Interesting, does that include for new accounts as well? Because Blizzard has a separate introduction for new players and I don't think DK/DH can get into that new intro.

I am a WoW refugee who started when ARR was the only installment of FFXIV thus far. Around level 30, I did take a break from FFXIV for about a month, but then I went back and didn't take a break again until near the release of Heavensward. I don't exactly know how to answer the question, "What was not announced?" because I don't know. I do know what hasn't been announced for FFXIV, and that's an improved glamour system, graphic updates, visibility of headpieces for Hrothgar and Viera, female Hrothgar/male Viera, and other QoL stuff I can't remember off the top of my head, that hasn't been implemented due to "lack of resources," which makes me wonder every time I see that, because I've never worked as a game developer, I have no experience nor wisdom in that occupation, so I don't know what exactly "resources" are. My guesses are staff, and whether or not they're adequately trained for the job, budget, time, software (Unreal Engine), other projects, and events.
But then I hear things like how the development team took it upon themselves to give us flight in ARR, because it was not planned. It makes me wonder if "lack of resources" is really that valid of a reason for things like... giving Hrothgar and Viera visual headpieces/hats. I still think that's silly.

ONe seems more related to character models and gear or maybe RPG ...who knows. The other they did just because they could and did not bother redesign the zones to actually work with it so you cannot really land anywhere lol
There's a lot of bitterness in this thread. Why don't you all have some mint tea and calm down.
It's not hard to have a better housing system than a game that literally doesn't have one.
That being said while WoW garrisons were very flawed and were not housing at all (for non WoW players it was basically a fort with very little customisation, you didn't even have your own bed) they did ensure every player could have one on every single character. No one had to worry about someone else getting one first. They at least got that much right.
not gonna lie when i saw island sanctuaries, I had flashbacks to my MOP farm I had and I got a little excited.
Except that they didn't account for thousands of players all trying to load into an instanced part of the same map at the same time, which made the Warlords launch a massive headache. And then they made garrisons too good, to the point that they had to actively nerf the gold gain from them a few times during Warlords, and then drop it to almost nothing afterwards, in a vain attempt to fight inflation.
They hung a lampshade on it later, when the Mag'har orcs would complain about the Horde leaving abandoned garrisons all over the place.
I remember that very well but I also remember the phasing in WoD launch had issues in general, not only with garrisons. It just was worse at garrisons because you had to keep going back to that place during the lvling process. But that was a temporary issue. FFXIV's issue with housing availability has sadly been going on for several years. Can't be compared to the short time of teething issues of expansion launches.
That being said WoD as a whole was a huge mess but that's another conversation altogether.
Ah they were such a good idea on paper but the execution was really bad. It was poorly balanced and due to it having such little customisation there was no reason to visit another player's garrison unless it had a combat event. Everyone's garrison looked the same. It ended up being a super anti-social feature that had too much going on and most of it wasn't fun. That it was mandatory for character progression made it even worse. Very few actually liked it, but most did love the idea of it when it was first teased at Blizzcon. Such a disappointment.
I just used garrisons as an example because even though they were terrible, Blizzard at least made them available to everyone. No issues with population and availability. Something FFXIV housing sorely needs.
I honestly would welcome the new 14 farm to be an expansion on the Garrison system. I "farm" anyway via retainers. I would love to have my fishing retainer to have a little station, botanist and miner alike. The garrison sucked because it took the job of crafting away from those sub skills. FF14 has fully fleshed crafting jobs, and if designed well, I think a garrison like feature could mesh really well.
While I appreciate the efforts SE goes to keep things under wraps and build anticipation, I can't help but wish they were a little bit more forthcoming about some things prior to an expansion. I'd like to know what changes are coming to my favorite job, and a few more details about new game content (looking at you private islands).
I know what your game is here, but you know what, I'll bite. It's a nice change of pace compared to the chaos enveloping GD currently. We'll probably start seeing more through September and October. I'd be surprised if we go through the entirety of next month without a single new detail.
All sounded boring .
A lot of fluff.
Said bunch showed close to nothing.
And some of you for some reason were happy when they said they will finish job and add male viera and female lion.
You got pretty low standards when half job makes you happy then rest over 2 years later and even more happier instead of demanding/rage for what should be here since first half was introduced.
And listening to community so we add half we ignored over 2 years later to just for nice PR lol.
So easily manipulated.
Disappointed big by 0 news about pvp.
+ i hope they add i log in once and done , having to type log in stuff and one time thing each time i want to play is really annoying and would partially explain why people afk a lot.2021 why there are log in queues makes people quit /one time i managed to play different game for 20 + min while being in queue not fun.
And one last thing why do i see night and day like 1 hour whole day cycle?????
Now hold up. WoW doesnt take player feedback into account they take esporters feedback into account. There were many feedback threads on the official WoW forums giving massive feedback about broken things, pulling the ripcord and many more awful design choices. But Blizzard doesnt listen to those testers, they only take advice from Method, Limit and the likes.
Can ya'll please go to the WoW forums to discuss wow topics. I can't be the only one who doesn't care about WoW in a FFXIV forum for a game that is a world apart.
Problem with WoW has long been the players have problems with the game and it's systems and the developers don't care and just create more systems to fix the problems of previous systems...causing more problems.
That and the whole "borrowed power" template that gets replaced each expansion just means an endless grind without progression.
If you don't do raids or love World quests then there is nothing to do. Especially since professions are crap and the auction houses are busted because of WoW tokens.
Because why acquire ingame currency if you can buy currency ingame through company sanctioned RMT.
It's less what wasn't announced then what hasn't been done in the last 2 decades.
The thing is, we basically have one or two people who try to wedge WOW into here at every opportunity, one person who makes a hobby of bumping old threads just to jam up the forum, and mods who don't care enough to stop them.
I suspect the majority of people don't actually want to talk about it here either – or at least wouldn't start a thread about it even if they'll reply to an existing one.
100% agree, the same toxic people that used to sit on the WoW forums spewing venom about WoW vs FFXIV are now here doing the exact same thing. Even the format of these threads are exactly the same. Its quite disturbing how some people are this invested into making these threads, just enjoy the game youre playing.
@issch @juun, I agree. I am guessing they think they are clever. I will just continue to report them. It's rather childish behavior and I wonder if they realize everyone sees them for what they are trolls with no life. Same for the religious spewing troll.
I forgot to add it reminds me of highschool you know the kid who always sat in the back making fart noises who thought he was cool, but always failed class.
Not sure if anyone addressed this cause I cbf to read through 7 pages. The issue here is that the PF's advertisers aren't breaking any official rules with their ads. They aren't listing official costs or making it flat out say: "HI, WE ARE RMT." So, ultimately, SE can't do anything about them unless someone slips up in their ad and flat out states that it's RMT. They don't touch Discord or anything else because it's third party and they have a pretty firm stance on not taking any evidence from third party on the basis that it can be doctored/photoshopped. The only way they take third party is if the PF advertiser themselves posts a link that directly leads to RMT prices (We learned this when the RP craziness went down and PF advertisers were getting thrown into gaol for posting links that led to ERP prices right on the main page). They aren't going to enter a Discord server and dig for proof. So I'm sure they're aware but probably can't do anything since they aren't violating official rules while using FF's PF.
So has Puremallace finally transitioned into his "WoW living in his head rent-free" forum gimmick? Sad to see.
WoW Refugees=Entitlement.
We're all gamers—we play lots of games!
I'm not a huge wow fan so its interesting to see your guys pov.
It's certainly not impossible, but some people can't help but express their joy and wonder at being treated like decent human beings after being in an abusive relationship for 10 years. The people who have been in normal, healthy relationships just take them for granted. We WoW refugees simply aren't used to having a dev team who isn't trying to come up with new ways to eff with the players with every patch.
it wasn't just one thing, like with most things, it was death by a thousand cuts.
bfa was a horrible expansion, ironically, had worse class design, literally none of the expansion launch features were received well (azerite gear, warfronts, and islands), with warfronts and islands being abandoned in 8.2
the typical reaction the blizzard devs have to player's being critical of spec/class/raid/etc design is "we know better than you" and just ignore it.
the covenant system is horrible because it's designed in such a way that there's a good PVE covenant, typically with the caveat being that covenant choice isn't anywhere as good in other content.
PVP is infested with boosters (ie players selling their services to other players to inflate their ranking) so that honest players get absolutely trashed at the lower ranks because of how many boosters there are.
raids are intentionally overtuned to artificially lengthen the W1st race and receive multiple nerfs in the following weeks/months.
they slowly and intentionally began killing off the midcore audience. the only stuff to do now is just casual xmog (glamour) collecting or high end pvp or raid. most content is designed to push you towards raiding.
9.1 took almost 8 months to release, and there was very little to do except grind anima or farm xmog or mounts or whatever. 9.1 itself had barely any content for the amount of time it took, and the encounters are buggy, and just aren't fun.
now in tbc, there was a few sticking points for people:
you had to pay $30 at launch to keep your vanilla character on a server that was on the patch with naxx forever. they later reduced this to $15.
they started selling level boosts for classic, which turned off a lot of people.
they sold something called the "dark portal pass" which for $35 got you a boost, a mount, and some gold and other goodies. people hated this a lot, and used the /spit emote on people who used these mounts. people complained, and blizzard disabled the /spit emote because it was making the pay pigs upset.
so it was a perfect storm of blizzard being so high on their own farts they ignored all of the complaints and feedback. they probably thought that wow was too big to ignore/fail, so they just shrugged their shoulders. if you remember when asked about wow classic, j allen brach (former president or some high ranking guy) said "you think you do, but you don't." then they saw how much money people were making on their privately hosted vanilla/etc wow servers, so they ultimately went through with it. this is just an example of their arrogance.
and then there's the whole court case you might have heard about, that turned off A LOT of people when it was found that blizzard, for all of its progressiveness and virtue signalling, was just staffed by snakes in the grass predators.
