Thanks for the positive help but god it feels sooo stressful when running that dungeon that its hard to have fun. I know it will feel nice when i finally down him but then whats the next place ill get stuck on and pissed off about? Im sure Wandering Palace and AK are just as tough as Aurum Vale.
Its Obama's fault...............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................joking
You also notice how in these troll threads, the OP never responds back. Just sits back and watches everyone get up in arms about the original post. We all fall for it every. single. time.
That does not prove anything currently. We do not know how many of those accounts are still being played to date, many of them could have purchased more game time, gotten bored and stopped playing; they still would have an active account. I may pay a monthly sub for example, however I play maybe 10 hrs a month since end game is currently lacking. I would be much more interested in seeing some stats on the amount of time players are playing the game and if so what activities they are doing.
Please do not try to bring logic on here , they will think you are trolling them.............
Anytime I see someone going NutZ over DF Que times , I try to tell them this and they call me a liar and then go on to blame SE for a failed Program.............
I have WHM 50 and BLM 50.............I wonder which these people think I play doing CM , AK spams and which I like to play ?
I can tell you , the one that gives me the shorter que times is not my main or my favorite job .........
People need to realize that forums are no indication of how well or bad a game is doing. The people who actually post on the forums are the minority in the community. The majority of this games playerbase probably never touches the forums. Last time I checked, SE released numbers with close to 1 million subs. Now, when you look at the forums and see a couple people leaving and say that the game is dying makes very little sense. Even if say, you find around 10,000 threads of people leaving with 20,000 players leaving from those threads. That will make no real difference to SE's sub income. Hell, even if 100,000 players left, this game would still be making a lot of money.
After reading some of these posts, I have to agree that sales and retention are two different things though.
The game's sales numbers are definitely pretty good, and its media reception was overall well-received.
It's really too early to say that this game is "dying" since its technically in month two of its release. I think a better time to accurately revise retention number would be in 6 months. I only hope it doesn't end up like TERA where after 3 months the population died by a lot, and it ended up just being an overhyped next-gen MMORPG.
One thing, however, I will note is that a lot of the early and mid-level FATE areas that people used to do has decreased by a lot since the game launched. I feel bad for new players who will be entering this game at a later time, especially if these areas become ghost towns - which they eventually do like most MMORPGs because everyone is at end game already lol.
all hail the add gamer, lets race to server firsts, then lets complain because we got everything done so fast
Honestly, the only clue I need to know that Java is just another naysayer is the little pop-up I get when I log in saying, "The World is full, you have been placed in a queue:" I get it alot. Off-peak it's a tiny little queue, peak it's a 5-10 minute wait. Tells me alot about the crowdedness of the game, or at least the crowdedness of my server.
Less people play Healers and tanks , they are more work and effort .
If 80% of the game majority plays DPS
and
20% max play Healers and Tanks
Your Ques will be longer
Heck even if 50% played DPS and 25/25% played healers and tanks your Ques would still be long but then it would be in the 10-15mins max range.
Simply put there are less people willing to do more than Pew Pew than the people who just want to Pew Pew .
No one is forcing you to play something of effort but if you cannot get a Fast que .................well that falls on you.
Look at it this way , 8 DPS go into DF , 1 Tank Goes into DF , and 1 Healer
Party Size Max is 4 people
That means 6 players are without a Healer and Tank , until 2 of them gets sick of DF and has to get on their healer and Tank , jobs or go level them..............
Really not that hard to understand.
Seems alive and kicking to me. I still got tons to do.
Do you want to know about another mmo that's declining ? WoW, GW2, Tera, Aion, TOR and pretty much every mmo known to man. How do I know that? Someone said it on their respective forums...
No but seriously, is it really that important to know the number of subs and if it's increasing or decreasing? I personally think that trying to somehow guess the general tendency is a waste of time. As long as there is enough people to play with and the duty finder queues are quick enough, I'm fine.
Again, this is merely a shift in population, not a drop off. I cited the common locations in which FATE crowds are most likely found, purely due to these locations being the most effective FATE farm locations, and any player past level 15 gains access to them.
The ease of leveling prevents the early leveling fates from being problematic to the leveling process. Questing will take you to your first 15 rather easily and from the second one after you're capable of following the FATE trail to 50.
Can we just label the people who always spout things like this, "Nostradamers"? After the late, great, Nostradamus, of course. We see how that turned out.
This happens all the time on MMO forums.
I think WoW has been getting declared 'dead' every day, at least 20 times a day, since about 2006...
GW2, same thing. From a week out after launch people were calling it a dead and failed MMO. Its near doubled in playerbase since then, and arguably has a higher concurrency (people logged in at the same time) than WoW. It is known to have the highest ever one-time concurrency, 450,000 to WoW's highest ever 425,000. And its still growing. But people say its dead all the time.
FFXIV... Launched a bit funny with what seemed like the devs pre-launch predicting it would not do too well, and so preparing for a release that seemed to be just catering to 'fanservice' and 'honor / restore company reputation'... and then oops... it hit the ball out of the park and launched HUGE. And yeah... still growing. New people popping in everyday as they learn the core issues at launch have been solved and copies are for sale again. This is arguably the number 3 MMO in the west right now. And its positioned very well. It plays a LOT like WoW... only its new, not an older stale thing...
This is the "WoW clone" that did it right by getting the things WoW did right, adding a little bit of new, updating graphics, having better story (by a long shot), and focusing on the part most players like: PvE (other WoW clones seem to have tried to be different by having new forms of PvP - which failed to gain them players).
This game needs to really screw it up big to fail now.
Its just positioned a little too well, and doing a little too good, to fail without something weird coming along.
The only real threat to this game is EQNext, and arguably that's a threat to GW2 and not FFXIV. EQNext intends to do what GW2 said it would do but didn't: Be a true next gen MMO. FFXIV on the other hand, is promising to be 'the last innovation of the old way for MMOs, done right.' EQNext players will likely come more from GW2 than from here. Whereas as people slowly trickly out of WoW and wonder what to do next, they'll notice this game still have 'LFG', 'trinity', and like concepts...
Which is why FFXIV is over 1.5 million now, and still growing.
I remember reading an interview with Yoshi-P some weeks before official launch, and he mentioned that he was expecting once the newness wears off and things settle into a cruising pattern that they'd be left with around 250k subs.
I have a feeling that regardless of any net loss of subscribers (if there was a loss at all) they are far surpassing that number at the moment.
I am just hoping EQnext can deliver on that. It is a ballzy claim to say you are making the next innovation in MMO's. All you accomplish there is raising people's hopes and expectations higher than they already were. Everquest 2 was suppose to be the next big thing also. For GW2, it was okay, I max leveled a character, but what to do afterwards felt out of focus. I understand it's intent was to let you go out and find for yourself, but I never had that "carrot on a stick" feeling like I do with other MMO titles, making it boring and simply stop playing.
FFXIV may not 100% deliver something new, but like other genres, it delivers well within it's own domain and that is what Final Fantasy in general has always been known for. Use Dragon Quest as a base and inspiration to make our own RPG, which looks like it turned out well for Square.
EXACTLY. It doesn't matter if this game breaks new ground in the MMO genre. All it needs to be is a Final Fantasy game. That, in my eyes, is why 1.0 was as poorly received as it was (and why I look at FFXV with a degree of trepidation). It was trying to hard to be different. By 1.23 the game at last truly felt like a Final Fantasy game, and so does ARR.
Same here. Although I almost always end up in a queue, it rarely if ever lasts more than 30 seconds. Also, Gil, keep in mind that the way the queue message is worded is slightly misleading. You get that queue when there are many people from ALL worlds trying to log on at the same time as you (and I think the Duty Finder has something to do with it, too). If the world itself was full, you'd get the famous 1017 error and get kicked back to the title screen.
And here we go again. You go ahead and keep preaching your doom and gloom. I'm gonna keep playing.
I'm so bored running fates. But nothing else can be done to get my subclasses to unlock their abilities. Worse, trying to go to an instance for a change of pace means I can't be in a fate group. With no quests and leves taking so long to refresh, the game is just boring.
Edit: Why am I bored running Fates? As a DPS trying to get into an instance takes ages. So I get into a Fate Group to speed it up. Which is really boring. I try to watch movies on my other monitor but then I just think, why even play the game?
Why do I do these things? I had 5 buddies start the game with me. I am now the only one that plays. One moved back to GW2, 2 went back to WoW, another is playing a ton of Steam games and the last one plays most of everything except for FF. I got into an FC but it was horrible. Left it and tried another one and there was nothing interesting going on. Mostly stupid conversation and people insulting people. My experience with the game has been degrading daily. After I completed the main story, there's no direction or focus. I feel I'm playing because I already paid and, somewhat, invested in the game. Maybe this post is my wake up call to just let it go.
My server seems to be booming. My brother just joined 2 weeks ago. He has no problem getting into lower level dungeons. He is a DPS and his longest wait on any of them was about 30 min. I'm at level 50 Castrum last night was about 20 minute wait and Ifrit hard was about 5 minutes which has been the usual wait times for me.
I am never in any zone where I dont see tons of people running around doing something. The creator of the thread just wants attention. He is probably just sitting by his keyboard pressing refresh constantly in hopes that someone else in this thread will mention his name. After his boner deflates he presses refresh again.
Av is not that bad, on the first boss you will have to eat the fruit on the ground once u have 2-3 stack, cant remember exactly. just have all member stand by near the furuit or have them preselect the fuirt they will go to, after that it just dodging red.
on 2nd boss it like the big one eye troll fate in dragonhead, except he wont have a red indicator, so you have to dod his swing by looking at him.
last boss is a bos check on the add part. each add atk will put a debuff on you, for each debuff it will make the boss special atk hit harder. (any more than 4 stack will mostly kill you if u not a tank.) you can eat fruit to get rid of debuff. for the add they will spawn as an eggs, kill them asap if 4 or more of them hatch you will msot likely wipe. (the trick for WHM is to go into DPS stand then holy it. (1 or 2 holy should kill all the egg, dps also need to kill egg).
i could have run you thru it if u were on cactuar ><
Some of the statements made are just funny.
"People can't log in...so once people log in they stay logged in. We're going to make it so that we afk kick people so that more can log in."
"Uhh more people are logging in, so we need an upgrade to the log in procedure..."
"Uhh more people are logging in so we need to upgrade our instance servers..."
"OMG people are flooding the FATEs! Implement population caps!! DX"
"Too many people are trying to enter pop-capped areas! ABORT! ABORT! We're sinking deeper captain!"
Boring people get bored easily
Whatever happened to playing in the yard with a stick using your imagination, those were the days.
Now you kids got all this entertainment and no imagination, such a shame.
How are you spending your Leve allowances so quickly? Are you burning them on crafting classes? Between FATEs, Dungeons, leftover quests, I keep a fairly large pool of Leves on my characters at all times.
I can only conclude that you're flatly not taking any breaks whatsoever. Burning your 6 leve allowance as soon as it comes up.
I have to ask, what other hobbies do you keep? The reason why you're bored is likely because you've played so religiously that you've actually burnt out, and the game mechanics instilled to keep people form playing obsessively are hitting you hard.
So basically, you're saying that FATE grinding is the only thing you want to do in the game? That comes across as pretty bloody limited. Personally, I'd be over the frickin' moon if FATE XP was cut in half and seals were cut to 1/4 of what they currently give. Why? to end this monumentally stupid FATE grind, and encourage people to actually PLAY the game - you know, run linked levels, guild hests, and dungeons, or even just roam the world farming mats with friends. all this group content where you and actual friends work together should be where people are focused, not on the anonymous button mashing of FATE grinds.
