If without any NPC male viera and female hrotgar are already the 2 most requested features in the game's history, with NPCs (for any of the two) you can expect riots so massive that SE would be forcing themselves to add them regardless of whatever it takes. They have even stated multiple times they will never add a model from something thats requested into the game as an NPC and not make it playable. They have also said they need to elarn how to manage player expectations better and assuming SE found a problem that didnt allow them to add the missing genders at 6.0, they wouldnt add any NPC for them at all
What was their excuse for not showing any on the First? I haven't done any sidequest where it's mentioned yet.
Also, another question. I don't know if its location is already known, but where exactly is Bozja? I always think it's somewhere in the east of Garlemald, but I don't actually remember them ever saying where it's located.
Meanwhile, every single glamour I have is the floppy bunny ears. It started off as a minor protest slash joke, but has since turned into something known as my thing due to a combination of not bothering to glamour anything different and still feeling somewhat committed to minor protest.
The Burn was caused by the Allagans draining the area's aether dry to raise Azys Lla into the sky. Bozja is a lot more recent than that.

So that region of the world.
imo we should definitively be patient. Im confident they will likely put them at 6.0, and until then there's not really a need for protest. We have made it more than clear that a lot of people want it and theyve already told us that if they can they will do so, we just need to wait and be patient
I suspect they'll make at least one that we can see (just maybe we can't interact with her), and she'll likely be so "special" that, even if they were to release female Hrothgar into character creation, players would not be able to recreate her image.
That being said, I don't mind having lots of male Hrothgar. In fact, I hope there will be a cave or something where I can just go and squeeze myself middle of the bodies of a pride/gaggle/club/harem/murder/group/whole mess of Hrothgar.
In lore reason, there has been no excuse. Real life excuse, they were literally cutting it down to the wire just to get Hrothgar out the door for the expansion. They most likely did not have the time to create the female models before the expansion release, and their new dungeon release schedule (1 dungeon only each patch) may be an attempt to get the dungeon team's help so they're able to get the female Hrothgar (and male Viera) models ready for the next expansion.
I also think that. I really hope that they dont really sacrifice 'actual' (playable) content for them. As much as I seriously want male viera, we have to look at the bigger picture here, and more people will want to play the actual game than those that want to play as a male viera or female hrotgar
I'm just happy to see somebody else acknowledge that content for the game itself is more important then pushing to get Male Viera and Female Hrothgar.
And that odds are if we get them, it's better that it should happen Next Expansion.
We don't NEED 2 new dungeons every major patch, but I do hope there is a good trade off for both current ShB content, and future Expansion Content. Not limited to the 2 races.
Also if they add any female Hrothgar they'll probably give her the Yugiri treatment until the end of the expac or relic grind and then give her a real model for female hrothgar.
Honestly, I wouldn't be against that. Or even if they tease us with a (maybe Semi-) Important NPC to show them off. Just like Fran showed off the Viera in-game.
Heres to praying..dear Goddess in the Sky I am hoping, they stay a BEAST race. And not be all soft faced Humans with a few cat features. Giving us a 2nd version of the Miqote will make me rage like a MF.
Then I also hope just like the Males they will base the Females of the Roe as well.
I'm a little surprised. You've clearly been following the male viera thread pretty closely due to how often you've been posting in it, so I would have thought you'd have seen that pretty much every active poster there has been saying that very thing - that they'd rather not see actual content sacrificed for the sake of seeing the missing genders added to the game.
Though with Square Enix being such a wealthy and influential company I don't think it's unreasonable to hope for and push for the best of both worlds - with the game receiving a bigger budget/more developers so that we can get new content and the missing genders added within a reasonable time-frame.
The problem comes down to defining what actual content is. A lot of people would consider character customisation and appearance to enhance their enjoyment of the content. Whereas, you can count on a single hand how many people enjoy PVP in this game. Okay, perhaps an exaggeration, but it's a tiny, tiny minority, and yet they keep pouring money down this sink hole and still it shows little improvement. Ultimately, I do think they fall prey to the sunk cost fallacy at times with several forms of content. Maybe they'll eventually hit the right notes with PVP, who knows, but they should be priorisiting their resource flow in terms of where it enhances the product the most. It's questionable that they always do that.
I think with them cutting down a few dungeons per expansion, they will free up team resources to do a number of other things, depending on how they use them. Dungeons are pretty intensive in terms of how much they need to design, and ultimately, for a project like converting the textures to high res (previously, they gave an example of a trade-off for implementing this as being a reduction in the output of new gear... which I don't think is something most players would truly mind), it is gruntwork which does not require a hugely specialised skillset, either within the company or Japan. My hope is that they're gearing up to improve on the graphics for 6.0 and are reducing their workload elsewhere with this in mind. I also hope that there will be more of a focus on giving the existing jobs interesting abilities for 6.0... and no doubt, they're considering how to go about a new healer.
Where people lose faith is when nothing comes in to replace the content being cut... but for now, I wait and see.
I honestly think that female Hrothgar and male Viera will eventually come to the game. Making a new race requires a lot of development but I believe that they will eventually arrive since the Hrothgar and the Viera are the last two races in the game.
With that in mind, I wouldn't be surprised if they do add placeholder NPC models for female Hrothgars.
what I mean by actual content is things like raids dungeon quality 24 man raids pvp zones. Combat related things. Also crafting related. I personally wouldn't mind there being less galmours which there already are a huge amount of or perhaps a couple less mounts or emotes or things related to side activities like those to finish both genders of the new races (the current ones seem liek something way too amateurish for ffxiv imo) but I really would not want the devs to remove scheduled raids limited jobs pvp scenes dungeons etc for the sake of a side activity which there's already a decent amount of options on like customization is
Well, they've already cut a dungeon per every other patch, so the question now is what they're going to do with the freed up resources. People had said dungeons were a red line but the loss of those 2 dungeons over an expansion doesn't seem to have gone down too poorly. I think the issue is that dungeons are increasingly falling into the bracket of content people do whilst farming experts and then forget about... there's no higher reward to them and they're not really any challenge, either. On the other hand, they require significant design work for what they are.
In all honesty, unless they were to introduce something like "savage" dungeons, it's really raids and trials which are priority content... and even then, they probably would stick to the new model of one dungeon per patch.
Personally, I am sceptical as to the value of both PVP and limited jobs, the latter being a novel creation, which many were opposed to on the eve of 5.0, and I hope they come under a re-assessment for 6.0. They probably have their hands tied with BLU, since it's now in and they promised to keep updating it, but as to adding any further ones, there really has to be a case that it's value for money before proceeding, and also that it would not dilute their focus on proper DOW/DOM jobs.
Of course, I would agree that the missing genders alone are a slightly niche project, but if the goal is to update overall customisation, textures and graphics for 6.0, and by implication also make it easier to add those, it's harder to argue this would not be more value-additive than some content with low uptake but high maintenance or addition costs being cut, especially when it could expand the game's lifespan and increase interest in it.
Yeah, there's a huge amount of ugly glamour options available, emotes they just sell on the mogstation (different team), and we barely EVER get new mounts unless they are added to the mogstation.
I'd rather have more cosmetic rewards than more limited trash viera/hrothgar personally. That or add me a lot of hair to my viera. Either way, more important than male viera/fem hrothgar.
Barely ever get new mounts unless they are on mogstation...? Reallllly? So the mount from blu doesn't count, or the one added to pvp? Oh wait lemme guess you just get mad if they don't give you a cool mount for free huh? The people with a hate boner for mogstation, you know that actually rarely do get updated with real new stuff is always hilarious.
"Omg, they put up 1 mount on mogstation! Grrrr how dare they even though there's a ton to earn in-game that vastly overshadows the shops amount but grrr I want everything for free or easy!"
You seem to be assuming a lot of things. I have spent hundreds on the mogstation. I have most of the outfits on the mogstation, and I usually buy multiple fantasias a month. I don't dislike the mogstation at all.
Yes, the mount from blu doesn't count. I didn't even know there was a mount for blu. I barely even acknowledge the existance of blue. I don't know where my blu weapon is. I haven't even played blu since the second day it came out. The one added to PvP is something I will never get. PvP is trash, and it takes a miracle from Jesus Christ to even win. I don't even have a hundred wins total in frontline. I do not get mad about this. You should read the things I actually get mad about. They are a lot more petty.
Who said I was complaining? And yes, I was replying to zeylos, that is a joke post. Christ almighty. Lord give me strength.
I literally never complain about the mogstation, and I could quote myself multiple times literally advocating for more to be added to the mogstation. I put "(different team)" because the mogstation team is a different team, so getting items added to that in no way hinders the actual development of the game. Again, you are assuming a lot of things. Did you wake up on the wrong side of the hammock?
Bah nevermind Sturm, I did indeed read that wrong. The way it was worded I thought you were complaining about mog as I've seen a lotta people say there's barely any ingame and only place to get mounts is mog.
So indeed my mistake. And yes BLU is a pathetic existence. Hope they never do a limited job again.
Probably get the same reasoning as to why there's no male Vii on the first. "They're around, just separate"
Though I think there's a low chance. Maybe 15% or 20% of them using the opportunity to preview female Hrothgar models. If they're planning on eventually releasing them for 6.0 I mean. I dont think they'd upset anyone by doing this cause it would imply they'd be coming eventually.
They are at home. Cooking, cleaning, raising babies... :D
This is why n ofemale hrotgar makes literally no sense lore-wise. So, for the viera race, viera in general make no sense specially the amount that there is, and there is literally no reason as to why the males arent playable. For hrotgar, if anything, lore-wise they'd be female only. Females do whatever they want and the majority fo the men (helions) follow their orders and only live to serve their queens
Lore is whatever suits the developers at that moment, so I'm sure they'll make something up.
I think if they were to show them it is likely to be towards the end of the content, kinda like how they handled Yugiri for the Au Ra and Fran for the female Viera. I also think its likely they will be added in 6.0 but given expansion cycles 6.0 should be a system heavy expansion over a feature heavy. So we might not get them at all - I do think the devs are aware of the desire for them and given they were shocked over the controversy I wouldnt be surprised if they didnt factor that into the runway for 6.0. For now im hopeful for both Male Viera and Female Hrothgar would be added in the future. I am also of the mind that I don't need them to be playable, I just want to see them in the game in some format. For me its more about having a plausible world - and the bottom line is creating a handful of NPC's is a lot easier than creating 2 genders for the race. If that is the compromise I have to accept then so be it.
At least this necro is somewhat relevant but no they are not all dead if that was the case they probably would have written hrothgar to be more like Galka
The day we see female Hroth and Male Viera is the day they might become playable (Squeenix only said “no new races” after all, and they’re not new races :V).
I still wouldnt get my hopes up. Its much easier to make a handful of one off NPCs then to do all the work to make an extra race playable. The NPC will only ever wear one outfit(so you dont need to model everything in the game), it might not ever move(doesnt need a full set of animations), and it will likely only ever do any emotes in a cutscene. It really just needs an idle pose, and an active one. They could mock up a female hroth as simply as putting a hroth head on a female roe body. Put it in an outfit that obscures that. Then pick a set of animations(say... male hroth for movement, female midlander for arm motions and idle). Boom. Done. Quick and dirty. And not at all playable.
