The State of Endwalker: A 2 year Recap.

The guy doesn't even understand that a very popular at the time podcast that had over thousands of listeners and regularly 500 people in their chat said the same things he said about the game and Endwalker back during the middle of Stormblood. That the five hosts pretty much all agreed that the formula was too predictable, the content wasn't fun or challenging, and that the devs needed to innovate.

They can do so much better, and I hope that someday in the distant future after DT has had it's predictable outcome that a return to form in XIV finally happens.

First things first they need to figure out how to make content and gameplay that doesn't turn people off after a few hours though. Until that happens there's no game here, only a visual novel akin to the FFXIV AU High School manga.

I don't get how you can enjoy ff16 but not ff14 when there stories and questing are structured exactly the same with how they tell the stories. The only difference is ff16 has more mature scenes and shows off character deaths in better ways. I don't have problems with your post or you in general but it's also hard to take your words seriously when you keep going back on your word of quitting for good and can't see how very similar ff16 is to ff14. FF16 doesn't even feel like a rpg it plays like god of war and devil may cry the only rpg elements it really has is it's questing and story structure.

Also ironic this guy calls XIV cringe when XVI has "hello fellow kids!" levels of "maturity" and the last half is ARR meets Naruto's final arc.

The more mature scenes is almost like a early teen swearing for the first time or watching there first adult film or trying to write there first erotic novel. FF16 is so much like ff14 down to even how the story and sidequest works but apparently ff14 is "too cringe". I agree that the scions at this point are annoying and would like new characters to join our adventures but i can't dismiss the fact the ff16 plays just like ff14 but with a different combat. If ff14 is "cringe" ff16 has cringe levels of mature scenes with how they play out. I can tell they weren't use to writing mature scenes and it showed considering it was the first mainline game in the series with a mature rating.

Are we playing the same games here? I could have sworn that I’ve been having fun with FFXIV up to this point. I don’t see these faults that everyone else sees, and I’m a Legacy player (I’ve been subscribed to the game since 1.0 early access on September 20, 2010). Some of the content can be flawed by anyone’s standards, but I take no beef for this game. I love the Endwalker post-expansion story as I’m eager to see what happens to the 13th and the Flood of Darkness. If you are going to cherry-pick at FFXIV, you haven’t been invested in the game as long as I have.

Now I’m also a FFXI veteran, and I openly criticize that game and make fun of it, even though I sometimes go back to play it every now and then. To make fun of it, there’s no ambient shadows in the game; the trees don’t even have shadows! But I’ll be damned that the game still is fun and challenging despite how it looks.

I'm having fun so far as well, but the lack of attention the new player experience has isn't very good for the longevity of the product, considering Dawntrail might be yet again a big starting point for many.

Most of my concerns are from a new player perspective, it's gonna be very different from a legacy player's. I'm having to go through hundreds of hours of story content which SE has barely done any effort to revitalize outside of new Última and DS. But the time new players make it to Dawntrail they will run into the same issues I'll run into when I reach EW. I don't believe having the finale of a 10 year saga be over before the cinematic climax to be very good for new players, nor it is the long queues for off-Msq content like Rathalos, Nier Raids or Omega. And don't get me started on the people who can't complete the Bozja storyline...

Wonder why SE doesn't use Gaia more often despite her being a fan favorite and being part of Normal difficulty content?

For me it's the lips. In any other Nomura game they would be hot, in FXIV it looks like she had bad botox.
It speaks a lot about her design that me and many others still fine her visually appealing, but if Nomura FOR ONCE tried to go with the flow and take away the belts, the hammer and reduce the lips to XIV size she wouldn't look so damn uncanny.

I do wish he would tone down the belts and have characters wear something normal for once instead of looking like they came out of a hot topic catalogue.

Only a masochist would enjoy this being done to them.

There is no real "normal" in a fantasy setting. Especially final fantasy when we have folks like Kefka and Kuja.

They wear cloth based clothing which is pretty normal compared to dresses made up entirely of belts like they got the outfit from a goth store. Kefka and Kuja outfits i feel fit more with a fantasy/medieval setting especially since kefka fits the stereotypical court jester. I feel goth clothing made up entirely of belts to me doesn't fit with fantasy.

Last I checked goth can look goth despite any Era of clothing. Gaia has one belt iirc. Nothing about what she wears looks off.

Also how can you say literally anything doesn't fit fantasy. It's fantasy therefore quite literally anything works lol

I just find gaia outfit to fit more steampunk type but don't know how kefka and kuja doesn't fit the fantasy/medieval type and there outfits are considered more ridiculous. Kefka is literally a court jester but his outfit is seen as ridiculous and not fitting to a fantasy or the times he was suppose to represent.

for me that only started 2 year ago.have not seen too much change. but i have been loving every bit of it. one of the good thing about playing a mmo later on , you don't get the disappointment of change , you see the state of play it is now
