- tanks who never use defensive cooldowns, so the healers cant dps as much.
- DRKs who poorly manage their mp, drop darkside, and then forget to turn it back on.
- healers that don't dps at all and just overheal everyone constantly (WHMs...)
- getting 2 AST in df and one of them overwrites good cards with trash ones, instead of discarding/royal roading them.
- dps who never use cooldowns, or only use them on bosses. (BLMs...)
- dps who never aoe. (BLMs.....)
- no foe req brds
- smns who have their pet on sic instead of obey
- tanks with no provoke. healers with no swiftcast. dps missing really basic cross skills like raging strikes or internal release.

Really all of these can be summed up to a player who is simply less skilled. This is how skill is measured in a game like an MMO. Decision making, positioning, understanding. Its easy to spot a player who is pretty capable based on these characteristics, no matter the role they are playing. My biggest pet peeve are tanks who completely ignore mob positioning, and who have poor situational awareness. I often ask in group chat when I notice they are never using their cooldowns, and some of the answers I get are comical. As someone who main tanks a lot I almost always have my camera positioned to watch the entire battlefield. I will constantly adjust mob placement if need be. If im in a tight area and I have a mnk, nin, drg who I know need space behind and on the flank of mobs, I position accordingly. If its a big pull of trash, I drag the mobs in such a way to make them as tight as possible to fit inside ground aoes, I also try to make sure all the mobs are facing one direction so positional damage is still easy. If its a boss fight where the boss is having to be moved a lot, I stay mindful of where every member of the party is at all times, and position the boss accordingly. If I notice the healer struggling, for whatever reason, I plan my cooldown usage to maximize efficiency and make their life easier. I make use of every single ability in the paladin action tree. There are little nuances that happen in every fight, and you can often notice a player who "gets it" and players who dont really have it.
You can make a list of common failures for all roles. If its someone in my fc I will try to engage failures constructively, and get them to think about things differently. If they arent using their cooldowns, I explain why its important to do so. I try to explain the "big picture", that by you being efficient, it makes the whole group more efficient. -

The fact that is happens so frequently is what is most bizarre I think. I imagine it's a bit akin to that of a culture shock, you'd almost certainly noticed if someone didn't say "please" or "thank you" for example. Would you say nothing to a cashier in a small shop? If so then consider me equally surprised, it's just something that strikes people as odd. They're your teammates whether you like it or not, so they're not equivocal to a random stranger you sit next to on a bus and have literally 0 association with whatsoever. Am I the only one who has never mastered the Auto-Translate function? Using a PC it is the most cumbersome interface I've ever encountered, and I simply don't like using it.
As far as pulling mobs and using massive AoE, some Tanks need to realize when, exactly, that "massive" AoE from Dragoons is useful, and when it is better not to pull an entire room of hounds to which we will all die because the other DPS (not BLM) and I ran out of TP while half of them were still alive and well. -

I do find it most hilarious when the 24-man raid has 3 scared tanks. Twenty-four people standing by the boss arena's entrance after a 24/24 ready check staring at the boss for almost half a minute because none of the 3 tanks wants to take the initiative to main tank and none of them says anything... Nothing happens until a ranged DPS finally gets fed up with it. Funny how it takes a role that's not a tank to get the ball rolling in those situations.
And people not talking/greeting in DF is depressing, but understandable. It's what happens when you don't have to (or in some cases, can't, even if you would like to) see the 3/7/23 other people ever again because they're on another server. Sorry to say, but for most people DF is a means to an end, not for socializing. I don't feel like anyone is obligated to say anything so long as they hold up their end of the party/role. A lot of people just want to get out of there after getting their Tomestones of Participationerics. -

I've been leveling nin, and I'm hoping this doesn't mean I'm supposed to spam death blossom on a group of mobs at the expense of any other skill... it does a pitiful amount of damage and shares the same gcd so its not like the ninjutsu which can be thrown in between the steps of the primary dps chain...
Don't get me wrong, I use it and the two aoe jutsu on groups, but I've seen some Ninja just spam deathblossom and nothing else as though it doesnt matter what kind of damage it does, just as long as it hits everyone... -

This is something I kindof do that might piss people off, but I'm that guy who tells everyone at the start I'm either learning, training or, not very good to my liking at my class at the start. I do this so everyone knows where I am. If not that I often say something to the lines of " It's up to us to save the planet. Lets not let the planet down." Or something to that effect. I can see where it might be an eye roll, but the :D and the lols at the start are worth it.

Even after a wipe in a primal EX run I never waited or asked to wait for a cool down. Plus out of the 3 melee, nin is the one that don't starve as much for TP, can put a doton that will crit every dot with kassatsu and can use katon every 20 seconds giving the nin a really decent aoe dps for a melee. -
