Parry is RNG and physical only. Tenacity is a set percent against all damage all the time. And of course still the whole being only slightly weaker than actual DPS secondary stats thing. It is significantly more powerful than Parry could have ever hoped to be.

Thats gonna add up over the course of the fight, and while I'm not a fan of using the old accessories, and only really use them for solo stuff, I can see why people are inclined to use them.

parser chaser imo. due to gordias they think dps the only metric that matters, most haven't adjusted to SE changes.

The people who get into the level of damage a tank can do are the ones who have (generally) already gotten the basics of tanking down: Enmity and Mitigation. After that the next way to increase your play is to see how far you can push your damage while still maintaining threat and mitigation. This is even furthered when you play with the same group as your reliance on tank stance becomes less. The issue is when players who do not have those basics mastered try to hit the next level, but that's a problem from a player standpoint not knowing their own skill, less than a design of the game.

I mained PLD in 2.0 at the games early access even. Ive seena TON of patch notes since then. The scaling has been off forever. They boost enmity for tanks like all the time, that is just cutely explained this last go round to help new tanks. You know how much harder it was before 20+ patches? Theyve buffed it to the moon and back and still keep buffing it. It doesnt scale right because they keep lobotomizing tanks every expansion or midway through, change its stats to meet a stupid dps criteria. This is what Im fighting about, they dont have it right now, even

There was even one cute buff patch they boosted shield oath, but forgot to disable its effects while switching to sword oath. PLD were tanking like OG's while in Sword Oath. Ive seen a lot of "fixes" all they do is boost enmity and try to curb tank damage. IT DOESNT WORK

Then have bosses hit like freight trains so we need HP and cooldowns. Even then, people would probably just keep a WAR around for tankbusters since they can just Holmgang a lot. Heck with STR pieces Living Dead is actually easier to heal up if your tank has less HP due to how Zombie works.

Because tanks have nothing else to improve. Stacking all that vit and having stupid hp doesn't actually help since they had enough to not die before that, it does not end the fight faster, nor does it actually help healers since they will pre-cast for a buster anyways. This leaves tanks without a means to feel like their gear helping or making them stronger, and their toolsets don't help much with that either. Increasing DPS is the only thing tanks have in this game to feel like their class is improving. Design issues.

Yeah if you check my post history you can see I've been arguing that there are issues with the way tanks are designed in FFXIV, and because I've played TERA, I know it can be better than it is now.

Tenacity is poopoo and so are Tank accessories. I think majority of tanks have just have accepted it and moved on. I mean you can't be mad all the time right.

2 reasons.

1) If you in a raid environment and you wipe to enrage and you see that your tank is doing half the DPS he could be, it's something that needs to be addressed. Holding hate isn't enough, you must also be able to bring good deeps.
2) Tanking is boring and to break from the monotony you can optimise your DPS while still fulfilling your role.

What part of they want tanks to to tank people dont understand? o.O; They made it that way because thats how they want tanks to be less dmg more tanking. Maybe a bit upgrade on Tenacity it's what they need. We dont need to bring str accesories back or anything.

I don't think you really know how good Strength is, especially when you have enough HP to survive content. If they want tanks to not use Strength accessories they need to completely bar them from it.

I don't understand why we have more offensive abilities than defensive ones. I don't understand why I have like 16 abilities that scale off str and only one that scales off vit. I don't understand what I'm suppose to do while off tanking, other than wait for my turn to "do what a tank does". Just to name a few.

Just please, please stop with this false narrative that tanks have to pick "tanking" or "dps". Why is so hard for people to understand that we can do both? "Tanking" is only so effective up to the point where you can not optimize any more. At that point what is the harm of maximizing your dps. Not to sound cliche, but isn't the best defense the death of the target?

You demand photographic proof that tenacity is terrible and then provide your evidence of tenacity not being terrible as anecdotal evidence from watching your g/f do dungeons and omega. There are enough tests out there now that I would say the burden of proof is shifted onto those who believe the stat has merit.

You say to test stuff in content where it matters and not test it on a dummy yet you don't seem to realize that in order to accurately test the effects of a stat you have to control for variables. Testing stats in actual combat cannot control for variables like testing on a dummy can. The dummy doesn't change, the dummy isn't PUG healers, the dummy isn't moving and forcing mechanics. Your knowledge of performing tests may not be as fool proof as you believe it to be if you can't see this. There is a reason that stats have been tested on dummies since the inception of the game.
