I agree with the OP. I also like the menu system spells and skills a lot more than this one. I hate the current system because it makes me feel like I'm playing a PC game. (yes that is a bad thing to a FF player who prefers consoles)
The only thing I don't agree on is the story. The story is horrible on FF standards. Even worse than XII or XIII in my opinion. Especially the way it's implemented to the gameplay which is in no way at all.
Agree with all the missing points and i'd add that an element that would bring you 'to care about' is also something like Housing (and Gardening inside). Something to be fond about.
If i can put my retainer in my house, i think he will be happy.. instead to roam around without a home :D
Ironic that in this thread, the request is for 'more final-fantasy', and in the other, you're asking for White mages wielding lances.
But no you're right, Cairdeas knows best.
You forgot moogles. :p
Oh yeah Cid! Maybe Biggs and Wedge too! They've made appearances in some FF titles, not all. +1 for nostalgia!
Things i would Love to see in this game ,
*Hyper Notorious Monsters (Nidhogg,KB,Tiamat and somewhat alike in spawn times to 11)
*In Game Tetra Master would be hot
*Be able to Level The New Jobs from Lv. 1 - 50
*Job Skills Abilities old style list not the choose where it goes style we got now
*Mage Spells here i liked FFXI where you were able to learn the spell and you either quest/buy/killed nm for it
*Linkshells to not be considered inventory but can only wear 1 at a time
*Seek Party Feature
*New Menu's (FFXI were Nice)
*BRING BACK HARDCORE
*Removal Of Market wards (since they always crashing) vote yes on AH to be in this game
for now thats it
Limit Breaks, yes please!
Unique examples =/= 'the white mage' archetype that's known in FF's.
It's fairly clear you don't understand the point of jobs in FFXIV, if you want this. They are not the same as classes.Quote:
Their equipment includes staves and maces (as well as hammers in the original Final Fantasy), but in later installments they used magical rods instead.
I would regard this as possibly the only good thing they did with FFXIV's linkshells. (Though considering they didn't do much with them, there's a fairly small pool to draw from)Quote:
Linkshells to not be considered inventory but can only wear 1 at a time
Pretty much no. There are better ways of dealing with the game than just restoring it to the FFXI default.
I want an FF 9 feature- weapons and armor include special character abilities
yeah you clear dont understand wha i ment is rumors around is that if you GLA 50 you can choose to be PLD and be 50 already which is stupid . Now with that said the difference between Classes and Jobs is going to be one is solo friendly and the other is going to bring out the power of the job in party settings correct yes right ok now next time you quote me dont edit wtf i say .
And yes I want there to be elements of a challenge in this game not the baby food your used to in WoW and Rift and other wow clones alike
its also fair to say you didnt read my post all you saw was lvling 1-50 again and ffxi seems you had rough go at it were you the one dominated by the LS i was in were you the one setting in DA @ KB @ aspi trying to claim but fell short because you werent skilled at the game and fail to see the successes in FFXI . Final Fantasy XI was a great game and i would still be playing it if they didnt ruin it with abyssea what pretty much all gimps can lvl and get gear better then the ones people took years and years to get .
Something I would like to see, but is in no way a necessity or a priority is like... The twirling of weapons or striking of poses characters used to do when they won a battle. Of course that would have to be adapted to this game, would be apropriate after you finish a leve or beat a boss in a dungeon. And there could be a few different motions for every weapon class and we could pick which, or it could be random.
That would be a nice throw back to older FF titles.
You should also note Tactic's isn't really an entry into the main franchise it more like side game tbh.
I don't think you're understanding what the Job system will be. You don't switch to Paladin, and now you are a Paladin with only Paladin abilities. You are still a Gladiator with Gladiator abilities. You just also have Paladin abilities. So you could unlocked Paladin on Gladiator, but then equip it to Marauder and be a Marauder/Paladin with Marauder and Paladin abilities, instead of a Gladiator/Paladin with Gladiator and Paladin abilities. It's more like WoW's speccing system, except that the specs aren't class specific.
To equate it more to the job/subjob system of FFXI, it would be like the 6 base jobs (WAR, MNK, THF, WHM, BLM, RDM) being Class, and advanced jobs (PLD, DRK, etc.) being Job. In this system, your main job would have to be one of the core 6 jobs, while your subjob would be one of the advanced jobs (except you'd have access to all of their abilities up to your main level instead of just half your main level). So you could be a WAR/DRK and learn Berserker *and* Last Resort at 15, but you wouldn't be able to just be WAR/nothing, or be WAR/WHM.
When you change to Paladin, you won't lose all of your Gladiator abilities.
This is exactly what FFXI was, an MMO with FF features. It managed to succeed in it's genre (MMORPG) while still retaining Final Fantasy traits.
That's what some people don't get. These are two different genres. An MMO "Final Fantasy" will be *intrinsically* different from a single-player venture. The two aren't incompatible, but just like FFXI was an MMO first, so is FFXIV an MMO first.
Not sure how anyone can argue Tactics is not a part of the main franchise even without the FF XII reference. Its called Final Fantasy Tactics, it carries multiple Final Fantasy trade marks, it is its own game, with a unique full story and character progression, and it was produced by the same company Square. Saying Final Fantasy Tactics is not a part of the Final Fantasy franchise is just incorrect. If your soul argument is because it is not a numbered Final Fantasy then that has nothing to due with a franchise.
Exactly.
The only challenge in grinding is the 'challenge' of players not pretty much dropping the game after being completely bored of it. And yes, I'm saying you don't understand the job system, because jobs are not new classes. They are specialised versions of the current classes. Re-levelling them wouldn't make a whole lot of sense in that context.Quote:
And yes I want there to be elements of a challenge in this game not the baby food your used to in WoW and Rift and other wow clones alike
I honestly couldn't get much else from the rest of your post other than you calling me a 'nub' because I wasn't prepared to sit for 36 hours camping a NM or something, and would rather have fun with friends, because you know, it's a game.
Edit: I wouldn't argue they aren't part of the same series, just saying that they're all part of one world, and therefore having an axe-wielding WHM is something more unique to that world. This is as opposed to the 'WHITE MAGE ARCHETYPE' which is apparently being totally pushed out of your mind. White mages are back-row healers and divine mage users, with low defensive and offensive output.
People asked for classic final fantasy, and that's what this team is shooting for.
Besides, arguing about it is pretty redundant now. We know each class is getting one specialisation, and they're not going to give conjurer axes or lances or whatever, no matter how much you struggle with it.
One job EXCLUSIVE to one class, as predicted, done.
I've only read so far that each class will unlock one job, so I thought anything past that was speculation?
Very cool idea!
It's not something to press the devs on currently, but I would like to see this taken up after the major stuff is dealt with.
It's like the special actions in Street Fighter IV. Maybe you gain new ones as you level up, or you could get them as rewards from some flavorful quests.
