I have 0 faith in the Viera and Hrothgar hat updates. It looks like alot of the resources are being put into the graphics update so I dont expect stuff like inventory, glamor plates, etc will be updated until 7.1 or 7.2 at the earliest.

This is the first and only time they've ever outright said they are actively in the process of rectifying the problem. In the past it has always just been noncommittal responses or outright rejections such as "we'll see what we can do", "that would be very difficult" or "there would be a lot of clipping". Here he actually says the process is underway which we already knew from patch data around 6.5, but seeing it confirmed in words is a big step until we start actually seeing results. The entire procedure of standardizing facial polygons between each race is part of this I reckon.

A new Eureka-Bozja has been confirmed since a few days after NA fanfest so this is just further confirmation of what we already knew. I just wouldn't expect big updates on it until post 7.0 because Bozja also wasn't announced at all until the 5.2-ish liveletter.

Sure, but the majority of people have to be actually unhappy enough with these things to unsub, rather than simply considering it a minor disappointment but not a dealbreaker, and then somehow communicate to the devs that those specific elements are why they are unsubbing.

Plus if things are genuinely low priority because they're difficult to achieve or a poor return on investment, then they would probably still be low priority if the game was losing money.

I guess a lot of people who don't unsub just don't do it because of their houses or their fc. We loose fc leadership already after 30 days. So people who own a fc can't even make a break for a month without punishment.

This is also true. But directly the formula for drastic change only happens when theres an emergency and sadly for the people that feel so unsatisfied with this game, theyre either A. The actual minority and B. Too complacent anf lazy to actually go through the first step of unsubbing for real.

35 days to be precise, and yes FC leaders can take breaks. They just can't (and shouldn't be) lengthy breaks so long as they intend to remain in control of the FC, because the FC needs a leader.

Additionally, having been on the resolving end of a situation where leadership got messy – the old leader came back and reclaimed position during a free login period, then vanished, and I was left as the highest ranked member left waiting to "catch" their expiring leadership role and pass it back to the correct leader – we would have been quite stuck if they were able to just hold that position in absence for longer. The timer is there for a sensible reason.

Same model different color scheme is still more than same box and look since it's first appearance. It would be like if cars still looked like a model T and only came in black. Even if I'm stuck with the Model T for looks I would hope that I could at least get it in a different color pattern. And Yes I know many MCH really would love an emperor's new lunchbox option where it is hidden from view cause of all sorts or reasons. Yet any time someone has asked for the ability to hide it in any shape or form we get told that it can't happen. So if that isn't on the table then could they at least change up how the damn thing looks like? As for at least then people could design an outfit that didn't have it clash all the time.

Different situation though, because it's meant to be one consistent (and recently invented) device that you're using in combination with an assortment of guns you've acquired from other sources.

To continue your car analogy, it's not that all cars ever manufactured look like Model T, rather that it is the equivalent of 1908 and you have a new and shiny Model T that you are using all the time.

But you ever heard of small fcs, for example, of rl friendgroups? If almost everyone is inactive, because of the current state of the game it's just a punishment for the leader. Or a risk that someone else inactive gets lead and you can't get it back without that person is forced to resub.

I know it's not designed to run small fcs. But in reality there are really a lot of those small fcs because not everyone likes the feeling of being in a big one.

So again, it depends on the situation, if it's good or bad.

The patch cycle is very frequent though. Developing things takes time. The only thing that conceivably make it faster is switching to the Unreal 5 engine or using AI for everything.

It takes more than 5 years for everyone to stop playing a high-population game they have played for 10 years, especially when it is regularly producing top-quality content such as extreme, savage, ultimate, criterion, items and story.

It would take at least 10 years for people to slowly leave and then for returners to stop returning and if SE keeps creating top-quality content like this then many of them will probably just return anyway.

Currently there still isn't really a good amount of statistical evidence of this in the first place.

Even if it's supposed to be something fairly recent invention wise I doubt every user is going to keep it looking or even want to keep it looking as fresh off the assembly line the day they got it. Someone will have put stickers on it or painted some graffiti on it. Maybe it has some scuff marks. Just like with a car a person might want to change out the hubcaps their car came with; with something else that fits their style. Slap on a "I'm a proud parent of an honor student" bumper sticker equivalent. Or hot rod flames down the sides. You know for that person who loves Hades soul fragment purple. Or you know maybe Inventingway somehow got a hold of it and slapped on some LED lights on the outside.

Sure, but actual customisation requires you to really own one single item, whereas this is a combination of two things: by lore, a single item, and by the way the game functions, identical copies of the item attached to every weapon.

To be able to customise it, they would have to totally rearrange how their system handles the equipment.

Me if I'm in a bad party and suddenly I'm the tank on bard who only has 2nd wind. Heck it's why I use them even in high level dungeons in hopes that the other dps who has a raise or if the boss is low enough in Hp we can still eek out a win or recover. Like my last run of Malikah's Well where the war and me again on bard duoed the final boss with 20% hp left on it. Cause the healer died to too many vuln stacks and not really knowing the fight. The other dps was melee who also didn't really know the fight or how to use their own healing tools. Or ending having a healer who is struggling. And no I'm not including anything under Halatali as that's probably the 1st dungeon where you could run into some problems with trash pulls. I'm also not saying that is a normal thing or what you and I would consider as the average player should be struggling with even Halatali or anything below Dusk Vigil when it comes to healing in low level stuff.

Which I understand and probably why they have repeatedly said hiding them or removing them is a no can do. Why I am in the could they at least change in color camp. I'm willing to accept that at least how they currently are the devs probably unable to give us an option to remove or hide them. I as I have said just want them to stop looking the same way they always have is all. I doubt I'm the only one who would also settle for what could be seen as a compromise if the box could match the gun in color scheme at least.

By 2 weeks? A month? It's not really a major difference. I take their idea to shorten it as "shorten the patch cycle to happen once a month or once a week", which as I explained, is not how developing games works (at least at game companies that haven't replaced everyone with AI and SE is notoriously slow at adapting to new technology if you look at 1.0).

It was wrong from the dev's to release unfinished races in the first place, in my opinion. Or at least wrong not to prioritise them to fix this soon. Aura also have special head features and unique hair that needed adjustment. But they could wear and use everything normally when they came with Heavensward.

Stormblood was the last expansion where we got a really full package. MSQ, huge Eureka with relic weapon and armour(!) and Baldesions arsenal, heaven on high, trial series, Doman enclave, raids, and so on.

But it slowly became less and less stuff and it began before Corona.

Just a little thing..., but for example we didn't get a single new looped dance since SHBs dwarf beasttribe. On the other side rp venues exploded and people used dance mods. There are a lot of videos on YT with dancing FFXIV characters. It's clear that people want some more dances. But they decided to release 0 ones in over 2 years.

Long story short. I really love this game but the last 2 years hurt a lot. MSQ was fine. The rest felt unfinished or like 'not the best idea'.

I really hope that DT can do better. But when I see Yoshi's answers... I struggle. Maybe I am pessimistic but all I read is: No, no, no, later, later, later,...

(Dear Yoshi P., please remember what you said in the past about an MMO would be like ruling a country. And think of all your already existing long time players. Don't focus too much on bringing more people to the country.)

A month makes a difference. Trust me.

Because of this long patch cycles we get a whole major patch less in 1 year. It's of course a huge difference.

In the regular cycle DT would have been released already. Instead we have to wait for about half a year.

100% But I do believe he had a point if the content were repeatable and longer lasting then it wouldn't be that much of an issue. The problem is that its neither. It takes forever and its not fun to repeat.

Personally to me this comes from how easy it is. If we're just going to faceroll through it over and over there isn't much of a point doing it multiple times. So it either needs to be more challenging so that the thrill of danger makes it worth playing again or it needs to be more varied and dynamic so that the same things don't happen again and again.

Think about games people like playing over and over. Even something like the battle royale crap that is taking over the gaming industry. For example in COD the map is always the same... What keeps you going back in? The thrill of danger, the knowledge that if you're not careful you may not make it. That turns anything you do into something more interesting automatically and it makes you keep wanting to try it again.

So likewise content should be wipeable. This is what made the Orbonne Monastery so good. It wasn't so hard people couldn't beat it.. of course they could, but it wasn't so easy it was practically given to you. People COULD wipe, alliances COULD disband, people COULD quit. And at the end of the day that keeps things spicy. why? because then finishing the content feels rewarding, like you worked for it.

This is the same logic behind why things ultimately feel better when you work for them instead of being given everything. You're not going to appreciate things when they are just given to you, there is no sense of accomplishment. since content in this game is so easy now and equally as static as always the only time worth running something in normal mode is the first time.

I really love the Nier Raids, but they are different in general because it's a crossover. So they are kinda outstanding in all things. (mechanics, music, visuals, glamour)

I also think that the Stormblood alliance raids are the best. Hard, but not to hard. Always happy when I get them in roulette!

The new alliance raids 'look' amazing, have some really good music and they are not bad. But somehow... it's less fun to repeat them.

Maybe they should ask Larian for a larger crossover with Baldurs Gate 3. Shadowhearts and Astarions hair, some glamour, an owlbearmount..., orchestrion rolls, and stuff.
I think it could be great. :)

Well that's exactly the problem. When you multiply 5 major patches by 1 month that's exactly what you get. 5 Months lost. So we do have a point. Did you know you could be about a week out from buying dawntrail? But no. Look forward to it, exactly 5 to 6 months from now.

You misunderstand me, I meant the difference not the current 2 weeks longer thing. In fact I think people forget how quickly anyone finishes a patch cycle's content even back in the supposed "glory" when we had shorter periods.

Now Im not saying that them prolonging more and more leads to a good thing for the players. I think its ridiculous if it ever becomes half a year between patches but the whole 2 week thing is literally nothing and inoffensive in the current gaming space. There is so much shit coming around and HAS been around that I hope the future of MMOs people will start to realize that tying yourself to one game is extremely bad for both sides. Actually I take that back, its not extremely bad but pathetic and sad if the only thing that keeps you awake is just one game. Also I assume most of us are grown adults, time dilation is a real thing the more the years go by the faster it feels time goes by, and I dont think the current patch cycle is as differential as people make it out to be.

It takes 5 minutes for people to leave and the state of the game rn is making ppl leave/unsub.
As for "quality content" I have to seriously ask if you've been participating in the resent content post 6.2.

P3s, p7s, p10s are all examples of current savages that are not quality they are poorly designed and unenjoyable with ott body checks.
As for ex's I could name yet another example. Zodiark. Rubicante zeromus have all been failures with nonreal skills level.
Criterion is nit being done and the savage weapon augment is tone deff.
Ultimate- omega had a bug mid way into the fight that literally was killing random players due to agro
Story has been exceptionally poor post endwalker 6.0

This sounds like a bunch of treading back and excuses because you didn't do the math and now you're trying to climb out of a hole. But okay. And no, the previous content cycle was slow, it was never glory days but it was bearable.

It doesn't make sense to pay for a sub when you get 1 week of content every 4 months, but it's not like I want to let go of my house in my server either. There's millions invested in it and its too much of a hassle to get one again.

Just because you're old and time is going fast for you or you have other things to do is not defensible for the people who actually want content to play in a game they pay for. The good news is that if its all going too fast for you, you can skip whatever you don't find appealing. But for us its not like we can play what isn't there....

People who realize that mitigation and healing OGCDs aren't really available until after lvl 50. Combined with the fact you can get literal sprouts in there who have level 10 white equipment at lvl 40, that almost might not even have gear optimized for their role (Tanks with dps gear or worse caster gear)

But please, be more crass for absolutely no reason. You are simply showing your ignorance if you don't use a resource with a low CD that can be bought on the MB for pennies.

The largest issue here is that we didn’t go from 3 months to 3.5 or even 4 months but to 4.5 months.
As such, they snuck in a 1.5 month gap between patches.

The original timeline was 3 months and 3.5 months when it went over a holiday or was larger content. They told us that they needed to go 4 months but in all actuality, they raised it to 4.5 without telling us and reducing the content we got in the patches.

Having 9 months since 6.5 to 7.0 is the longest we have ever gone in a content drought. I really hope they can explain why the gaps are so large and the 6.x content delivered was so thin but I doubt it.

If I had to guess what is going on, they probably bit off more than they can chew with essentially relaunching the game with 7.0, starting a multi-expansion graphics overhaul (let’s be real, it’s going to take years to update everything), and making all MSQ dungeons in the game trust compatible as they had to remake all of them.

I really hope DT will be so good that we will forget all about this 7 months from now… I really hope…

There's none. There wasn't any before. There won't be any in the future.

The exploratory zones in 7.0 will be as boring and uninteresting as people used to complain about Eureka and Bojza.

The combat will still be as boring and janky as people complained back in ShB and before

Final Fantasy XIV is claimed to be in maintance mode as soon as its first release.

The dev never listen and they will never be. Every discussion here is for the entertainment for community reps during their lunch break

There's absolutely no reason to remain subbed. Anyone who keeps subbing and leaving feedback despite knowing thsese is in deep copium.

That's also somewhat my concern. Even if I give Dawntrail the biggest benefit of the doubt and assume that it's going to fix my major grievances with the game...if they bit off more than they could chew with the graphics overhaul is it going to be done with 7.0 or will they have to gradually update everything like they did with Trust dungeons? What is the patch cycle going to look like? Are we looking at 5 months between patches? 5.5 months?
