Name changes will not be allowed at all. They have already answered me on this one. The plans for the future are only to implement an optional service to acquire fantasia, which is cosmetic only. No name changes will be allowed in FF XIV. It was something I was lobbying for, but they smacked that down in an email I asked them in.

Um...they've already stated they want to allow name changes.

It even says so in the quote on the very first page.

They clearly didn't answer you on this one sorry, they've never said they WOULDN'T. Just that they'd have to consider it very carefully due to the nature of it. Bear in mind that GM's / Support Representatives aren't always 100% aware of future options and are usaully only aware/informed of the current options available, the response you received was most likely a 'Do we have this service available now?' answer.

Greetings everyone. Some of you probably remember me attempting the item restore policy while already being 3 months since the fantasia was used. I am happy to say that as of today I just got the Fantasia on the mail from the GMs. It took only 1 week as opposed to some people experiencing 2 weeks of wait.

This confirms that the 10 day restriction is indeed not necessary and that the fantasia can be restored no matter how much time has passed since its consumption. I will be carefully and patiently playing around with several alts to make extremely sure that I make no mistakes with the fantasia.

Anyone not wanting to wait for fantasia to be implemented months from now can try their hand at the item restore policy. I followed the instructions provided by other people provided earlier on this thread and it worked perfectly.

There's too many pages to go back to read.

What exactly were the steps you took to ensure you could get your Fantasia renewed, if you don't mind?

It's been at least 2 months since I've used mine and I've been unhappy with my race change since I did, but didn't think to go to customer support assuming nothing could be done and that it was my fault... :/

uhm... why not just make the Aesthetican able to perform gender and race changes too? (for a higher fee of course, maybe even seals and with a cooldown).
Plastic surgery exists irl too. That'd completely negate the Fantasia potion but maybe make the potion include a name change too instead.

It really depends on the GM you get. I've constantly got a negative response from my attempts, even though I was very close to the limit and provided all the necessary information politely. The first messages from SE were incredibly messy aswell... and it's been about a month and a half now.

Glad you got yours though. :) And anyone that has managed it.

I'm very much in favor of making it a purchasable item with cash. I don't want armor and weapons like in pay2win games, but I don't see the big deal. I used this service in WoW several times a year just to switch up my character.

I'm also ok with cosmetic armor/weapons that have no stats if they implement a transmog system like WoW.

Yoshi-P is worried that making it something easily obtainable will allow people to change it constantly, so offering it as a gil exchange in-game would mean people could change quite a lot.

They want to consider their options carefully and they appear to have gone for the cash-exchange option this time around as it's the most limiting one, people aren't going to pay £20 a week to change their character.

That's why he included "with a cooldown", I assume. Limiting it to once per week/month would be good, and its not like the change would really affect anyone but you. Selling Fantasia for real world money is fine, but a gil based system could easily work too.

It's a bit strange to me that people would want to change their race constantly, though. 2 Fantasias would be enough for me if I ever wanted to just experience being whatever race that isn't Lalafell. Maybe it's just because I haven't had that urge yet (though the camera can be quite annoying, admittedly :P) and still have my Fantasia, but I can't see someone being so indecisive that they buy like... 100 Fantasias and use one a day. Unless, of course, you have nothing better to do with your $/gil - but then the change is only really affecting you anyway.

Only replies I get from support is about the 10 days. Hardly fair considering those of us who used it in september had no idea about requesting a restoration until THEY told us in october...

Pretty unfair. They can't just give some a restoration and ignore others.

I would be more satisfied if they started offering the actual service instead of this item restoration workaround.

Considering people who had months pass since their last phial use got theirs restored, I suggest people state this when they wanna contact a GM. Basically state that you are unhappy with your change and you wish to use your 1 time item restoration policy feature and that there have been plenty of people getting theirs back, while others were rejected, regardless of when the phial was used.

I'm gonna try that at least. Because unfortunately, looks are important to me in game and it's making me not wanna log in anymore because i hate how my character looks. x.x

EDIT: So, just got confirmation from an SE representative that they WILL be restoring my Phial of Fantasia. They have sent the information to GMs and will catch me in game to place the item in my inventory. There's no specific day this will happen, so I gotta play the waiting game.

And I used my first Fantasia about 2 1/2 months ago. So....yaaaaaaaaaayyy!! So excited !! ^__^

well i sent in a ticket yesterday....all i got was a few paragraph long reply telling me to use the vendor buyback feature and how lost items can be restored, its quite clear to me that they did not even read my ticket and only saw the word "restoration" in the title

edit: lol i tried to reply to said ticket and to my surprise...it was actually closed

So I pretty much said that I used my phial 2 1/2 months ago, that I was unaware of the 10 day restoration restriction, and that I was unhappy with my choice of race/consumption of the item. I also stated, and this is VERY important, that I wanted to use my 1 time item restoration policy feature for this request. I feel like THIS is what nailed me my success. I also stressed how I understand this restoration can only be used ONCE per account.

How I contacted them was:

1) Log into the game.
2) Press 'Escape' then press 'Support Desk'.
3) At the bottom, right-hand corner of that 'Support Desk' window, click on 'Search Database'.
4) Look for "How to contact a Game Master" and click on that.
5) At the bottom, right-hand corner of that window, click on "Ask Question"
6) Title your request as: "1 time Phial of Fantasia Restoration" or something.
7) Proceed to type in whatever you'd like regarding your inquiry.

Hope that helps you guys !! <3

well the 2nd ticket got a clean flat out nope, "consumption has been too long ago"

in that ticket i had included the aprox date used with a note that people had theirs restored long past the 10 day limit

not sure i should even bother with a 3rd one as its going to get the same reply anywayz

I cannot understand why someone would withhold the distribution of a digital item, whose purpose is to enrich the gameplay experience on an aesthetic level, from the people who want but cannot obtain a new one.

The current planned Athestician is insufficient for the mistakes I'd like to fix, and an unspecified post-2.1 date for the Fantasia service is unfavorable. Please find a way to distribute more Phials of Fantasia in 2013!

sadly they wont, SE is too slow to decide anything in a timely manner, i would actually be quite surprised if it got added sooner than half a year from now

Did you make sure to include that you wanted to use your 1 time only item restoration policy feature? Cause When I said that, they replied with a "We'd be glad to help you get your item restored. But do take note that this is a 1 time feature and will be unable to be used again in the future." basically. They then proceeded to link me to their item restoration policy page.

So, I'm not understand why some people are getting rejected. It makes me sad. :/

yes i did, included that i wanted to use my one time item restoration, the aprox date, the char name/world and the item name

edit: as i said before, likely have to meet a nice GM to get it restored

It's completely ridiculous that they favor some people over others. When did you write your ticket and how long did it take them to reply? I wrote one yesterday with the stuff you mentioned.

Edit: Just got my Fantasia back.

I put in a request yesterday. They replied saying that a GM will contact me if my request is granted.

Glad to see people are getting their Fantasias. Happy edits. Honestly its the only option right now unless you want to wait til 2.2 or beyond. It could take as much as 4 months. They're probably thinking on introducing them on the same patch as Vanity Slots. But yeah. Now that my worries about my character are put to rest I can now focus on waiting for Vanity Slots. I'm already building sets of what I want to use for my classes.

I am pleased to announce that i also managed to have my fantasia recovered after 1 week of waiting. i used mine 45 days prior to sending a request.

i'm going to just assume that the ten day rule is more of a guideline and it completely depends on what is in the body of your message and what kind of GM you get.

I wrote mine on Yesterday (Friday) afternoon 11/28/13, around 2pm. Got a response 11/29/13 around 6am. But I'm still waiting on a GM to restore my Fantasia. You got yours hella quick....wtf. O.o
