Why are you back anyways? I wish I could leave xiv but im stockholmed.
It isn't really 'pay to win'. I tried it out a month after launch, didn't spend a single bit of money on the store and still managed to catch up easily enough between the items I gained naturally and the generous rewards offered through the login bonuses/special events.
With Square Enix flirting with NFT's and selling dolls of comfort characters for £1000 I also find it strange to bash one game for optional purchases but ignore the other. Even if you want to go 'well it's just cosmetics' and ignore stuff like emotes and minions being tied to merchandise, to get extra inventory space in FFXIV you need to pay extra each month.
Dang he’s out of line but he’s right. Haha
All in all lost ark has better combat but no staying power this is the fate of Korean MMOs but I do think SE could take some ideas from them and adapt to them. I mean they have a real gunner class (which is what I played 75% of the time) combos that feel genuine with abilities that have impacted
But your wonder if it’s so good why comeback. Easy FF has a enjoyable world, people place events that don’t feel hollow 100% of the time though there is some that… eh but overall FF is familiar and alive Lost Ark feels like I’m a solo player and everyone is just there but that isn’t to say it’s not good just not the best at building a community
Fair got me there Haha but I never do trust so I didn’t think of that
Guess it is "The Found Ark" since you went there and are back safely kupo <3 jk jk lol ..so bad
Playing a heavily P2W game is NOT my thing. And before the Lost Ark crackheads even get started that it isn't a P2W game, I have seen all the videos and read all the articles of people dumping money on that game in ridiculous amounts. NO THANKS.
I don't think you could spend several grand on XIV within your first month even if you bought every item on the Mogstation.
Like... I've spent several grand... In the course of 10 years, and most of that is on fanfest tickets and hotels and merch, not "the game".
I have 0 Mogstation mounts. Most of my shop funds went into fantasias.
I don't think you need first hand experience to take note of the game's long standing history of people advertising clears in the party finder.
...and as has been pointed out, other people aren't spending a single bit of money on Lost Ark either.
Theodric if you're going to defend that crap in LA and attempt to compare it to XIV, at least use something actually comparable. Players selling wins isn't the same thing as LA selling players materials or progression or power. If you wanted to make a comparison at least use the Job or MSQ skips as those offer progression for money.
No dog in this fight, just jeez dude you used to make intelligent arguments.
I'm defending it on the basis that it's a fun game to play on the side and despite playing it on the side I managed to start 'late' and catch up without spending a single bit of real world money. There's long been many people attacking F2P games simply for being F2P but then you've got FFXIV being a subscription based game that leans on all manner of shady business practices that it conveniently gets given a free pass for.
As I see it, either people are truly against such business practices in general or it's solely tribalism at play.
Ah, this again! Some people just care enough about FFXIV to view it through the lens of 'how can it improve' and 'how can it avoid the pitfalls of the competition' rather than 'this is teh best evar it can never be criticised'.
Just stop. Are you really trying to compare Lost Ark's P2W to FFXIV. You must have fell out of bed and hit your head. I just can't even entertain your posts any more. Utterly ridiculous to think their is a comparison when people are literally dumping money like crazy in Lost Ark. As far as you claiming that people dumping thousands of money to get carried in high end raids. Well that is severe Hyperbole. I know of people who have done what you say and they paid just a little under 125 bucks. So, no, people spending thousands of money in Lost Ark literally, is just lost ark.
That comes off as an actual well-reasoned defense and I can get behind that stance, as I play other games that are predatory or have heavy 'pay for convenience' stuff pushed on the player through heavy grinds or obtuse systems and never spend money as well. I just didn't get why you brought up player-based RMT and tried to compare it like SE makes money off those transactions.
Everyone misspelled Lost Ark, it's *Cost Ark.
It's because people with an addictive personality will resort to whatever means is available to them in order to be 'first'. Whether that is done officially or through backroom deals doesn't matter much - they'll find a way.
I just don't care enough about microtransactions when they're present in pretty much every MMO these days. I can show restraint and not pay extra and if other people fall prey to the desire? Well, its no skin off of my nose.
I just don't see much point in pretending as if FFXIV is some perfect angel on that front, especially with the CEO recently coming out with praise for NFT's and Yoshi-P shilling increasingly expensive merchandise each time a new Live Letter swings around.
I just find it funny how quickly people are to say “go play another game” or echo yoshi’s sentiment of playing other games, yet when people make posts talking about playing said other games, many posters feel the need to bash those games. Maybe you should listen to your godly developer and be respectful of other games? No one’s saying you have to like the game but if you’re going to continuously bash it, then be prepared for some criticism abou 14 as well. What’s funny is a lot of the posters i see here bashing lost ark are the same posters who get hyper offended if you mention anything is wrong with 14.
I don't participate in them because I think it's dumb.
I don't come here to bash other games, outside of expressing my dislike of certain requests from said games that I am not interested in seeing in this game.
I've played over a dozen mmos over the years. I wouldn't want systems from most of them in XIV, as they are terrible.
