Lastly... the twelve and Primals seem very FaL'cie like from FFXIII (Kind of a stretch but similarities exist) and the paragons could very well be like L'cie

FF tradition usually entails using themes from previous games, some small things like the reoccuring Cid, Wedge and Biggs, to the larger things the game is completly based round like jobs, having wierd kids in the party and the Job systems.

Even the stories are heavily based round save the moon or save the crystals (notice anything similar in FFXIV?)

Thats why there are things that can be compared to old FF games.

I'm still waiting for the Lunar Whale to make an appearance ^ ^

So what happens to Dalamud? It either doesn't hit us, in which case it will remain visible in the sky since our gravity will catch it. Or, it hits Eorzea in some manner, however, there will be no reason for Aetheryte's floating (since nothing pulling on it). So my theory is that we stop Dalamud, and it just orbits us, pulling and distorting features of Eorzea.

The pdfs were a mix of whats to come in 1.2xx and 2.0, the floating aethers I believe will be in 1.23, when Dalamud is very close.

Dalamud has always been in orbit, it is now closer to the planet and is therefore in our gravity well so to speak and is falling out the sky, it cannot get caught in our gravity and in a low orbit, it will fall unless it gets pushed back to its origanal orbit, think of a comet or meteor hitting the planet, this is the same but something is gonna happen.

All we know is something will happen and all I care about is that something being so epic we hail Yoshi and the dev team about it in a 1000 page forum post.

Although I get what you are saying, two objects can be close, and orbit each other, and not crash into each other. Regardless, I just can't see Dalamud hitting Eorzea bc it would impact every part of the world and kill many people and I don't see SE doing that. Hence I believe it will be this orbiting each other (more closely than now) idea.

Or it could be broken up into smaller pieces, some of which may burn up or further reduce in size upon entry. This would deform the land but not completely destroy it

Yea it could, but I mean, once a chunk of meteor hits an area its unlikely to look how they pdfs, have showed glimpses (i.e., with vegetation, regular weather, water). Unless the whole time theory is involved, that is, that the meteor break up and impact is then preceded by a large chunk of time in which we come back into the game.

The hight at which an object can orbit (lets call it) a mass depends on the force of the masses gravity, and the weight of the object being pulled in, lets take our solar system as an example mercury is the 1st planet and its very small, venus is bigger than mercury and is the second planet, earth is one size bigger and the third planet, etc etc up to neptune. Neptune and Pluto are the exeptions, and i'm not too sure of the reason, perhaps they are held in orbit by another system's gravitational pull.

If for example the moon came into a similar orbit of a standard satalite, with its mass and the gravitational pull of the earth it would fall however if a satalite orbited the earth at the same distance as the moon it would float away because its mass is that low and the reduced gravitational pull of the earth would not be sufficiant to hold it.

All it takes is about 10,000 kilometers out of a normal orbit and it would fall into the strongest gravitational pull around.

Dalamud is too close to us, it is past the "point of no return" and will crash unless something intervines (possible aether-attraction and reacts blowing it up)

Very interesting discussion. I'm excited that something is happening, but perhaps 1.22 will shed some more light on the subject.

Also, I believe I read that it's not even confirmed if Dalmund is a real moon, and that perhaps it is man made. If that is true, that could add a whole new twist to what is going to happen come 1.23/2.0.

How is sending Dalamud into the past and altering eorzea's history timeline any different from a "dimensional merge"? (Other than the former makes far more sense than the latter at this point.)

I do think there will be some surprises in store, but there is no logical way to explain the construction of new cities, bases, etc.. by the empire, beastmen and eorzean races within a blackout period of a couple months.

I find it hard to believe that the devs would set up this elaborate plan including all the quests leading up to this event and not have an explanation for the existence of well-established cities, dungeons, ruins, trains, bases, etc.. as part of it.

Read the translated versions of the maps from the concept art PDFs. Even the existence of great forests and habitats is proof that the world of 2.0 is one that has a history that has had many, many years to develop. This was done deliberately, and will have a plausible explanation when all is said and done.

How about the twelve wish to protect thier children, so form some type of protection of us, however for it to work people who have access to the echo must use those powers at once and form a shield, this shield protects the citizans but perminamtly scars Eorzea, and everyone involved with the shield becomes comatose for 10 years, and we awaken to the new Eorzea.

The twelve also commune with us via the echo, so only the path of the twelve know of this until it happens.

Linking possible current things into what could be possible :)

The resulting savior of mankind makes people not think we are monsters after it because we saved them all, (common theme of people with unexplained powers being feared because of something they don't understand until they are saved)

Also, recently I got around to being able to run the game with higher graphics. I decided to actually look close as I could to the moon.

Does anyone else notice the red spikes protruding from it? >.>

Some compound in Dalamud could attract aether it can be easily explained in the lore, and gravity would not force aether through the ground, it would pull the planet to Dalamud until they slammed together, Physics 101 {do you need it?}

Aether-Magnetism will force aether through the ground towards Dalamud and explains everything that is going to happen, and the formation in Corthas could be to do with a reaction from the aether and Dalamud coming into contact.

This explains everything, how does gravity explain aether coming through the ground, or the fact something the size of a small moon slamming into the world doesn't destroy all life on Eorzea?

Aether is the life energy of everything... and as such.. concentrated aether is compelled to seek out other forms of concentrated aether
if you poured pure liqiud Aether on the ground... and poured more aether 20 yalms away... they would eventually come together...
You can exploit this phenomenon by either creating a moon filled with Aether... or filling an already existing moon with Aether....
And thereby cause planetary bodies to come crashing down

Being that Aether is likened to Creation energy... it is also possible that any Aether inside a moon could give birth to any number of aetherytic beings....

Link me to proof that my thorey is impossible, its more logical and you have yet to show me evidence that it cannot happen, where as you are saying its gravity, which doesn't explain how the aether is being affected by it (and only the aether) also take into account my other thorey of the path of the twelve using the echo to protect people (with the aid of the twelve) and the resulting Dalamud-Aether reaction only scars Eorzea instaid of killing all life.

This is a very Final fantasy way to do it, remember Holy and Meteor in FFVII its exactly the same except tied to the lore of FFXIV, and not a "Ohai a moon just landed on my and I lived"

I think most people agree that it is the proximity of Dalamud to the planet that causes the terrain upheaval.

Be it gravity, magnetism, or aether-magnetism.

I also think that it's safe to assume that Dalamud does not crash into the planet from what we've seen. Apparently, at the 11th hour, something will intervene. It may be the twelve, or the Aether, or the Crystal Tower, Atomos sending it back in time, or w/e.. but something stops it from destroying the planet.

What happens after that is completely up in the air - we don't have any clue how our characters, and all the key NPCs from from 7th Umbral era get transported to the new Era, but we are 99% sure it will happen*

So you see the conundrum.. Post 2.0 world looks like it has lots of history to it, but somehow our current characters as well as npcs, quests, missions, and dungeons all end up in it.

Which means some sort of time/dimension manipulation, and that makes me think Atomos may be involved...

*Note: It's unlikely, but it may be that the PCs and NPCs of this era do not appear in the next one. After all, we do get a reroll (ie new adventurers), so it could be that the new world we enter is centuries later than the one we left. However, I consider this a very slim possibility because Yoshi has mentioned work on porting many of the current cut-scenes over to the new engine -- meaning that they are keeping many of the current missions and quests, and likely NPCs as well.

This is incorrect, the Mass of an object doesn't have any relation to its orbitary position. In you example; Earth (nearly same mass as Venus, but not in relative orbits according to that mass), Mars, Neptune, Uranus, and Pluto all contradict that as well as the Asteroid Belt which has objects the size of your fist rotating around the sun and not getting "flung" towards it. Mass only affects the eccentricities of the orbit.

Back on topic, in the old Dalamud thread I too posted that Dalamud would most likely be stopped, and its "pull" on Aether is what causes all of the nodes and terraforming seen in 2.0 pictures.

Also in accordance to Rydin's Legatus post, its possible the Legatus battle in 1.23 is when we stop him and subsequently Dalamuds "trigger" preventing it from approaching closer. I don't think I've seen anything about post 1.23 so maybe that was the last initially planned patch before 2.0 which would make sense in the events of the 7th Umbral Saga.

I can wait to see Dalamud in 1.22 as Yoshi said it would be more menancing than ever :D

There are other things that hold the outer planets and the asteroid belt in place, the pull from planets and close stars for example, but once an object of high mass gets too close to a larger object, it circomes to the gravitational pull, perhaps planets could get closer to the sun and remain in orbit, but the lower gravitational pull of a planet and the mass of a moon makes it easy to come crashing down.

But we agree on what could happen :)

Could you post your link to your info on the Void Gate?

I've always assumed that the shadow was the underside of a mushroom-like top to the structure.

BTW, to lend more credence to the Aether-attraction arguement, A common theme of the 'ripped up' terrain seems to be that it seems to be made of a yellowish crystalline material. This is definitely a different material than the current blue Aetheryte seen in both Mor Dhona and the teleport points.

True.. from what I've seen, one of the major limitations of the "Echo" is that you can view the past but you can never change it... I think they wanted to stress that the echo isn't time travel... it is only viewing a persons memories...
If you used the echo on me... you'd see things from my perspective, and you'd never see anything that I didn't see

Edit: Unless they pull out the Jake Gyllenhaal "Source Code" / Denzel Washington "Deja Vu" deal.... where the main character is told he can only view the past and can't intervene or change it, and he ends up finding a way to do just that

Perhaps Dalamud contains aether's opposite, which is pulling it closer, in essence anti-aether, however that could just be how that pic shows the light, thats what it looks like to me.

FFV is one of only 2 FF games I have not played so I can't comment on that "FFV direction" idea. A picture of what could happen is starting to take shape now.
