Until the next set of Coil is released with even higher tier gears in probably 2.4 since they're going by 2.2 coil, 2.3 CT, 2.4 Coil, 2.5 CT, and so on.

but with 2 year per expansion plan we will probably see CT finished before 1st expansion is released which would be around 2.5 or 2.6.

So every new tier we're just going to get more tomes? Are we ever going to have RNG?

Coil/CT RNG not enough for you?
Tomes allows you to gear up even if RNG screws you over every time.

SE stated that there won't be RNG besides the lots on items. RNG at end game on EVERY mmo using it is just a 0.01% grind fest and is plainly boring. The actual community of mmos don't want that anymore

I never ever want to see RNG in an MMO ever again, had enough of it. Being able to get tomes to work up to getting different armour/weapons is a lot better than 0.01 drop rate, coil drops are perfectly fine too, I love the way SE has gone with this and I really hope they keep this up.

I would prefer they make these tomes for highest tier items a bit harder to get if RNG will never be a part of this game. Instead of limiting the amount you can get per week. Make it harder to farm.

I would prefer them not adding more and more new tomes...

I'm up for all new tomes until we eventually get the Allagan Tomestones of Yoshida they mentioned.. haha we'll have 10 kinds of tomes I wonder how long the screen would look like~

Have you NEVER played an MMO in your life ever? Old gear gets invalidated or replaced with new gear when new content is released. That's what happens. Oh my god, how hard is this for people to understand?

People have been running around with iLvl90 Myth gear for six months, it's not unfeasible for Square to implement new gear and make the old gear easier to get. I'm sorry, but fresh players (Especially PS4 players and new hardcore players that join the player base) aren't going to want to have to sit on their hands for months to obtain all the Myth Tomes they need for a full set of iLvl 90 gear. Getting rid of the myth cap is good for the player base. New, better gear and harder dungeons for hardcore players that will have to be done in a weekly grind, easier to obtain old gear for casuals and new hardcore players that can be snatched in a week or so from Roulette runs.

Think about it, if you came into an established MMO and then had to grind out restricted weekly items in low level dungeons just to be able to even access *some* of the harder end game content (not even the newest content), you'd probably be pretty annoyed at the game.

Welcome to the life cycle of non-expansion content patches. Be glad SE is doing non-expansion content patches *at all.* We could have just had Vanilla ARR until the first expansion came out and everyone would be bored.

Square can't win in this situation. Either they're catering too much to casuals, or they're making the game boring and the endgame content inaccessible to hardcore players without pointless grinding that no one wants to do. Pick a side and stick with it.

It's true this is good for the player base, now everyone can just pay for a single sub fee of $13 once every 6 months ($10 for us legacy folks) and catch up to everyone who worked hard to get their gear for over those 6 long months in just a week or two and skip the wait for new content with nothing else to do. I'm really glad they consider WoW the only MMO to have ever existed and vertical progression the only way to do gear updates, my wallet thanks you very much. Other people should be glad they're looking out for our finances and stop being so entitled too.

Absolutely no one is forcing you to pay Square Enix $10-$15 a month to play this game. There are things that people should legitimately complain about (bugs, exploits, etc.) because they affect how the game works, but whining how Square decides to dole out gear in their own MMO is not one of them. Most hardcore players are going to be running stuff with their Guilds/Free Companies and their other in-game friends anyways. The vast majority of hardcore players don't bother with Pick Up Groups, so I don't know why any of you actually *care* that much. It doesn't affect your enjoyment or playthrough of the game in the slightest. This feels like looking for stuff to complain about because openly whining about Square Enix is the in thing to do nowadays.

I'm sorry that Square Enix isn't bowing down to kiss your boots right now, but there's nothing in the world that says they have to. And whining about it like an insufferable twit isn't going to change that fact.

Oh but you misunderstand me my fellow player, I am indeed glad about these events as they've just saved me some charming pocket change and indeed I can opt out of paying a sub fee for subsequent months just like you've kindly suggested, now I can spend that hard earned money on other services and sources of entertainment. No it doesn't because they put a cap on it. Allowing you to only get 1 piece of gear a week is getting screwed over. Tome systems are horrible.

They say its to prevent hard-cores from creating a gap from the casuals but it's doing just that. If someone misses a week or two for whatever reason they WILL ALWAYS be behind.

It doesnt have to be 0.01% it can be a bit higher and you say the community of mmoers dont want that yet MAJORITY of everyone here is complaining about myth caps. Atleast with RNG you have something to do other than log in on Monday to cap for one piece of gear and log out.

RNG+lock out is worse than a 0.01% drop rate. ._.

Anyway my point is, it's extremely stupid to just keep having all these different tomes everytime a new tier of gear comes out. I'm assuming this game is going to go up to level 99? Think of all those token systems ._.

You never played Ragnarok online to say that.

Sure new tomes every time will shortly fall, but nothing says it will remain like that for ever. Maybe future AF will be only upgradable from some things you get in top tier dungeons or stuff like that.. idk.

Yep, casuals get enjoyment from the game from working at their own pace. People say these changes are for the casuals. This isn't what the casuals want. A casual player that is just getting to CT doesn't want their current progres invalidated by a new patch. That is SE dictating the pace a casual may want to play at. The assumption seems to be that casuals want to be pushed to the top when for the most part they are happy with slowly progressing. I have never seen a casual player complain that they are progressing too slow, that is why they as a "casual" in the first place. Just because a player wants to take his time doesn't mean he doesn't want a challenge in the game. This is SE telling the casual players they better catch up if they want to enjoy the game at all.

So because of this I'm guessing in coil u will be able to get more then one piece of gear a week then. Well that sucks I worked so hard to get this gear while new players will get it right away lol.

Why? How does it impact you at all? You should be getting the new gear. Who cares about the old gear and what casuals get?

Casuals could be full myth anyway...coil unlock is better for alts than anything else, imo.

The only people who deserve a reward right now are BG for beating Twin before they nerfed Twisters, everyone else gets the glorious silver medal of having stuff before everybody else gets the stuff. It's not even elitism anymore, it's just pathetic snowflake tears.

To be honest in my case it's more of a "thank god maybe now I can finally get that one Allagan piece that never dropped and myth all my other jobs I couldn't even play in higher content because I had to stick with my mains for both Coil drops and myth gear because weekly lockouts and vertical progression are bad design decisions in the first place that limit the Armoury System" than "I don't want those pleb casuals to enjoy and have the things I do, luck is totally a skill just look at the shiny armor it got me, special butterfly, etc." though I can totally see some other people doing that. Like I said I got a 6 month sub and only about 2 and a half of those months I truly enjoyed doing stuff for the story, leveling classes, learning and finally beating the fights and what not, the rest was just the regular MMO grind for gear praying that one weekly piece finally dropped after months of only seeing Bard or Tank drops or slowly saving the myth for another piece or I guess getting whatever CT drop to fill in. I don't really care about world firsts or beating fights before they're nerfed more than beating them for either the story or just for the sake of beating them and the rewards are just a means to actually beat more of those fights, so now that I know every two patches will remove those weekly locks so people can easily catch up there's no reason to stay subbed longer than a month and endure the weekly cap grind. I say it's a win win.

Because waiting a week for your myth cap to be reset was so much work, am I right? People still need to earn the myth... they just don't have to wait as long. Waiting isn't exactly work.

I guess people want to be cool and kawaii.

Arguably hard if you're in full Darklight and even some lower gear and want to get into Coil as soon as possible to take advantage of both weekly caps because some Coil and myth pieces are better than others, though I guess that also doesn't really matter if you don't want to min max and the content all boils down to memorization and dodging anyway, but yeah thanks for fixating on that one word and ignoring the rest, I love Final Fantasy too.

I agree. Lockouts are sort of the huge problem, they currently make the game really restricting and accomplishing anything feels more like a chore than a reward. Earning Darklight, albeit tedious, actually felt like you got something out of it - after AK speedruns got patched out, I had to run 50 CMs to be full i70 for Titan HM (when you actually needed it for groups to let you do your thing, especially as WAR). Even though that took forever and CM is probably the most annoying dungeon in the game, every piece felt like I earned it and I never had to stop getting pieces. That's FUN, that's REWARDING, it makes you feel like you EARNED something. Dungeon loot is equally rewarding, but the huge problem with Coil is that it's entirely RNG based and it's behind a weekly lockout. Throw CT's lockout on Coil and it'd be golden, which I hope they're at least considering for Coil 2. It really is a horrible design decision, though I think they're sort of forced into a corner with the little end game content they have. I feel like once we reach Coil 3 (or hopefully before then) lockouts will stop being a thing and they'll just let people do what they want. If it does continue down the road of lockout, removal, lockout, removal then a lot of people will grow tired of it - some sooner than most. I'm still waiting to see how it pans out in 2.2 before I make any decisions, but I can see where you're coming from with the current state of ARR.

If this is how the game will be.. I will probably end up unsubbing when my sub expires. like the game but the way they are doing this is just so wrong it's better to come play this game in 2 years when all the updates are out and theres no cap for anything.

Pretty much Spooky, I'm sorry the first comment about hard work did come up as a bit elitist, by hard work I meant more like enduring how limited everything is because there's really not much you can do once you've exhausted those weekly content allowances, but I guess it wasn't the best way of putting it. If anything I think EX primals are a step in the right direction at least for their accessories because they aren't weekly capped, I really hope there's more gear like that in the future that isn't behind a lock or they just remove locks completely, not counting crafted gear of course though that's also another issue.

I don't really get the complaints. Why should people take months to gear up in myth armor that will be like current darklight? Then to get new max armor they should take a year? That would be so unfair. And they don't have to work less, unless they're increasing the number of myth you get from stuff, just have the chance to take shorter if they have a load of free time.

Remember how Darklight was at the start? It was quite hard to get, would take weeks and having it was pretty cool. Now it's just some cheap armor you can complete in a day, since phil rains on you at tons. And it's even made more pointless by the presence of CT gear, I personally haven't bothered with DL armor for classes after my main, cause I can just get CT one and sell phil mats for profit. And yet I worked hard to get my first DL and felt like an achievement back then. And yet I never heard anyone complaining about it.

But you had it all this time, you were able to run content that needs it, while those who didn't have it couldn't. All mmos want people to have access to new content, and to make so ofc old stuff have to be easier. And, unless you have aldready all classes at 50 and i90 (which I think very few persons have), should just be happy you can level your secondary classes faster so you can bring them in new content as well. I personally would hate the idea of having to wait months to be able to take other classes in new Coil turns.

1. This I must disagree with. The issue with allowing people the "easy" gear up method by completely removing caps is that they now skip iLV(s) that could have potentially taught them mechanics used in later fights. This doesn't help them, just makes them look stupid when they pull crap dps, heal horribly, or can't tank swap properly. I think part of the issue is that we have not experienced a level increase. So we have like 6-7 sets of LV 50 gear that just replaces previous gear.

2. Crystal tower, they spent all the time to create it then just as promptly make it even more useless than it already was. It was already lower gear cap than coil, but the drove the stake into by making crafted i90 gear and no myth/loot lock out in 2.2 so they effectively have killed it outside those who will in the future need to clear to get to the next set of CT. If they were going to do that, they should have saved CT for 2.2 (with Coil-2) and made it the gap closer aka i100. Sure we would have a long stretch of no-content but the release of 2 end game places in 2.2 would have brought people back around just as easy.

3. New players should be given the chance to experience going through easier dungeons, learn a variety of mechanics, and not be expected to buy all iXX gear because they should have at least that already. Plus w/o there being caps once "hardcore" gamers get everything they want from old content in the first 1-2 week they will probably never do it again (outside selling runs).

4. Finally many people catch on to things like this quickly, and I'm sure few people would enjoy what took months to be done in a 1-2 days simply for a patch. I feel that in order to keep content relevant SE needed to increase myth cap to 2k (a week), Stack up to 4k philo, allow a 2 drop per BC turn cap, and remove the CT gear cap for 2.2. This alone should have be adequate enough for people to catch up gear wise, keep current content in cycle, and give people a reason to do older content on a weekly basis.



Side Note: Now, I am not saying that removing caps is always bad, but why have a cap if it will be removed later on down the road? In a sense they contradict themselves by doing so. They falsely extend the content by creating myth caps only to remove them later instead of gradually increasing caps. Given the life of the game they shouldn't believe they have the luxury in null-voiding what little content there is to offer.

This bothers me as well. It feels like cheating that I can have any alt job at raid ready gear the second it hits 50. People can have every alt at i90 and be able to do all content before even playing any endgame content with that job. I would like to work for it more, but maybe that is just me. I am certainly not a hardcore player and even I worry about running out of content.

At the moment; Raid Ready is considered I70. So you can already do this.

Not really. T4 requires a few I90 pieces (or I80 now) and T5 is nearly a full I90 contest, at least in order to survive fireballs

I wasn't aware that Coil started in T4 and T5. Being Raid Ready means being able to have enough gear to do the beginning instances of of the Raid when its Multi-tiered. T1->70+, T2->75+, T4->80+, T5->85+ would be optimum, but still could be done with less (since you know first people to clear did do with less..)

If Myth didn't exist apparently no one would be raid ready to enter Coil under your standards without having beaten Coil. Extreme Primals/CT didn't exist before the Realm Awoken update so they are exempt from this argument.

PST Normal i80 Relic + Full Dark Light is Raid Ready to start Coil and gear up to do harder turns. That's why its progression.

This is my concern as well; on one hand I'd be more than happy to gear up my alts with shiny allagan and AF2. On the other hand, every bad player can do the exact same and there's no way to tell who is skilled and who isn't.... xD

At the same time, this has always been the case hasn't it? People who already i90 can be bad players.

Lol people need to get over themselves. A game wont live if someone takes off for say 6 months and then has no chance to catch up. Wow does this exact same thing in giving players a chance to catch up to the current content. Yet a lot of players still cant catch up and spend all there catch up time catching up still. The more hard core players still always a step ahead. this is an MMO all you need to get head s Time nothing else no matter how bad you are if you got the time you will always be ahead of the curve.

I know a quite a few bad players who just because they have a lot of time and the correct jobs have stream rolled the game. Just like every other game out in the market Time > "Skillz". A lot of players who have this so called "SKILLZ" just fallow a strat online they see a video of then just spam it tell they got the timing down that's not "SKILLZ" that's something you could even train a 5 year old 2 do. Ontop of that they keep clearing stuff that they are over geared for. You know there is something wrong when you gotta be Item level 85 do Ultima *Drops Item level 80 Armor*. I even saw someone post Moogle king for item level 80 *Vomits*

Cool now people will get Myth gear for all their classes in a week and the complaining of nothing to do will still be here.

I took me 1 day to master how to be Ultima. It took me 6 trys to Master the Moogles. T1 / T 2 Was a joke from the first time I did them Item level 73 PLD. Have not done T3 yet will do that today. Yet I know ill done fine in it just like all the other content. I have seen in this game and many other this game aint hard.

Its all about learning. Some people learn a different ways some people learn by studying IE they watch the video and know exactly what 2 do. They have a heads up others learn by doing and figuring out what they did wrong. Others just don't learn anyways. While group a may have an initial uperhand person doing method 2 will catch up and quite often surpass them. People who do turn 2 also have a good chance to adjust when they tweek the content because well its how they learn anyways. WHile im not saying people in the first group cant also do the same thing its just less of a chance. Its simple there minds are not made to function like that sorta like the whole thing of street smart and book smart ^^
