Nothing vague about it, as they mentioned what was going on in the various Follow-up posts. The maintenance was to extend the lottery period while they continue working on the 0 bug issue, which, as mentioned in Follow-up #3, could be a number of business days because they want to replicate the errors, fix them, then verify the fixes. I was hit by the bug so I get the frustration, but it would be would silly to hold another lottery while working on preventing the bug from occurring again.

Heard from who tho?
They already said that it'd take a day to even verify the issue and then three to five days to verify that it has even been resolved but that it could take longer.

Often times it's actually more difficult to build something on top of an already existing thing, it doesn't matter if it's FFXIV or WoW the devs run into a lot of problems because of how the game was built from the beginning ( in regards to FFXIV they also have to deal with it being built for consoles too, which only further limits it ).
The WoW devs have big issues even implementing housing altogether because of how the game was originally built, it's not that they don't want to add it.

The same goes for expanding on housing and adding more variables, I imagine it's probably a lot more difficult and complicated than people give credit for and they gotta work with what they have already and what time and resources they have available.
Like with the hair thing people love to point to modders but modding and officially implementing something especially server side are two completely different universes.
I think it's worth being a tad bit humble and understanding that we don't have a full view and understanding of what's actually going on, I mean people on this forum going crazy about this problem didn't even understand what the problem even was and went on giant tirades about something that wasn't even the issue.

Back on topic, always felt they need to limit housing to one per account and shared with all characters on that account (Having a FC house an exception to the 1 house rule). Sure people can make a second account, I kinda have no problem with that as they are funding the game either way.
I feel like lately SE is starting to fall out of touch with the player base, some of the decisions they are making defy logic...... Sadly... taking time to find and fix this bug.... is not one of those times.

May be defending them, but make no mistake, I want my house too! and my plot im after is locked behind the FC only rule, my FC house is the ONLY house on the entire ward lol. There weren't even any bids from other FC's on plots there during round 1.

Oh I agree in fact I always defended him. On his YouTube channel people still come at him due to his botting and giving out gold to new players. Instead of botting and just keeping it and buying plots like my old FC. E

I think a better system would be enough, together with enough space (enough servers). Before so many new people started with FFXIV there were always some free houseplots.
Even when the number of players exploded there were still free houseplots from time to time, if you observe a lil bit. When SE stops the 45 days timer, then there are almost never free plots. Because all people who never use their house keep their house.

The lottery is also easy to abuse for rich people with multiple accounts and bots. My idea was at first a 90 days of membership, before an fc member can get the lead (and become owner of the fc house).
This would make it very hard for all those resellers. And people who often hopp between fc's are also negativly affected with that 30 days. But the 30 days can't solve the problem.

Second I suggested to shorten the timer to a maximum of 8 hours. For people who wanted to buy a house new, it was so that they had almost no chance within the first hours.
So my idea was to use the first 1-2 hours for some kind of '2nd timer' for people who wanna relocate. So that they have a little timer, too.
So resellers couldn't sell the plot immediately to a relocating person. Because it can take up to 2 hours until the land can be purchased. And in this time (if it's a nice plot) other players with interest to relocate will surely show up and also try and click on the shield. :3

After the first 2 hours, the 2nd timer starts for everyone. But to a maximum of 8h until the land is ready. When there is enough serverspace, like it was in the past, then the system with the housing wards
is no problem and there will be always free plots you can try to get. The big problems were always the resellers who try to get every house just to sell it for moonprices or making gil for rmt and that the space became too less with all the new players.

Keep in mind, NA and EU have entire new data centers and worlds coming down the pipeline. Spreading everyone out should relieve the pressure again for a little while.

Truthfully, tho, probably the bigger issue is that folks keep paying RMT for this stuff.

Having cool and desirable things that other people (or players) want but cannot get increases your social status in games and in real life.

People also become happier when they are clearly and visibly better off than someone else in some way - and therefore not at the bottom of the pecking order.

(It's also not at all surprising to see different perspectives - and sometimes outright antipathy - in the forums between different social classes in the game such as hard-core vs. casual, housed vs. homeless, PvP vs. PvE, mass market board merchants vs. small sellers, tanks vs. healers vs. DPS, veterans vs. sprouts, etc..)

It isn't always positive, but it is a reflection of how social systems tend to work.

i cant wait for a follow up post here after you realize you didnt win the plot and realize all plots will be sold and theres a chance you wont win any plot ever because its luck based completely. Then youll finally realize everyone elses frustration. I hope you win the plot but the reality is its a lottery sure you have "A" chance but i strongly believe you shouldnt have to worry about luck to get what u want in the game i believe you SHOULD be able to get a plot just as you wish without relying on "LUCK"

On my server there appear to be many plots that had bids but no winner due to the zero bug, but also many plots with no bids at all and no winning number. So it looks like there may be potential to get an FC house if you don't mind a medium or a small. Also some of the larges seem to be relocations.

I don't understand all this aggression against alts. Alts are a game feature and it is encouraged. Alts are a time investment and time is money if you invest your time and pay your money you should be able to gain rewards for said time invested. let me explain to you what a alt can do because I don't think yall understand alts. I have 5 retainers which means my alt has five as well. On one of my alts the retainers are all botanists level 90 and I can get 100 integral logs pr hour. I can get 600 shards pr hour. This saves me the time to go and gather this stuff saving me money. One of my alts has 5 miners, and one of my alts has 5 warriors my 5 warriors can get 100 Ophiotauros Hides pr hour and this is huge because you can't get these mats easily by seeking them out and killing them because the kill to get mat rate is so low. I couldn't be the crafter I am without my alts. I wouldn't be able to afford a house. Alts save me time and time is money.

So omnicrafters are the XIV equivalent to SAO's beta testers? We're all cheaters who abuse a system to gain an unfair advantage over the people who aren't? I agree, personal housing should be one single house per account, period. The time requirements for FC home ownership should be greater too; at least rank 10 and the FC master should have been in the FC for at least 90 days before being able to take possession of the plot. It would be awesome if FC house ownership were limited to one FC house per account, period. Let a player make as many FCs as they like, but that account could only ever have possession of a single FC and single personal house regardless of how many characters they across however many different servers.

If you haven't read the recent updates, SE have the logs of who won all the plots, even if that data didn't get transferred to the housing server. All lotteries were correctly and legitimately run and all the people who did win them will be given their chance to take possession of the plot when the time comes; even if they refunded their deposit. This will happen sometime between now and the 29th, once they've got the error fixed.

Anyone who gets a plot from this current round will have won it legitimately. The mechanism worked correctly, it was "simply" an error in communicating the win data to the server that controls housing. Nobody's going to get a plot they shouldn't have gotten due to this bug.

Quick Exploration for me, after lvl 60 they are pretty self sustainable with turning in gear to GC. Then save any of the BOE gear that don't sell for much for alts retainers you are leveling to turn in. If you do mainly quick explorations at lvl 90, you get more gear to turn in than you know what to spend it on, on top of all the other items. Especially with all 10 retainers per character.

no I have 4 alts with 5 retainers each that's 25 retainers for me and yes I gear them through running roulettes on each and the mats they give me are priceless not in price but in quantity. how do I have time for all this? i'm retired and the game keeps me sane against the real life dynamos ... of despair

That's what I do too. It nets enough seals to keep the ventures running and the GC loot boxes rolling in. There's nothing like making my fictional employees bust their backs to support my gambling habit. LOL!

My primary question was how do you generate enough venture tokens to keep them running? Is it just seals earned by turning in gear you get during your daily roulettes? If I were sending out all my retainers on hunting ventures more than once or twice a day I'd quickly run out of coins to pay them with. Every so often I'll do an hour of quick Shisui of the Violet Tides farming to get seals if I'm on a net-negative streak, but I'd rather get what I need doing things I already do, like roulettes. I agree; the value of the materials is much more than the Gil cost, it's the time saved by being able to not run FATEs all the time for the gems to buy the materials...especially leather!

This is what makes it worse than not having a lottery in ways that people just arent understanding.
Yes, sure, it sucked having to click on the thing for hours. But at least you had that CHANCE and it would all be over within some hours. You could be doing whatever and suddenly notice a house open. and if no one else noticed it before you? You could just swoop in and take it alone. That was how I got mine! It wasnt even up for that long and no one else was around! NOW with this though...man...its forcefully up long enough that a bunch of others are going to show up and put their change in. Now no matter what, you're competing with a bunch of others-AND it's taking like a whole week lol. zzzzzzzzzzzzz. Again, 'oh wah wah but before-' yeah yeah but at least before you could be sneaky and get your way with some dumb luck. Dumb luck isnt an option anymore. Only patience, for about a million years.

You get more gear per minute on Kugane Tower than shishui. And yes, that's how you do it. Make the retainers bring you hourly stuff, and turn that back into seals.

I completely understand the extension on the housing to remediary fixes.

We were the only bidder on our plot, with a result of 0 - So long as THOSE people including ourselves get what we technically won, then by all means give it some time.


If people who technically won don't get what they did... thats going to be a total mess...

I would honestly report this below to a GM or the RMT/Bot teams because that is crazy.

One of the recent announcements stated that anyone who removed their money due to losing to a "0" will not be negatively impacted. But they don't know how they are going to work it out yet. So, from that I would think those individuals, if they won, will still get their opportunity to finalize the house purchase.

You are missing the forest for the trees. It doesn't matter how much gil a person has, if said person did not already own multiple houses across multiple characters on the same server before the newest restrictions went live then, as of 6.0, they only get one personal house on their server. Its not really worth wasting your lone personal plot on an alt that your main cannot easily take advantage of so alts buying houses will not be a trend unless we're talking shell FCs.

And thats a whole 'nother issue.

Except for trading in gear from your dungeon runs for seals (which is an excellent way to farm ventures when leveling), in my opinion, sending your retainers on quick explorations is the best way to earn ventures. At max level, my retainers regularly bring in gear that trades in for at least 1200 seals, and since ventures cost 200 seals a piece from your grand company vender, you can invest the seals from your gear trade-ins to earn more than double the ventures you are spending.

That's not what I had asked, really just "when will we get the plot thing working again" and "can people who got a refund get a house?". So thank you on that front. Otherwise yeah, I understood how this bug happened from what SE explained. It's not an issue with the array itself like people thought, but rather the part that displayed results.

Because I did think "It's gonna take up to 5 business days to implement a fix, it's gonna happen in 3 stages, everyone will get their plot if they rolled for it". But then I saw people say that we weren't getting houses at all, that this was just to delay the thing until they implemented the fix for people who kept their money in the placard... so I just got incredibly confused, and people replying to me in-game saying that stuff was vague didn't help at all.

That's what I normally do with mine. The question was posed to the person because they said they send out 25 different retainers across 5 characters on 18H ventures, I assume every day, which amounts to a lot of seals they would have to farm themselves.

Ah, sorry. To steal a quote from one of my old chemistry professors when asked when a reaction would be done "when it finishes"; "when it's working again". :D Only Zodiark, Hydaelyn, and Yoshi-P know when that will be and two of them ain't talking.

I'm with you; I was concerned about some of the stuff at first two and had to read through their updates a couple times in succession to feel comfortable with my understanding of it.

How dare you say this is a fake post. I just posted what I read on the loadstone and after seeing what I read I went to the plot I was in and checked the date and that date was nine days from then. If you don't have facts don't reply with lies.

Well, in all fairness, we don't know. They added 9 days because they think that's the maximum they will need to allocate houses to all the winners, and also, pretty much takes them up to the Golden Week holidays.

So, the next lottery might start way earlier than 9 days, possibly even this weekend, or it might be locked out until after the Golden Week holidays - just in case there are more problems. They will likely be extra cautious for the next run, and logically that means not having it happen while they are all on holidays.

We can guess when the next round is, but we can't be certain. There just hasn't been enough information in the Lodestone to know that part.

Dude it said the next round of the lottery will start on 4/29 it can't get much clearer than that .... sorry I just went back and checked and it says results period ends at 10:59 4/29 but it still means the same thing to me

Just pretend the heading is "Lotto results period extended" if ur having trouble understanding, They have extended it to make sure they:
A. Fix the bug
B. Implement the fix.
C. Give people enough time to pay for and accept there plot.

If in doubt of the time frame go to the placard it says it clearly on there.

well you all deserve this much BS. sorry to come out as pity or how you will call it, but why you take part in this un finished system? its was not OK from day 1 in 2.1 . just dont use it and make SE know why. onlly when they make it so ALL the players that want a house can get one only then take part in it. but if you take part in this, in UNFINISHED races and so one SE will think you love it and want more.

So much hate is this topic, the lottery is still bugged sure. But its allready way better than what we had before, at least at full servers like mine. For the case some of you didnt get why. The current system has a few big bonuses in compare what we had before.

1. You don't need to camp 24h nonstop the Place Card against other players and bots
2. You can do something else while trying to get a plot
3. The old system also was a lottery just in a different way.
4. You have time to check out all available plots and make a decision, no need for rush because you know when the lottery ends.
5. No more stupid system of buying a shitty plot first just to relocate easier to the plot you want later.
6. Everyone has the same chance no matter if you are an unemployment who can play all day or someone with a life and work.
7. For the first time in years there are a lot of free plots on all wards on my server. Even in Mist in Shirogane are large Plots available and you have a chance to get them. This was clearly not possible before the change.

Is it perfect? No, but every FC without a house has now a real chance to get one.

what we have before whas pure trash and what we got is pure trash in a different way. the onlly good system there can ever be is one where ALL PLAYERS can get a house if they want. any thing but this is trash. and people like you is why we don't have it.

Sure that would be the ideal case, but this will not be possible in this game and it was the community owns fault when they asked at the very beginning what people want. You have to live with what you have and make the best out of it. Under the given circumstances the new system is a 100 times better than anything we had before.

its not possible as long as you and people like you will say so. when you start demanding it and just not use the bad system over all then it will start to change. the cornet system is as bad as what was before it. even after the bugs will be fixed, but as bad this team at making roulettes i don't think it ever be. as for live with what you have, the worst mentality you can eve have in life. if people was like this in the past we will still all be slaves to the aristocrats. demand equality when you pay for something. now if ff14 go F2P then it can be as you say. SE can do so much more in this game (they got the cash). but why will they when people constantly say " ye its not that good but i take it because yoshi P". never forget that SE are here for the money not to be your friend. even yoshi is the same.

This is the best post and answers all of my points. Listen to her she's right. There is no point in being salty. When the lottery resumes, she will be proven right and I hope all who disagree with her will send her an apology post.
