I really want a manspread for Mei. I was disappointed to see I just got a "I will be meek and subservient to my Christian husband" pose instead. The other one is good, tho.
not only sitting poses... the poses for drawn weapons too pls
and also make it individually for each job

gender obsessed ppl whining on the forum for extra workload, calling anyone who does not agree some sort of -ist
Honestly, I wish this was true for both sitting, idle animations, and bstance/vpost. I'd honestly like to see where you could pick all the emotes for any Race for your character, though I guess there's probably some weird clipping issues and such.
I love the female DRK pose for example (sword stabbed into the ground) vs the male one (sword over the shoulder), but you can't pick between them. And most expressions the different Races do differently. Like I somewhat hate the Lala "excited" or whatever pose after dungeons, but I like some other Races. Or - novel idea - let us pick our victory pose just like we can pick our portrait.
I dunno, there's a lot of stuff like that I'd like to see. No idea if it's possible or not, though. I'm happy with what we have, but I suppose it's only natural to ask for more. I'm just also content not getting it. :)
All for this. Honestly the idea that animations are baked into the character in an RPG is just silly from the start. We can edit our appearances, why not our personalities and mannerisms?
This is the point. We don't really have the option to make our characters behave appropriately. What is being requested is a fix for that. It could include adding/removing cposes to the list. I don't know exactly what is easy or not for the devs, but swapping the entire emote list for a given character type seems to not require much work outside of perhaps slight resizing of emotes to fit characters. At the very least it would be much better to choose which emote/idle poses your character has than for them to be arbitrarily tied to how they look.
Absolutely. The emotes and the limitations that come with them now aren't proper, realistic, or really anything more than stereotypical at best. They don't even make sense within the lore of the game. Xaela are warriors aren't they?
Exactly.Quote:
There's nothing wrong with asking for more diversity in presentation for characters. This stuff should not be race or gender locked because it feels like turning personality into a racial trait, because each race and gender combo has a completely different feel to it than what you may be working with. I'm not bothered by the femra run, but I know some people would want it more feminine like female middies. Plenty of people like how cutesy femra are, but I know I would sure prefer the female highlander or roegadyn emotes.
So how about instead of trying to make everyone as miserable as you are by being kept from what they want, you ask for hats on viera? It just seems like you're making excuses if I'm honest. No one can have what they want because you don't have what you want. The lack of appropriate emotes for some of my characters is exactly the same as the lack of hats for your (and my) viera.
This thread can only go well.
Here we go again, ffs I'm for more gender neutral stuff but not EVERYTHING has to be for both gender, preserve some uniqueness to each gender ffs.
The absolute aggressive narcissism in this thread...
"Can we have even MORE options for SITTING?"
"I'd rather have something unique to my gender... looks kinda ugly on a female anyways."
"THEN DON'T USE IT, YOU MISOGYNIST!"
Don't yall know by now? Many won't be satisfied til nothing is tied to a gender n the game is fully neutral. Wanting things to stay as they currently are n wanting some uniqueness is "cringe n sickening".
Wake up people
Why can't we all be bald, featureless grey puppets with all the same animations, gear and poses? That way nobody will feel left out of anything.
Personally, I'm pro gender neutrality in the scenario that we never lose options. I truly don't think it has to be an all or nothing scenario and XIV has shown us this time and again recently. Normal glamours and outfits are becoming increasingly gender neutral, BUT they're still maintaining the trend of creating two different "gendered" sets even if the items themselves can now be worn by anybody and the gender neutrality will not be extending to NPC attire as per YoshiP's comments a couple weeks ago. Many were concerned that begging for unisex glamours would lead SE to say "OK, sure!" and create one gender neutral design for everybody for every glamour in the game from now until infinity, but thus far there's no signs of this happening. I completely understand the anxiety over losing something in the process of gaining something. Thankfully all the Island sets still have a "masculine" and "feminine" design - as do the Salon sets and the upcoming Valentione event sets.
Like many I do not support race neutrality. I think every race should be different and maintain unique hairstyles, emotes, voices, etc. The game has received criticism from its playerbase for homogenization of jobs, and I feel pushing the trend of neutrality could lead player character designs in a similar direction. We don't all need the same everything, but sit poses that everybody can already use anyway? Umbrella poses? Who cares. Racial uniqueness is important in a way I feel gender uniqueness is not. For me, they don't overlap. It doesn't have to be all or nothing.
I just want my female miqo to get that amazing squat the males do. And for the people that think women manspreading is gross or whatever were you raised in the 1800s? I'm a woman irl and have always just worn pants and I'll manspread sometimes just because it's comfy and I know many women that do too. I'm not sure why people have this weird idea of how women are supposed to sit. If I was wearing a tiny skirt by all means I wouldn't be sitting in a way that shows the world my underpants, but when I'm wearing pants why wouldn't I want to sit in a way that's comfortable? It's almost like women are able to sit however the want and I would love my character to have that option too.
And if we want to talk removing gendered poses I would like that male dragoon please. No idea why the most traditional dragoon pose in the entirety of Final Fantasy is tied to male characters. And I'm sure a lot of people that play male characters would love to have our amazing DRK pose. I believe female characters also have the better SAM pose because males hold their sword wrong.
No one said you're trying to strip the female avatars of their femininity. Leave your strawmen in the shed.
And speaking of having a feeling this would come out, that is exactly how I felt when I read the patch notes, as I knew that before long, players such as yourself would be asking for more options despite the fact that they've just given you more, including all of the gender unlocks to a ton of glamour gear, which undoubtedly leads to posts like yours.
This isn't about having more options, this is about you thinking you have some sort of entitlement to having access to everything because you're a paying subscriber somehow grants you that privilege. I have news for you: it doesn't. Your time isn't any more valuable than mine, the next person, or the development team. You really need to let that sink in, and stop letting feelings of exclusion ruin your experience in the game. You've turned this into much more than my simple opinion where I said females manspreading is disgusting, and I still do. I'm not spouting that like it's a fact. But you're arguing as if I am.
For their own sake and comfort? Good lord, I think I am just going to stop right here. If you literally cannot enjoy the game because your feelings of entitlement lead to exclusivity ruining your experience, you might need to reflect on why you're playing the game in the first place.
Here. Let this image of my female Midlander spell out F-e-m-i-n-i-n-e for you.
https://i.imgur.com/NMaN6ag.jpg
Well yeah kind of like real life. What emotes in FF14 would be physically impossible to do for a given character? Surely a midlander could run like a miqote, and an aura could run like a midlander?
A desire for uniqueness is what's driving the demand for unlocked content. I'd rather see some variety in character mannerisms instead of everyone looking almost like robots following the same programming. Maybe my miqote is more shy than most and would benefit from more subdued animations. It would make my character different and fit the personality I came up with. How is asking for more variety anything but a request for uniqueness?Quote:
wanting some uniqueness
This definitely seems more like an "I want everything for my specific character" than wanting options for others. A lot of character types in this game have fewer option due to the way they're created or fitted, and usually there's a give and take, they might not have one thing or it might look terrible on them but they get to have something else others don't to make up for it.
It defintiely seems like people who are playing the more popular race/gender combinations are asking for more options just because they specifically want them, even though they already have the most options that are well fitted for their character.
If everyone has the exact same options it removes that give and take, certain character types just have things poorly fitted to them, have fewer options that look good, and the things that they had that were great for them, well they look as good or better on other characters. It removes the give and take of each type of character having something unique and special to that type in a way I can't get behind. Especially when changing your charcter costs real money or a couple hundred hour grind to make a new one, it feels terrible to get stranded on one that just straight up has less.
It's a request to get rid of the uniqueness we already have for uniqness you personally want. Roe emotes should stay roe emotes, same for every other race. Same for genders to. Thats a big part of what makes them unique. If I want male emotes I'll play a male character.
(Also where in the current game does everyone look like robots exactly?)
This isn't real life. It's a game with visions in place from people in a whole other country n culture. Yall need to understand this. I'd love to have a female version of Snows outfit but I'm not gonna waste my time hoping or asking for it as it's a male outfit. I can accept this and move on to the 100s of other things I can wear. Maybe I'm just old school
Once again, nobody here is asking for Viera stuff. This is about GENDER neutrality in 2 sit poses, not full race and gender and job neutrality in all poses, emotes, walk cycles, whatever. This isn't about taking things away from Viera or Hrothgar or any other race and it's not about full homogenization of every unique feature the game offers.
An aside, but they're done adding new races to the game so TRUST ME it's only logical they're going to flesh out the ones they have, primarily Viera and Hrothgar. Both will likely see a bigger boost in work done on them after female Hrothgar are implemented into the game. I play Viera myself, so I understand your anxiety, but nobody is trying to take anything from you, rob you of your right to individuality, etc. OP asked for two (2) sit poses.
This is what ppl are like now. So not surprising. “Whaaaa everything be neutral or we cry and riot!”
People need to stop this cringe behaviour. We do not need to conform to their ideals of neutrality and including everyone for everything. People need to stop pushing it on people.
Question is, why should there be a give or take in the first place..,
there shouldnt, if something needs more time, they should understand by now, for a long, long time. that the players have patience once let known that they need it.
But then we have earless hrothgar, hatless Roths and viera. and Unlocking if certain gear/glamour.
<it isnt a ever, its a when.> they are capable of adding and improving the game.
if they need time, they should say so, or get a repeat of EW launch delay.
and it aint even like they need to outline everything.[we didnt want an outline of everything anyways, but it has to be said, cause others will twist]
It aint about Race specialty, or "Privileged" races getting more and more.
or denying your race/gender from being their gender and race.
[In fact, like other threads, more gender specific stuff is wanted.., WITHOUT THE RESTRICTIONS THAT THE OPPOSITE CANT USE THEM]
In the end, this topic doesnt offer negatives or bonuses to you. and youre better off making a thread asking for things you want.<without Malice or retaliation to others wants> specially when the way its wanted to be implemented, is to benefit the game, not hamper it.
and thats why people are so opposed to those who are against it, since we arent against what you want. we are supportive for all to have a WoL/D as they wish, and it fits well within the games current setup.
and this ain't a, one thing leads to another as you all tend to paint. its a any improvement shines a light on the rest of the broken, or chains that will get found anyways.
[it all ties together, well and truly]
but we get yours and others repeat of things that you imagine are others intentions.
[when the Improvement of one subject, leads to the higher chance of another system, another issues resolution or improvement]
which like I had mentioned back, a way to separate idle stances/change pose, which I disliked cycling through.
People have been asking for race specific emotes and animations in the thread though. Not viera, but male Miqo and Roe emotes, andimations, and poses. It's not out of the question to take a look at that.
As well, the topic is on gender, which as any MMO is concerned, female characters just get more options and more care is put in when fitting gear for female characters, there's nothign that can be done about it. As things get their gender locks removed you can see much more care is taken to making it work on female characters than the reverse being fitted to male characters.
With that being said, male characters have a few glams and animations that are better, and it makes that give and take work. There's downsides but also benefits. I'm fine with the downsides as long as there's also some unique benefit. The way it is now is not bad, that's perfectly fine for there to be give and take in my opinion.
On the other hand there are people like you who have come into threads just to tell someone who shared images of their male character wearing feminine clothing that their character looked "bad" and was an "eyesore". Many folks in this thread have made perfectly reasonable points about racial uniqueness and gender individuality in the game. You're not one of them, lmao.
Just cause a few want the extreme end, doesn't mean the middle or halfway shouldn't exist. you're letting a fraction of a small fraction of forum users want to defeat an entire topic.
which is part of why the topic is a recurring in many things.
you all aren't wanting to separate the various level of suggestions or asks for the games enhancement, or improvement, or fixes.
So it leads to the back and forth.
if a certain section wants that, but you aren't against the whole idea, just say you're for the improvement of the system. but without stripping what you feel is race specific.
but what we get is passive aggressive at people who can't separate the various levels of suggestions.
some which have no reason to lock like Hempen, or reason to be held back like when or not a tier should remain locked or be unlocked.
I certainly hope people who are fighting tooth and nail in the '' let me hide people's glamours '' thread and supporting such a feature aren't in here being against this suggestions, because after all, this won't affect you in any way.
Overall I wouldn't mind this, but I think it is overall a positive thing that different races and genders have uniqueness to them outside of just appearance. If you seek to play a female character with more neutral emotes, that already exists in race+gender combinations that get played the least among female characters. But nevertheless, I don't really have any reasonable arguments against this suggestion beyond preserving uniqueness and that some races and genders get played even less as one of their main appeal can be potentially implemented for the most popular race+gender combinations.
I certainly hope someone isn't conflating two seperate situations and understands that just because someone can be against removing gender/role/race restrictions from items doesn't mean they are against additional items for those genders/roles/races that are still unique. Or the fact that it would affect everyone because it would be applied to everyone, but I'm sure there's no one here trying to do that or anything.
I propose a solution then, give everyone access to everything.
If that is the case, then the request to unlock content is still a request for uniqueness. What it isn't is asking to get rid of options that we already have. Roes would still have their emotes if they were available to Miqote.
In a game with only 5 or so idle poses per character that are arbitrarily tied to body type, you don't have to look very hard to find repetition. That's the problem with limiting things to Roes or Hyurs, or whatever and what leads to instances where the same idle pose stands out because a dozen people are using it as if they were robots.Quote:
Roe emotes should stay roe emotes, same for every other race. Same for genders to. Thats a big part of what makes them unique. If I want male emotes I'll play a male character.

Clearly not everyone feels the same way on emotes and poses, but I think I made it clear that the point isn't to take away uniqueness.
It's certainly inspired by real life in a number of ways. All player characters are essentially human or have human traits, and the game attempts to capture the variety seen in people physically in the character creator. All I want is the same to go for personalty. I don't know how you design your own characters but I tend to put a little bit of me into them. In a lot of cases I play the most "normal" race in a game, but in the case of FF14 the mannerisms were so far off I've felt better represented by characters with cat ears and a tail for instance.Quote:
This isn't real life.
You make it sound like asking for what you want is a bad thing. The forum exists partially to receive feedback and apply it to the game. What gave us Viera? Asking. What gave us more variety in outfits? Asking. What gave us more glam plates and dresser space? Asking. Where would we be without making requests? Probably a much worse iteration of FF14.Quote:

I don't know why you want to make this political. People ask for something they want, a completely reasonable act, and then there are comments like yours that have to paint it as a conspiracy theory or something. I don't know what ideals you're talking about or who we're conforming to. I just want to enjoy my video game.
Why is it that asking for something is conflated with demanding to have it? Where is the entitlement exactly in trying to improve something you enjoy? Why is there a limit to what we can ask for?
I WAS NEVER AGAINST THAT OPTION! I merely said that there are arguments to be made from both sides.
My point is that the entire '' it won't affect you '' argument is very convenient when it's a feature you want, but oh my does that argument not apply when it's a feature you for some reason disapprove of. Afterwards it's definitely a feature that actually does affect the player in some arbitrary reason you've decided and thus cannot be implemented. And on that note, you just come off as a troll and/or dishonest.
But if '' I might have to use this emote for 2 second as I type /cpose '' is actually a thing that thoroughly would affect you and your '' self-expression '' and that's the hill you are willing to die on, that's fine.
Because one (hide glam) is a feature that would only affect and be visible those who choose to use it while the other (poses) would be applied across the board and as such will be actively visible for those who wish not to use it, regardless if it's 2 seconds or 20 minutes.
And again, I'm not against more options, just the idea that every emote, pose, what have you has to or needs to be applied to every race/gender.
It's REAL funny how they keep coming into these threads with CLEAR political motivations, telling folks their non gender confirming characters look "bad" and are an"eyesore" and anybody who has no problem with it is "cringe". Then they turn around and claim it's actually everybody else who is echoing politics where they don't belong. Why? In their mind a male character EXISTING in a dress = political. A female EXISTING and using a masculine sit pose = Political. Pure, unfettered projection.
