They barely existed. People were discussing raid optimization in Idyllshire chat and theorycrafting rotations on Reddit.

This again??
- Online interactions are not rated by the ESRB
- ERP Has been part of MMOS for at least 20 years. Are you new to online gaming?
- If you're letting your 13 year old child play an online game without supervision, you're an awful parent/guardian.
- Why do you care about what consenting adults do or don't do in private venues?
I'm afraid that those are the main people keeping this game alive at this point, so, they'll probly never do anything about it or plugins
people going on about online age ratings when the user agreement says "The Game is for players aged 13 and older. You agree to behave accordingly." ultimately, like the whole mod/plugin/botting scene in this game, it's because of SE's lack of meaningful enforcement. why would players care about censoring themselves if there aren't consequences for their actions, lol.

I think they go the route that if nobody's really complaining then why bother doing anything about it.
The answer to that is easy.. while you can play the game at 13+, you need to be 16 or 18+ (depending on where you live) to actually have an income. And obviously not every minor is going to ask their parents to pay for a monthly sub for them, let alone get a yes answer... so it makes sense that most players are 18+. It's only sad however that most games however seem to focus on degenerates, that I agree with...
the internet is 18+... whoever says something different doesnt know the internet.
Because this is how low and pathetic this "game" has become.
Actually it could become a problem because this games social features are really poor. They made discord for FFXIV/XIV? and this game is 'still' unworkable without it. Now as this rrRampant sexualisation becomes more prevalent *and these PFs contribute by normalising this* it evermore becomes plastered in 'every' discord community.
I 'personally' don't like big bulging packages of meat and two veg on my hermaphrodite big hootered bun Bois for the same reason I don't like big bulging packages of meat and two veg on my male bunbois, because it 'hyper' sexualises the game, and it's not in keeping with the 'naive optimistic wholesome' FANTASY vibe that first attracted me to this game filled with it's exuberant smol folk and I find it 'Yuck!'. I make no apologies for my personal feelings about where I am comfortable with dealing with my own sexuality and where I am not. I just want to play a game.
I left one community because being in it was just spoiling the game for me.
But I'm starting to see it everywhere. This did not used to be the case. If I have to leave every discord the game will be unplayable. But a lot of these deviant discords of depravity are spoiling the game for me.
I'm poking fun at it because I know ill come across as a prude, but it's spoils the game for me, and there is such a thing as too much, and these PFs are part of a growing trend that DOESN'T NEED ANY HELP TO GROW. FFXIV players be thirsty enough as it is. Bonk!
As ever if it's just me then it's not a problem. I'll just have to leave. If it's not just me then there is a problem.
If XIVs X rated shenanigans becomes the viral meme that defines this game in the wider community outside of those that actually play it, maybe even to those that don't game, then this game's rep is ruined forever. It will just be "that game for wierdos", and people won't want to give it a chance. Then the game as you know it is FCKd. I'd like to see some Nintendo style IP protection on this matter. It's been taken too far for the games long term prospects. If I was in Blizzards marketing black ops team, this is what I'd be targeting.
Just do what you can SQX. I don't actually see what they can do. But the OP definatly has a point.

With mods FF is probably the most explicit online game by a mile, how I'd imagine second life to be if they brought out a 2.0 and the default assets were Final Fantasy themed.
Some venues even have their own mod packs.
Clubs openly advertise what's necessary in their discords or online games to see each other in a different way.
I am surprised SE hasn't had GM's join the groups and just go on ban sprees.
No I did. I came back because of the live letter, and another new in game social opportunity. I don't hold a grudge against the game. I'm one of those rare people who both uses the internet and sometimes changes their mind. Once e you factor in that you can use the forum for 14 days after your sub runs out it's was probably more.
But if you want to think a character posting on a forum is liar with no evidence and that they are lieing about a game, well I don't give a F.
No, you don’t actually play the game. Look at the actual images from the game and see how that compares to the game that you play. Does it look remotely similar? THIS is the real FFXIV:

XD
Fair enough. I maybe see your point.
But genuinely, I saw the positive in the live letter. It worked for me, and when it comes to a game. That's all that matters.
(The crafting moon thing seems like a total waste of dev resources though. Everyone is just going to macro it or worse. Right now it has all the appeal of putting on the dish washer, but a lot more useless. But its early days. We should wait and see.)
SE is either blissfully ignorant or they just don't know about it. This stuff does not happen in Japan and i think they don't really care what happens in the west. Yoshi P didnt know that RMT was an actual thing until 2019 or so when he has seen an actual in game shout advertising it lol.
Imagine a new player wanting to get invested in this game and the first thing they get is a 18+ NSFW ad to the face xD
Most players just get the hell out of there instantly. This is one of the reasons why not many new players, that actually want to play the game, join the game.
I have a few friends that even quit because of the new stigma this gamd has nowadays. They find it very disgusting knowing that they actually just play a NSFW game in the end.
What if you'd find that in those parties there are GMs hanging out instead of getting bored reading chat reports where someone says ‘you play bad’ or keeping up with people using crafting and gathering plugins. Ads and participation in those places is active and spammed everywhere (and I remember a while back there was a huge event in NA for parties/ERPs). Everyone knows what goes on there and so do the GMs, probably playing and spending an evening away from the drama.
Another thing i read about and is supposed to be working quite well is to go into night clubs with all the "things" installed and take a screenshot and send it to the GM task force. They are forced to act because it is enough evidence that justifies actions. That is if you want to be really petty xD
That is true unfortunately. Still happens from timw to time apparently. Probably just using a free trial account that doesng mean anything. In the end only SE can solve the problem but they won't eo anything as long as it doesnt become a problem in Japan. The Stalker tool that recently popped up is supposed to be taken action against in 7.2. But i believe that only happens because it also affected the peace in Japan. And we don't even know what they plan on doing, because they didnt reveal anything.
The biggest mistake is to think that these things only happen in the West when on two occasions in a row for World First we saw the first team close it using plugins (and both times Japanese teams). The problem is not a problem if it is not taken into account is it? Even using a Free Trial account proves that you are using third party tools, so you created an account just to violate the ToS, and it doesn't guarantee that what you show in the screenshots is authentic and not manipulated by you. You have to prove that people are using plugins, not just a screenshot that proves you are using them.
Are your friends new to MMOs or internet culture in general?
ERP has always been around in every MMO I’ve played. And, well... we both know the 34th rule of the internet.
As for plogons:
You can’t prove that other people are modifying the game’s appearance. Unless, of course, you’re using the forbidden moon one. In which case, the only thing it proves is that you are modifying the game on your local device, meaning you’re the one breaking TOS and risking a ban.
So yeah, a lose-lose scenario.
Honestly, the best thing CS3 could do at this point is to introduce a Gooner Shard™.
A special in-game containment zone where all the gooners and goonettes can roam free and ERP to their hearts content without disturbing the rest of the 'tame' playerbase.
That ERP happens is not the problem. The problem is that it happens publicly in front of everyones noses. Keep it a secret and its fine. I hope that at some point SE lets the ban hammer down. They want to take measures against the stalker plogon, right? Wonder how they find the dude? They cant stop it. Also there will just be more malicious tools in the future with such lax safety measures, oh wait no safety measures AT ALL lmao.
I dunno if I had to choose between keeping the gooners or people who can't handle the idea of an 18+ space existing in the same game they play, I think I'll stick with the gooners.
There are still people doing the same things they've been doing since HW. There's just more people doing more things since the population has risen. I'm simply pointing out a lot of the things you seem to think have disappeared have shifted where they occur. A lot of stuff happens in discord now. That changed a lot for the community.
That is not the point. The point is that the proportion of these populations have changed and that the most prominent, front-facing parts of the community have changed. You are not seriously going to suggest that the % of the game's population that never raids and just ERPs the whole day has stayed the same?
No one is saying that raiding and opti are gone. Not that that matters because modern FF14 raid culture is raiding drama and talking about lolcows.
Like seriously, have you even seen anything coming close to threads like this at the TOP of the front page of /r/ffxiv in EW or DT? And with this kind of opti discourse?
https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comme...ide_34_update/
You barely even see this on /r/ffxivdiscussion now (unless black mage is mentioned or something)*. And The Balance is now flooded with shitposting.
Like I seriously don't understand why people like you keep trying to insist that HW culture was not MASSIVELY different. Even SB changed a lot from HW, which was when useless fanart started suffocating and destroying the main sub.
*though truth be told that's probably moreso because jobs are so braindead that there's nothing to talk about.
...Yeah, you sound like a prude who got too curious for your own good. This is a you problem. If you are being exposed to "big bulging packages of meat and two veg on my hermaphrodite big hootered bun Bois" and any other modbeast abominations trying to be invoked here, it's because you went out of your way to find it. YOU have to choose to join a modding syncshell. YOU have to join FFXIV Discord communities with NSFW gpose channels and then chose to view them. YOU have to be the one browsing modding websites to see some of the wild mods out there. YOU have to be following or searching certain terms to find this stuff.
You can literally just not look at or engage with it if you don't want to see it. I don't like most NSFW stuff, so I don't go into those communities and discord channels. Problem solved.
It's about the only good activity in this game these days, about all there is to it.
