You mean just like 90% of those people defending the content and how amazing it is ?
Funny how that works, when it fits your narrative it's okay though

He was partially playing on a test section of the stream who cares..... like if that's what you have beef with then jeez. Also to be fair with that image he was confused with, the design doesn't favour well to a direction at first glance. I watch every live letter and this one felt no different to others honestly. Its a patch note discussion almost...how many games even give this level of transparency to the community and that's not me defending anything here. Go see what CoD does to its massive community or other MMOs...they don't even do this in the first place.
Same goes for those hating the game.
You yourself admit you've barely done any actual game content and just hang out in venues or your house while in discord.
There are quite a few other ardent game haters who clearly don't do any content either. It doesn't really matter though, because there are lots of people who have done all the content who are unhappy, along with those who have and are happy.
It's literally all walks are on both sides.
Personally don't really like big grinds, at least especially due to the game being linear progression, and don't really feel there is a lot of content missing just some less ideal initial loop structures.. also feeling a lot of players are losing the mysticism due to age with game and that roleplay mysticism has been one of FFXIV's challenges. Really good at consistent structure and imo I appreciate a lot more of the friendly systems mechanically, like rolling mountain is done well here in comparison to say WoW..
I'm thinking that's compounding harder than normal right now. Few ideas on what to do spread into other threads but just my quick imo. As off-putting as some might find it taking breaks has made a lot of that no issue for me, but I could imagine a lot of the things I like being paired with adjustments without it being ruined. So.. not the only thing that can be said ;).
Since today, please get on it!
Nah you don't understand - if you make a vague comment comparing 1 thing to another e.g.,
Then it indicates that your sole argument is XIV good, WoW bad. Honestly, at this point some people aren't even reading what they write before posting.Quote:
like rolling mountain is done well here in comparison to say WoW..
[Edit] - If it isn't clear, I am making reference to their perception of what Shougun was saying and how woefully detracted from reality it is.
.... you say one thing is good, rolling mountain for example, over a other, and that's what you get out of it? "WoW bad, FFXIV good"?
Some awful assuming you got there. Write my posts for me. Wow..
I'm one of the few during the fever dream of FFXIV relaunch that pointed out good things WoW did/does (as I still do).
Well, I was being sarcastic with respect to it.
What they've done is effectively no different from when some posters say "Because you make 1 criticism of XIV, you must therefore hate the entire product" (I mean there are levels to it) - But hey, their perception was not as clever as they thought it was. Just don't know why they were so eager to strip any nuance from your post.
Honestly, I barely even want to write my own posts half of the time - Let alone go beyond that :p
Ah lol. Well I can agree it's frustrating and I have seen what you say, just don't return the favor onto me lol.
I don't mind the criticism nor that some people don't find taking a break as acceptable, that's fine, I never stop people from wanting more. Though maybe point out if what is being asked is really what they are asking. Like, do you mean quantity? Sounds like a quality argument. Etc.
Feedback good, my one mantra if I had one in the forums.
WoW has some things I love and wish FFXIV witnessed. I also like refencing other games like GW2 for amazing movement in mounts or way better FATEs.
Sorry for being a bit sharp but I was like... man.. you have no idea how much I was pushed against by others when I say WoW still has good ideas and then to get called a WoW hater and FFXIV fan boy, essentially, I was like... jackiechan-what the hell.jpg.
I think its a bit of both really. Its always fair to question the game, but I think some do need to also accept that not every expansion/patch/content is gonna be for them. Its the just the nature of live service games that tailored content is impossible. Sometimes burnout happens too, and taking a break is never a bad thing.
Plus there is complaining in a constructive manner, and then there is talking about the game as if the end is neigh and anyone who dares not accept that criticism is a blind sheep on copium. Not having the same negative feelings does not mean we think Yoshi-P is our BFF in shining Paladin gear, and outside of a troll or two I do not think think anyone is saying teh game is perfect and should never have any criticism.
Yess. My thing is the relic weapon grind. So I waited patiently for a year until "my" patch arrived and then I got... nothing?
Well a tomestone dump. Don't get me wrong, I am totally fine with grinding tomestones, but 1500 ist not grinding, that's just 3/4 of the amount I already had with me.
Shameful. Yoshida San has granted you a path to enjoyment. (scoff) And yet you stray from it at every opportunity! You afk. You sit on the forums complaining. Shameful.
Wow, you don't see someone waking up every day
Love how people screeched about how Yoshi P personally micromanages and oversees every little detail when I said he probably is far more hands off than before two years ago. Guess everyone else takes 2 years to notice basic patterns!!!!
Wait, do people honestly think Yoshi P is overseeing every little detail like weapons that won a fan contest? lol
Why not? It’s his game, shouldn’t he want to know what goes in the game before it does? Is that why we still have this?
Im not saying he should be the one to fix it but it cant take long to look at something and tell his employees to not release in that state does it?
If he can’t chew that much maybe he shouldn’t overfill his plate with all the other games.
Bruh if you don't know why people think that then just take the L and move on.
If you actually care watch noclip. He was purportedly a micromanager for a while, and people just stuck with that image of him despite increasingly many instances of him not knowing how the game works anymore or how his personal wishes got overriden just months after.
The change is gradual when you're talking about a 10 year old game but if you go back to one of the very first live letters the difference is night and day. Nowadays he's probably literally unaware of half this game's problems when that's just not true during ARR.
Agreed with the overall sentiment. I think most people realize that the game isn't perfect, and those that put Yoshi P on a pedestal really need to not. He's human, he has his own ideas, and own processes that he has to go through. He's not simultaneously our best friend and head dev of the game.
That said, I like the game a lot, and when I stop liking it, I'll stop paying for it. It really shouldn't be more complicated than that. Sure, voice your issues, that's awesome, but at some point, when all you have left are memes and insults, move on.
Yes but you see there are many obvious in your face kind of problems for months if not years, and you’re telling me he can’t possibly oversee that? After months? Years of complaints?
Then what IS his job?
It is impossible that he can’t see things after all this time unless he doesn’t care to see them.
Don’t get me wrong I love the game, Im still having fun otherwise I wouldn’t be here still paying for it but Im not going to completely simp over it when let’s be honest, there are things that need fixing since a long time and they aren’t getting fixed and Im not sure how long I can keep excusing it with “he’s busy with other games” nor should that be an excuse.
Hrothgar are behind like hell. Viera aren’t getting hats for YEARS when modders release those hats in practically a day after the hats are in game, I don’t know how to excuse that nor should that be excused.
I mean he's not busy with other games really, 16 is done now it went gold and beforehand he was a producer...not a director so he was probably quite hands off with it cause he picked the team he believes in to get the job done. Im not going to deny the beast races are behind and should be up to snuff now but when they have X amount of resources to use they are choosing to work on things that will bring in more players basically. Why spend all this time on a visual update or QoL to all the base game etc...simple increase the threshold of newcomers into the game. Oh the game looks better that's more people (as fickle people are on visuals) oh I heard ARR-SB has been streamlined or I can get through the story mostly with AI blah blah I get what they have done. If fanfest comes and they announce a same old same old...then we will be in more of the same boat but till July in this instance il remain neutral to it all.

Darnit. If anyone knows how to make the actual gif show that would be awesome.
I generally use tenor for linking gifs, they seem to work well: (just put the img tags around it)

Of course he's going to be a micromanager back then. He got asked to save a dumpster fire that's somehow floating along in a lava flow in a short period of time and then make sure it's a success. It probably was part of why we had that unexpected lul between 3.0 and 3.1. It'd of been like if XI devs had to put out all of the base game and RotZ all at the same time. Then release it to NA the next year. You're going to want to stick the landing. I'm surprised they managed a 3/3.5 month release schedule for as long as they did.
