But by your logic relics should not exist either, at any point those quest test player skills.

Its not a band-aid. The minor adjustments to how Notorious Monsters spawned in the original Diadem was a band-aid. The changes have altered the Diadem so that it is closer to how it was originally intended to be played.
Pretty much everyone who is crying about the i280 weapons are doing so because they are knee-jerk reacting to hearing about a new item with better stats than their Relics and Alex weapons even though it doesn't have the glamour rewards of the others (which tends to be the actual long term reward for doing those pieces of content).
So then, again, what's the point?
Once you get the minion, that's done. The RNG minion can't save the diadem from becoming barren, because not even the hunting hawk was successful at doing that.
You can get i265 gear from here yes, but once scripture is uncapped, and the Mhachi Shilling (spell check) isn't weekly locked, you can do that to gear up to full 270 in no time, and I assume most people would rather have full 270 than 265.
So the only thing left would be the i280 wep, and as you stated yourself, people will start to realize after a few days (a few DAYS) that even trying to get this weapon would be a ridiculously waste of time because of how rare your chances are of actually getting it, and even more so a waste of time since there is no current content that truly needs it, and it would just be outgeared in stormblood anyway.
The only other thing I can truly find any real use of the diadem after that is gathering. honestly.
So again, what is the point?
By that logic, we should simply accept whenever content SE delivers with a smile and thank you? How dare people be critical.
Incidentally, I'm not nearly as salt but can certainly appreciate people's frustration. Our relics are not even two weeks old and no longer BiS. Does it matter at this stage? No. However, that is not the point nor people's contention. Had this released in May, you likely aren't going to see the current backlash.
Perhaps you ought to practice what you preach. Screaming in all caps is no less childish than those attributing this to the world's end. After all, you're venting your frustration yet condemning others for doing the same.
Scripture won't be uncapped until 4.0 releases limiting the ability for casuals to get i270 gear that way. Creator Savage will likely be uncapped in 3.56 when it will also get nerfs and echo which benefits midcore/hardcore players.
The diadem i265 gear is going to be the primary way casuals gear up above i260.
Because there will always be players who do not see it as a waste of time. As long as there are players with a reason to queue there will be a point.Quote:

Most of the complaints about the i280 weapons seem to stem from a perceived belief that the existence of a .01% drop rate weapon invalidates getting an i275 weapon as if they could be purchased for 99 Bronze Skypirate Spoils.
In an alternate reality: "What the hell, SE? Why are the Diadem weapons only i270? That's less than the relic! What is even the point of Diadem??"
In another alternate reality: "What the hell, SE? Why are Diadem weapons i275? That's the same as the relic! Now the relic is pointless!" / "That's the same as the relic! Diadem is pointless!"
The fact that SE had to put a i280 in there just to get people to consider doing it really just proves how good the content really is.
Just take a look at PoTD. It only offers 255 weapons, but........people still do Palace. Honestly, Diadem was a failure, It's fundamentally flawed. SE should've just let it rot.
Remember that one time I said this game only caters to casuals and has a tendency to punish you whenever you try and grind for anything and work hard for something in this game only to be disappointed? I'm happy you guys are finally feeling the result of this ridicilous formula where just because someone pays for sub they should have what you have with less effort. Skipping Soar or not the items are just us good. Meaning I don't have to do Zurvan ex I still have a better weapon.
Oh, there are players with really good DPS still with a KinnNAH weapon? That red glow is there to warn you about possible low damage.
Kinna weapon was dead on day-one because Sophia already had i255 on 3.4 patch day, and raiders were already on i255, i260 or i270 Shire weapon because of the A10S/A11S drops.
I find it silly that they try to invalidate extreme primal content in the next small patches.
I think they will have these same problems with any new endgame content to get add. They can't give anything better than welfare/raid/relic gear since people will rage about it. If they add in something low enough to not make them mad, it's Dead on Arrival.
PotD works because it is easy leveling XP.
Considering the 280 weapon is rare as in RARE (wondrous tails plus competent 8x8 parties) to even obtain i really don't see the problem compared to alex and anima, people need to calm down.
It doesn't matter how good content is, in this game players have shown time and again that they will only run content that progresses their gear, even if that means farm spamming content until the point of burnout. The quality of content is irrelevant to far too many players so long as the shineys are better than the shineys they have already.
PvE-only Players: Hi, welcome to what it's been like for us PvPers when they made controversial changes to PvP modes.
Take a seat, get comfortable. It might be a while before they reply.
Except the drop rate on those weapons are so astronomically low few will bother. In fact, plenty of raiders have quit the game entirely-- be it until Stormblood or indefinitely-- due to it ruining their speed runs. You know what would make people run Diadem? More fights like the Emergency Mission. Put rewards behind speed kills, how many players died and other achievement like things. EX Primals are worthless to any raider who can clear Savage yet how many funnel in because they want the mounts? A 280 weapon isn't going to entice many people.
I don't where the whole "my speedruns" thing is coming from or why it is SE's concern. fflogs is not SE's site, nor is their content beholden to maintaining it's rules.
Nah man, get over yourself.
I'm not bothered by 280 weps either, but that doesn't mean I'm not aware of how messed up it is as an addition, and a poorly timed one at that.
Weapon acquisition is really getting absurd in this game. I mean, raid weps make sense, except in Gordias. Then they changed tome weps to require a 7-week gate thanks to an arbitrary number of Normal raid drops plus the original tome costs (which were a 3-week gate). This also seemed to slow down tome weapons to work beside relic steps, seemingly (cue the /thinking emote here), and of course you have Primal weapons working as the in-betweens, crafted weapons as more expensive-yet-lesser in-betweens, and the Holy Mother of XIV Grinding; the relic. It used to be Raid/Relic (completed)>Tome>Primal>Crafted, but in this one addition alone, that flow was easily disrupted, and for what? To carrot and stick people into the Diadem?
Man, that carrot's really not looking so juicy now. And with raid weps now eclipsed prior to Stormblood, completed relics literally getting their thunder stolen within 9 days (side note: as much as I hate relics, even I'm working on a 2nd one, largely for glamour reasons), and everything else below that devalued based on time/effort/skill requirements when compared to what it takes for that 1% i280 wep. . . well, we're quickly hitting that "why even bother?" point.
Still, "get over it"? Nah dude. Roll over and play the "Enjoy what you have now" card if you like, but if you accept it now, you'll have to accept it when they do it again in 4.0. . . You know, just like the "Atma 3.0" step at the start of the Anima relic (after so many people hated it the first 2 times around, skippable or not), and that time they AGAIN rebranded FATES and hunts and called it "the Diadem".
I don't care about fflogs it is just that you can get the best stuff in a game without putting any effort into it. Its like when you log in and an npc hands you the best stuff right at the starting point for free, Except that you need a bit luck to have good partys in diadem and to see the emergency mission.
In my oppinion the best stuff in a game has to be locked behind something where you have to put effort into and it should stay the best stuff until the next patch with challenging/harder content hits the servers.
I'm looking forward to 4.0 when SE is doing stuff like that even sooner after people farmed their tome weapons for weeks, raided like maniacs or did their relics. Lets see if you still say "Nah its totaly awesome".
Considering I've been playing since 1.0 launch, and have done multiples of every relic step pre nerf, and all of coil while it was relevant, I'm sure i'll be just fine. Hell, the only reason I stopped raiding in 3.0 was because it wasn't fun. I dont care about the "but muh exclusive drops and ilvl" or "muh speedkill" And that is where all the salt currently is. oh no, i just finished 2 relics and theres a better weapon out, whatever shall I do. Oh no, savage has been out for 6 months, and our weapons are invalid, and our speedclears.
I have never played this game for the ilvl upgrades. That's probably why I will never be salty about such things. If I do any hard content, its because I want to do the hard content for fun, not to inflate my self worth or show off to other people or get gear no one else has.
I'm not saying I'm not somewhat the same, but by that logic, let there be no complaints if Savage raids don't have mounts or titles, or well, anything relevant in 4.0.
Like I've been saying in the PvP section: Even if you don't care about rewards, even if you legit do things for fun, let's not act like it's not simply the nature of gamers - especially ones who play MMOs - to want proportional rewards for the time, effort, or skill put into things, and XIV seems intent on defying that as much as possible. Relics were the time-effort reward, raid drops were the skill-effort reward. This i280 thing is. . . what exactly?
All we need now is to complete the descent into madness: i280 Tataru Gear in 3.56. Quest Reward. Please look forward to it.
Not all of the salt is due to those reasons.
I don't care about speed kills either and I don't care about "exclusives" or w/e
I do the savage content because I like it. I don't care about what other people have.
My main issue was I was really happy to have finished my relic and I assumed it would be the best weapon for at least a month.
9 days later and now I have to farm for i280 already if I want the best weapon available.
That is way too fast for anything to be invalidated in any game.
If they added the i280 at the end of March or something I would have zero complaints since I don't care about it being better than relic or savage...I just care that invalidating anything after only 9 days is just ridiculous.
So and because you don't care about anything in a game...question is why you log in at all after you did everything once, but thats your choice, no one else is alowed to get frustrated that his/her NEW weapon is outdated after just 9 days after it came out?
Even if you don't care about stuff like that for yourself, your mind should tell you that this is absolutly wrong to replace a new weapon only 9 days after it came into a game.
And i don't know why you always want to point at people that want their stuff where they did a lot for as show offs, this may be true for a few people but not for the majority of players who went through the content to archieve their goals.
That's hardly a counterargument, lol! They're pretty much at the finish line. After coming that far, they might as well finish. Hell, I banged out the 200, 210, and 220 steps in like 2 days or so. I'm back to Umbrite on this 2nd relic. No point stopping now.
But that 280 business is still no good.
