes of Philosophy and Tomes of Mythology. The Philo, you could farm to your hearts content to buy DL and various crafting mats (Peacock Ore, Coke, Potash, and etc); however, the Myth, you used to buy the high-end gear at the time (which was a tier below the Allagan). The Myth was set to where we could only farm 300/wk, and at 2.1 it was increase to either 450 or 500 per week, I forget which. There was also no Echo in place for BCoB1. These were all little blockades SE had in place to keep people from progressing too fast, before they had time to push new content out the door. At the time, it was simply something to keep the community busy.

Right now we basically have the same setup with the Atma drop rate and Soldiery cap, busy work for us, to give SE time to prepare new content. However, now, you can farm Myth to your hearts content, and the Echo has been applied to BCoB1 to push the community into BCoB2. So I assure you, the Atma drop rate is a temporary ordeal, things will change by 2.35~2.4

The only reason I can think of that it's not being changed by 2.3, is that more people have an Atma weapon than SE expected. Just like how SE didn't continue to bump the Echo up, but left it at 15%; more people were clearing T5 than expected.

But it's still 50 more chances of it landing on tails if you're doing 100 times instead of 50. Now that is the truth, so his comment of doing more doesn't raise your chances is totally wrong.

For the coin thingy. Even you flip it 10million times, it is still a flat rate of 50% each side. Depending on indiviual, some may get 50/50, others 100/0, 55/45, etc.

The RNG is there. Unless you are telling me that if there are 100 cups and only 1cup have a coin, every time you open a cup the coin moves to another cup. Then I'll yes, opening more cups increases your chances of getting a coin.

The problem with Atma is, there are no fix number of FATES. It can be 1, it can be 200. Doing 1000 or even 1 does not increases your chances at all, for there are no fixed limit.

You're still statistically wrong, the more you do of something the more chances of you getting that something, doesn't matter what the percent of each time you do something is.
