Throwing a tantrum and calling it "the TRUTH" is funny.
Ending your post with that just reinforces the insecurity that's already running rampant throughout it in the first place.

I love the "suddenly" people migrated to ff14. No sweety, they migrated with asmonbolg and rest of main wow ex fanboys in june. Thats over 5 months ago. SE and "god"yoshi had tons of time to adress future capacity problems.
Its so funny how people still have the nerve to talk about chips and shortages. You do know SE could just rent already existing servers, but they're not doing it because they don't want to spend their money? But keep licking those boots, I guess, they love y'all for sure and Yoshi-P is crying right now because he cares and loves you all and he is just so hurt over this. Poor small indie company that will never get the money to help their ungrateful costumers. We should be ashamed. I, for one, want to start a fundraiser for my favorite company in the world and I won't even ask for anything in return, that's how grateful and loyal I am. Please take notes, SE haters.
You almost make it sound like SE had nothing better to do but STILL couldn't be bothered to add more servers.
In articles about the semiconductor shortage, there are quite a few that state wait-times for chips is as far out as an entire year. In an article I linked either earlier in this thread, or in another, it even stated manufacturers in Japan had been hit hard and cannot produce more right now. That's on top of shipping issues all over the world.
It doesn't matter. They aren't entitled to sell a game that people can't play because of the semiconductor shortage and do NOTHING ABOUT IT.
The free 7 days are gone and the state is the same as during the early access starting date.
You can't argue with this anymore: I AM PAYING FOR SOMETHING I AM NOT BEING ABLE TO PLAY. Square-Enix is doing absolutely NOTHING to fix this.
What should they be doing you ask? At the very least fixing the queue disconnects.
Speaking for myself (NA Player) I haven't had any Error 2002 or other queue disconnects since the last restart of the servers. That said, if you're paying for something you cannot play, then stop paying for it. Find a better use for your money. FFXIV will be here when/if you want to come back. Surely having fun with another game beats this frustration you're feeling?
5 months is honestly kinda short for big stuff like server rooms. In a normal situation you could’ve maybe gotten it done, but it would’ve been close.
I do agree that they didn’t communicate this in a clear way. They technically warned everyone but it didn’t sound like this would be as bad as it’s ended up being, imo.
Even before COVID, 5 months to acquire long term solutions for wavering problems would be considered somewhat fast. Planning for major expenditures often takes months alone and that's not even including implementation. During this pandemic though? I bet these people actually think the video card shortage will fix itself in a month. As I'm sure people have been telling themselves long before it too.
well, since the OP started playing since before ARR was a gleam in the eye of great software gods.. or something
you would think their character would have more than a basic number of mounts and minions.
I get it, they'll say its an alt.. but why post on an alt calling out SE when it would carry more weight on their main...if they had one.
yes, the queues are bad, but in other games, queues just say that game is popular... not SE however, says failure. just like the OP and their "here since ARR" troll
Fun fact, join dates also include 1.0 and alpha testing for 2.0, which is about the time I joined.
But I'm pretty sure it's when you made a forum account, not when your sub started.
They could probably pour a lot of money and get the required equipment at a higher price, though that may not be worth it to them. It might seem like a no brainer from the outside, but I'd imagine it's a bit more complicated internally than just telling them to spend more money. It has been a bit of a rocky launch, but I think anyone who saw the signs starting at least a half a year ago knew what was going to happen. SE should have as well, but I digress. It is what it is now.
That's NOT enough time to do what you want them to do. 5 months ago we STILL had a shortage. And to drive the point home... SE didn't know about that unitl AFTER it happened. Do you people work beyond shitty costumer service? Things just can't and don't happen instantly. And even if it did, we STILL have a shortage. NO amount of time would change that.
You know... I don't really gonna defend anyone, I normally just try to be reasonable, but this community has very little experience on launch day stuff. And I don't mean to offend anyone, or call no one anything, far from it. I just find it funny. I've been in mostly every MMO release, both big expac and launch of the game per se. Still none has been successfull. Ever. I mean, I get it, you are angry and you have the right to be. But for the first weeks of Endwalkers, with all the streamers, hype, adds everywhere and specially the rapid and unexpected growth on numbers, plus the near-even-much-more-close-to-apocalypse state we are in the world right now and in the economy and logistics in particular, I was expecting:
1.- Queues
2.- Server errors
3.- Servers going down, at random
4.- Corporate silence
5.- Twitter and forums outrage, followed up but some official response of some obscure PR SE department, and more corporate silence
6.- Login and social servers going up and down like xmas lights on WWI
7.- Bugs, a lot of them. Quests that can't be completed, NPCs that don't spams,
8.- Lag. A lot of it.
9.- Random disconections
10.- An absolute hellish state of the game
11.- Glitches, a lot of them
12.- People threateing FFXIV crew with death threats on social network
13.- Game patching like no tomorrow
14.- FATEs, dungeons and world swarming with bots to boost reapers and sages
15.- Techincal problems due shortages
So far, only queues and public discomptent. I just need to plan my entry with a couple of hours of advance (no 2002 error since last week so far, and my internet isn't quite good), and once inside, the game goes like a dream, sweet and delightfull. No quests broken, no bugs, no glitches... And people, real, actual people grouping to do new stuff instead of bots or boost selling mindless farmers. And Reaper just needs a minor, very minors nerfs in DMG output, and sage a couple of very minor twiks to be not just quite balanced, but also original. The outburst, mele nuker assasin and the aggresive support shield healer, in contraposition with the rest. I mean, this isn't the roughest MMO launch I've been. Not by far. Still isn't good, but I'll take over the horrible experience that SWTOR was. Or the recent New World has been.
Look I love the game too. However LITERALLY the day they through the switch on Endwalker they 100% knew NA and EU were going to be in the state thier in. It just wasn't that important to them.
because the screaming when they delayed 2 weeks wasnt loud enough for you? or perhaps you werent on the forums at that time.
there was virtual blood on the streets with people threatening and angry over a TWO WEEK DELAY.
I can imagine the reaction from the people complaining now about queues if they had delayed 6 months, or even more... so dont even go there lol.
Okay.
Why did this need another topic?
Go to the main page read all the media posts and notices they have posted about this. Learn to be better informed so you are less clueless ....have a good day
Your not wrong, but angry people that are still angry just about a different issue. Or angry people AND a huge loss of respect and faith. First choice is a better one. They knew they were screwed LONG before that delay. At least in other countries. If they would've said in August or September that the game release was going to need to be pushed back would've went over alot better then whats happening now.
If people didn’t invest in these disgusting cryptocurrencies we would also have more resources to use stable login servers :)
Ye it's bad over all . Problem SE fucked up by not upgrading in the past year where it was clear there be more players and but alot.
The problem with the current global chip shortage has been going on longer than the past year. It's been happening ever since COVID hit. Also the mass exodus from certain other MMORPGs did not happen until this year, 2021, so there was no way to foresee certain events with a certain blue company setting itself on fire and driving so many of its players to this game. How could they have foreseen in time to buy before the shortage hit?
This BS. There lots of not in use servers you don't need totally new ones, and really new servers used for MMOs. The problem SE may have is that the servers they use are old and need costum parts.
As for the unprecedented number of players, the game was getting people constantly from ShB started. To a point where SE was need to stop sales for the game. The pre order for EW was record breaking. So what was unprecedented ?
The shortage is going on from end of 2018 not start of covid. I work in the field. What's more big part of it is artificially shortages.there companys like Samsung or apple (some chained as well) that buy more that they use.
Ff14 was getting more players from ShB. If they did not see it some one need to be kicked out and fast.
Do you have a source for what numbers were joining from the start of Shadowbringers? Because otherwise I'm more inclined to believe what is actually the case, that with the downfall of a certain popular MMO this year, along with the bad launch of another by Amazon, the exasperated situation meant we had way way more people flooding over to FFXIV than anyone could have expected. I even know this from experience having played Shadowlands, seeing my entire server empty out in the past 6 months and flock to FFXIV. This was six months ago, not 2018.
Also not to cast doubt on your field of work but again, I'm inclined to go along with every news article I've read that cites mass COVID lockdowns as one of the biggest reasons for the current shortage of chips.
As for your claim about 'artificial shortages' and the insinuation that other companies are hoarding said components...well, I don't know, I'm not privy to shady corportate secrets but even if it were true what do you expect SE to do about that? Phone up apple and samsung and go "Oi oi you, our players need those chips, sell them to us."
The queue sucks, the error sucks, the fact we can't play when we want sucks. But we're still in a pandemic, there is one crisis going on after another and unfortunate stuff happens that has domino effect on things we enjoy like FFXIV. I know its easier to just go "brrr SE faceless corportate monster" but they ain't any different to any other retailer, but when your local grocery runs out of essentials due to supply chain issues during covid you don't bombard them with "Your just greedy and evil and you should be made to pay" do you?
The people working on these games/in charge of dealing with these issues are still only human, they can't magic up any solution on the spot. Do you -honestly- honestly think they are doing this out of laziness/unwillingness? They WANT all these new people hooked and playing the game, it's mega profit for them in the long run. Do you think they WANT to have to suspend a paid service like name change? Again it's free profit for them. They want this fixed as bad as you do, but we can't just magic up a miracle.
the sales WERE stopped for the pre order.
you dont think the running out of a digital key happens do you?
there would have been a planning meeting on number of generated keys at some point for server stability. that number was met, sales stopped. I imagine some suit said more keys, Yoshi said no.. and it went up the chain until some higher up suit said, sell more...
so thats a fully SE marketing sales fault. the original cap would have been a server team/Yoshi decision
I work in tech too, never saw any shortages other than video cards in 2018 and 2019. Only when covid was full blast did we start seeing the shortages.
The player base for FFXIV has been increasing at a gradual steady rate even during SHB and their plans for expansion was based on that. They could not predict the mass influx that nearly doubled their active playerbase and their order of servers from a year earlier for the OCE datacenter is taking until 2022. So even with their palns, it would take a long time to get what they need.
wrong wrong and very wrong, didnt you know???? they could have predicted the melt down of WoW... all teh people on these forums say so!!!! it could have been factored in!!! they can predict massive spikes! its a thing, they shoulda seen this prior to their 2019 budget meetings
This is probably the saddest/most ironic part of all this really. I obviously don't have proof but I do honestly, to my core believe this; if WoW had not had it's massive downfall this year, with all the controversy around the company, the dire state of the game and so many prominent content creators leaving and taking their hoards of fans with them to FFXIV, fans who then took their friends and guilds and so on and so on until the servers of that game basically poured into FFXIV... honestly I truly believe if not for that event about 6-7 or so months ago the current server issues would be non-existant.
That's not to say go away WoW-people, just pointing out that I really do believe the exodus from there is a far bigger and unforeseen part of this whole issue than people give it credit for.
well, I have read that the population increased 30-40% since spring... thats a rather significant number of players.
nice they came, but certainly a bit more than what they could have planned for in the months they had. I am sure thats one reason, and knowing the coming login issues, why we had a two week delay, so the game itself, would be as good and smooth as possible... once you got in
Wow, this echo chamber.
Another day, another five threads saying the exact same thing, another barrage of responses saying the exact same thing.
We get it. You're quitting and never coming back. See you next week.
They don't listen to the community. Look at what they've done to healers since 5.0. We've been stuck spamming ONE BUTTON for dps and downtime for like 2.5 years despite so many asking for something better. They're going to do what they're going to do and the community can go to Hell. The success of this game's numbers just makes this sense of corporate entitlement worse, so while I'm sure many will agree with you that SE had plenty of time to prepare for this launch by upgrading their infrastructure in advance--THEY don't care and won't listen and/or change anything moving forward.
