Legendary. Can't wait for it to air, pretty sure my tomestone can stream it.
Anjou,
Players on this forum know that I have posted about someone on my server using blockades to the detriment of the person living above them, literally into their plot though. I'm not unsympathetic to a degree to your plight- but I'd like to propose a solution that will benefit everyone in the spirit of the holidays. If you had the gil to simply leave, would you do so? Would another small do or will you only move for a medium?
Thank you for your kind words and concern.
I thought about that as well, simply handing them the gil to move with the best of intentions, and what if they stayed, and the issue dragged on? I can really only hope that for the sake of their reputation, and a want of some peace, they would honor their word and use the gil as intended.
I personally don't understand the situation. I log into this game to find a little quiet enjoyment in an otherwise hectic life. I could not fathom wanting to stay in a situation that makes me unhappy, when within the game at least, your world is under your control for the most part. Will there always be someone who goes out of their way to make others miserable? Absolutely, and that's not limited to just online experiences of course. Will people always get along with everyone? Of course not. Will people always agree with the tastes of others? Oh hell no, but this situation here is 100% resolvable.
The FC and the ward as a whole can place Anjou on ignore and stop paying attention to the negativity and more importantly, feeding it, or Anjou can leave the ward and hopefully go somewhere she/he/they finds aesthetically more pleasing, because lets be real, Anjou is not going to back down from this. Something, or someone has to give for this to stop.
As much as I disagree with Impia on a lot of other topics, I agree with them in this case
Do not reward Anjou for their behavior please, they will do this somewhere else, people like that are just here to ruin it for everyone and will find another excuse to do the same in a different place, maybe it'll be a tree this time that's in their view, or a deck that they wont be happy with, they will find something I promise you.
The entire ward should just ignore them at this point, but do not reward them please, people like that should be ignored, not encouraged with what is basically free gil.
It's definitely not my intention to reward them. I was thinking more along the lines of brightening everyone's holiday season. Peace on Eorzea, goodwill towards Miqo'te, kind of. ;)
My hope is to help everyone involved find a solution. Put a little joy in the lives of others, especially since this seems to affect so many players.
Posts asking OP to decide whether they've been slapping people and harassing people in shout as a joke and they're just being misunderstood or if they're for realsies and behaving in an extremely toxic and aggressive manner or if EVERYONE who's commented and shared screenshots are just DIRTY LIARS and OP is a victim of conspiracy seem to be disappearing left and right?
WHAT'S HAPPENING???
Which is a nice thought but even if Anjou accepted the gil and was able to move, what about the new neighbors who would then be subjected to Anjou's whims? Problems rarely get solved by shuffling them to a new location.
I visited the ward again earlier in the week. The change is very noticeable. This is the view from the rock in OP's screenshot that is not even part of their plot.

You're not going to see that level of support for someone if they're the problem instead of the target of harassment.
Here is the best view I could get from the OP's actual plot while standing on the ground. Just about anywhere else and the fence along with their other outdoor decorations almost completely block the view of anything outside of their plot.
https://lds-img.finalfantasyxiv.com/...a9cb81cd9b.png
Considering OP is looking for a view of the ocean and Lighthouse, and they prefer to leave their plot to get it, all they need to do is go up the stairs next to their plot then a short distance up the path to the nearby hot springs. There's a small greenspace with another rock to sit on that offers this view:
https://lds-img.finalfantasyxiv.com/...6f4bbb0aca.png
They don't have to look at the house of the FC they're complaining about and they have a clear view of the Lighthouse.
It's also rather strange that other members of Anjou's FC haven't appeared to offer their version of events despite members of other FCs in the ward sharing what they've experienced.
Short Tempered, indeed. A sign that any acts of charity will be wasted in the long run.
I'm pretty confused, myself. I worked hard on that first one. I even went to Wikipedia to look up the name of the real Producer of Neighbourhood Wars! All that effort, gone!
There are a couple of possibilities in the Code of Conduct, I suppose:
* Taking any other actions that are deemed inappropriate by Square Enix in our sole discretion. (Pretty broad, so OK, I guess)
* Posting content with the intention of criticizing either Square Enix staff or specific individuals. (I mean, this whole thread should be locked if that's the reasoning, but... sure)
* Posting aimed to create a negative impact on the community or its members. (Again, kind of a "That's the whole thread" sort of thing)
* Use of inappropriate or aggressive language. (Same again)
* Posting that constitutes discrimination against another forum member or group (also including forming groups for the purpose of discrimination), insults, slander, libel, harassment of a group or individual. (And again)
So maybe the only real issue is that there's one person hammering the "report" button on things they don't like being said, and the rest of us aren't.
Thanks for all of that info, Jojoya. Wow, that is a lot to take in. There is a veritable sea of gingerbread houses, namazu and HoH's.
This is an FC, huh? I wasn't sure it was, perhaps OP is the only member (alts in it maybe?)? Has anyone spoken to the other members?
That location is close to the area my son has his small:

There are many places to go where you can sit and enjoy a lovely view of the lighthouse.. right next to the spot where his house sits is a great little place:

I wish Anjou would try to make peace with her ward-mates and perhaps think about squashing all of this. I do worry that asking her to move would probably create a whole new set of issues and I certainly don't want that happen. :(
Other people in that ward have spoken up but their posts have been mysteriously disappeared. Probably because OP didn't like that their narrative was being challenged so reported it.
Some of her guestbook entries in other FC houses were just as rude. One where they said they didn't like the gingerbread house but at least it didn't have towers.
When does it end Diane?
I don't agree with this. It's very, very easy for communities to gang up on what they perceive to be an amusing, easy and/ or "acceptable" target if they're so inclined. Never underestimate the power of cliques and playground mentalities, they can and do form pretty much everywhere.
Which isn't to say OP has handled this well at all or hasn't instigated the backlash for the most part, but I'm hesitant to heap all of the blame on them for reacting to what was an obvious goad. No one sticks up HoH towers around their plot like that unless they're getting some kind of kick out of being as obnoxious and obstructive as possible to their neighbours - especially if they've gone to the trouble of floating them - and I'm not taking it at face value that they're "lovely" when people like that frequently make a habit of riling other people up then feigning ignorance when other parties get involved. I'm not excusing the tantrums, but I get the frustration and it feels like an "ESH" moment here over one side being solely at fault.
I disagree. There are so many great builds that can use HoH towers. Why limit people's creativity? Fortresses, castles, or maybe a free company wants to set up a climbing competition. No one has the right to tell anyone how they decorate their yard besides SE. Let people go wild and use their imaginations. I visited several houses in the neighborhood. It was lively, active, and the people were friendly. I doubt they're going out of their way to be yelled at, slapped, and harassed by their neighbor. If the OP wants a better view, bid on a better plot.
I wouldn't say there's a whole lot of creativity going on in the picture the OP offered, it looks like smacking down as many as they can like people do Namazu Effigies to be as loud as possible.
Other people don't have any power to stop them, no, but there's also nothing to prevent them from complaining about it or the basic reality that it makes you look like an ass for doing so.
You've literally already conceded it's poor behaviour in your first post here, so go argue with your reflection if you're spoiling for yet another pointless fight.
What that basically sounds like to me is you can't handle negative feedback about the game reaching the eyes and ears at Square Enix, because you think the game is perfect and that there's nothing wrong with the game, and you support the use of 3rd party tools because "their house, their decorations" is such a believable excuse. You should have long since been banned or terminated for the harrassing comments you've made here. But since you haven't, I'm now going to summon all 7 dragon balls, all 7 chaos emeralds, and every single infinity stone, so that I can become a literal flying god and vaporize you with my hand lasers, and it's going to sound like this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BA1dV3evpxM
Wake up. 3rd party tools exist. Acting like they don't by trying to excuse it away isn't going to do anything except make you guilty by association for trying to protect a clear and obvious abuse of them. The best thing you can do is either support the post so that it actually reaches the devs so they can do something about it, ideally what I've requested in the title of the post, or leave well enough alone.
What really sends me about his complaints of third party tools (despite us watching our neighbours place these items without tools), is if you check his character profile it has his Mare and FFLogs codes in it as well as other third party tool codes I don't recognize.
Dude's a hypocrite backwards and forwards.
Following this for a while over screenshots and what not on my favourite discord server, i actually only have one question, whats your end goal here. Cuz this reminds me of that guy that wrote to himself over three posts expecting answers from square and y-man himself.
There's no way square will tell someone to take down their deco because another player or a few don't like it.
Edit: (cuz im tired i forgor, lemme be) and for sure are they never gonna limit any furniture anymore, the last time they did was with the primal furniture stuff in hw Iirc.
Not trying to poke fun, i just fail to see why this is still a debate.
I appreciate you not immediately resorting to harrassment like the rest of them. My major end goal is to just see my feedback about it reach Square Enix. The only reason for this FC to put the towers up like that to begin with is to be narcissistic and draw attention to themselves. The fact that they abused 3rd party tools to accomplish that malicious goal is the only reason I brought it up. I've said before that if the towers were on the ground, as the intended placement location by the devs, I'd have no reason to have made the post to begin with, because they wouldn't be blocking anything. They may have brought the attention they wanted to themselves, but they would have done so in a way that is not so disruptive to those around them. Instead, they have made a case not only for the item to be revisited by Square Enix, but also for attention to be drawn to non-combat related abuse of 3rd party tools. They can feign ignorance all they want, but actions speak louder than words, and having multiple towers being elevated like that by a single FC was definitely disruptive to one or more of the other FCs in the ward. So what if their nearest neighbors don't find it weird or obnoxious? The point is that anyone like myself that respects those around them when placing our decorations are going to see that and think "Who does that? Who is that starved for attention?"
I would love to come to some kind of solution so that this can be put behind us, but that can't happen as long as people are focused on this mostly one-sided drama and not the issues that were made in the original post. Making excuses like "their decorations, their choice" only generates more distaste for the fact that only Square Enix is in a position to do something significant about it. Maybe I could have handled most of it better, but I think the end result would have been the same.
gm could log in and issue warning about these artificially affected outdoor furniture items, maybe even move them down, if you claim the items use illegal coordinates.
but until it happens, GMs either not care or are not allowed to care or intervene.
I wonder if you made a giant burning swastika from Authentic Summer Bonfire outdoor furniture on your house plot, if the same people would jump in to defend you with their own "their decorations, their choice" argument.
Not saying you should do it, but some refuse to see the forest because of the trees.
From SE's prohibited activities page:
■Harassment
"Harassment" is speech and/or behavior that inflicts deep emotional distress on another person. It is an extremely serious violation. Where Square Enix determines that harassment has occurred, a penalty equal to or higher than a "Temporary Service Account Suspension" may be imposed.
It is prohibited to do this anywhere an expression can be made, such as chat (including Quick Chat in PvP content, macros, and emotes), markers, comments, or titles. It is also a violation in cases where a player character name involves a term that could be considered harassment in any way. Additionally, when harassment involves a group of players, all corresponding players will be subject to penalties.
Below is a non-exhaustive list of behavior that could constitute harassment in Final Fantasy XIV:
・Discriminatory expressions based on race/nationality/thinking/gender/sexual orientation/gender identity
・Discriminatory expressions about a state/religion/occupation/organization, etc.
What you are describing would constitute a place "where expression can be made" and would be an altogether different issue than a bunch of floated towers.
The thing is, which might sound a little hurtful, i don't believe they did what they do for the reasons one might think.
Much like a similar topic regarding housing, people do things the way they do because others are not part of the equation.
I am not native English speaking so i might Phrase this weirdly but they maybe probably just dont care about others at all, i too don't play and do the things i do ingame to appeal to others.
I will raid and kick people i think are not living up to expectations, not because i wanna hurt them but because i value my time.
I do the things i do with my houses because they are mine, and dont care what others think is etiquette or the right thing. In the flipside, i hate the gingerbread housing walls, but as long as i don't have to use them, my entire neighborhoods can be filled with them idc.
What I'm trying to say is, your feelings are most likely not even considered by them with what they do. Or atleast, were because if i was in their position i would've probably also kept it up or made it worse for the "lulz".
And if for some reason, square would actually cut the tower amount down to one or two per plot, you can be sure their placed stuff is grandfathered and they will keep it as it is for even more lulz.
If your goal was to see that your feedback reaches SE, I'm afraid you came to the wrong place. We've had evidence that they don't pay attention to the EN forums (don't know about the JP forums) thanks to some widely debated topics in the past that SE would turn around and say aren't problems for EN players.
Anyway, if you want your feedback to get to SE try using the Support Desk Suggestion tool. You're not going to get any acknowledgement that your suggestion was received but it will be seen by someone employed by SE.
Considering how SE pretty much ignored the complaints about the Shirogane Castle Walls when those were introduced in Stormblood (they block views worse than multiple HoH towers do), I highly doubt they're going to implement any changes just because furnishings might block another plot owner's view. You're better off getting a plot where no one else can block your view regardless of what furnishings are used.
I mean...
...you kind of...
...seem to be using your posts...
...to get in a bunch of digs...
...about your neighbours...
...instead of just making what could otherwise be a reasonable request.
Seriously, this post of yours I'm quoting is about 50% insults FROM you AT your neighbours.
If your "main aim" was just to ask for HoH towers to be limited in number, you could just ask for that rather than going into how your neighbours are - as claimed by you in the quoted post - ignorance-feigning, obnoxious, disruptive, malicious, attention-starved narcissists.
You crammed all those insults into ONE POST.
I mean... c'mon.
One thing we can agree on. Why'd you delete it?
