Assuming you max crit from HQ Baked Pipira Pira.
((655-354)/(858*5))+1.45 turns into ((655+37-354)/(858*5))+1.45 which equals 152.87% Or a ~.86% Crit Damage increase from the original 152%

Basically : If you do a base attack of 1000. A Crit w/o any extra Crit Hit above the base of 354 would do 1450, a crit at 655 w/o HQ Baked Pipira Pira would do 1520 and a crit w/ 692 (HQ Baked + 655) would do 1528~1529.

While this might not seem like a worth while increase, please realize that Crit Hit also raises your chance to crit, I think my monk sits at like a 28-29% Crit chance last I check.

Though, without counting for the Crit Chance increase from Baked Pipira, if your DPS was 1000, I can assume 28% of those attacks were crits (Lets just assume your crits were distributed evenly between your weaker and stronger attacks, i.e You critted Bootshine the same number of times you Critted a ToD tick or something like that), roughly 280 * 1.52 = 425.6dps, using baked Pipira Pira (280 * 1.5287 = 428.036) gives you a ~1.4 DPS increase before you start accounting for Crit Chance.

As usual take everything I said with a healthy big grain of salt.

This is the gist of it. i would extend it to timers in general but for simplicity's sake you can just stick to demo.

Honestly, there is no other timers you would want to alter other than demo. Sure you could fracture on a lot of different things in the monk rotation, but the only one that gives you the rotational benefit is the demo one.

i'm referring to two things.

1) you dont have to literally wait for demolish to be in que to use fracture, if you know ahead of time that it will be a rotation where demolish will be clipped. say your'e not in position for a skill but KNOW you will be using fracture in that rotation then you can go ahead and use it instead of reducing the potency of the positional skill.

2) flat out replacing tod because you know it wont run its course. ToD needs to run 27 seconds to do more damage than fracture, which is much longer than the duration of fracture.

Hi this is really helpful and I'm not debating the formula at all, but where did this formula come from? Is it applicable for all classes? And lastly do you know of a place to locate stat weights for most if not all classes?
I'm mostly interested in drk if that matters, ty.

as far as i know, Dervy is the only one currently working on stat weights, and he made most of the formulas for crit, auto attack, etc etc.
as far as im aware he only has stat weightings currently for monk and dragoon, but the general rule of thumb it seems for now is wep dmg > main stat > crit > det > ss

as far as the formulas posted here, the crit ones will work for every class, but the formulas you may find for auto attacks, skill damage, etc, they are class specific.

I would like to know why the formula says (858*5) instead of 4290. Seems like a stupid question but I'm genuinely curious lol

This is Dervy's Forumla from the Dragoon thread. You can find it in the thread OP title something along the lines of "Dragoon : How to Dragoon Per Second" or something in this topic board.

I will say that its 9/10 probably gonna be Crit > Det > SS only because Crit was buffed and Det was nerfed for 3.0, other than that I have no idea how to go about getting actual values.

To add to what others are saying, Sunny also helps with weights and formulas. Most all of our current information has been from either Dervy or Sunny. Dervy sadly has been banned from the official forums, but you can find Sunny most typically over in the Dragoon thread.

I think i understand what you mean here. Every time you use fracture, you delay one of your combo abilities by 1. If you use fracture 6 times in an encounter (with no pauses), you lose out on 6 combo abilities that would have taken fracture's place. In your example, fracture does indeed account for 30dps of your total damage, but comparing a similar 3 minute parse where you don't use fracture at all in your rotation would result in more bootshines(or DKs), more True Strikes(or twS), more demos (or SPs), which increases the overall damage of the other abilities. The dps increase is negligible at best, but an increase nonetheless. If you have the TP, go for it, if not, it's not that big of a dps increase.

Because the person who came up with this particular statement of the formula (me) decided that this way involves the fewest mysteries.

At levels 1-50, the 858 term matches your base crit/speed/accuracy/parry value (at level 50, it is actually 341). At levels 51-60, the displayed base value is (AFAICT) only relevant for food buffs; the actual values are not directly discernible from playing the game normally.

Thanks for your reply, I did do a bit more digging found dervys blog, I can post it if anyone's curious.
And yeah youre right that works as a general ballpark idea for now which is what I had a hunch of anyway with drk dps, although I do enjoy number crunching so more specific numbers are always great.

Not sure about how good it is, but its not full 210. You're using a 190 Ring over a 210 Ring FYI.

Hey all, quick question. Whats the threshold on demolish ticks before clipping it would be a dps loss? currently I'm clipping it at 2-4 seconds left (every 2 snap punches)

i should point out (as i, and others, have done multiple times before) that the use of fracture will remove any clipping on demolish if used properly, outside of mass skill speed of course.

So I've run into a minor issue with A3 Savage: TP is running almost completely dry near the end of the fight. I've tried saving my chakra stacks for the TP instead of using FC, which has helped a little. Currently we've cleared 4 times, and every time has been right around enrage.

Is the TP issue unavoidable because the our fight is going all the way to enrage (12:40+), or am I doing something wrong?

at that duration, short of using subpar rotations, yes you will be running out of TP, unless you get a paeon from bard, or the equivalent from machinist.

i know you said you are already spending chakra on meditation, but just to cover all bases, i'll say it anyway.
you can (and should) at the transition into tornado phase, gather 5 stacks of chakra, use purification, then gather another 5 stacks to use in last phase, if this is done well enough you wont miss a gcd, of course you wont be able to begin fighting the adds with courel form, but as it is a timed phase it hardly matters.

Question about Demolish timing and fracture.

I know that using Fracture can be a small DPS gain if you use it as filler for Demolishes timer.

Would the same be true for meditation? If you stacked 1 chakra every time you would fracture?
Then used it for fc?

you will still be loosing dps, but yes this will lessen the effect, you can use 1-2 meditation in place of fracture depending on your skill speed.
however, this should only be used as a last ditch effort to use purification, you still lose to much to consider using FC

edit: on second thought, let me run the numbers a little closer on this, its probably still going to only be useful for purification though.

Yeah I haven't played monk in a while and just picked it back up and kind of wondered if there was anything else interesting to do with meditation/FC besides stack meditation during downtime, and I know you can't exactly keep fracture ticking an entire fight.

I also didn't want to search 110 pages of the thread to see if someone did the math already xP. Excuse mah laziness.

That's fine, I appreciate the effort either way. Kind of a shame it's still a loss though :x. I'm really disappointed in the amount of usage you can really get out of FC and TK. I mean it's something I didn't have in 2.0 but I really wish I could use them more x.x

All depends on the content. Later content allows you a higher number of opportunities to use them, in particular current extreme primals and Alexander Savage (I can't really remember Alex normal too much since it's been quite a long while since I've done it) you get to use these abilities a decent bit. However, I do understand the initial disappointment of usage early on. Would have been nicer if they were implemented in a slightly different way, but since they've designed so much content with downtime now they work.
