Magitek based enemies are very plausible for the hard mode dungeon considering (I imagine anyone talking about this is already aware of the story for this dungeon so putting spoilers seems rather unnecessary but for the sake of being nice spoiler)





Nero was the only one to survive and we learned through the encounter in the final story dungeon that he is pretty much Cid's nemesis. So it wouldn't be out of the question to say all of these machine based enemies were created by Nero as an attempt to show that he's better than Cid.

Ultima didn't drop anything either though but we were given a hard mode version of that with loot. So you can't really count out these dungeons just because their normal version's have no loot.

I would like a Praetorium HM dungeon with everything you said, except for a "Proto-Ultima" The Ultima-fight is awesome, the HM Ultima fight is awesome, I just don't want another Ultima when there are so many other enemies in FF lore they could use. We are eventually going to have an Extreme Ultima (I would imagine), this would effectively be 4 Ultima fights in the game. I don't care if the word Proto is stuck in front of Ultima, it would still be another Ultima.

Every single other thing you pontificated about a Praetorium HM dungeon sounds pretty sweet though.

To be perfectly fair though - When has Ultima been thrown at us and he was worth 'nothing' like he was in FFXIV? Even in XI's version of the storyline mission, 'One to be Feared' was one of the hardest encounters back in 2005ish being just a storyline mission, then we later find out that the versions we fought were basically sending them on a trial run and the "actual" versions were in Limbus.

They needed an excuse to make Ultima actually be a fight worth something.

Well, here's the thing - Technology wise, the only "FF lore" creatures SE could use in regards to Garleans is:

Ultima
Omega
Diamond/Ruby/Sapphire (etc) Weapons
Proto-(insert)
Bahamut Zero (But we know how this would go)
Materia Eater

So on and so forth - There's not much they could use that would make sense, much like Acheron (Titan) is supposedly Allagan yet summons Magitek, which means Magitek is Allagan technology so they could find a way to throw in a Round 1 versus Shinryu, but that would also mean Omega Weapon has to exists somewhere.

Totally agree with you. I'm just saying, I would much rather see one of these listed enemies make their way into the game, rather than another version of Ultima. I think if they were going to go the "Proto-Ultima" route, they never should have released a one-off fight as "Ultima HM" and kept Proto-Ultima as the definitive HM version of Ultima to be released with Prae HM. They didn't do this, so to me it makes no sense to regurgitate this enemy again with a new skin and maybe some different moves. I would LOVE to see Weapons make their way into this game. We already have 3 rounds of the same 3 primals. I guess I'm just looking for the creators to give us some more variety.

Well it is hard to say how they will handle a Proto-Ultima since Proto-Ulitma is most likely a very unstable version of Ultima there is a lot of ways they can show a unstable untested technology that is meant to be powerful from how his core can blow up anytime to how they try to modify this version to include new types of attacks and weapons to replace old ones Ultima once had. His skills can easily be different from Ultima due to Proto-Ultima being created through Garlean Magitek and that this proto-ultima is a untested model of the mass produced version Gaius sought to make.

Part of the fight could involve finding a way to stabilize Prot-Ultima's core from instant wiping the group at certain phases. Attacks replaced could be like the 3 green laser ray shoots out by Ultima is replaced by a experimental laser beam which may only shoot 1 row and much large in size but due to its unstable nature can instant kill any player hit by it.

As for Omega, well Omega has always been a Stronger version of Ultima Weapon so we can't really complain much.

Maybe to earn an attack skill for the magiteck mount

I'd honestly be surprised if they revisit Castrum Meridianum or Praetorium (which was all but blown up) simply because they were tied to major story arcs and technically shouldn't be revistable. Even though you had to go into Haukke and Copperbell for the main story, it's still within the realm of possibility that lesser monsters infested those areas.

You know there is no point in encoraging SE to do something we all know they will do anyways. I can already picture Primal Nightmare Mode.

Besides we are getting 2 Hard Mode dungeons per Major update. What is stopping them from adding a different dungeon with the name Praetorium (Hard).

They may just call it Magitek Research Facility because it would be a a completely different dungeon from Praetorium normal mode and have music for the dungeon be remix versions of Final Fantasy VI musics.

Having a remix version of this would be nice...
