Really with that though, why even play? You paid for a game, and then paid for max level and completion. Kind of defeats the purpose of buying the game in the first place, wouldn't it. .-.

We had different experiences, that's cool that's what discussions about.
I'm not sure how I'm supposed to make people in my dungeons do the very basics of their job when even a hint of trying to help is met with stoney silence or being swore at though, or were you insinuating I'm "bad" or caustic in some way?
I'm not, I'd just like things to go smoothly without constantly dps'ing healers and tanks that don't use their emnity combos dropping F bombs everywhere.
Nice strawman. Not what i'm asking for or what other people are asking for, so don't try and post that bull to dismiss the argument. People just want a way to level 60 so they can get to the content that matters without grinding again and again and again to get those 60 levels, dungeons they already know and have already done, or other equally mind numbingly boring options such as spamming frontline after frontline or PotD. And let's be honest here, it's going to be PotD or frontline spam if you're not leveling a healer/tank because the queue's for dungeons is ridiculous as dps.
They aren't asking for an instant 70 potion and everything cleared potion, nor is that going to be the next step if they do allow you to get multiple 60 boosts.
So honestly tell me what is the point in enforcing this exactly for people that have already leveled a job to max? Because I cannot see one. It would not affect you in any way if they allowed this, why do you even care to begin with? Do you think it devalues your own 'achievement' of having the patience to endure a leveling grind? Because that's not much of an achievement at all. There's no hard work involved, no super skill, it's just tedium and time.
I thought it was only one potion per job per account. Like only 1 bard, 1 paladin, etc
I really don't get why jump potions are bad.
Most of the jobs play completely differently without all of their skills anyway, and most of the time they're mind-numbingly boring without them anyway. What does a BLM get from leveling all the way to 60 when an integral part of their rotation and probably their most important ability is aquired at level 60?
Not to mention I think they completely butchered leveling in general with all the removed skills, you get like one skill every 4 or 5 levels and most of the time they don't even work properly until you get another skill way later on, what's even the point of "learning" your job when you have to relearn it every time you get a new ability? Just give me everything and I'll work from there.
My take on potions would be 1 per character as opposed to 1 per account. They will remove that restriction eventually, but I like playing my alts, but would like to start playing higher tier stuff with them.
People already suck enough at their first boosted job, why would anyone want to see more of that?
As it stands, I feel that "boost" potions should have at least been restricted to needing a level 60 job on the account already so folks atleast understand basic mechanics.
That's false. You DO have the time, but you refuse to take it because you want instant gratification. You can easily chip away at another job with armory bonus, roulettes, PVP, fates, etc for just a few hours a day or even less. Might take a week or two but it'd be over before you know it.
The vast majority use the path of least resistance, which means PotD.
The fact that you do doesn't change that it is a reasonable assumption that everyone who uses a jump potion is likely to have used PotD in its stead if it wasn't available. A handful who don't don't change that being a reasonable assumption.
I hope you're kidding. Nothing screams P2W louder than cash item shops that let you gain experience faster. The armory bonus and well rested bonus already gives you 180%. Add 3-8% from a food consumable, add whatever the FC bonus is, and add the GC squadron bonus and you're already around 200%.
People use cheat tools, walkthroughs, wiki's, all the time on games they purchase. I'm surprised people don't just buy preowned save games.
Seems everyone is making two assumptions.
1. Everyone who buys a jump potion will be bad at the class they pick up.
2. Every who is bad used a jump potion.
Many people are just "bad" (read: Do not meet your standards of gameplay).
I have played SCH my whole FFXIV career (which admittedly hasn't been that long), but I struggle with the changes made in Stormblood.
After checking the forums I see this is an issue with SCH, so I decided to level another healer, because I love healing. So I jumped an AST. I don't believe I am bad at AST, am I still learning - sure, but I read some guides and got some tips from AST players in my FC. I'm happy for people in a duty to offer constructive criticism.
The key word there is constructive. Say something like "hey have you tried using X?" I will be more than happy to engage with you a and talk about what I can do to improve, if you belittle me and whine at me - not so much.
Please don't.
One unique job (or story) jump-potion is a compromise enough to allow new or time restricted players to join directly active friends in the game. More is not necessary, the game concept is a leveling RPG. Why not play a game where there is no class leveling at all if that's not your cup of tea.
Where does it stop? If someone does not have time for farm Tomes for his main or alt classes, they should also add end-gears to the Mogstation?
You put an effort to farm Tomes or Raid, you get nice equipment as reward.
You put an effort into leveling a class, you get a level 70 as reward.
I'm split on the OP's suggestion.
Firstly, I would not like to see multiple job pots offered to brand new players because there is no proper venue for them learn the class. For every job in this game, I believe learning come in 3 phases:
-Reading and understanding the skills.
-Solo/Role indifference practice (dummy practice/field combat/PotD/Fates)
-Group practice
The problem here is that even if you had a player who genuinely wants to learn their job, the 3rd and most important phase misses a proper venue. Players who buy jump pots for their first class, willingness to learn or not, will not be inclined to start from the lowest duty lvl and work their way up just to get group practice experience (especially if there's no hint from the game system to do so). If they're lucky, they'll end up maybe in low lvl instances several times like brayflox (lvl 32 I believe?) and get comfortable. If not, they end up in something like The Vault or some lvl 60 dgn.
And that's where the problem starts. Unless the player is basically a genius and can learn everything in one go, they will inevitably end up making basic rookie mistakes often that should not show up in a lvl 60 duty because the skills practiced on the field and the dummy, fates and PotD play out differently in a group format. TL;DR: No intermediate hall of novice, more likely to mess up in high lvled content.
And that's just ONE job.
Then there's the suggestion for multiple job pots for alts and players who played multiple jobs from start to finish. Which actually doesn't sound too bad IF--once again--the player is willing to put the effort in learning. However, the problem remains the same: lack of a proper venue (again, something like an intermediate hall of novice) for them to properly grasp the bulk of their jumped job without fear of reprisal and/or impeding other people in high leveled content. What I wouldn't have a problem with though is for example, say you already leveled a job from the ground up, like WAR and then you have an alt. Since you already know how to tank with the war and you have the money to buy a WAR jump pot, it should fine.
So to conclude, until the devs implement proper ingame thresholds for people who buy and use jump pots, I would like to see the limit remain.
I really don't get all the fuss being made here by some people and why they care so much what others do with their time and money to the point of being snarky about it.
Personally I could care less what people do. Players are bad with jump potions, players are bad even after leveling till lvl 70. I don't expect a sudden increase of failure in my trials, dungeons, etc. that wasn't there to begin with. I am also past the point of assuming everyone is enjoying the game the same way I do.
People like jumping expacs and only join the game for a month at best? So be it.
People dislike the whole leveling aspect an MMO offers and rather want to see the end game? Fine by me.
People enjoy crafting and gathering and barely ever engage in mob battles? Okay then.
How in the whole world is it threatening the fun I have while playing the game - unless of course I want to feel offended by it for the sake of being offended and having something to complain about.
Congratulations, you've "grinded" 70 levels in an MMO. The only achievement you've earned though is your personal, subjective fun. There is nothing more grand or honorable about it.
Also get off the high horse assuming your way is the only way of having fun in this game or what the game is about (especially in a game like FFXIV that offers so much that it attracts tons of different players).
It's happening either way. I was skeptical, then bought one for PLD, and I'll be getting one for DRK. I've played all Tanks to 60 on different characters. With limited time like lots of players it's precisely what they're there for. Yoshida said vet players will buy most of them. Now on the other hand I would never dream of buying one for a role I've never hit endgame with. Terrifying to know that Healers can roll up to endgame with less than a weeks worth of experience. Or any role for that matter.
can we stop this discussion until 4.1?
I would be ok with mogstation having a "heirloom" set of armor and weapon..something that doesn't need to be repaired and scales with your level and gives you a exp boost that caps at 60 that would make me want to lvl from 1-60.
The main thing that stops me from leveling from the begininng is needing to update gear every few levels..its a small niggle but its enough to annoy me.
The game concept is "make money for the people who created me".
Anything after that is an effort to enable the concept.
There is a very clear and easily identifiable distinction between the leveling process and the gearing process and endgame and whatever else you want to talk about. Your argument is that of the slippery slope fallacy. It is the same argument that people use when they argue that gay marriage will no doubt lead to people marrying dogs, cars and bridges, or that abortion law protecting a fetus after a certain trimester should extend throughout the pregnancy (which people then comically say should extend to masturbatory secretions).
The difference between leveling 1-60 and everything that comes after it is exceedingly clear to anyone not trying to make an irrational argument against jump potions. Up to that point, the experience is essentially meaningless repetition of PotD, or people who choose a method that is quantifiably slower than this. After 60, the content becomes relevant to the most recently released expansion, and not as repetative (PvP shenanigans withstanding that have now been fixed).
Maybe because its a MMO thus it also impacts the rest too? I had a handful of potion users in an instance and trials and all of them were simply bad at their job. The healer in the last story trial, that jumped, was one of the biggest reason that we did not manage to beat it. I am not even sure if that healer had swiftcast..I was rezzing as a summoner the whole time..So if people jump and take their time to learn their job before they go into group content, then it would be fine with me...but if those people jump and go into content without a plan of what to truly do..well then this will be on the back of the rest of the team.
I'd like to say i hate these leveling potions but despite my personal grievances i begrudgingly support this thread, if only for the fact that, that is more income for FFXIV via mogstation which is a large source of their budget to use on the game (Sub fee's largely going towards Square Enix as a whole)
If people want to toss a bunch of money at the cash shop lettem i think, and if i have to play with em and they aren't doing so well then i'll help them out because thats what a community does.
We get more players, the game we love gets more money, for more improvements and content, and if you do find someone truly toxic just remember the report feature.
If there is a huge demand for the boosts, I would not be suprised to see DoL and DoH level 60 boosts also being sold via the Mog Station.
I don't see the problem. There are people with multiple level 70's who have been here since at least 2.0, and still aren't that good at those jobs. Then, you have a few sprouts that can actually do their job to pass high level content. Sure, the opposite of both is true, too, more often than not, but taking a character to even 60 is at least a solid chunk of time that some don't have.
I would like to boost a few classes myself, as I don't have much time for the grind (nor do I have the sanity to do what I did with my Whm again, which was grind PotD from lvl 34 to 60 with my 2 week Stormblood Launch vacation). I work 12hrs a day, and that doesn't take into account normal life stuff that needs to be done, so my time is precious. Even if it is a max of 3 classes it would be better, that way new people can at least try one of each role to see what they like here, and old timers can get those classes they don't have the time for (or really don't want the level slog).
as an astrologian you see such things
it also lays in your hand to tell people what it means to "enjoy a game" since there is no variety in this
tbh im still waiting for these "wipe-causing" people - that everybody seems to talk about:confused::confused: it's not like they are just bad players in particular (and if - its surely one of those "jump-potions" users)
Lol. Could be them thats the problem though. Like last night in Doma Castle tank would go from 100% to like 5HP in an instant. It was crazy. Second wipe he started moaning at me "I play AST so IDK wtf your doing wrong." Made me feel really bad. I was pulling out everything I could :(
Ran it again this morning, nothing was different, same sect etc. But was able to heal the summoners pet and do DPS. 0 wipes. So who was really the cause of the wiping last night I wonder?
If the DoW and DoM boosts sell, then SE will sell DoL and DoH, this I can promise you. Leveling Fisher can be boring, but I did find leveling one alot easier and faster then leveling Botanist or Miner. My advice is to check the guides online ( I want to link one, but not sure if its allowed) and buy gathering food, GC gathering buffs and just fish. I leveled my fisher from 30-50 in one day and a friend of mine leveled his Fisher from 1-50 in 1 day and 50-60 in day aswell.
PS: I noticed that you are leveling your crafting classes which are above level 50, but your gathering are still under level 35. If you want to save alot of money, I advice to level the DoL classes aswell. The mats needed for level 50+ requires alot of mats. You can buy this if you have alot of gil, but I reckon you want to save as much gil as you can and instead make profits.
