Blue Mage: Are you kidding me!?

I think it's a bit late to go for a full on support role in the game. That could have worked in ARR, but two expansions in I think adding a fourth role would be a bit much without another huge overhaul to the game.

That said, it could have been a 'support dps' like Bard that's mainly a dps but brings a good deal of utility as well.

Im rly lucky with the "Limited Job" idea and the upcoming BLU and the content which is tied to it.
We have enough WoW Clones out there where the only endcontent is raids only ... FF14 is going new ways to provide a new area for endcontent, BLU is not for everyone and i think this is a good choice.
We have all in mind, a class or job work like in other mmorpg but this is final fantasy i want to play a bluemage without restriction in fights or imagine a Gambler ... who would take a Gambler with in a raid ( if u are lucky enough he kill the whole party with his skills XD)
So this can be a great chance for crazy final fantasy stuff which we all loved in the solo titel :)

Seeing as astro is this games gambler, I would say everyone would take a gambler seeing as they're white mages with utility XD

But I get it. Blue carnival seems fun. But just like chocobo racing, and lords or vermilion, after an hour when you're done all the challenges there is nothing left to do at level 50, except ask your friends to stop enjoying the new expansion and play 4 year old content with you until your job can leave mor dhona

I'm glad FF XIV is trying new stuff, but let's be honest, blue mage is a side activity, not a new form of end game content.

TBH im the last one who can say "yes" or "no" im just a user of the FF14 client like we all ...
But i believe in the Dev-Team of FF14 and their way of an unique MMO experience and maybe so the definition of endcontent.

What if Blue Mage was a melee DPS that dealt magic damage and had strong defensive support like Red Mage? It would open up all caster comps and still bring something new. Though I do understand what you're saying. I'd rather have waited til the time was right for whatever role they'd decided to put Blue Mage in than have a Blue Mage that can't actually play FFXIV.

My point was assuming it would be a 'casting' dps. They could have tweaked into a magical melee support dps, sort of like an inverse bard, but that would also mean stepping away from the 'mage' part of the job a bit.

7 years I waited for blue mage, basically since jobs were added to 1.0 version.

Words cannot describe my disgust and contempt at being resigned to some side attraction and never being able to actually play the game as the job that I love. I cannot forgive this.

To those saying "it isn't really that bad" or "just wait, SE will fix it", have you already forgotten 1.0? People said SE would "fix" that too before release, but we all know how that went. There was no excuse then, and there's no excuse now.

And to those who shrug and say they aren't interested in blue mage so this doesn't affect them, I ask you this: would you like it if your job was a limited job? Would you still want to play red mage, samurai, summoner, if they too became limited jobs? Where will your hype be if the suspected dancer and gunblade classes are also limited? I suspect the answer is most everyone would be universally unhappy.

Blue mage being entirely unfunctional in the vast majority of the game is criminal. Blue mage has been my favorite job in the series for years, and the one that I eagerly anticipated the most. And yet, as it stands now, I would rather SE never implemented it at all than have this abomination of a job that I will never be able to play with my friends. Ever.

Honestly, classically using melee weapons and medium armor (except Strago, the old lout), and the fact that the quintessential baby's first Blue Magic Goblin Punch is melee, plus spells like Aqua Breath... I've always imagined that Blue Mage was better suited for melee anyway.

"With the role system, they just don't fit." "This is the only way they could put in blue mage." Yet every other Job it's fine to lower or change their abilities. It's fine to try and balance them, even if some are disappointed with certain ones (Such as Summoner). Fine, you're playing a white mage. Then you don't get your skills unless you gain enough AP to acquire them. Or would you rather wear armor that has your skills on it, or magicite that gives you abilities, and you can't unequip them until you've mastered them. Maybe a sphere grid you have to go through to learn them? Or FF11 route and find scrolls in shops or on monsters.

Hmmm? You're saying that those aren't applicable because they're single player games? And that FF11 is an old way of doing MMOs that just doesn't work in modern MMOs anymore? Huh... Funny that... Now then, back to making sure Blue mage HAS to collect every single ability in the game otherwise it's not blue!

Coincidentally I think 24 is the max we can slot using that hotbar thing, but seriously out of the 49 abilties, they couldn't take 10-24 of them and make a rotation/set skills like a normal job would have? Heck it doesn't need a rotation that could be it's battle gimmick, using it's skills in any order the player chooses.

Ya, weird how that works huh? 24 is a rather common number in Blue Mage spells it seems.. and we just happen to have about 24 abilities... Hmmm...

What my hotbar looks like on my Dark Knight. 36 slots taken up. Sure, some are role actions, one is sprint, and another is duty action but you know. Still quite a lot of buttons there. (In fact, 6 more buttons than the highest Blue Mage spells outside of Final Fantasy XI )

I find it odd that people are saying they can't play with their friends with a Blue Mage, because you can, just not endgame content from the get go.
You can always go in a dungeon, trial or raid with a premade party. I don't see why you wont be able to go for savage at the end of the day if they'll up the level to max.

From my point of view SE is just beta testing their new idea of a class, its normal that SE isn't going to introduce a potential OP class when there is still prestige content such as Ucob or Uwu being progressed on.

For now just enjoy the beta of the blue mage class, give SE feedback and see how it grows. Personally I like the approach they are taking, this is what makes FFxiv so attractive to play for casuals, not all content that gets released is part of the endgame gear treadmill. Some savage raiders tend to forget that its not all about raiding.

As it is now, Blue Mage can be played by anyone with anyone till level 50. You just will not be able to use the dungeon finder which is fine. I don't want to queue for a Qarn run where 2 Blue Mages can only auto attack and cast one spell. Nor do I wish to be a part of their quest to obtain a certain skill from a specific type of mob in said dungeon which would potentially double the amount of time that would be required to finish said dungeon. You can do this solo or with "friends".

Yes, my friends are very eager to go into a dungeon from ARR. That's not the point though. Nothing they've said makes me believe they are using this as a beta test.

I fear for the day that this bites more in the butt, because now they have a lazy excuse to not try to think outside the box anymore. "We thought for three hours on how to make [Insert Class Here] work in our game, and we couldn't think of anything so here's a mini game." I can almost guarantee you that if they had thought of this idea in Heavensward, we would not have Red Mage right now.

We'd have Red Jamboree. It's a game where you go in and have to balance between killing a monster, and healing NPCs. Make sure to use Paralyze correctly, otherwise the monsters might overwhelm you while you're trying to heal an NPC. You'll love it because it's nostalgic of Final Fantasy XI, because the monsters are slightly slower than normal running speed, meaning you can DoT and run it in circles. Please look forward to it.

The issue is that the blue mages are tooled to not be in a group, and that being in one is going to be a broken unfun mess as they said so themselves
It's literally a minigame and playing with friends will be only used for moves that are in particularly dangerous instances like bahamut prime. This is not something to play with friends.

It's not just "no dungeon finder that's all!" it's not a real job, and instead is used as hunt logs with RNG.
Besides, it's not like this mode has to be exclusive to a real job that can do all content as a standard job should. They could add a separate job crystal that uses the same moves and effects retooled into a real job with mechanics.

I'm a big fan of that part in Final Fantasy IX where you pick up Quina, and then, because you can't put them in the normal party, you have to go over and only play that frog mini game that they have where they collect frogs. It's real good for killing monsters on the overworld, but have you ever tried to take Quina into a boss? It just locks you out unless you're fighting only disc 1 bosses. Anything past disc 2 though, don't think about it.

You can always make new friends, there will be plenty of Blue Mages out there who will need their skill. You can also go in there unsync'd with a lvl 70.
There really is no need to tax complete strangers with your needs when they are just doing the duty for their MSQ or daily exp reward.

Let me re-paraphrase for you:
"You'd be upset if a blue mage went into a raid and used level 5 death and it didn't kill it " (can be wrong but I thought they were talking about how absurdly OP it would be for having a class that can use death V, but ok) - Translation: the content isn't designed for blue mages at the moment but we'll let you guys have fun with it right now all be it in a limited way because we are working on a new expansion right now for you guys. With that we can update ALL bosses to be resistant to death and other kind of overpowered abilities that would break encounters.

No, it is a real job, something actually true to its roots. Because it isn't for endgame content right away doesn't mean it can't grow into it eventually. Balancing a class can be a living nightmare. I mean look at ninja's, they have to settle for low dps compared to other classes because they just have trick attack.

So instead they say, ok, you can go to 50 right now, give us some data to look into and then later in another patch we will up the level cap.

That already happens though. I guarantee it'll happen with the new classes that they decided were okay enough to put in. Is apparently Blue mage a special flower that cannot be sullied under this? Apparently if I play Blue Mage, I will get 100x more upset about getting kicked out of a group than I already am for being kicked out as a Dark Knight?

Edit: Give me a real belief that they actually are doing the beta test thing. Find me something that actually sounds like they really are doing it that way. What you're saying does not fit with how and what they are saying. They've more or less said in the live letter that this was the only way they could think to make this okay. You keep saying "They're probably just using it as a beta test" but there's no proof other than the words they've said which is Yoshida doesn't think Blue mage works in FF14 at all, and the only way they could think to make it work is as side content. Find me a quote that says there's hope, because everything they've said makes it sound like when they run out of ideas, they'll up our level maybe.. 5 levels, add a few more blue mage spells and say "go do the Colosseum again." then maybe, just maybe, we'll be 75 by the time 6.0 comes out.

Remember how when they added the Music feature to Bard, they said they weren't sure about it. They were worried we were going to use it to make songs outside of the game, and that this was only a test period? All I need from them is "This is a test period to see if this can work." A hard quote or even a vague quote. "We'll level it in later patches" is not even a vague quote. It is a "This is golden saucer, and we use it when it helps us".

But if they came out today and said "This is a test to see if players can be trusted with this kind of job." Today. I would apologize right now for everything I've said in this thread, and play it the day it comes out. Trust me when I say I WANT to be proven wrong.

They actually frown upon the behavior of excluding classes from content just because of their toolkit or lack there of. I mean look at Eureka, they frowned upon the fate train and they made sure to kill it. In Pyros there isn't even a train anymore and in Pagos you can stand for an hour in front of a spawning point with the entire instance and nothing can spawn.

So don't put it past them to eliminate that mentality if they frown upon it.

And no, I don't have any evidence or insider information that they are actually beta testing the class. Its just logical to assume that when they have a new idea or concept of something they would give it a trial run to gather more data without bringing a potential imbalance to the prestige endgame. And yes, potd or hoh solo is also seen as prestige. Those title's aren't easy to get.

Honestly, some of you really act as if the sky is falling just because BLU isn't a straight up combat class from the get go. Try it out, see at what speed they are upping the level cap and then let us judge how bad SE is.

This isn't "balanced for end game content"
It's literally created to not participate in it on a design level.

this isn't a balance issue, this is a decision to try and preserve the class fantasy when, as people have said and given examples of, we don't have to choose. Why not have this minigame as a thing alongside a properly designed job that can play the other 80% of the content on a properly formatted job with mechanics.
We can have both and they don't need to use new assets as they're all there.

The only thing saying the class fantasy can't interact with the core mechanics are people giving up early and deciding that the vast majority of people that wanted the job in the game should give up on using it as a normal job.

Like we've all said, even the developers, it's not a beta test for a real job. This is lacking mechanics, synergy, kit function, and actual function all for the sake of maintaining the class fantasy from 11's BLU- not even all BLU from other games!

BLU is a real job, just not the conventional combat class we are used to. It has its lore, quests, progression and its own endgame at the moment. Just because for now it can't participate in savage or roulette's doesn't mean it isn't an actual job. That's like saying crafters/gatherers aren't real jobs because you can't throw your anvil at the boss.

However what BLU can do is access all ARR content, all be it not through duty finder.

Correct me if I'm wrong but they never mentioned in the live letter that it would lack synergy or kit function. They merely feared that it would be imbalanced in savage raids taking in consideration that the fights aren't designed with them in mind and that there may be loopholes players love to exploit giving them an unfair advantage. And that they feared that there would be a high requirement on the skills the BLU must have to join a random PF/DF party.

As someone that hasn't even been a huge fan of Blue Mage, even I'm disappointed at what has been shown of this "limited job". FFXIV has been praised numerous times for it's Duty Finder, allowing players to do old content without having to jump through hoops. Blue Mage being restricted from one of the things that FFXIV was praised for is a major disappointment.

The concerns for keeping the job's identity intact is also very weak, given that they've sacrificed the identity of Summoner, Dark Knight and Red Mage to make them work in FFXIV's system. I'm sure they could have easily had balanced the job's abilities to work in all content, while still allowing players to learn the abilities from monsters, instead of job quests. And if their concern was people going into Duty Finder without knowing any monster abilities, then impose a level cap on the class that only goes up after you've learned enough abilities.

I can understand keeping the class at a low level upon introducing it, so that you can work on balancing the class to make sure that it works right and isn't overpowered. But the fact that you seem like you won't even be raising the level cap to match that of other jobs by the time Shadowbringers is released makes me question what the point of the class even is, anyways. If the class won't be level 70-80 by the time Shadowbringers comes out, I'm not going to be able to use it in Shadowbringers areas, by pure virtue of the accuracy system relying on player level to determine your chance to hit. And if I'm going back to old zones for whatever reason, I'd rather do that on a powerful class that can handle the enemies without having to worry. Trying to go through any of these areas with a Blue Mage will seem more like a self-imposed challenge with no benefit.

And, all criticism intended, I have zero hopes for Masked Carnivale being any sort of meaningful content. You've proven time and time again with any content that's not a standard dungeon, trial or raid ultimately ends up being a flop and forgotten about. Diadem saw little to no support and you introduced weapons five item levels higher than the raid weapons that drop at random in a desperate attempt to entice people to go back in and that stopped working when people realized the incredibly low odds of getting a weapon to drop, much less get a weapon with decent stats. Eureka was teased for ages prior to the launch of Stormblood and what did it end up being when Anemos dropped? Nothing but a mindless grind with nothing that interesting implemented outside of the Magia Wheel, and even that isn't that interesting. And then when people found a way to make the content more bearable, you decided to punish players by designing Pagos to be as unfriendly as possible. If you wanted chaining to be a thing, you shouldn't have made the instance hold 144 people; there's no way that many people could come to an agreement on how to split up the very limited number of same-level enemies to chain. If Masked Carnivale actually does prove to be something new, interesting and exciting, and continues to grow and develop, then I will be incredibly impressed, but I'm not going to get my hopes up given how things like Diadem and Eureka ended up being.

Honestly, for me - I personally never liked BLU as a class overall, but I loved their weapon. Then they went into more details about it being SOLO unless "hurrdurr if you already have a party you can go into dungeons" but you can't use roulettes or anything? So I went from "Maybe, just maybe, I'll level this class." to "Nope, lost all interest." To me, it portrays itself as a way for SE to make people shut up about BLU because people kept bringing it up. "Well, we weren't serious! BLU was just a meme and we were making jokes!" Well, because you made jokes you now get to deal with the consequences of your actions. (Mind you, this is an actual conversation that I witnessed in Shout Chat in Ul Dah.)

I'd like to point out to people who keep calling it a "Job, so they obviously will eventually make it available for content", with no proof of anything that they're saying, that it isn't a job. If you've watched... Literally anything... they very clearly gave it a new name. "Limited Job". Yes.. It has the word Job in it, but as with things such as... You're... Your... or There.. Their.... They're. They're all very similar words, but in context to sentences they change the meaning of it quite a lot!

So, while I would love to believe that this is a beta test, you can hear in the live letter, Yoshida once again pleading with people to understand that this is how it has to be, in line with things such as asking for a butt slider in the character customization. And hanging his head when the audience makes noises of disapproval.

Gawd guys, its the first "limited job" with special content ... did u consider SE and the Dev team of FF14 want expant their portfolio in case of MMORPG?
This "limited job" thing is a chance not a punishment, lets wait and see how endgame will change for 5.0.
For me a bad ass broken solo class is extremly awesome cause u can do group FATES or stuff like Odin try to tackle alone cause BLU is a one men army and less and less ppl wont do older stuff.
At the moment we can only look through the glasses of now, but we rly dont know what every else will change in FF14 its 1 out of 3 Fan Festivals and a huge change in the battle system is in the pipeline too, so be patient guys.
Look at diadem, now its eureka SE is not BLIZZARD wich add content to make them decay in the future, everything tied well together after a while.... so relax and enjoy new things ( truly new things and not painted over old walls over and over againe)

I like how people keep changing the argument in this threat. It goes from "It's a real job, they're just working on it!" to "It's just a new type of content like diadem and eurkea, give it a shot before you talk!" (Which by the way, great examples. Those were both real fun and not tedious at all) to "Well, Blue mage wouldn't work like we all said, so see?" are like missing the point.

This is not some attraction they're adding, like the golden saucer. This is an iconic class that has been in multiple games that deserves to be allowed into EVERY PART OF CONTENT. No exceptions. The Carnival thing would be neat, indeed, I'd say even great content if it was added and even made as like a solo pve thing for ALL CLASSES to enjoy. Give it a separate set of abilities such as you get in PVP and let everyone enjoy it.

Imagine the new Smash Brothers comes out, and Pikachu is in the game, your favorite character maybe, but you can only play it in 100 multi kill mode. It's there, you can see it, you can even play it. Though for whatever reason in the coding it won't let you play it. Even if you don't like Pikachu, you'd be pretty confused!

Consider the Fact FF14 is not WoW where ALL ppl are hungry for raid content only, maybe just a little bit is BLU and their way of gameplay exactly what they had wished for ?

You might be right. In fact I'm certain you're right that carnival will be fun. Most things they release are fun. Not what I'm talking about but I agree.

Also so we're clear, they are still adding other jobs one of which will most likely be a dps, or even without a dps added all the people who play dps are still going to level a dps most likely so you're still going to have that problem. It's only manageable now because everyone is leveled and content is spread out. When the expansion comes out, everyone will be racing to 80.

This isn't about wanting to play a dps though. This is wanting an iconic class in all content. ALL.

And againe u picked just one small point out of it to make ur arguments stronger as they are...

U should know what Yoshida did for the game which was already to shut down...u know his decitions made this game very big, so why is this "hurt" about the BLU, tell me ... why are u that mad about ONE point he cant YET do (dutyfinder with rnd) even its not live, is there absolutly no trust in the dev team of FF?

Beside the fact we all play mostly 2 jobs and more ( seldom someone play one job only ), good to have a job who cant roll on stuff which u get in dutyfinder but maybe equip equal like someone is raiding?
Look, for some ppl is this a doomsday, for others its a chance but both sites can make final desitions until its live and complet in 5.X

We were told the blue carnival will have about 75 challenges broken down into 3 stages, so basically like chocobo racing, or lord of vermilion challenges.

Its very easy to see why people are worried about Blue mage. Every patch we receive less and less content (going from 3 dungeons a patch in arr, To 2 dungeons a patch in HW, and now 1.5 every patch in SB) because resources are directed towards other ventures. These other projects (eureka, diadem, Lord of vermillion) are not popular to the majority of players, and it shows there is a huge disconnect between what is being developed and what people want.

Because of this disconnect, and how all these other projects have been received, blue mage fans are worried this means after you finish your three stages of blue carnival, they're going to have to unsub for a year or so before they have anything else to do as blue mage

But tbh i unsubed in 4.X cause we where in the same spiral like we where in 2.0 and 3.0 all content was the same just other costume.
So ... yeah for some ppl its unfair BLU has to be the blue sheep to spice up content... and dude its not like chocobo racing or lord of vermillion ... those content provide anything outside for player than CR and LoV itself... the Blue Carnival has the chance to privde something outsite this box, beside u can use the BLU everywhere else except dutyfinder rnd.

None of the FF jobs would've worked into this MMO in their old state. All of them had to be adapted. SE did a good job with jobs like BLM and RDM and a bad job with SMN, but they did it for 14 jobs and now they are telling us they can't do it for BLU?

I understand that some people are excited because that's new and they like to play solo...but...what the hell is even the reason in playing BLU for everyone else? If he stays away from max level, you can't do roulettes, you cant do high level content etc. All you can do is low level content with 3 friends that will do it because...yes, why? Why would people do that except leveling lower jobs or farm glamour? They just cut out BLU from like 80% of the actual game.

And with every patch that adds new things, BLU will be cut out from more and more content. New 8 man raid? BLU can't do it. New 24 man raid? BLU can't do it. New trial? BLU can't do it. New MSQ? BLU can't do it.
What is this job supposed to be beneath a side content? A low level glamour farm Job?

BLU is only caped with 4.5 at lvl.50 with 5.0 it will raise his lvl-cap too.
But help me out my friend, if u login with 7 friends to do trials this wont also work for BLU ?

A bit confused about Deep Dungeon... thought BLU can do this type of content cause DD is solocontent Oo*shrug*

For me im done here in this Forum, its repeating over and over againe with no end about a topic which isnt live.

With "stupid" I meant the statement of the developers, that they couldn't fit BLU in parts of the game like raids, dungeons etc., without destroying the job fantasy/old concept of the job, even though they did it with all 14 other jobs (some better, some worse).
So no reason beeing offensive. Please let's keep this discussion on a factual level.

We don't know yet when and how far BLU's level cap will be raised. If it's raised to 80 with 5.0 (for e.g.) and it actually can do raids and trials with other people and works fine in there, it's absolutelly okay for me.

But right now it "seems" (and this is really just pure speculation here) like this won't be the case and BLU will be excluded from so much content people would like to play with it. And in my opinion this would just be sad, since BLU is such a cool concept.

I guess the only thing we can do right now is waiting for more information, try it out and give feedback to SE.

The discontent comes from people who can't raid Ucob and Uwu, because thats where alot of the time is going. Ucob and Uwu can't be done by the vast majority of the players. Still they gave the raiders this content. Same goes for Eureka, its still being done, secretly there are some who even enjoy the content! The reason why we get "less content" (oh noes one dungeon) is so we can get more different content to appease other players with a wider variety of content, this is ffxiv's charm. Everything can be done rapidly, omega can be cleared in 2 hours on tuesday, your weekly donations and the watching of cutscenes are done in 10 minutes for the rebuilding of Doman's enclave. There are alot of little things in this game, but when you do them all it actually turns out that there is alot to do.

BLU on the other hand, gets hours an hours of play time of the get go. You won't have all your skills in the first few days and even if you did, you spend plenty(60+) of hours on said content. And hey, they brought out an entire class in a patch, that is where your dungeon went for example.

Honestly if the reason you sub is only raiding or BLU or ??, then ask yourself why you play this game, because there is ALOT of content out there.

Dungeons are generally universally appealing. The main sell of Final Fantasy 14 is a fairly standard RPG set in an MMO world.

It is one thing to develop side content, it is another if the main cake of the game is compromised for this side content. My main annoyance is that FF14 implements a plethora of features, but fails to follow up or complete any of them. They're diversions at best, and many of them you get everything you ever will out of them after 15 minutes.

You all do realize Blue Mage, Isn't the same as summoner, black mage, red mage. "Oh just grab some of it's abilities and make a dps rotation out of them?" well have any of you gone and taken the time to go look at Blue Mage's recurring skills and game specific skills? I have. Most of the skills as written are broken and would need massive reworks to fit in the ideals of this game. Some that would mean that the classic abilities you know and love... don't feel anything like their original blue magics. then most of you would be on these forums screaming. "WHY DID THEY CHANGE THIS BLUE MAGIC.. THIS ISNT BLUE MAGE THIS IS A TESTAMENT TO INEPTITUDE!"... over and over and over again. Blue Mage skills aren't tailored to this kind of game, and yes there are certain ways to make it work, each of you has come up with a thousand different ways blue mage could work as a full job in this game, and each one of you made compromises somewhere that took away a bit of what blue mage is, to get it into this game. Most of you probably took more away from what a blue mage is and how it feels than what the Dev Team has done. You're mad or worried or upset with what they've done?... you haven't even given it a chance yet.


So let's look at the facts. Fact one: Raising this kind of hell now. Accomplishes nothing because of the fact that. WE HAVENT PLAYED IT YET! Most of you have condemned it to death without even giving it a chance. Wait to blow up the forums until after you've got your hands on it. Spent some time with it.


Fact Two: Given that they are looking to incorporate other possible jobs into this limited role. The chances of them leaving this content behind are not real good. It wouldn't do to serve them if they just drop and forget this content so it's not chocobo racing and it's not lords of verminion. Blue mage is not a minigame people. It's content the Dev Team worked hard to give us, to give us a traditional blue mage feel.


Fact Three: The "We will never get to end game content" is a lie. Because you don't know that. You don't know what the future holds for Blue Mage anymore than I do. This is speculation at best, and that's where most of this frustration is coming from. We did not really get as much information about blue mage as we would have liked. We have no idea what the future plans are for blue mage or if it's spot in this limited system is a consistent thing or whether they are using it as a sort of sandbox test run, and before you argue that square should have told us this. Square-Enix is never going to openly tell you that they are testing out experimental new content on the players and that they'll change based on feedback. They just wouldn't.


Fact Four: and i'm going to stress this one.. YOU HAVENT EVEN PLAYED IT YET!

This kind of echo chamber gloom and dooming is why I tend to avoid the official forums. I get why people are upset, but there’s a lot of dramatic overreaction in this thread. I waited for musketeer to come out, going back to the 1.0 beta, only to get MCH. But I don’t let it get in my way of enjoying the game as a whole.

BLU is not out yet. We also don’t fully know what SE’s idea is with fully realized level 80 BLU is. I mained BLU in FFXI and though I’m not the happiest that it won’t exist in the same way in this game as it did in that one, I can understand the reasoning. Spell acquisition in this game works differently than in FFXI, and things aren’t as loose. In FFXIV, spell hunting was a very big aspect of that job’s identity so if they streamlined the job to work with XIV, people still wouldn’t be happy.

I think at this point there’s nothing we can say that will change how the job will come out in 4.5. Best we can do at this point is take a deep breath and wait until January/February and see how it plays out. Worst that can happen is that it sucks and no one plays it and we go back to our regularly scheduled programming of not having BLU like how it’s been the past 7 years or so and SE learns a lesson.
