Please more housing wards soon. And no more FC/Private Hybrid.

Currently there is a load of free housing plots on several servers in the amount if you want one, go get one, and transfer to another server if it is that important to you, if you decided to stay on a server that is severe overpopulated to a degree it get an issue, then the solution is to go somewhere else.

Stop creating or finding a problem where there is none.

They always tell you to transfer character to an empty server and then use data center travel but they forgot to mention that you cannot:
- use retainers
- gather legendary nodes
- check linkshells
- enter verminion tournaments
- enter triple triad tournaments
- play jumbo cackpot
- check your ingame mail
- play ranked crystalline conflict
- get invited to a wedding

So you either get stuck alone in an empty server or constant hopping back and forth just to use a retainer drives you insane. All for a house. Great idea guys

People suggest it because being extremely blunt, it is the only solution you'll get for a long time. 7.1 is realistically the earliest they'll do any sort of housing, if they actually want to add anything, and that's realistically a year ish away.

The beginning of EW & when Island Sanctuary dropped showcase that the Housing server does not have enough instances to support the entire playerbase, as people were getting locked out of being able to enter their homes entirely during those periods of time due to too many instances open at the same time. Meaning any solution to give every player unequivocal access to a house will -not- work and will instead introduce an entirely different and much more serious problem in its stead.

The devs have constantly mentioned they want the playerbase to spread out across the datacenters, so housing is a good mechanic to drag people kicking and screaming to Dynamis/smaller servers. They have zero reason to put in any more housing until Dynamis & smaller servers fills up.

If you want a house without torturing yourself on hilariously low lottery odds from huge competition, you go to Dynamis or a smaller server. If you want to stay on a larger server, you play ridiculous odds in the lottery and realistically don't get a house.
Pick your poison, because an antidote ain't coming for a loooongggg time. It's the uncaring, blunt reality, and why people suggest to go somewhere else. Staying on huge RP servers with huge housing demand like Balmung or Mateus is a self-inflicted punishment that more wards won't even fix in reality.

Also speaking as someone who has tons of friends on both Aether & Crystal and hops between both near daily to play with the different friend groups, I really don't get why people say anything like 'leaving their friends behind'. You can literally go right back and play with them in <1min at any point. And if they won't join a CWLS because you no longer share an FC to keep easy communication between you when you're travelling back to play with them? Then hate to break it to ya, they weren't really your friends.

Have you considered using alts to place 7 bids on a free company plot? You could use your main character to hop between your alts' fc and your current fc whenever you want to decorate. If you like to keep multiple characters in your current fc, you can put 6 of them back there after winning the house. Just keep 1 alt as the master.

This would still allow you to potentially keep bidding on personal plots with your main if that's your ultimate goal. The benefit of bidding on an fc plot instead of personal plot with your alts is that if one of your alts wins a personal plot, your main character will not have access to it and you will not be able to get a personal plot for your main character on that server.

Considering there are Mateus plots out there with ~10 bids right now, 7 lottery tickets would give you significantly better odds than 1 and it would give you access to housing whilst staying on your server. I'll help you set it up if you're interested.

True. but right now i only have 1 main wich is my main Ahri, and my alt is already bidding on unwanted plots, but even those i lose.

But it dosn't discourage me as it used to honestly. I guess i'm just trying out of futility, but it's better than not trying. :)

And just know please, i'm not against you or anything, i really do appriciate the effort you put into replying to me and all.. and i know im not easy to deal with, but i do appriciate that a fellow neighbour (country wise) is taking their time to write to me. <3

All of this is correct, but it's really only a band-aid solution even then with withering odds. Last round my FC bid on a medium in Lavender beds and it had 65 bids by day 3. Not sure how many bids there were by the time we claimed the plot last week, but I would estimate the number was extremely high and winning with one bid was nothing short of a miracle. This was plot 11 Lavender beds on Maduin, by the way. Transferring to Dynamis is absolutely no guarantee of success, and the best window of opportunity has already come and gone.

It's basically no effort to increase your odds, just a 30 day wait time after fc creation during which you could easily reach rank 6. One alt has to be at least level 25 in order to create the fc and collect 3 signatures. The signatures can come from the same account, so your friend or your SO could make 3 alts. I've helped several people with signatures this way. If you make more alts for more bids, they only need to be able to access the housing district. There is no level requirement to bid on free company plots.

Don't wait too long to decide. This will no longer be effective in Dawntrail when people return to the game and try their luck with housing. You'll have to wait until 2025 for there to be a reasonably low amount of bids again. We will probably not be getting new wards or a district in Dawntrail because otherwise they would've used it as a selling point for the expansion.

It is your choice but any choice will comes with consequence.
You are not going to a high pay job without invest in Education, there is no other way around.
If you don't want to invest in Education but want a high pay, that usually means criminal activity and consequence is the prison

I don't deny that, as I stated it's correct that the best course of action right now is to move if you want a house. Keyword: right now. But it's not as good of an opportunity as it once was, and in the near future, it won't be the opportunity it is now. "Move to Dynamis" is not a permanent solution.

It is to get a medium right now, yes, after DT it will probably still be one except for a short time after release.

Gonna give my 2 cents on the matter since it only took me 4 years to realize the housing forum exists.

There is no "housing shortage" on the majority of servers. Taking a look through Paissa, most have over 100+ open plots with Dynamis being the obvious exception with 1000s available on all servers. Primal even has between 200-400 open on most servers. The only servers that have under 100 plots open are Sargatanas, Midgardsormr, Balmung, Mateus and Excalibur (I would constitute under 100 being a shortage). So, we've established that there are houses for people to get if they want but people aren't buying them. This means that the issue is moreso a "pickiness" thing rather than "I physically cannot get a house because 0 are available".

If you personally don't want to transfer for a house, that's entirely your choice. As others have said already however, going to Dyna for an easy house (0 bid plots) is the only option for you right now. There is no guarantee we're getting any more districts or that they'll expand housing within the next 6m+, so I think ya'll should decide for yourself how much you actually want a house.

If you're holding out on getting a house simply for the fact, for example, that you don't want a small in Goblet....you're creating your own problem. I got a house in my first week in Diabolos just by going for a small with plans to upgrade in the future and won it on a 50/50. It was that simple.

I just really can't get behind the idea that there's this big shortage on all servers when I stare at the plots around me that are empty because people don't want to take less than their ideal. I think we should just start calling it what it is: "People only want specific plots and won't take less."

We'll see what the results bring on Thursday

You then have to weight on what you want to do, and that is all that can be said about that in the end, there is no housing shortage and it would be too much to ask the developers to make more wards alone due to that, and if anything you would do the ones on the lesser populated servers a favor for being able to get large and medium easy, but it does not change the fact that you would have even more empty wards and then even more lost resources going into the game at absolute no point.

Change server, if it is the case and that having a house is a must, or make an alt and get a house on another server instead.

Just want to point out that if you’re looking at the top number on Paissa, that’s all plots, including FC-only. So for example, my server (Bryn) has 157 available. Setting the filters, only 55 of those are able to be bid on by individuals. These 55 plots are either individual-only or unrestricted. Everything else is FC-only. Currently bids on smalls are ranging anywhere from 2 to the high teens; none that are available this round are at 0 bids. And the ones that aren’t even available to bid on yet are also included in that total number.

Are some people picky? Sure! If everyone took every Goblet small, would there still be enough houses on those worlds for everyone to have one? No, not judging by the number of bids per cycle. And Goblet isn’t necessarily unpopular on all worlds. If you judge desirability by number of plots available, my server loves Empyreum because there’s only 5 plots left, but all the other districts are pretty even at 10-14. (Shiro 10, Mist & LB at 13 each, then Goblet only 1 extra at 14.) I didn’t even go into sizes… 46 of those are small, leaving 9 larger sizes for everyone to fight over.

Honestly the lottery encourages pickiness. Instant relocation was taken away, so the old advice of “get any small, upgrade location and/or size later” no longer applies. Your odds of being able to do that now through the lotto are astronomical. If it’s all RNG anyways, you might as well try for what you want when it’s available or you could be throwing away your only chance.

Moving servers, while bettering the odds, by no means guarantees a plot. It’s still a lotto, someone could still come along and bid at the last minute and win it out from under you. And server hopping does come with a long list of inconveniences… I don’t blame anyone for not wanting to move for the chance at a plot that they won’t get to spend much time at because actually playing the game means they have to DC hop every 5 minutes.

Which is why I’ve always advocated for an instanced system to supplement the wards. People who just want a place to decorate and customize can go instanced, those who want and prefer ward housing for “the neighborhood” or for venues can stay there. I have a plot I’m happy with, so I’m not in the lottery anymore unless my dream plot comes up. But the system is still broken: I feel for everyone struggling through it… and one day, even Dynamis will suffer from it.

Yes that makes sense in real life but this is a video game. I come here to have fun, not to ponder if I should cripple myself across several subjects just for the sake of a better shot at a house I want.

If Square wants for people to move to empty servers there are better ways of doing it then make housing shitty for anyone in more populated servers.

Honestly the lottery encourages pickiness. Instant relocation was taken away, so the old advice of “get any small, upgrade location and/or size later” no longer applies. Your odds of being able to do that now through the lotto are astronomical. If it’s all RNG anyways, you might as well try for what you want when it’s available or you could be throwing away your only chance.

Moving servers, while bettering the odds, by no means guarantees a plot. It’s still a lotto, someone could still come along and bid at the last minute and win it out from under you. And server hopping does come with a long list of inconveniences… I don’t blame anyone for not wanting to move for the chance at a plot that they won’t get to spend much time at because actually playing the game means they have to DC hop every 5 minutes.

Which is why I’ve always advocated for an instanced system to supplement the wards. People who just want a place to decorate and customize can go instanced, those who want and prefer ward housing for “the neighborhood” or for venues can stay there. I have a plot I’m happy with, so I’m not in the lottery anymore unless my dream plot comes up. But the system is still broken: I feel for everyone struggling through it… and one day, even Dynamis will suffer from it.

I'm aware it's FC only included, people who are desperate enough have made FCs simply for housing so I'm including it since it is a valid option. I get that people worry about losing friendships but at the same time, if your friendship with someone is tied to an FC then they're not your actual friend. I've transferred to all of the DCs now in NA throughout my 4 years and still manage to keep friendships with people from all of them. It really depends on how badly you want a house if making an FC for an easy one is the right option for you.

If everyone in the server is fighting over a large and leaving the smalls with 0 bids, that's 46 houses that could have been taken up by people who went for the large. The smarter option would be to get the easy small and then continue to bid for larges because at least you have a house and can work towards your dream one, instead of praying you win against 200+ other people and leaving empty handed. In one hand, you lose but you have a house still. In the other, you get upset that you still don't have a house and demotivation hits harder. If you want to sit there and say that there's a shortage because you only want to bid for the large then you're causing your own problem by only accepting one thing instead of compromising. I'm not at all trying to say there are enough houses for every single person in the entire game, but there are houses sitting there and that's something that can't be denied.

I'm in the camp of all of this being intentional to keep subs up for consistent income on their end, which is why instanced housing is a pipe dream at this point unless it comes with auto-demo lol.

That's their choice. But then they have to be willing to match the competition of the server they've chosen to play on. Odds can be improved a lot even without moving data centers and it would be very easy to get at least a Goblet small on any server before Dawntrail. There are Balmung/Mateus plots with less than 20 bids at the moment and people can place 8 bids per server (16 if stacking bids with a friend).

Again, it is your choice because the option and opportunity is there.
Also, what you want and what you actually need is two different things.
A lot of time, you need to sacrifice to get on thing you want.
Instance house and idea of Large for everyone is just not going to be offer by FF14.

And regarding instanced housing, I am of the same opinion that i'll never happen, and am very happy if it never happens, FFXIV is ward housing, there's enough games out there with instanced.

They did stop the auto demo for two years across the entire game during covid and continue to do so whenever some disaster strikes somewhere. I guess it's safe to assume it doesn't make them that much of a difference in income.

They didn't need to worry because of covid. If I remember correctly, covid brought in tons of people to the game which equaled more subs in general and cash shop purchases. Couple that with the rise of the venue scene that now carries the game during content droughts (also emerged during covid), they had their bills paid and little risk of letting people not stress about their houses during that period.

Now that covid is over and people are back in the real world, that same guarantee isn't there anymore. Post-EW being less than satisfactory for a percentage of the community didn't help much either.

They have more to risk now by letting people take a break on their subs compared to covid, in a nutshell.

You are still creatIng problems where there is none, it is obvious some of the servers is over populated for some silly reason, and that is why you run into the housing bottleneck...

There is 1000s of houses out there spread out on servers on each DC, it is a sacrefice either you go to somewhere, where you can get a house or you stay where you are, get into an open minded FC that allows its players to redecorate and the likes instead, or something down those lines.

There is too many wards already and there is to many vacant houses to justify adding more wards.

I was able to purchase a small lot in Brynhildr on my 3rd try a little over a year ago. I have bid on a medium lot on almost every bid for 1 year straight without getting one. I notice when I wait til the end right before results pop there is always 20-40 bids pop up in the last few minutes. Can we please get more housing. There is so much gil spent in the housing market. This additional housing will help all around.
1. More happy players.
2. A more robust auction market for crafters and gatherers.
3. More Gil for everyone that is a by-product of the housing market.
4. The trickle-down effect of this would be a boom for those who profit off of crafting and gathering.
5. The online store could sell a bigger variety of housing items since it gives no competitive advantage to players.

I agree with you. Why would you want to move away from all of your friends? Your whole gaming experience built around relationships to enjoy your experience. I wonder how many of these people telling you to move already have the house that they want.

I don't think anyone is telling anyone else to move because they think that's how it should be to get a house. I think they're telling you that because it really is the best chance you have in the situation we're in now.

Moving allowed me, with some luck, to get exactly the Mansion and FC house I and my FC wanted, without settling. I can still play with all of my old friends on Ultros because we have DC travel, and they can come and visit my house. I don't feel at a loss for doing so. I'd like you not to have to, but it's really the best shot anyone has and that shot is quickly disappearing as we reach 7.0.

Except characters on the same account cannot be made tenants (outside of old characters where players used an exploit to get their characters friended with each other).

Players would prefer to have their houses on their mains that they are playing, not an alt that exist only get a house their character can visit but not use.

I'm still in the camp of "if you want a house that badly, move to where they are available". For now, that's the best chance of being able to get a house in NA. Data center travel allows players to continue playing with their friends. I don't see SE opening up more wards when they want players spreading out more to help reduce log-in congestion issues at expansion launch and the first couple of major patch releases.

A lot of players are happy to share their houses with their friends. Ask around. You may not have to buy if your friend if less than inspired when it comes to decorating but you are.

Also, if you're not using your house then please relinquish it. If you're not using it now, and especially if you've never used it since you bought it, do you honestly think you're ever going to get around to using it in the future?

Mao uses house constantly. Mao nots do much redecoratings now though because glitchings so hard on Mao. If some day SE brings in XYZ positionings then Mao gonna go CRAZY with redecoratings!
