As far as events go, if you don't have a problem with how many there are, but want them to be longer, there's a rift between how to get there, because if their events are pre-planned, then they obviously know what they need to put out and how much staff they need to do it, and so on. It's not going to change unless something changes from their end, not ours.
How is a grind fun? Depending on the activity, it can be, but usually it isn't. FATEs are the problem here because it's all they fall back on. But let's say they do introduce a grind... how would you make it fun? Because fun for you might not be fun for someone else, granted, FATEs aren't fun for anyone, but at the very least it was a different way of doing the FATE for the Starlight Celebration, same with the FATE we had a while back for the Hatchingtide event.
So you are saying you want less events so that the resources go into bigger events, eg. All Saint's Wake, Starlight Celebration and Moonfire? I mean, Heavensturn and Valentione's Day don't seem to be big events for most people.
