Was bored enough to queue for Alexander Normal in DF tonight. I figured, why not upgrade some of the law gear on some of my alts (so I can turn it in for seals, lol) and get rid of some of the stray tokens I have laying around? It's been... an adventure.
Some highlights:
- A PLD that runs away from me with the same-color Ferrofluid tether (cue Yakkety Sax music...)
- A WHM co-healer in A4 with i136 gear in several slots
- Multiple DPS that won't break tethers in A4
- Multiple DPS that leave adds hitting healers in A1
- Not being able to make the DPS check on adds in A3
- A fire tether in A3 that refused to pass (tank walked thru it 4x before I died)
The worst part is, I haven't won a single drop all night. >:| -

As far as I can say CDs are neccessary if
1. you run some hardcore content

When I play the paladin I prefer using CDs no matter the circumstances, though.

Lowlevel roulette, this time on my dragoon, end up in Copperbell NM with a scholar, a sprout thaumaturge (newbie message pops up) and a gladiator telling us they're tanking the dungeon for the first time and thus asks us to be patient. I'm always up for helping people new to their class or role so I decide to slow down my DPS to not steal aggro and this way give the tank a chance to actually tank. Well, they're spamming flash, which is a good start, unfortunately the enemies aren't always in range, and the thaumaturge is pulling shit anyway by casting sleep. I ask them not to pull anymore, but I don't get an answer or see another reaction (sometimes I believe that some newbies don't realize that FFXIV is an mmo and thus think that the people they're running duties with are NPCs...), so it's that little mage tanking most of the dungeon.
We reach the final boss, the scholar and I simultaneously say "focus boss", we laugh about it, I tell the tank that they can't stun the boss so they may want to dodge the aoe, the thaumaturge pulls again and I realize that my advice was completely useless because our ignorant tank mage gets aggro after the boss smashed the rock. This time they even kite so it's in fact impossible for the poor tank to take the boss back while I'm getting extremely annoyed because I really don't want to run after this shit. At this point I f*** off being patient, the tank won't take the boss back anyway, so I put out full DPS, grab the boss and tank it for the rest of the fight.
I got two comms at the end while I commended the tank to motivate them not to give up on tanking and for at least trying to do a good job. The very attempt of doing things right is also something people should honor. -

Alex Normal on DF is a hit of miss. In Chaos datacentre, I will say 20% of the run will end up in nowhere. You can still farm it, but you just have to take it easy on some cases. RNG loot drop is still the real hell. -

Joined 60 roulette as my AST and got Neverreap. Had a PLD, BLM and SMN, all around the 155-160 mark on ilevel. None are new to the dungeon. Tank pulls tiny mob groups (which is fine, I don't mind that too much) and was generally OK.
Unfortunately, the SMN and BLM were, hands down, the worst DPS I've ever seen.
I'm talking <400 DPS on trash mobs. Combined. It took 15 minutes to reach the first boss, and that's with me doing as much DPS as possible (usually the most). First boss took 10 minutes because neither DPS would hit the shadow form of the boss. The black mage was casting random F3 and B3 and I'm pretty sure was just facerolling the keyboard. I out DPS'd both of them against the bees. Second boss took forever as well.

But, like a fool, I persisted. Maybe I'm secretly a machoist. I spoke up in party chat about the low DPS and got precisely zero response. Final boss 45 minutes in. Starts off ok, then we hit the first add phase and the SMN gets knocked off by the knockback pulse at the end of it. The BLM is utterly unable to kill the adds on the second add phase spawn, and seems to think running at the boss and losing half his health is the required solution to this problem.
I jump off the edge and force it all to end, then ask the BLM directly in party chat if he knows how to use his skills in any sort of rotation or method that makes him look like he's actually played the game more than the last 5 minutes.
He quits. Then so do the others. Not a word said the entire time. :confused:
50 minutes of my life wasted :(
EDIT: Oh and the BLM had some Mind accessories, and the SMN had Mind and Vit accessories. -

I'm a BRD with i200 weapon, went into EX roulette. Got a WAR with i170 weapon. Shouldn't be a problem, right? This guy couldn't hold hate at all, me and healer ripping hate off all the time. Got to first boss, Quelling for pull as usual, 2 minutes later, I have hate, thankfully Quelling isn't on CD anymore, so I pop it again. One minute later, I have hate again. Boss down, I bail the party, I'm not gonna waste my time with runs like this. Neither am I gonna gimp myself to make up for someone's extremely poor skills.
And this WAR was even using Steel Cyclone and Overpower + full-time Defiance with 1 STR accessory, so this is clearly a tank with dungeon experience, not one who has no idea what to do. -

I'm a little late to some endgame content, such as Alex Normal. I've been dragging my feet with any sort of raid content because raid grinders have notoriously bad attitudes. Thanks to some prodding from FC members Im finally doing Alex and I'm enjoying getting the gear, when RNGesus is with me.
The story: I recently farmed A3 for a fair while and there's a recurring problem with people lately that makes me have to hold my breath and count to ten. Tank shouldn't have to chase your tethered butt, and tank should most definitely not have to get tether successfully only to have a spazzy lala take it back Q_Q Idk why it's such a pet peeve I should be happy to let deeps die for actively sabotaging me but pfew
Unrelated to any particular story I havent gathered the courage to do A4 yet. It's reputation is doing a good job at scaring me off -

Just had a titan run for my leveling roulette tank proceeds to remove all their gear and only have on lvl 1 accessories they couldn't hold hate they didn't even use grit after wiping 4 times they put their gear back on but the healer was not happy with them and let them die so we ended up doing titan without a tank

I think the worst run I've ever had of anything in the DF was Haukke Manor... it was pre-HW and I was running as a level 50 WHM helping my bf level lancer. The warrior tank decided that he wanted to pull everything from start of dungeon to boss room to do a speed run, and so everything was chaotic. Tank was dying and I got caught in an aoe that prevented me from casting because there were aoe's everywhere... and when we all wiped, I was automatically blamed and called a mediocre healer for not "spamming cures". That was the first time the DF ever failed me with a bad tank and I still think about that run every time I play a healer in Haukke. -_-

Saw something I thought was kind of strange. I cued in leveling roulette for tomes(On BLM cause felt like nuking), ended up in Library and saw a Scholar using Cure. No physic at all. She used cure and spammed Succor like Medica. Almost every pull the Tank's hp got really low and he had to use Clemancy. I guess they were friends since I imagined any sane tank would be like "Nope!" to something like that. She came close to running out of mp on all the boss fights. Most of her gear was Vit accessories and one Garuda healing ring. Luckly everyone else seemed to be pretty good at dodging but it was still an odd run.

Oh, my god, I ran Dusk Vigil this weekend with a tank who could not keep aggro to the point the healer nearly died twice before the first boss. I checked the tank's gear.
He was using a level 42 Notched Bill. Not the Vintage Bill...the garbage drop.
I asked if he had a higher level weapon. He replied, "Unfortunately not."
I just. Asdjffkmdjkglk. THEN WHY ARE YOU TANKING.
As a warrior main, I was fuming for the whole run.
I used Smokescreen on the healer whenever it was up, but...god. Why would anyone think that was okay. -

We get to the second boss, and part way through the fight, my Internet pretty much dies completely for a few seconds, and I have to log in again. I get through the process quickly enough to continue the fight. Only suddenly I'm not fighting an Angry Mudkip anymore, but a freaking Dragon. Which promptly flies away.
