Still waiting! I really hope it is soon.

Has anyone actually gotten a potion restored via the one time restoration policy? I've had an open ticket since dec 20. I've asked 3 times what the hold up is and each time I received a reply saying they have received numerous requests and they need to investigate each one. Also to wait for a GM to contact me.
Over 20 days now! I think this is a bit ridiculous on there part....to keep stringing me, and probably others, along like this.
SE please =(
Supporting this thread. Please SE! You realize how much money this will make you. Need more Fantasias!
How long will we have to wait?
I hate to keep bringing this up, but I've been waiting one month and 2 days now... It doesn't seem to matter how many times or what you ask them, you get the same canned response from the GM/Support team every time. It is utterly ridiculous that I am to believe that things are so backed up that they have not successfully investigated and fulfilled my fantasia restoration in 33 days. Even more ridiculous to believe that this is a facet of the service I am paying a monthly fee towards. Garbage.
Got my fantasia today, after putting the request in on the 22nd.
The more days SquareEnix resists to take that money for the sake of aesthetic integrity of their game, the more inclined I am to keep subscribing even during the months I don't play.
Getting new hairtcut or new clothes is fine, switching race nilly-willy: a big "no thank you" and it seem SquareEnix agrees.
You are entitled to your opinion, but it does seem like a silly reason to bank your subscription on. Either way both confirmed by Dev and GM, they do want to make more of these available in the future. I don't know if it will be for money or not, either way I don't mind as long as they are available to people that want them.
You see, I used mine (went from elezen to hyur) and was happy with this change. I don't really regret it, and would not go back to being an elezen, but even I have considered attempting to use my 1 time restore on my fantasia simply because I like the option for customization. That said, I completely agree that this should be a mog-station purchasable. It has no bearing on actual gameplay, and would get SE money. I have NO problems with cash shops that sell things that are pure vanity items, so putting these up for sale would be fine by me.
I think my main reason for considering using my 1 time restore is because I was mad disappointed that the barber didn't have an option for eye color changes. :<
Glad you got yours! I'm starting to think I have a really lazy GM / support team on my case. That, or like Rickyguo said, there is something amiss with my case. Can't imagine what it is, though. Pretty cut and dry situation. I even told them exactly which day I used my phial initially. As happy as I am for you guys that got yours, I'm pretty steamed that Rickyguo gets his in seven days, Edweird gets his in 21 days, and I'm sitting at 34 days and still being fed a "first come, first served" line.
Wait, you can use your little "one time restore" for your fantasia?
I put in my request on the 16th or so of December. I placed a ticket through support for my one time item restore for my fantasia, then "checked in" on the ticket through the ingame "ask a question" of the GMs function. Got my Fantasia back on Christmas. :3 So I think it was a little over a week, felt like a lot longer though. If I had to give advice for those using their one time restore... check reddit. Reddit has a few threads on the topic.
Still, some people already used the restore and would like another vial.
SE should just make them available in another way. Yet we hear nothing from them.
Far too many companies try to monetize at every corner they can find without caring how it affects their game as an artistic creation. Arenanet with their Guild Wars 2 is one of them, an I hope SquareEnix with FFXIV won't be one of them.
Fantasia should be extremely restricted in availability and not something you purchase with extra money beyond your subscription, no matter how much money they would earn doing otherwise.
why? fantasia potions and the ability to reskin your character give virtually no in game advantage or edge. they are purely cosmetic. personally ive already used my fantasia but im already starting to grow bored with my look and would like to switch it up to see if i like something better. aesthetics are a very important part of alot of people's play style and if they arent happy with or grow bored with how their character looks they may very well quit over it.
looks are that important... far far more important than stats imho
Precisely because FFXIV is a work of art both aesthetically and how the world is designed that I am against easy race or gender changes. Race and gender changes break against the internal logic of the world; haircuts and cloth change does not. They would though be able to do something similar be possible by introducing shapeshifters into the story, but not before they do so.
Whether or not something gives advantage is an entirely different matter, and the discussion is not needed for me to form the opinion I have on race and gender changes.
Your opinion should have no bearing on whether or not somebody else should be allowed the freedom to play how THEY want.
Simple as that.
I feel super sorry for those people that wasted their once-in-a-lifetime item restoration allowance on an useless item like Fantasia.
I'm looking forward to the day where they accidentally discarded an Kraken Club-esque item or a super-awesome relic weapon v3.5 and want it back.
Then they will regret that they had the GMs recover the Fantasia 3 years ago... :D
I would love to see this implemented. I am notoriously fickle and really enjoy changing my appearance.
I would wager (but have not proved) that your character skin isn't *entirely* irrelevant... if you are a ranged damage dealer :)
Elezen Bard: "Thwip! Thwip! Thwipthwipthwip!" "Hey, I can see my house from here."
Lalafell Bard: "TARGET NOT IN LINE OF SIGHT" "!@#$%!"
Heh!
Lol hopefully in 3 years time they will have adopted a modern day item restoration service like WoW has, where you simply go to their website where it has a database of every item you have ever destroyed/disposed of and allows you to restore any of them. (In cases where you sold the item to an NPC, it charges you the same amount you sold it for upon restoration.)

You are very right, in the sense that the text attached to the Fantasia suggests that there is a legend suggesting that drinking that special potion has a certain effect.
To be specific, the text says:
"Legend states that any who drinks this mysterious liquid before lying down for the evening will awaken a new man (or woman)"
---------
I had not seen the picture with the text before, so this is new information for me thank you.
Given this new information: it is clear that the Fantasia potions needs be kept rare to not break against the "Legend" status it currently has and I would definitely encourage SquareEnix to change the usage of the potion so that you have to wait until the ingame morning to see the change :).
BUMP~~~~~~~
Yes I am getting tired of not being able to change race or certain skin colors and features, Fantasia potion on mog asap!
I hope everyone bumps this post a few times or more per day this is getting old and no news on it...
uhm it shouldn't be added in a patch it can just be added via the mogstation really easy and simple, Like me for instance I would have bought 2 of them. But now I am broke so I can not. So much money they could have made on it what a shame.
On a side note, I actually went back to -ion for a bit and bought a gender change ticket for my 65 ranger and it was around 30 bucks I may buy another one for my 65 gunner too because I do enjoy to remake my character that I play. And this is not breaking the TOS because I did not mention the game's name or company of that which I mentioned.
I know I was threatened before for asking for customer service and told if I ask again I will get my game account banned so I being very careful on what I say. But I am sorry ok I really would like customer service from the company I love. Please don't ban me for asking that...
I'm pretty confident they'll add Fantasia potion as a paid optional service in the future.
The question is, when?
I can appreciate the points you make about a legendary item being rare, but relic weapons are themselves supposed to be legendary yet they are everywhere. Maybe the first fantasia potions that were made are rare, but some crazy alchemist rediscovers the formula or the ancient texts are discovered containing the unique recipe. :) This is assuming they decide to make the potions available through means within the game and try to explain it through lore.
I don't think there has to be any back story as to why they introduce Fantasia into the Mog Station. Hell, we re run the same dungeons day in day out. Yet the mobs are still there each time and he bosses some how come back?!?!
Relic weapons involve a very long quest chain and you can only have one per class. They've kept their legendary status in such way.
Analogously Fantasia potions should be hard to obtain. And if it isn't hard, the game should provide a good explanation for why the previously legendary item is now so easy to obtain :P.
This may not matter to other people, but for me it matters a lot that the internal logic of the world is kept; that things makes sense given the world they are in.
