I'm still not sure why there are people who latch onto anything that proves that the FFXIV is toxic. What do they want to achieve by "proving" this?

Streamers are also the ones more prone to getting spammed like this. Because people can stream bomb and go 'lol he angy'. This isn't new.
Is it sad that people in the community are doing that? Yeah, beyond sad.
Are at least a decent bit of them people who have been following him? More than likely.
Some things to suggest to him. Find some people to be in a party with in the open world content, if he has a party then he has people who can help him get quest completion at the very least by getting enough credit on killing stuff.
There's a few macros to turn off/on skills from inside/outside the party, so that could help him see a bit better.
In the night sky, you’ll see some light that distracts from the vastness but it never ever overshadows it nor takes away from its beauty
Few irritating people don’t color a community. How narrow do you have to be to deal with these types of absolutes
I think should rephrase, those jerkoffs that are from Cactuar, OR ported in to Cactuar should be ashamed of themselves. Especially those that keep harassing this tuber game with mounts/spell castings/killing mobs before him.
It's disgusting.
P.S. I never knew who Asmongold was until someone posted in this forum that he is some famous tuber from WOW. I really wanted to see him play and his true opinion on FF14. It was ruined with those asshats surrounding him.
I saw the stream, are we ignoring all the sprout characters? I doubt it was just ffxiv players making new chars on cactuar. but we can just act like "bad ffxiv community"
Oh, okay. Good to finally know that some fringe group of random weirdos on Cactuar today is the true FFXIV community. I guess the rest of us were just poseurs all along, who don't really play this game and don't matter. We should pack it up and leave so that Asmon and his legion of True FFXIV Fans™ can carry on, unpolluted by our illegitimacy. Did we even have a community, before now, or did Asmongold create it? It's like, how do you know your life is even real, and that you aren't just a clone implanted with false memories? Was I even playing FFXIV on my own server today, or was that a lie?
The people that were harassing him is hardly representative of the FF community. From what little of it I saw was stream snipers and people that are typically part of asmons fan base; which trolling, is bog standard.
Everything else, yeah I agree. Hopefully those that were behaving how they were are taken care of though.

I’m sure someone will call me out for generalizing everybody, that’s not my intention.
Certainly not your intention. Nope. Not at all. Not even click bait. :rolleyes:Quote:
Harassment to Asmongold on his 1st day stream is an Embarassment to FF Community
So ah ... the drama continues but not in the way people think.
The Lead Product Manager of Blizzard called Asmon an Ahole on twitter, then he and a number of other employees had to switch their account to private.
So ... eventful day lol *nibbles popcorn* https://old.reddit.com/r/wow/comment...lizzard_calls/
You have GOT to be kidding me. I played that and it was a sick joke. BFA was, and is, and always has been a dumpster fire. Disjointed story, bad graphics, mission tables, RNG, drip fed "war campaign"..Ive been gaming for decades , BFA was and is deficient in almost every area.Quote:
The Jaina storyline from BFA is as good as Shadowbringers, IMO
The "invasions" were a copy and paste from Legion, I didnt see ONE original idea or storyline.
The entire BFA premise was absurd, hackneyed, old, done to death,. we'd gone to fight ancients with massive power, and instead of building on that and working forward, they reverted to the faction war that NO ONE believes is worth a stack of beans.
I was Alliance and I remember full well having to go to some weird place, the first dungeon area, no idea where it was, no story on how we got there, no story on how we even knew it existed, to rescue some guy we didnt even know was in the area and to attack and kill NPC's with zero story behind what they were there for. No idea on how I got there, no backstory on any relation to the current campaign, no details as to how whathisface even GOT there to begin with, to say less of what he was doing there.
It was like a jigsaw puzzle with 3/4 of the pieces missing. None of it made a lick of sense...to say NOTHING on how BFA ended..oh wait yeah, I did see an ending like that before, actually.
In Lord of the Rings.
So no, BFA was nowhere near the quality of Shadowbringers and never will be.
I am one of those crazy people that did enjoy BFA story.
One of the few then. For me it was WoW's death knell. And sure enough, the game hasn't been on my PC since about 8.2... or maybe the first month of 8.3. Though like someone suffering from Stockholm syndrome I can't help but check out its news and stuff about patches.
You misread
See, I agree, BFA was awful.
Jaina Proudmoore's storyline that you followed after leveling an alliance character up through Kul Tiras was fantastic. Jaina's story. Specifically. That started with that beautiful warbringers cinematic and culminated in her calling the fleet home with that beautiful song.
Rest of the expansion promptly fell flat on it's face.
Its fools gold. It just added to the drama of streaming, no doubt zack rawr will be happy about it.
He did us a favour, though -- he finally showed the world the true face of the World of Warcraft community! #GCBTW

I guess they're not as friendly as they might've thought of themselves.
I think this is it, though I hope it is not because this is weapons grade ironic:

We arnt Zealots, chill out with that nonsense. We are just FFXIV players that enjoy our game and want others to enjoy it as well. And a few bad actors dont represent the FFXIV community as a whole.
Your post reads like you just want to take down anything positive about this game, over a small group of trolls.
Which part of the "community" are you speaking of? NA? EU? JP? Pretty sure EU and JP has nothing to do with this. Then again the majority of NA community has nothing to do with this either. So, which part of FF "community" are you indicating?
I have to say as someone who has been playing WoW since Burning Crusades and FFXIV since A Realm Reborn, other than on the forums, I've never really seen much toxicity on either game personally. Other than rampant nonsense on the global channels in wow (which I ignored or would read to roll my eyes and chuckle at) and the very occasional rude person in a dungeon or raid through the group finder, most everyone I ever met in WoW were nice friendly people. I did get told on the WoW forums it was because I didn't do anything 'important,' like Mythic+ or Heroic/Mythic raiding, and that could very well be part of it as those things aren't what I enjoy doing. One of my most recent nicest memories is I had been trying to get the Remornia battle pet off the last raid boss in LFR for weeks, but RNG and I are not very good friends (I have 4 characters at max level and geared well for 4 attempts a week) and I kinda sighed in the group chat about missing it again for the week and suddenly, my trade window opened and someone who had gotten it gave it to me. They made my week!
In FF I recently decided to run the entire story again as an alt, and again, have had so many positive helpful encounters. I put up PFs for the different trials to go faster, super nice people join and help, and give encouragement.
Are there toxic/rude/bad players in both games? Of course there are, this is a multiplayer game, and where they are people, you are going to have the good and the bad, and since this is the internet, you are going to see more bad because people think they can get away with behaviour through the screen that they wouldn't do in real life.
Funny how this work: when something bad happen in that other game is the whole community doing it, when something similar happen here is just a few and they don't represent the majority.
Almost all of the people blocking him were brand new sprouts. Just his own community that made a lot of trial accounts to crowd around him.
How can I be sure they were new? Their names would be quickly reported if they had been playing long and most of their names contained a play on his name.
It doesn't really reflect on the FF community at all.
Can we maybe not paint everyone with the same brush? I wasn't there.. were you? No? Ok, great.. with minimal effort we've already found two people not participating in this debacle. And I'm willing to bet a majority of the FFXIV "community" was not interested in following this streamer around.
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the issue isn't FFXIV players or WoW players.. it's simply people occupying planet Earth. You're going to find good and bad apples no matter where you go. It doesn't take a streamer to show you that; anyone who thought otherwise has been kidding themselves.
I don't see how a sprout who isn't even doing the MSQ themselves could block someone who is from doing it to that extent, however I can definitely see high level players one shotting his quest mobs or people who made alts with mogstation mounts stand on his quest objectives.
Having a sprout doesn't mean much (I have it on several characters...) and the ordeal absolutely does reflect on the XIV community.
This whole ordeal:

All games have "good" and "bad" players in them.
WoW isn't free of faults but so aren't FFXIV.
People just gotta accept that there will always be those "bad" people in any game and just focus on playing the game the way oneself wants to.
it's this whole "we and them" attitude that brings this to daylight at this moment.
So what? Just keep playing like always and things will calm down.
I absolutely stand corrected and apologise...you are in fact correct. Mind you the fact the ending was gated behind a damned mythic was..idiotic. it was story content that didnt need to be tied behind a mythic level dungeon ( for my FF 14 brethren thats like tying MSQ behind a mandatory Savage fight ).Quote:

Why they did I could never understand..oh of course, their metrics. Make content compulsory and they can point and say how popular it is.
.
I quit in BFA as I was..well..more or less disgusted at the potential they tossed off in favour of that idiotic faction war.
BTW does anyone remember anything about a humungous sword stuck in the earth in Silithus? Blizzard did.
its still there. Forgotten. Thrown away, like the Order Halls, the Broken Isles, the massive haul of character storylines and background they made in Legion. I sat there and my only thought was "We just had an epic expac with a TON of potential........and this...this...this PATHETIC GARBAGE is what they come up with?"
UGH.
NO.
Bye Blizzard.
Hello Eorzea.
Reality has proven that the FFXIV community isn't full of Zealots or evil people.
GCBTW is just a meme people use to put down the whole XIV community because of a group of people, who realistically are outliers. Every group has them.
What is realistically a handful of people compared to a whole playerbase does not represent the FFXIV community
Exactly the same thing happened with Star Wars The Old Republic. They had a really cool storyline going that had the Empire and Republic working together against the Eternal Empire. The so called fans whined so much for more of "muh empire vs republic" that they ended up cutting that story short without answering most of the mysteries they setup and went back to the same empire vs republic garbage we had already had 6 years of. Then to add insult to injury they brought back a Dr Evil level villain just to please them. I quit and never looked back.
Knights of the Fallen Empire
Knights of the Eternal Throne
Well those games are taken from already existing franchises where the whole premises is factional conflicts.
Taking that away would be like adding to FFXIV where the great companies break up and start fighting one another after the Garlean Empire is brought down, splitting the community in 3 factions.
Turning 180 degrees in a story with a set premises is a very risky thing and could end up with the playerbase who play the games because of the backstory to leave.
But this is the wonderful thing with all the choices of games out there on the market.
If one doesn't like faction war there are plenty of other choices to pick from and vice versa.
In the end it all boils down to personal preferences of what one is looking for.
Regardless of whether the people pestering him were new, old, fans, haters or whatever, they are not "the community".
They are a small fraction of the people playing FFXIV while everyone else gets on with playing as normal, and judging the community based on their actions is like judging a whole crowd because a few people decided to be disruptive.
The larger community has no power to prevent these few people from doing what they're doing.
