I haven't done any of them yet, in fact I thought the story for the raids was so lackluster that it has retroactively soured Automata for me a bit.

I'm just doing it in hope that in the end the quest marker will disappear from the map and I will be able to forget it completely.
until you turned in enough nier parts to make a nier civilization on the first ;)
I completely forgot it had fetch quests. I think I did them.. once and then forgot about them.
I do them first thing I'm on every Tuesday (after I craft/gather for that dude in the Firmiment and the dragon) but I gotta admit, they are extremely annoying how short they are. I just hope there's a reward at the end other then these messages.
There are supposedly 6 messages so 2 more weeks which is about when 5.55 drops. One might surmise that they will be more content added. We should know soon enough.
I forgot all about it, picked up the quest and never even looked at it, I'm putting it down to not really caring all that much about Nier and the story with the dwarfs was for me just boring.
I think Tuesday is when we'll get the sixth message if I'm counting right. Hopefully that's the end of this weekly chain.
I wouldn't be surprised if 5.55 had a short epilogue quest or something, considering this storyline also had little bits in the .2 and .4 patches which alliance raid stories don't normally get, wouldn't be shocked if there was some kind of final reward. They were being kind of cheeky in the live letter I think by saying 5.5 wasn't the conclusion of the Nier story I think?
I actually liked the raids and story even though I didn't play much Nier but it just sort of... ended the moment you finished the last raid and trickling short messages to drag it out over weeks doesn't really work. Was expecting more cutscenes and big conclusion really.
I personally enjoyed the last raid more compared to the firsts 2. Sadly the Tower tires my eyes so badly and i loathe the 2nd boss with the constant downtime.
Story wise it was passable but these weeklies just ruin a lot to me, at least i get to see more Komra dwarves, they barely get anything compared to Tomra ones.
I didn't think the story of the Crossover was exceptional - as in - on par with the Nier series, but for what it was - wasn't bad. Defnitely not as good as the Ivalice raid, but still not terrible.
I think part of what makes it feel lackluster is the source material being SO good, that the expectations for the 5.5 part of the raid was on the roof. I don't expect the ending to be mind blowing or anything, but more giving closure to what Konogg is looking for.
Myeah. I really like the raid as it does kinda answer some questions on certain things (like who Red Girl most likely is, how Knave, Hansel and Gretel are in the network and maybe why Kaine's theme is used and not some remix of the Final Song in Drakengard 3. Probably even vaguely explains how Accord gets around in those games, too), however it does not explain how/why the Seed of Destruction appeared on the First. If it was the Source, then we could just chalk it up to it being like how the dragons, Omega and Ultima appeared.
Well it's more like... where exactly do the Shards exist in XIV's universe? Are they like Drakengard's Earth and NieR Earth where they exist in parallel universes? does NieR Earth exist in the same parallel universe the First exists on? or did 2B and 9S upload their data into the Seed (or whatever) before it appeared on the First? and does that mean there's also a Seed on the Source and other Shards?
I don't really remember all the details on where Shards exist, even if it was explained already.
I actually completely forgot this was a thing. The story was so investing that it just blew my mind and I forgot about it. Great implementation!
well i think they all exist in a sorta pocket universe omega's ability to travel the rift between worlds was why it was included in Tycoon's design the point of Tycoon was to travel back in time but also be able to traverse the rift to reach the 1st which is why alexander and omega was reverse engineered
I did not play any of the nier games so no I had no expectation about that...what I did expect though is at least a good story. For me it was not even near that. We spent a lot of the time with a NPC that turns out to be a traitor and the "real" ones are barely even there. Somehow we just accept that the boy who attacked us is now nice and kind to us and as soon as he is awake they kinda already disappear again.
For all the talk about how awesome Yoko Taro is, I am a bit shocked at what we got at the end. And those weekly quest also dont really help either. Most of the information from the letters is stuff we already could find out ourselves and we barely did anything with the strange behaviour of their leader.
Not even that - we barely spend any time with 2P either, and most of it is just traversing the factory and getting the most basic level of exposition from her. Certainly not enough for her betrayal to hurt in any way. And yeah, we barely spent any time with the supposed main crossover characters - they barely spoke to us in the Puppets' Bunker chapter, were entirely absent for the interlude, and didn't talk to us at the tower either except for guiding us through and several variations of "ignore the machines, they don't have feelings" - and this after all three raids have had nothing but dialogue from the machines and "puppets" being angry at us for killing their friends.
Talking of the puppets, they're such a weird non-plot point. They crash their spaceship on us, emerge from the wreckage dressed in black, immediately turn white like it should be some kind of revelation, and retreat into the bunker where we just fight them because.
There's just no personality from start to finish - and then 2B's departing message says she'll remember the time we spent together and I'm just...what? What time? I don't even feel like I know you at this point.
This quest line is so irritating but I keep doing it because I want to see some sort of payoff.
But week in and week out it’s the same :
Dwarf: “oh wow I was rude before but I want to be a good dwarf now :)) Please let me help by asking you to do a fetch quest”
Glagg appears and has An Episode, then walks away.
Konogg sends us a letter giving us some weird half explanation about the events that already transpired, and asks an additional question.
Rinse and repeat.
I enjoyed the raids mechanically and the rewards were awesome but this story is just so...nothing. And we even had additional quests in between raid patches to expand the story...
To be fair, it was always going to be a condensed experience compared to a full game. I thought the 2P betrayal was a refreshing change of pace - there wasn't a whole lot of emotional investment with the character, but it was the first time in a while that the Warrior of Darkness was forced to acknowledge that blindly working for whoever asks them for aid is not necessarily a good thing.
I also think people are downplaying the abhorrent attack upon 9S. Thankfully it wasn't lethal but if it were, 2B would absolutely be justified in regards to putting down the Warrior of Darkness.
I don't think the Nier raid is any more contrived than the circumstances surrounding G'raha, really.
I think the next one is the last one, though i'm not entirely sure.
if the final massage contained the blueprints for the flight unit but you needed to run the nier raids 100 times would you do it ?
5.55 is likely dropping on May 25th considering everything happening, there's also a live letter on Sunday Morning which they usually do bout 10 days before a patch drop. I'd say theres more content for the Post Nier Raid events to complete it properly, maybe some gatherables/accessories like with the mchach series or even that Flight Unit as a mount.
Considering they avoided calling it the finale of the yorha story I wouldn't be shocked if there's a little more in 5.55. Rather than a mount though I'm hoping for an Emil head piece.
This bit in particular was good, while we often at least have someone we DO know vouch for why we should be helping X person, this was literally "I don't know ANY of you, you two are kind of being jerks and you are a very strange robot lady telling me very little as to why I should be helping, but yeah, sure, I trust you." and surprise, it backfired.
As for the story, it was barebones, but to me at least, there was enough there, it's always the problem with Alliance raids, they don't have a tone of space to work with, Yorha was all action no talk, but last time around I found Ivalice all talk and no action, I honestly preferred the former, just letting me do stuff is preferable to my WoL feeling like she stumbled into a "History of Ivalice" class every time a cutscene started. Though in an ideal world, they'd just give the Alliance raids more room to breath, I think letting them have quests in their off patches is a good step, but they should also increase the amount of space they're given.
That was part of my problem with the raids too, really, though I'd sort of forgotten about it by now. I didn't like the dwarf twins, wouldn't trust them and their scheming half-statements, and sure as heck didn't want to be taking their side and breaking into the machine graveyard against the chief's orders... but no, that's the way the story took it so I was stuck doing what felt quite out of character to begin with.
Dunno how long we'll keep doing the weekly Nier quest-- but I will be disappointed if I don't get at least one (preferrably all) of the following:
I wanted this mount so freaking bad-- was even ready to pay for it on the Mog Station to show my support for the whole storyline

I didn't much like them at the start either, nor did I really want to go along with their plan, though I also didn't trust 2P the moment I saw her and less so the more Factory went on and as soon as I saw 9S every red flag was raised, but there I went, slaying my poor boy, thankfully not actually slaying though. However it does do a good job highlighting the point as Theodric noted, we do A LOT of blind helping, it pretty much always works out, but it was nice for it to finally not, but there have been plenty of quests and side stories that feel out of character for the WoL to just be like "Sure, I'll help" Given who designed this I'm pretty sure that was the point, they were meant to be unlikable at the start and effectively drag our WoL into it because we'll do it, because that's what the quest says to do.
People keep saying about reward, but wouldn't people already know if any exists via data mining? I thought I read about the next exp buff gear, for example.
